• What sort of schema can I use to accommodate manual date based data entries?

  I have an admin where users from multiple properties can enter in monthly statistics for twitter/facebook followers. We do not have access to the real data/db so this is why a manual entry. The form looks like this: Type ( radio, select **one** only ): - Twitter - Facebook Followers/Fans ( textfield ): Property (dropdown): Hotel A, Hotel B Date Start: mm/dd/yyyy (textfield) Date End: mm/dd/yyyy (textfield) Question 1.1: Since I am only keeping track of month per month, the date start/end fields which I have already created might be too specific. Would it be a better idea just to have a start month/year and and month/year if that's the only thing I care about? Question 1.2: What schema could I use for month to month statistics if I were to change the date start and end textfields to start month/year and end month/year dropdowns?

• Android API Target Level 5 and 6 for Ubuntu

  Today i installed Ubuntu 10.4 and Eclipse Galileo. Then I downloaded the Android SDK and tried to install all packages via the Android SDK Tools. But unfortunately, only the Target Levels 3, 4, 7 and 8 were available. API Level 5 and 6 are missing. Does anybody know the reason for this? I already did a Google search and there seems to be nobody with the same problem. I also tried to restart it and nothing happens, the API Levels are still missing.

• How to make my iphone app icon update like the weather app icon?

  I have an application that I'm currently building that requires me to display a visual update on the application it self. example: The weather app displays 14 degrees celcius and some clouds as its application icon. When the weather changes there is an update to the way the icon looks without having to open the weather app. The applications icon changes to reflect the update in weather. You can then open the weather app to get more information if need be. In my application I need to have an update system like that which shows the user information without opening the application. If they would like more information they can open the application then. I have no idea how to accomplish this task at the moment. I hope someone will be able to help or point me in the right direction. Thank you for your time.

• Reading in MIPS external file so another file can use it?

  Hey all, I'm working on this final thing for my MIPS project and it's deceptively easy. I need to get a procedure (called feed) and let its main driver program use it by reading it in. I know that I'm supposed to use the call code 14 and .globl sym (I think) in order to feed it into the file and have it read it. I just need a basic tutorial or something, as I CANNOT find it on the Internet or in my book (just lists the call code, real helpful). Here's what I know: I need to use read, but I also need a file descriptor (don't know where to get it). I need to put the buffer in $a1 and the length in $a2. Well, that's about it. If there's any decent tutorial you could whip up or if there is one online that I don't see let me know please :). I just need a push in the right direction, I'm sure it can't be too difficult, just can't find any info on it!

  The context: i have a project, that contains configs/ directory, which contains (surprise-surprise!) a set of config files: database.php, facebook.php, twitter.php, cache.php, etc What I did in svn: I have created branches per specific file and made changes there (changed database connections, facebook API keys, etc). So they were stored in my private branch. Now I'm trying to migrate to "modern" nowadays DSCM - Mercurial. And I cannot get any possibility of doing the same. Any ideas?

  In the app.config file if I use <add key = "FileDelimeter" value ="&#2c;"/> as unicode for COMMA, it is throwing error Invalid character in a decimal number 'c' For SPACE, <add key = "FileDelimeter" value ="&#20;"/> the error is Character'', hex value 0*14 is illegal in xml while <add key = "FileDelimeter" value ="&#09;"/> for "\t" worked. Where is the mistake? Kindly give a generic solution. Thanks

  AFAIK, java Date type is independent from Timezone which means that it represents specific moment of time as long typed value. I found really weird thing here. This is the original value i tried to insert. (http-0.0.0.0-9080-4) 1352955600000 <-- long integer. (http-0.0.0.0-9080-4) Thu Nov 15 00:00:00 EST 2012 <-- User Friendly Format. After i finished inserting into Oracle 11g database, the value has changed! (http-0.0.0.0-9080-4) 1352952000000 (http-0.0.0.0-9080-4) Wed Nov 14 23:00:00 EST 2012 How could this happen?? The more weird thing is it only happens specific environments such as Jboss. I'm currently using below environments. java 1.6 ibatis 2.34 jboss-5.1 (server) tomcat 6.0 (local) oracle 11g Is there anybody who can give me a clue or link to be helpful? it really bugging me!!

The code it is complaining about is: <style name="Title" parent="@android:style/TextAppearance_Holo_Large"> <item name="android:layout_height">wrap_content</item> <item name="android:layout_width">wrap_content</item> </style> I checked my manifest file and I have set the SDK to: <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="14" android:targetSdkVersion="17" /> Which i believe allows for using the Holo Themes. I am using Android Studio though I doubt that is the cause of the error. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

  I'm getting a KeyError for an out of dictionary key, even though I know the key IS in fact in the dictionary. Any ideas as to what might be causing this? print G.keys() returns the following: ['24', '25', '20', '21', '22', '23', '1', '3', '2', '5', '4', '7', '6', '9', '8', '11', '10', '13', '12', '15', '14', '17', '16', '19', '18'] but when I try to access a value in the dictionary on the next line of code... for w in G[v]: #note that in this example, v = 17 I get the following error message: KeyError: 17 Any help, tips, or advice are all appreciated. • sql query is too slow, how to improve speed

  I have run into a bottleneck when trying to update one of my tables. The player table has, among other things, id, skill, school, weight. What I am trying to do is: SELECT id, skill FROM player WHERE player.school = (current school of 4500) AND player.weight = (current weight of 14) to find the highest skill of all players returned from the query UPDATE player SET starter = 'TRUE' WHERE id = (highest skill) move to next weight and repeat when all weights have been completed move to next school and start over all schools completed, done I have this code implemented and it works, but I have approximately 4500 schools totaling 172000 players and the way I have it now, it would take probably a half hour or more to complete (did not wait it out), which is way too slow. How to speed this up? Short of reducing the scale of the system, I am willing to do anything that gets the intended result. Modify the previous query to show all students, even if they have not registered for a class. You should have 14 rows. Students who are not registered will show NULL in output. I know this requires outer join of some sort but I'm not fully grasping these joins i've read multiple posts on here and other sites but can't seem figure it out.

  I have an NSArray of NSNumbers with integer values such as [1,10,3]. I want to get the sum of all the possible subsets of these numbers. For example for 1,10 and 3 i would get: 1, 10, 3, 1+10=11, 1+3=4, 10+3=13, 1+10+3=14 there are 2^n possible combinations. I understand the math of it but im having difficulties putting this into code. so how can i put this into a method that would take the initial array of numbers and return an array with all the sums of the subsets? e.g -(NSArray *) getSums:(NSArray *)numbers; I understand that the results grow exponentially but im going to be using it for small sets of numbers.

  Hi there. I have a project, where I have posts for example. The task is next: I must show to user his last posts visit. This is my solution: every time user visits new (for him) topic, I create a new record in table visits. Table visits has next structure: id, user_id, post_id, last_visit. Now my tables visits has ~14,000,000 records and its still growing every day.. May be my solution isnt optimal and exists another way how to store users visits? Its important to save every visit as standalone record, because I also have feature to select and use users visits. And I cant purge this table, because data could be needed later month, year. How I could optimize this situation?

  Hi all, still learning, so be patient :) I've developed a module for a Java project. The module depends on external library (fastutil). the problem is, the fastutil.jar file is a couple of times heavier than the whole project itself (14 MB). I only use a tiny subset of the classes from the library. the module is now finished, and no-one is likely to extend it in future. is there a way I could extract only the relevant class to some fastutil_small.jar so that others don't have to download all this extra weight? there's probably a simple answer to this, but as I said, I still consider myself a noob.
