  • Have I found a security problem in an API or do I just not understand SSL?

    - by jamieb
    I'm working on building a set of Python bindings around an XML-based API provided by a vendor. The vendor requires that all transactions be conducted over SSL. Using a Linux box, I created a key file and a CSR for my application. Using their self-service web portal, I then generate a certificate using that CSR. Both the key file and the certificate are used when making the SSL request to the API. I'm now working on designing exception classes to make error messages more verbose (and, hopefully, more useful to developers using my bindings). Part of my testing has included altering the key file: transpose a couple characters here, replace 4 or 5 with random characters there, etc. To my surprise, altering the key file had no effect! As long as I didn't change the total length of it, the API didn't complain about a bad key file. The only way I was able to throw an error was by swapping in a completely different key from another application. At that point, the API complained about the Common Name not matching. Is this normal behavior or has the vendor not properly implemented SSL?

  • Trying to get django app to work with mod_wsgi on CentOS 5

    - by David
    I'm running CentOS 5, and am trying to get a django application working with mod_wsgi. I'm using .wsgi settings I got working on Ubuntu. • Java InputStream encoding/charset

    - by Tobbe
    Running the following (example) code import java.io.*; public class test { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { byte[] buf = {-27}; InputStream is = new ByteArrayInputStream(buf); BufferedReader r = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(is, "ISO-8859-1")); String s = r.readLine(); System.out.println("test.java:9 [byte] (char)" + (char)s.getBytes()[0] + " (int)" + (int)s.getBytes()[0]); System.out.println("test.java:10 [char] (char)" + (char)s.charAt(0) + " (int)" + (int)s.charAt(0)); System.out.println("test.java:11 string below"); System.out.println(s); System.out.println("test.java:13 string above"); } } gives me this output test.java:9 [byte] (char)? (int)63 test.java:10 [char] (char)? (int)229 test.java:11 string below ? test.java:13 string above How do I retain the correct byte value (-27) in the line-9 printout? And consequently receive the expected output of the System.out.println(s) command (å).

  • python can't start a new thread

    - by Giorgos Komnino
    I am building a multi threading application. I have setup a threadPool. [ A Queue of size N and N Workers that get data from the queue] When all tasks are done I use tasks.join() where tasks is the queue . The application seems to run smoothly until suddently at some point (after 20 minutes in example) it terminates with the error thread.error: can't start new thread Any ideas? Edit: The threads are daemon Threads and the code is like: while True: t0 = time.time() keyword_statuses = DBSession.query(KeywordStatus).filter(KeywordStatus.status==0).options(joinedload(KeywordStatus.keyword)).with_lockmode("update").limit(100) if keyword_statuses.count() == 0: DBSession.commit() break for kw_status in keyword_statuses: kw_status.status = 1 DBSession.commit() t0 = time.time() w = SWorker(threads_no=32, network_server='http://192.168.1.242:8180/', keywords=keyword_statuses, cities=cities, saver=MySqlRawSave(DBSession), loglevel='debug') w.work() print 'finished' When the daemon threads are killed? When the application finishes or when the work() finishes? Look at the thread pool and the worker (it's from a recipe ) from Queue import Queue from threading import Thread, Event, current_thread import time event = Event() class Worker(Thread): """Thread executing tasks from a given tasks queue""" def __init__(self, tasks): Thread.__init__(self) self.tasks = tasks self.daemon = True self.start() def run(self): '''Start processing tasks from the queue''' while True: event.wait() #time.sleep(0.1) try: func, args, callback = self.tasks.get() except Exception, e: print str(e) return else: if callback is None: func(args) else: callback(func(args)) self.tasks.task_done() class ThreadPool: """Pool of threads consuming tasks from a queue""" def __init__(self, num_threads): self.tasks = Queue(num_threads) for _ in range(num_threads): Worker(self.tasks) def add_task(self, func, args=None, callback=None): ''''Add a task to the queue''' self.tasks.put((func, args, callback)) def wait_completion(self): '''Wait for completion of all the tasks in the queue''' self.tasks.join() def broadcast_block_event(self): '''blocks running threads''' event.clear() def broadcast_unblock_event(self): '''unblocks running threads''' event.set() def get_event(self): '''returns the event object''' return event

