  • how to change link url on the web browser's status bar.

    I already read many article about this issue in here, SO. I just want to discuss how to do it. NOT the moral issue. -- for example. at the google search webpage. before I click the link, the link does not indicate the google url. but After I click the link with shift-key, the url on the status bar is changed. this mean the google webpage indicate 'Fake URL'. the google compressed script is too difficult to read and analyze. # edited The second url should work on ie8 even if I click with ctrl key.

    Just a side note for people who may be interested in creating high performance code to take advantage on NEON instruction set but wish to use NEON intrinsic instaed of coding assembly. Compiler won't generate NEON opcode unless application use the NEON intrinsic explicitly. Basically, you need ARMv7 build enviroment, so compiler can emit NEON opcode. Intrinsic prototype can be found in public\COMMON\sdk\inc\arm_neon.h and that is all you got. If you ever find an NEON opcode does not have corresponding intrinsic, you still need to use the old trick - write that part of code in assembly.

  • Why is there a lack of Backports of Optional 10.10 or later Packages in repos?

    This question is about backports again, but is specific to the difference in availability of packages. A specific example of this would be the two gcc packages in 10.10's repos: gcc (which is 4.4), and gcc-4.5 (which is gcc 4.5). While this change is in 10.10's repositories, such optional packages aren't included in the 10.04 LTS repositories, and the option to have a gcc-4.5 compiler in 10.04 might help several people (such as myself, who needs the 4.5 compiler for University, and I can't upgrade to 10.10 because it doesnt operate correctly on my system). Is there a reason a lack of such optional packages is in the 10.04 repositories?

  • Existing Calendar Software for Web Service?

    I'd like to offer users of my web platform calendars, and also offer group calendar and public calendar features. I know of Google Calendar API, of course, but that would require all my users to have Google accounts (although, I guess the question is who does not these days). I am wondering if there are any other alternatives? I can write my own, but this has gotten to have been done thousands of times already! I am looking not so much at the front end; we'd probably going to re-skin the UI anyways. But I want a solution that has good backend support for storing events and recurring events, and maintaining multiple calendars. Ideally, the engine would also support things like shared event between different calendars, syncing with other calendars, etc. Sad thing is that this does seem like Google Calendar would cover it, but asking all the users to have to have google accounts may not be realistic. Especially since we'd also want to create group calendars, and I am not sure under who's google account that'd be, and if that'd even be covered under their terms of use. Your thoughts? Thanks.

  • How do you handle increasingly long compile times when working with templates?

    I use Visual Studio 2012 and he have cases where we added templates parameters to a class "just" in order to introduce a "seam point" so that in unit-test we can replace those parts with mock objects. How do you usually introduce seam points in C++: using interfaces and/or mixing based on some criteria with implicit interfaces by using templates parameters also ? One reason to ask this is also because when compiling sometimes a single C++ file (that includes templates files, that could also include other templates) results in an object file being generated that takes in the order of around 5-10 seconds on a developer machine. VS compiler is also not particularly fast on compiling templates as far as I understand, and because of the templates inclusion model (you practically include the definition of the template in every file that uses it indirectly and possibly re-instantiate that template every time you modify something that has nothing to do with that template) you could have problems with compile times (when doing incremental compiling). What are your ways of handling incremental(and not only) compile time when working with templates (besides a better/faster compiler :-)).

Don't get me wrong grammars are great for telling the speech recognition exactly what words / phrases to look out for, however what if I want it to recognise something i've not given it a heads up about? Or I want to parse a phrase which is half pre-determined command name and half random words? For example.. Scenario A - I say "Google [Oil Spill]" and I want it to open Google with search results for the term in brackets which could be anything. Scenario B - I say "Locate [Manchester]" and I want it to search for Manchester in Google Maps or anything else non pre-determined I want it to know that 'Google' and 'Locate' are commands and what comes after it are parameters (and could be anything). Question : Does anyone know how to mix the use of pre-determined grammars (words the speech recognition should recognise) and words not in its pre-determined grammar?     Dear all,Now i have this question in my java program,I think it should be classified as URL problem,but not 100% sure.If you think I am wrong,feel free to recategorize this problem,thanks. I would state my problem as simply as possible. I did a search on the famouse Chinese search engine baidu.com for a Chinese key word "???" (Obama in English),and the way I do that is to pass a URL (in a Java Program)to the browser like: http://news.baidu.com/ns?word=??? and it works perfectly just like I input the "???”keyword in the text field on baidu.com. However,now my advisor wants another thing.Since he can not read the Chinese webpages,but he wants to make sure the webpages I got from Baidu.com is related to "Obama",he asked me to google translate it back,i.e,using google translate and translate the Chinese webpage to English one. This sounds straightforward.However,I met my problem here. If I simply pass the URL "http://news.baidu.com/ns?word=???" into Google Translate and tick "Chinese to English" translating option,the result looks awful.(I don't know the clue here,maybe related to Chinese character encoding). Alternatively,if now my browser opens ""http://news.baidu.com/ns?word=???" webpage,but I click on the "????" button (that simply means "search"),you will notice the URL will get changed,now if I pass this URL into the Google translate and do the same thing,the result works much better. I hope I am not making this problem sound too complicated,and I appologize for some Chinese words invovled,but I really need your guys' help here.Becasue I did all this in a Java program,I couldn't figure out how to realize that "????"(pressing search button) step then get the new URL.If I could get that new URL,things are easy,I could just call Google translate in my Java code,and pops out the new window to show my advisor.     I have a PHP file using CURL that accepts a Google Doc URL as a parameter, then returns the plain text of the Google Doc. It worked well until recently when apparently a redirect was added so that the http:// address redirects to the equivalent https:// address, as in this example: http://docs.google.com/View?id=dc7gj86r_20dn2csqg3 So I changed my code to access the https:// address, but it just returns blank.   • What's a good starting point to learn about JIT compilers?

    I've spent the past few months learning about stack based virtual machines, parsers, compilers, and some elementary things about hardware architecture. I've also written a few parsers and compilers for C like languages to understand the generic parser/compiler pipeline. Now I'd like to take my understanding further by learning about optimizing compilers and JIT compilers but I'm having a hard time finding material at the right level. I don't yet understand enough to dive into a code base like PyPy or LuaJIT but I also know more than what most introductory compiler books have to offer. So what are some good books for an intermediate beginner like to me to look into?
