But I also feel that systems fall in one of the below categories, and Hibernate may not be suited for all these cases, I'm interested in your thoughts about this, do you agree with me? please let me know when would use HB in the following case and why. • How do I extend the classpath used for 'grails run-app'

  I have the following in my Config.groovy file: grails.config.locations = [ "classpath:env.groovy" ] Now, where exactly am I supposed to place "env.groovy" such that it is available on the CLASSPATH during grails run-app? The documentation here is sorely lacking. I am able to get it to work on the pure commandline by placing "env.groovy" in $APP_HOME/etc and then running: $ grails -classpath ./etc run-app This seems a little hackish, but I can live with it... However, I am unable to get any such configuration working when I launch run-app using the Grails eclipse plugin (STS): Unable to load specified config location classpath:env.groovy : class path resource [env.groovy] cannot be opened because it does not exist I've seen related posts here, here, here, and here but the answers have been unfulfilling. I am looking for a CLASSPATH-based solution that will work with 'run-app' in development mode (both commandline and from eclipse). I know how to set up the CLASSPATH for my deployment servlet container, so that is not an issue.

• Limit Apache to 1 request per process

  I have a few long running processes on apache and when the server gets a bit of a load they all seem to couple into 3-4 processes. I've tried setting the MaxRequestsPerChild to 1 and that works, but spawning new processes all the time is expensive. • Cannot find libmysqlclient under /usr. while build PHP 5.2 from source on Ubuntu 12.4

  I was trying to build PHP 5.2.17 from source on Ubuntu 12.4 64bit using this configuration: ./configure --prefix=/opt/php5.2 --with-config-file-path=/opt/php5.2 --with-mysql but I keep getting this error: configure: error: Cannot find libmysqlclient under /usr. Note that the MySQL client library is not bundled anymore! I suspected that dev package for mysql is not installed so tried installing libmysqlclient-dev but it was already there. Any Idea how to resolve this? EDIT1: I minimized the configure command so it just focuses to mysql. also I'm running a 64bit version of ubuntu. • Trying to programmatically add a SQL Alias to the registry (just need help with parameters)

  Normally when we spin up a new instance we need to add an alias on one of our boxes so we can easily connect to it through SSMS using SQL Server Configuration Manager. I have written a batch file which adds the appropriate entry into the registry (it is actually two batch files, one for 32 bit and one for 64 bit). I am not sure how to get this to run with parameters though. I know %1 and %2 would be for the first two parameters, but when I run this, in the registry it actually puts %1 and %2 as the value pair. if you hardcode hostname and IP Address in place of %1 and %2 the batch file works as expected: REGEDIT4 ; @ECHO OFF ; CLS ; REGEDIT.EXE /S "%~f0" ; EXIT [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\ConnectTo] "%1"="DBMSSOCN,%2,1433"

  Hello, does anyone knows a file format for configuration files easy to read by humans? I want to have something like tag = value where value may be: String Number(int or float) Boolean(true/false) Array(of String values, Number values, Boolean values) Another structure(it will be more clear what I mean in the fallowing example) Now I use something like this: IntTag=1 FloatTag=1.1 StringTag="a string" BoolTag=true ArrayTag1=[1 2 3] ArrayTag2=[1.1 2.1 3.1] ArrayTag3=["str1" "str2" "str3"] StructTag= { NestedTag1=1 NestedTag2="str1" } and so on. Parsing is easy but for large files I find it hard to read/edit in text editors. I don't like xml for the same reason, it's hard to read. INI does not support nesting and I want to be able to nest tags. I also don't want a complicated format because I will use limited kind of values as I mentioned above. Thanks for any help.

  Hello app engineers! I'm on an app engine project where I'd like to put in a link to a Javascript test runner that I'd like to only exist when running the development server. I've made some experiments on a local shell with configuration loaded using the technique found in NoseGAE versus live on the 'App Engine Console' [1] and it looks to me like a distinction btw real instance and dev server is the presence of the module google.appengine.tools. Which lead me to this utility function: def is_dev(): """ Tells us if we're running under the development server or not. :return: ``True`` if the code is running under the development server. """ try: from google.appengine import tools return True except ImportError: return False The question (finally!) would be: is this a bad idea? And in that case, can anyone suggest a better approach? • How to add folder to assembly search path at runtime in .NET?