  • Mapping enum with fluent nhibernate

    - by Puneet
    I am following the http://wiki.fluentnhibernate.org/Getting%5Fstarted tutorial to create my first NHibernate project with Fluent NHibernate I have 2 tables 1) Account with fields Id AccountHolderName AccountTypeId 2) AccountType with fields Id AccountTypeName Right now the account types can be Savings or Current So the table AccountTypes stores 2 rows 1 - Savings 2 - Current For AccoutType table I have defined enum public enum AccountType { Savings=1, Current=2 } For Account table I define the entity class public class Account { public virtual int Id {get; private set;} public virtual string AccountHolderName {get; set;} public virtual string AccountType {get; set;} } The fluent nhibernate mappings are: public AgencyMap() { Id(o => o.Id); Map(o => o.AccountHolderName); Map(o => o.AccountType); } When I try to run the solution, it gives an exception - InnerException = {"(XmlDocument)(2,4): XML validation error: The element 'class' in namespace 'urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2' has incomplete content. List of possible elements expected: 'meta, subselect, cache, synchronize, comment, tuplizer, id, composite-id' in namespace 'ur... I guess that is because I have not speciofied any mapping for AccountType. The questions are: How can I use AccountType enum instead of a AccountType class? Maybe I am going on wrong track. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks!

  • How can I overlay images over one another in Java?

    - by Sam
    So I have been posting all over and have yet to get a solid answer: I have created an image resizing class, with a crop method. The cropping works great. The issue that I am having is the background color that I specify in the drawImage function of Graphics is not working correctly. It defaults to black as the background regardless of what I supply (in this case Color.WHITE). Also, the overlaying image or top most image (comes from a file) is being inverted (I think it is) or otherwise discolored. Just so you can conceptualize this a little bit better, I am taking a jpeg and overlaying it on top of a new BufferedImage, the new buffered image's background is not being set. Here is the code below that I am working with: public void Crop(int Height, int Width, int SourceX, int SourceY) throws Exception { //output height and width int OutputWidth = this.OutputImage.getWidth(); int OutputHeight = this.OutputImage.getHeight(); //create output streams ByteArrayOutputStream MyByteArrayOutputStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); MemoryCacheImageOutputStream MyMemoryCacheImageOutputStream = new MemoryCacheImageOutputStream(MyByteArrayOutputStream); //Create a new BufferedImage BufferedImage NewImage = new BufferedImage(Width, Height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB); Graphics MyGraphics = NewImage.createGraphics(); MyGraphics.drawImage(this.OutputImage, -SourceX, -SourceY, OutputWidth, OutputHeight, Color.WHITE, null); // Get Writer and set compression Iterator MyIterator = ImageIO.getImageWritersByFormatName("png"); if (MyIterator.hasNext()) { //get image writer ImageWriter MyImageWriter = (ImageWriter)MyIterator.next(); //get params ImageWriteParam MyImageWriteParam = MyImageWriter.getDefaultWriteParam(); //set outputstream MyImageWriter.setOutput(MyMemoryCacheImageOutputStream); //create new ioimage IIOImage MyIIOImage = new IIOImage(NewImage, null, null); //write new image MyImageWriter.write(null, MyIIOImage, MyImageWriteParam); } //convert output stream back to inputstream ByteArrayInputStream MyByteArrayInputStream = new ByteArrayInputStream(MyByteArrayOutputStream.toByteArray()); MemoryCacheImageInputStream MyMemoryCacheImageInputStream = new MemoryCacheImageInputStream(MyByteArrayInputStream); //resassign as a buffered image this.OutputImage = ImageIO.read(MyMemoryCacheImageInputStream); }

  • Is there a faster way to parse through a large file with regex quickly?

    - by Ray Eatmon
    Problem: Very very, large file I need to parse line by line to get 3 values from each line. Everything works but it takes a long time to parse through the whole file. Is it possible to do this within seconds? Typical time its taking is between 1 minute and 2 minutes. Example file size is 148,208KB I am using regex to parse through every line: Here is my c# code: private static void ReadTheLines(int max, Responder rp, string inputFile) { List<int> rate = new List<int>(); double counter = 1; try { using (var sr = new StreamReader(inputFile, Encoding.UTF8, true, 1024)) { string line; Console.WriteLine("Reading...."); while ((line = sr.ReadLine()) != null) { if (counter <= max) { counter++; rate = rp.GetRateLine(line); } else if(max == 0) { counter++; rate = rp.GetRateLine(line); } } rp.GetRate(rate); Console.ReadLine(); } } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine("The file could not be read:"); Console.WriteLine(e.Message); } } Here is my regex: public List<int> GetRateLine(string justALine) { const string reg = @"^\d{1,}.+\[(.*)\s[\-]\d{1,}].+GET.*HTTP.*\d{3}[\s](\d{1,})[\s](\d{1,})$"; Match match = Regex.Match(justALine, reg, RegexOptions.IgnoreCase); // Here we check the Match instance. if (match.Success) { // Finally, we get the Group value and display it. string theRate = match.Groups[3].Value; Ratestorage.Add(Convert.ToInt32(theRate)); } else { Ratestorage.Add(0); } return Ratestorage; } Here is an example line to parse, usually around 200,000 lines: 10.10.10.10 - - [27/Nov/2002:16:46:20 -0500] "GET /solr/ HTTP/1.1" 200 4926 789

