  • Compiling error with API 10

    I was following the basic tutorials on developers.android.com and came by creating the activity named DisplayMessageActivity. It is a blank activity with all the specifications given as shown in the tutorial. FYI, I am using Min SDK = API 8, Target SDK = API 16, Compile with = API 10 The next thing is that there are two errors: "The method getActionBar() is undefined for the type DisplayMessageActivity "home cannot be resolved or is not a field" I tried changing the API to 14 which called for another problem, it wants the minimum API to be 11. That solves these problems, but the main problem is so many devices still use Gingerbread or maybe FroYo. Can't I write for them? Do I have to go higher? How to write for them?

    Hi, I am doing something seemingly pretty easy, but Rails is messing up the SQL. I could just execute my own SQL, but the framework should be able to handle this. Here is the save I am trying to perform: w = WhipSenVote.find(:first, :conditions => ["whip_bill_id = ? AND whip_sen_id = ?", bill_id, k]) w.votes_no = w.votes_no - 1 w.save My generated SQL looks like this: SELECT * FROM "whip_sen_votes" WHERE (whip_bill_id = E'1' AND whip_sen_id = 7) LIMIT 1 And then: UPDATE "whip_sen_votes" SET "votes_yes" = 14, "updated_at" = '2009-11-13 19:55:54.807000' WHERE "id" = 15 The first select statement is correct, but as you can see, the Update SQL statement is pretty wrong, though the votes_yes value is correct. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Getting my app to work on my phone

    Hello I wrote an app android sdk version 1.5 using it's built in emulator in eclipse. I created a database outside of eclipse populated it with data and push it to the emulator folder data/data/project name/database and could access it fine from the my app, everything was working great. My final step was to test the apk file on an actual phone. When I did that the program would not work. After looking into it I found that the database file was not being uploaded into the phone. Is there a special way to install the apk file on the actual phone to get the embedded database to work? Or can I assume that since everything worked fine on the sdk 1.5 emulator that everything will work when I upload it to the market. Thanks in advance.

    Recently search engines have been able to page dynamic content on social networking sites. I would like to understand how this is done. Are there static pages created by a site like Facebook that update semi frequently. Does Google attempt to store every possible user name? As I understand it, a page like www.facebook.com/username, is not an actual file stored on disk but is shorthand for a query like: select username from users and display the information on the page. How does Google know about every user, this gets even more complicated when things like tweets are involved.

I would like to replace these with meaningful data as follow If(1 OR 6 OR 10 OR 14 OR 18 OR 22 OR 26) should be replaced with UL. If(3 OR 7 OR 11 OR 15 OR 19 OR 23 OR 27) should be replaced with LL. After the installation on trying to run, it shows this error: Error 14 It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. E:\Users\Sarin\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\WebSites\WebAssist\blog\web.config 61 I added the webiste as a Virtual Directory and also converted that to application.   • R looking for the wrong java version

    Hi, I installed/uninstalled java jre/jdk now many times and finally installed the older version 1.6.0_17 which is now located at "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin". Now after all if I call 'java -version' within R i can see that R is looking for Java at the old path which is now wrong. The question is: Why is R looking for Java at the wrong path even so the windows path is set correctly? There are no double entrys within the windows path as far as I can see and I restarted R as well as Windows more then once since then. Any Ideas where R takes the wrong path from? I need to create a node with employee working hours (it's gonna be created for all users with role "employee"), which looks like this: Monday: From __ : __ To __ : __ Tuesday: From __ : __ To __ : __ Wednesday: From __ : __ To __ : __ etc. So, I'll have to create probably 14 CCK fields (monday_from, monday_to, tuesday_from...) or more to store the day of the week and workging hours (hours and minutes). 2. I need to add a view with exposed filters, where visitors can filter employees by day of the week and working hours. What kind of field should I use for working hours? Instead i want that the function will get a directory for example c:\ And it will return me a List of all directories in c:\ Not subsirectories just the directories in c:\ in my case it should be a List with a 14 directories. Meaning in each index in the List a directory. How can i do it ? Tried with Directory and DirectoryInfo but i just got messed up.

  • Empty R environment becomes large file when saved

    I'm getting behaviour I don't understand when saving environments. The code below demonstrates the problem. I would have expected the two files (far-too-big.RData, and right-size.RData) to be the same size, and also very small because the environments they contain are empty. In fact, far-too-big.R ends up the same size as bigfile.RData. I get the same results using 2.14.1 and 2.15.2, both on WinXP 5.1 SP3. Can anyone explain why this is happening?