  My DLLs are loaded by a third-party application, which we can not customize. My assemblies have to be located in their own folder. I can not put them into GAC (my application has a requirement to be deployed using XCOPY). When the root DLL tries to load resource or type from another DLL (in the same folder), the loading fails (FileNotFound). Is it possible to add the folder where my DLLs are located to the assembly search path programmatically (from the root DLL)? I am not allowed to change the configuration files of the application.

• wamp magento no admin page

  I have a live magento website hosted in Bluehost, I just installed wamp and tried to clone the live website to local wamp server. After some configuration changed from live server to local, the site is working with no problem, however, there is no admin page! If I go to localhost/magento/admin, it takes me to 404 page and throw error: The requested URL /magento/admin was not found on this server. How do I fix this? Thanks lots.   Hello: I have a note table with columns: title :string content :text rating :integer and a thinking_sphinx configuration: define_index do indexes :title, :sortable => true indexes :content end Then I can search the notes and assign weights to title and content to define the order or the result: Note.search "abc", :match_mode => :extended, :field_weights => { :title => 10, :content => 3 } Now I want to assign a weight to the rating column The type of the rating column is integer. The range of the rating is [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Can I just add weight at the :field_weights :field_weights => { :title => 10, :content => 3, :rating => 5 } or I need to do something else to make the note which has higer rating display first?

• In Ruby on Rails Routing I Would Like to Use Dash `-` Instead of Underscore `_`

  I would like all the URLs for my web applications to use dash - instead of underscore _ for word separators. I'm surprised about a couple of things really: Google et al. continue to distinguish them. That RoR doesn't have a simple global configuration parameter to map - to _ in the routing. Or does it? I found a few questions here and elsewhere, but the best solution I've seen is to use :as or a named route. That's quite annoying. So I'm thinking of modifying the Rails routing to check for that global config and change - to _ before dispatching to a controller action. But before I do that, I'm hoping someone can save me the trouble! Thanks in advance for any help, or even confirmation that my approach makes sense. I'd submit it back. BTW, I'm currently on 2.3.8, but hope to migrate to 3 soon.

• TeamCity's build agent unable to find PowerShell

  I have TC's build agent installed on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Core. The server has PowerShell 2.0 installed (double checked, and actually from PS downloaded the TC installation). Looking at some build configuration I see these being incompatible with this agent, because powershell_x86/powershell_x64 is required. I tried deleting build agents dirs to force upgrade, but no luck. Interestingly if I provide powershell_x86, powershell_x86_Path (and for 64bit) variables into config file manually, everything runs fine. Is there anything I can do to have the build agent find PowerShell automatically? What/where is it looking for it? Maybe the 'Core' is problem.

• Ninject caching an injected DataContext? Lifecycle Management?

  I had a series of very bizarre errors being thrown in my repositories. Row not found or changed, 1 of 2 updates failed... Nothing made sense. It was as if my DataContext instance was being cached... Nothing made sense and I was considering a career move. I then noticed that the DataContext instance was passed in using dependency injection, using Ninject (this is the first time I have used DI...). I ripped out the Dependency Injection, and all went back to normal. Instantly. So dependency injection was the issue, but I still don't know why. I am speculating that Ninject was caching the injected DataContext. Is this correct? Is there a way of configuring the lifecycle management of injected parameters? If so, what would be the best configuration to use to have the DataContext behave like a normal DataContext, ie, no caching across requests?

• TFS: How do I view .cs files in the VS IDE when viewing details of a shelveset?