  • How to make std::vector's operator[] compile doing bounds checking in DEBUG but not in RELEASE

    - by Edison Gustavo Muenz
    I'm using Visual Studio 2008. I'm aware that std::vector has bounds checking with the at() function and has undefined behaviour if you try to access something using the operator [] incorrectly (out of range). I'm curious if it's possible to compile my program with the bounds checking. This way the operator[] would use the at() function and throw a std::out_of_range whenever something is out of bounds. The release mode would be compiled without bounds checking for operator[], so the performance doesn't degrade. I came into thinking about this because I'm migrating an app that was written using Borland C++ to Visual Studio and in a small part of the code I have this (with i=0, j=1): v[i][j]; //v is a std::vector<std::vector<int> > The size of the vector 'v' is [0][1] (so element 0 of the vector has only one element). This is undefined behaviour, I know, but Borland is returning 0 here, VS is crashing. I like the crash better than returning 0, so if I can get more 'crashes' by the std::out_of_range exception being thrown, the migration would be completed faster (so it would expose more bugs that Borland was hiding).

  • Use continue or Checked Exceptions when checking and processing objects

    - by Johan Pelgrim
    I'm processing, let's say a list of "Document" objects. Before I record the processing of the document successful I first want to check a couple of things. Let's say, the file referring to the document should be present and something in the document should be present. Just two simple checks for the example but think about 8 more checks before I have successfully processed my document. What would have your preference? for (Document document : List<Document> documents) { if (!fileIsPresent(document)) { doSomethingWithThisResult("File is not present"); continue; } if (!isSomethingInTheDocumentPresent(document)) { doSomethingWithThisResult("Something is not in the document"); continue; } doSomethingWithTheSucces(); } Or for (Document document : List<Document> documents) { try { fileIsPresent(document); isSomethingInTheDocumentPresent(document); doSomethingWithTheSucces(); } catch (ProcessingException e) { doSomethingWithTheExceptionalCase(e.getMessage()); } } public boolean fileIsPresent(Document document) throws ProcessingException { ... throw new ProcessingException("File is not present"); } public boolean isSomethingInTheDocumentPresent(Document document) throws ProcessingException { ... throw new ProcessingException("Something is not in the document"); } What is more readable. What is best? Is there even a better approach of doing this (maybe using a design pattern of some sort)? As far as readability goes my preference currently is the Exception variant... What is yours?

  • Trying to find a PHP5 API-based embeddable CMS

    - by StrangeElement
    I've been making the rounds for a CMS that I can use as an API, in a sort of "embedded" mode. I mean by this that I don't want the CMS to do any logic or presentation. I want it to be used as an API, which I can then use within an existing site. I don't want to be tied to the architecture of the CMS. A good example of this is NC-CMS (http://www.nconsulting.ca/nc-cms/). All it needs is an include at the top, then wherever editable content is desired it's only a function call with a unique label. It's also perfect in the sense that it allows to differentiate between small strings (like titles, labels) and texts (which require a rich-text editor). It's the only CMS I found that fits this description, but it is a little too light as it does not handle site structure. I need to be able to allow my client to add pages, choosing an existing template for the layout. A minimal back-end is required. Wordpress also fits some requirements in that it handles only content editing and allows freedom for the themes by letting them call the content where and how they want it. But it is article-based and backwards, in that it embeds sites (as themes) within its structure, rather than being embeddable in sites like NC. It's funny how checking out all the CMS out there, almost all of them claim that most CMS are not self-sufficient, that they do not handle application logic, while (almost) every single on I found with only one exception do so. Many are mostly article-based blog engines, which does not fit my need. I would appreciate any CMS that fits the general description.

