  • Spell checker software

    Hello Guys, I have been assigned a task to find a decent spell checker (UK English) preferably the free one for a project that we are doing. I have looked at Google AJAX API for this. The project contains some young person's (kids less than 18 years old) data which shouldn't allow exposing or storing outside the application boundaries. Google logs the data for research purpose that means Google owns the data whatever we send over the wire through Google API. Is this right? I fired an email to Google regarding the privacy of data and storage but they haven't come back. If you have some knowledge regarding this please share with me. At this point our servers might not have access to external entities that means we might not be able to use Web API for this over the wire. But it may change in the future. That means I have to find out some spell checker alternatives that can sit in our environment and do the job or an external APIs. Would you mind share your findings and knowledge in this regard. I would prefer free services but never know if you have some cracking spell checker for a few quid’s then I don't mind recommending to the project board.   • Help with a simple switch statement

    I need to find the value of a variable and use it to add a class to a div, based on a switch statement. For example, my variable is $link and if $link has google.com IN IT at all, I need $class to equal 'google', if $link as yahoo.com IN IT at all, $class then needs to equal 'yahoo' So, I need something like this, but I'm not sure how/or if to use preg_match or something to check and see if the $link variable has the value we are looking for in it - see 'case' text below: switch ($link) { case 'IF link has Google.com in it': $class = 'google'; break; case 'IF link has Yahoo.com in it': $class = 'yahoo'; break; default: # code... break; } OR if there is a better way to do this, please let me know :D Thanks

    The question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2505265/how-difficult-is-it-to-migrate-away-from-google-app-engine triggered me to think about this issue again. I have read of someone running, production-wise, Google app engine development version on their own server. My questions are: Are there any security issues running GAE development on your own server in production mode and exposing it to the www? If so how to mitigate them? Can GAE dev be run on Amazon? Is it possible to port my GAE apps running on Google servers to a GAE running on Amazon, without code changes, but without changing any reference in using other gdata services such as google docs, youtube, gmail, etc. How to configure GAE dev server to use my own hadoop? Or to use Amazon's hadoop?

    When we start the linux system it take only 435mb memory and it is 4GB memory server. When we start the httpd services it take 1000mb and outmatically it take all the memory and the server crase. even we stop the apache just it release 200mb memory. But this won't work. Because GWT will obfuscate the css names. And the obfuscated name for .childWidgetStyle in ParentWidget will be different from the .childWidgetStyle in Widget1. Put main website in Facebook. Create a Youtube channel. Invest in Adwords. Invest in other online advertising companies. Use sitemap.xml and Google Webmaster tools. Use Google Trends to analyze the volume of searches of certain keywords. Use Google Analytics to analyze weak points and good points of your site, and find new oportunities in keywords. Use tools to find new keywords related with your content. Do you have some internet links, or knowledge about all the tasks that a SEO Expert should do? Could you share some knowledge about what kind of business could be do with another companies (B2B) to increase the search engine position of those product pages.   • Does Safari have a timeout issue?

    I have a website that works fine in Firefox and IE but never finishes loading in Safari 4.0.4. The live website loads a menu then loads a Google map. Using Safari, the Google map never loads. I have a test website on the same server that uses the exact same code for loading a Google map and Safari can load the map (this is the one that won't load on my live web). This test website does not have the menu - only the Google map. In both cases (live and test) the main web page calls a loadmap.js file. I've been pulling everything apart to try to identify why Safari won't finish loading. Has anyone run across any problems/solutions with Safari that may help me find a resolution to this problem?

    This is a really weird problem: I have set up the authlogic_openid_selector_example app. When i register, the email id is not returned by the openid provider the first time. But if i delete the account and register again, the email id is returned. But this doesn't seem to be happening in the example hosted here: http://big-glow-mama.heroku.com/. How do i fix this problem? Has this got to do with caching? I have hosted my version of the app here: http://pingauthtest.heroku.com/ I guess the author of authlogic_openid_selector_example app (@holden) has forgotten to commit new changes. :) I looked at my development log and the first time the provider doesn't return the openid.ext1.value.ext0 which contains the email id.