  For our code review process we open the details of a shelveset to see all files that have been worked on. Right clicking and choosing "Compare" works great for existing ( modified ) files. But, when a file has been added I just want to view the file. Double clicking ( or right click - view ) opens .cs ( and .sql )files in notepad. When I try to open a .PRC file ( extension for our stored procedures ) I get a prompt that allows me to choose what program to use for viewing. Does anyone know how to get this prompt to show up for .cs files ( and all other files, for that matter ) Thanks! • Spring Framework HttpRequestHandler failure

  We have an application which communicates via REST requests made by clients. The REST requests contain "region name" and a "ID" as parameters So, a request would look something like this (for a DELETE) http://host:port/regionnameID These REST requests between regions in a federation are properly URL encoded I find that these request fail if the region name has a slash ("/") in it. Then, the request would look like so http://host:port/region/nameID This is due to incorrect interpretation of the Rest URL by HttpRequesthandler when there is a '/' in the region name. Now, we have no control over clients sending REST request with "/" in the Region name. Is there any method / configuration / workaround that can be done to prevent the HttpRequestHandler from returning 404

  A fully functional Django project as well as a couple in development have all broken following the rebooting of the server. In addition to some pieces of the Django admin returning errors as well as missing .js and .css files, I'm getting errors like this when viewing pages that include images uploaded through the admin. • Scrapy + Eclipse PyDev : how to setup the debugger?

  I've successfully setup Eclipse with my Scrapy project. I did it by setting a new Run/Debug configuration : Whose main module links to Scrapy /usr/local/bin/scrapy for me (I've found suggestion to use cmdline.py but that failed on my computer (OSX Lion & scrapy installed through easy_install) Defining the arguments to send "crawl ny" in my case as I would if I used the Scrapy command line Setting the correct working directory (${workspace_loc:My Project/src} in my case) Eclipse can successfully launch my project, but I've no debbuger. I'm missing my breakpoints and variable inspection, does anyone know how to setup the debbugger with this environment ?

• mdi child forms slow to draw when visibility changed

  My application has the following UI configuration: The main form is an MDI container. Its child forms are attached to a tabstrip. Each user has his set of child forms. Depending on the active user, only that user's child forms are displayed, together with tabs. This is achieved by going through the main form's MdiChildren and setting their Visible property to false/true depending on the active user. This has two undesired effects. One is that every child form gets redrawn in succession, which is ugly and slow. The other is that for some reason the forms go from maximized to normal, effectively undocking them from the main form. Is there any way to display just one of the child forms, such as the one the user was previously looking at, and get the others to stay in the background? The maximize/normal thing is not that big a deal because I can maximize them again manually.

  Hello all, I make a GET request to a CGI script and I get a 404 error. However, I am 100% sure that script is present and it has permissions: -rwxr-xr-x 1 apache apache 6520 Sep 7 03:01 uu_ini_status_audios.pl The request URL is: http://mysite.com/cgi-bin/uu_ini_status_audios.pl?tmp_sid=893facacc5dc392ad0f4c91e6a9e8d40&rnd_id=0.12266222834382812 The error I get: The requested URL /cgi-bin/uu_ini_status_audios.pl was not found on this server. This use to work for me before, but I think it stopped working after I restarted apache so maybe it means its a configuration I changed?? I checked the error logs for apache and php and nothing useful was found to help me with my problem! I appreciate any help on this!

• EntityDataSource Unable to configure to Entity Model

  I'm doing my first test asp.net3.5 app using EntityDataSource. I've got the basic project built and the Entity model created and compiled. Database is a local sqlexpress one in app_data directory. When I put the <asp:EntityDataSource /> control on the page and try to configure it, I'm getting the message "The list of named connections could not be loaded because the configuration could not be opened". At this point, everything in the project is "auto-created" by Visual Studio 2008sp1. I confused as I cannot find any information on how to correct from this message.

• What are the main reasons against the Windows Registry?

  If i want to develop a registry-like System for Linux, which Windows Registry design failures should i avoid? Which features would be absolutely necessary? What are the main concerns (security, ease-of-configuration, ...)? I think the Windows Registry was not a bad idea, just the implementation didn't fullfill the promises. A common place for configurations including for example apache config, database config or mail server config wouldn't be a bad idea and might improve maintainability, especially if it has options for (protected) remote access. I once worked on a kernel based solution but stopped because others said that registries are useless (because the windows registry is)... what do you think?