  • Issue calling superclass method in subclass constructor

    - by stormin986
    I get a NullPointerException calling a Superclass Method in Subclass Inner Class Constructor... What's the Deal? In my application's main class (subclass of Application), I have a public inner class that simply contains 3 public string objects. In the parent class I declare an object of that inner class. public class MainApplication extends Application { public class Data { public String x; public String y; public String z; } private Data data; MainApplication() { data = new Data() data.x = SuperClassMethod(); } } After I instantiate the object in the constructor, I get a runtime error when I try to assign a value in the inner class with a superclass method. Any idea what's up here?? Can you not call superclass methods in the subclass constructor? ** Edit ** Original question was about inner class member assignment in outer class constructor. Turned out the issue was with calling a superclass method in the class's constructor. It was giving me a null pointer exception. Thus, the question has changed.

  • coredata using old file version on device

    - by Martin KS
    This is a follow on from my previous problems here. Resetting the simulator solved all my troubles before, and I've gone on to complete my App. I now have the exact same problem when installing the app onto my iPhone device. It picks up an old version of my database, which doesn't have the second entity in it, and crashes when I try to access the second entity: 2010-04-22 23:52:18.860 albumCloud[135:207] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: '+entityForName: could not locate an NSManagedObjectModel for entity name 'Image'' 2010-04-22 23:52:18.874 albumCloud[135:207] Stack: ( 843263261, 825818644, 820669213, 20277, 844154820, 16985, 14633, 844473760, 844851728, 862896011, 843011267, 843009055, 860901832, 843738160, 843731504, 11547, 11500 ) terminate called after throwing an instance of 'NSException' I have two questions: 1) How on earth do I delete my app thoroughly enough from my phone that it removes the old data? (I've so far tried regular app deletion, deleting and then holding home and power for a reboot, cursing at and threatening the app while running it... everything) 2) How do I prevent this happening when my application is in the App store, and I for some reason decide that I want to add another entity to the store, or another attribute to the existing entities? is there an "if x doesn't exist then create it" method?

  • Check if file is locked or catch error for trying to open

    - by Duncan Matheson
    I'm trying to handle the problem where a user can try to open, with an OpenFileDialog, a file that is open by Excel. Using the simple FileInfo.OpenRead(), it chucks an IOException, "The process cannot access the file 'cakes.xls' because it is being used by another process." This would be fine to display to the user except that the user will actually get "Debugging resource strings are unavailable" nonsense. It seems not possible to open a file that is open by another process, since using FileInfo.Open(FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.ReadWrite) chucks a SecurityException, "File operation not permitted. Access to path 'C:\whatever\cakes.xls' is denied.", for any file. Rather unhelpful. So it's down to either finding some way of checking if the file is locked, or trying to catch the IOException. I don't want to catch all IOExceptions and assume they're all locked file errors, so I need some sort of way of classifying this type of exception as this error... but the "Debugging resource strings" nonsense along with the fact that that message itself is probably localized makes it tricky. I'm partial trust, so I can't use Marshal.GetHRForException. So: Is there any sensible way of either check if a file is locked, or at least determining if this problem occurred without just catching all IOExceptions?

  • Releasing Excel after using Interop

    - by figus
    Hi everyone I've read many post looking for my answer, but all are similar to this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1610743/reading-excel-files-in-vb-net-leaves-excel-process-hanging My problem is that I don't quit the app... The idea is this: If a User has Excel Open, if he has the file I'm interested in open... get that Excel instance and do whatever I want to do... But I don't to close his File after I'm done... I want him to keep working on it, the problem is that when he closes Excel... The process keeps running... and running... and running after the user closes Excel with the X button... this is how I try to do it This piece is used to know if he has Excel open, and in the For I check for the file name I'm interested in. Try oApp = GetObject(, "Excel.Application") libroAbierto = True For Each libro As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook In oApp.Workbooks If libro.Name = EquipoASeccionIdSeccion.Text & ".xlsm" Then Exit Try End If Next libroAbierto = False Catch ex As Exception oApp = New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application End Try here would be my code... if he hasn't Excel open, I create a new instance, open the file and everything else. My code ends with this: If Not libroAbierto Then libroSeccion.Close(SaveChanges:=True) oApp.Quit() Else oApp.UserControl = True libroSeccion.Save() End If System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.FinalReleaseComObject(libroOriginal) System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.FinalReleaseComObject(libroSeccion) System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.FinalReleaseComObject(origen) System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.FinalReleaseComObject(copiada) System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.FinalReleaseComObject(oApp) libroOriginal = Nothing libroSeccion = Nothing oApp = Nothing origen = Nothing copiada = Nothing nuevosGuardados = True So you can see that, if I opened the file, I call oApp.Quit() and everything else and the Excel Process ends after a few seconds (maybe 5 aprox.) BUT if I mean the user to keep the file open (not calling Quit()), Excel process keeps running after the user closes Excel with the X button. Is there any way to do what I try to do?? Control a open instance of excel and releasing everything so when the user closes it with the X button, the Excel Process dies normally??? Thanks!!!

  • SIGABRT on iPhone when changing xib

    - by Boz
    I've just finished off an app for the iPhone which, until today, ran fine on the iPhone simulator and actual devices. I tried changing the xib which is loaded in the applicationDidFinishLaunching method in my application delegate class - all I did was change the string in initWithNibName. When I launch the app on the simulator, the Default.png image is shown, then the app crashes with an uncaught exception. When running on a device, the Default.png image is shown for about 10 seconds, the UI is never loaded and I get 'GDB: Program received signal: "SIGABRT".' on the Xcode status bar. Debugging shows that applicationDidFinishLaunching is never actually reached before the app crashes. Setting the starting xib back to the original solves the issue, but now I've made a change and saved it in the Interface Builder and the app shows the same issues as above - I've made no code changes at all. Is this a memory issue, or a known issue of a common mistake? NOTE: I've made no code changes whatsoever, and the only changes I've made to the xib are cosmetic, the IBOutlets are all intact.

  • Persistant Http client connections in java

    - by Akusete
    I am trying to write a simple Http client application in Java and am a bit confused by the seemingly different ways to establish Http client connections, and efficiently re-use the objects. Current I am using the following steps (I have left out exception handling for simplicity) Iterator<URI> uriIterator = someURIs(); HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); while (uriIterator.hasNext()) { URI uri = uriIterator.next(); HttpGet request = new HttpGet(uri); HttpResponse response = client.execute(request); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); InputStream s = entity.getContent(); processStream (); s.close(); } In regard to the code above, my questions is: Assuming all URI's are pointing to the same host (but different resources on that host). What is the recommended way to use a single http connection for all requests? And how do you close the connection after the last request? --edit: Also what is the difference between using uri.openConnection(), versus HttpClient? Which is preferable, and what other methods exist?

  • Cheap cloning/local branching in Mercurial

    - by Zack
    Hi, Just started working with Mercurial a few days ago and there's something I don't understand. I have an experimental thing I want to do, so the normal thing to do would be to clone my repository, work on the clone and if eventually I want to keep those changes, I'll push them to my main repository. Problem is cloning my repository takes alot of time (we have alot of code) and just compiling the cloned copy would take up to an hour. So I need to somehow work on a different repository but still in my original working copy. Enter local branches. Problem is just creating a local branch takes forever, and working with them isn't all that fun either. Because when moving between local branches doesn't "revert" to the target branch state, I have to issue a hg purge (to remove files that were added in the moved from branch) and then hg update -c (to revert modified files in the moved from branch). (note: I did try PK11 fork of local branch extension, it a simple local branch creation crashes with an exception) At the end of the day, this is just too complex. What are my options?

  • How to combine multiple uiBinder-based widgets?

    - by jprusakova
    I need to insert a [number of] uiBinder-based widgets into another one, at a particular spot. The inserted widget has a somewhat complicated layout, so I am trying to define it in HTML. referencePanel.add(...) fails with NoSuchElement exception. reference.getElement().toSource returns "undefined". Any suggestions on how to do that? public class AppUIDemo extends Composite { @UiTemplate("AppUIDemo.ui.xml") interface AppUIDemoUiBinder extends UiBinder<Widget, AppUIDemo> { } @UiTemplate("ReferenceUI.ui.xml") interface ReferenceUIUiBinder extends UiBinder<Widget, ReferenceUI> { } private static AppUIDemoUiBinder uiBinder = GWT .create(AppUIDemoUiBinder.class); private static ReferenceUIUiBinder refUIBinder = GWT .create(ReferenceUIUiBinder.class); @UiField HTMLPanel referencePanel; public AppUIDemo() { initWidget(uiBinder.createAndBindUi(this)); ReferenceUI reference = new ReferenceUI(refUIBinder); referencePanel.add(reference, reference.getElement().getId()); } } public class ReferenceUI extends Composite { interface ReferenceUIUiBinder extends UiBinder<Widget,ReferenceUI> { } private static ReferenceUIUiBinder uiBinder = GWT .create(ReferenceUIUiBinder.class); public ReferenceUI() { initWidget(uiBinder.createAndBindUi(this)); } public CreditReferenceUI(final UiBinder<Widget, CreditReferenceUI> binder) { initWidget(binder.createAndBindUi(this)); } }

  • Given a date range how to calculate the number of weekends partially or wholly within that range?

    - by andybak
    Given a date range how to calculate the number of weekends partially or wholly within that range? (A few definitions as requested: take 'weekend' to mean Saturday and Sunday. The date range is inclusive i.e. the end date is part of the range 'wholly or partially' means that any part of the weekend falling within the date range means the whole weekend is counted.) To simplify I imagine you only actually need to know the duration and what day of the week the initial day is... I darn well now it's going to involve doing integer division by 7 and some logic to add 1 depending on the remainder but I can't quite work out what... extra points for answers in Python ;-) Edit Here's my final code. Weekends are Friday and Saturday (as we are counting nights stayed) and days are 0-indexed starting from Monday. I used onebyone's algorithm and Tom's code layout. Thanks a lot folks. def calc_weekends(start_day, duration): days_until_weekend = [5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 1, 6] adjusted_duration = duration - days_until_weekend[start_day] if adjusted_duration < 0: weekends = 0 else: weekends = (adjusted_duration/7)+1 if start_day == 5 and duration % 7 == 0: #Saturday to Saturday is an exception weekends += 1 return weekends if __name__ == "__main__": days = ['Mon', 'Tue', 'Wed', 'Thu', 'Fri', 'Sat', 'Sun'] for start_day in range(0,7): for duration in range(1,16): print "%s to %s (%s days): %s weekends" % (days[start_day], days[(start_day+duration) % 7], duration, calc_weekends(start_day, duration)) print

  • Reflecting over classes in .NET produces methods only differing by a modifier

    - by mrjoltcola
    I'm a bit boggled by something, I hope the CLR gearheads can help. Apparently my gears aren't big enough. I have a reflector utility that generates assembly stubs for Cola for .NET, and I find classes have methods that only differ by a modifier, such as virtual. Example below, from Oracle.DataAccess.dll, method GetType(): class OracleTypeException : System.SystemException { virtual string ToString (); virtual System.Exception GetBaseException (); virtual void set_Source (string value); virtual void GetObjectData (System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationInfo info, System.Runtime.Serialization.StreamingContext context); virtual System.Type GetType (); // here virtual bool Equals (object obj); virtual int32 GetHashCode (); System.Type GetType (); // and here } What is this? I have not been able to reproduce this with C# and it causes trouble for Cola as it thinks GetType() is a redefinition, since the signature is identical. My method reflector starts like this: static void DisplayMethod(MethodInfo m) { if ( // Filter out things Cola cannot yet import, like generics, pointers, etc. m.IsGenericMethodDefinition || m.ContainsGenericParameters || m.ReturnType.IsGenericType || !m.ReturnType.IsPublic || m.ReturnType.IsArray || m.ReturnType.IsPointer || m.ReturnType.IsByRef || m.ReturnType.IsPointer || m.ReturnType.IsMarshalByRef || m.ReturnType.IsImport ) return; // generate stub signature // [snipped] }

  • Unity IoC and MVC modelbinding

    - by danielovich
    Is it ok to have a static field in my controller for my modelbinder to call ? Eg. public class AuctionItemsController : Controller { private IRepository<IAuctionItem> GenericAuctionItemRepository; private IAuctionItemRepository AuctionItemRepository; public AuctionItemsController(IRepository<IAuctionItem> genericAuctionItemRepository, IAuctionItemRepository auctionItemRepository) { GenericAuctionItemRepository = genericAuctionItemRepository; AuctionItemRepository = auctionItemRepository; StaticGenericAuctionItemRepository = genericAuctionItemRepository; } internal static IRepository<IAuctionItem> StaticGenericAuctionItemRepository; here is the modelbinder public class AuctionItemModelBinder : DefaultModelBinder { public override object BindModel(ControllerContext controllerContext, ModelBindingContext bindingContext) { if (AuctionItemsController.StaticGenericAuctionItemRepository != null) { AuctionLogger.LogException(new Exception("controller is null")); } NameValueCollection form = controllerContext.HttpContext.Request.Form; var item = AuctionItemsController.StaticGenericAuctionItemRepository.GetSingle(Convert.ToInt32(controllerContext.RouteData.Values["id"])); item.Description = form["title"]; item.Price = int.Parse(form["price"]); item.Title = form["title"]; item.CreatedDate = DateTime.Now; item.AuctionId = 1; //TODO: Stop hardcoding this item.UserId = 1; return item; }} i am using Unity as IoC and I find it weird to register my modelbinder in the IoC container. Any other good design considerations I shold do ?

  • I am looking for an actual functional web browser control for .NET, maybe a C++ library

    - by Joshua
    I am trying to emulate a web browser in order to execute JavaScript code and then parse the DOM. The System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser object does not give me the functionality I need. It let's me set the headers, but you cannot set the proxy or clear cookies. Well you can, but it is not ideal and messes with IE's settings. I've been extending the WebBrowser control pinvoking native windows functions so far, but it is really one hack on top of another. I can mess with the proxy and also clear cookies and such, but this control has its issues as I mentioned. I found something called WebKit .NET (http://webkitdotnet.sourceforge.net/), but I don't see support for setting proxies or cookie manipulation. Can someone recommend a c++/.NET/whatever library to do this: Basically tell me what I need to do to get an interface to similar this in .NET: // this should probably pause the current thread for the max timeout, // throw an exception on failure or return null w/e, VAGUELY similar to this string WebBrowserEmu::FetchBrowserParsedHtml(Uri url, WebProxy p, int timeoutSeconds, byte[] headers, byte[] postdata); void WebBrowserEmu::ClearCookies(); I am not responsible for my actions.

  • How do I read a public twitter feed using .Net

    - by Jeff Weber
    I'm trying to read the public twitter status of a user so I can display it in my Windows Phone application. I'm using Scott Gu's example: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2010/03/18/building-a-windows-phone-7-twitter-application-using-silverlight.aspx When my code comes back from the async call, I get a "System.Security.SecurityException" as soon as I try to use the e.Result. I know my uri is correct because I can plop it in the browser and get good results. Here is my relavent code: public void LoadNewsLine() { WebClient twitter = new WebClient(); twitter.DownloadStringCompleted += new DownloadStringCompletedEventHandler(twitter_DownloadStringCompleted); twitter.DownloadStringAsync(new Uri("http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.xml?screen_name=krashlander")); } void twitter_DownloadStringCompleted(object sender, DownloadStringCompletedEventArgs e) { XElement xmlTweets = XElement.Parse(e.Result); //exception thrown here! var message = from tweet in xmlTweets.Descendants("status") select tweet.Element("text").Value; //Set message and tell UI to update. //NewsLine = message.ToString(); //RaisePropertyChanged("NewsLine"); } Any ideas anyone?

  • Trying to use HttpWebRequest to load a page in a file.

    - by Malcolm
    Hi, I have a ASP.NET MVC app that works fine in the browser. I am using the following code to be able to write the html of a retrieved page to a file. (This is to use in a PDF conversion component) But this code errors out continually but not in the browser. I get timeout errors sometimes asn 500 errors. Public Function GetPage(ByVal url As String, ByVal filename As String) As Boolean Dim request As HttpWebRequest Dim username As String Dim password As String Dim docid As String Dim poststring As String Dim bytedata() As Byte Dim requestStream As Stream Try username = "pdfuser" password = "pdfuser" docid = "docid=inv12154" poststring = String.Format("username={0}&password={1}&{2}", username, password, docid) bytedata = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(poststring) request = WebRequest.Create(url) request.Method = "Post" request.ContentLength = bytedata.Length request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" requestStream = request.GetRequestStream() requestStream.Write(bytedata, 0, bytedata.Length) requestStream.Close() request.Timeout = 60000 Dim response As HttpWebResponse Dim responseStream As Stream Dim reader As StreamReader Dim sb As New StringBuilder() Dim line As String = String.Empty response = request.GetResponse() responseStream = response.GetResponseStream() reader = New StreamReader(responseStream, System.Text.Encoding.ASCII) line = reader.ReadLine() While (Not line Is Nothing) sb.Append(line) line = reader.ReadLine() End While File.WriteAllText(filename, sb.ToString()) Catch ex As Exception MsgBox(ex.Message) End Try Return True End Function
