    I wrote a site using ASP.NET MVC, and although it is not completely SEO optimized at this point I figured it is a good start. What I'm finding is that when I use Google's Webmaster Tools to fetch my site (to see what a GoogleBot sees) it sees this.   • unusual backspace behavior in mac terminal

    I'm trying to figure out how to get ssh sessions to work how I want using the terminal app on mac os x. I'm used to using PuTTY on windows, where backspace means backspace. On mac when I press delete/backspace on mac it deletes the character following the cursor instead of the one before. I turned on Delete sends Ctrl + H, and that works most of the time, but sometimes it just shows on the screen as ^H this is typically at prompts from some custom python scripts on the box I log into. This doesn't happen with PuTTY on windows. Btw I'm logging into a Ubuntu Linux server running openssh. Any idea what I need to do so that backspace is consistently backspace.

  • Is there a problem with scrollTop in Chrome?

    I am setting scrollTop and scrollLeft for a div that I am working with. The code looks like this: div.scrollLeft = content.cx*scalar - parseInt(div.style.width)/2; div.scrollTop = content.cy*scalar - parseInt(div.style.height)/2; This works just fine in FF, but only scrollLeft works in chrome. As you can see, the two use almost identical equations and as it works in FF I am just wondering if this is a problem with Chrome?   • How to ajax load a parent-child listbox in JQuery/Asp.net MVC popup?

    hi guys, i'm new to the asp.net mvc. and i have a link which will popup show a 3 panes listbox which allows the user to select country, region and language. and when the user click on the language, this will redirect back to the controller and refresh the page and show the proper localized content. i was thinking of using a jquery dialog/modal to do this but so i try using fancybox for this which will load the hidden div of the three listbox up. unfortunately, on clicking on the first listbox, the page will call a jquery event which will show the populate the 2nd list box in which the lightbox will close. is there a better way to do this? or i'm not using the proper jquery plugin? i was thinking of putting the whole three panes inside a html file and do ajax call to get the content into that page and load the listbox like that and just use the html popup like a normal popup. Any suggestions? i'm stuck, help!!

    Hi, I want to put individual JComboBoxes into each cells of a JTable. ie. The JComboBox content is not identical for each cell. I basically would like to be able to just call the following code to add a row of JComboBox into the JTable. Anyone has any idea?     Hi, I've a scenario where I need to bind to an interface - in order to create the correct type, I've got a custom model binder that knows how to create the correct concrete type (which can differ). However, the type created never has the fields correctly filled in.   • Extra text shown on oveflow: hidden

    I'm keeping the main content area of the webpage small, so that footer navigation can be seen "above the fold". This is done by javascript setting the main content <div> thus: sec.style.height = '265px'; sec.style.overflow = 'hidden'; And then using javascript to insert a button to change the style back to normal: sec.style.height = 'auto'; The problem is that the cut-off point of 265px (dictated by the size of an image which I don't want to hide) doesn't quite match the gap between lines of text. This means that there the tops of tall letters show as funny little marks. Is there any way to hide text which is partially showing in a <div style="overflow: hidden;">?     I want to crawl useful resource (like background picture .. ) from certain websites. It is not a hard job, especially with the help of some wonderful projects like scrapy. The problem here is I not only just want crawl this site ONE TIME. I also want to keep my crawl long running and crawl the updated resource. So I want to know is there any good strategy for a web crawler to get updated pages? Here's a coarse algorithm I've thought of. I divided the crawl process into rounds. Each round URL repository will give crawler a certain number (like , 10000) of URLs to crawl. And then next round. The detailed steps are: crawler add start URLs to URL repository crawler ask URL repository for at most N URL to crawl crawler fetch the URLs, and update certain information in URL repository, like the page content, the fetch time and whether the content has been changed. just go back to step 2 To further specify that, I still need to solve following question: How to decide the "refresh-ness" of a web page, which indicates the probability that this web page has been updated ? Since that is an open question, hopefully it will brought some fruitful discussion here.

  • installed openstack using devstack install shell script but getting 500 error when i try opening dashboard

    I followed the instructions at http://devstack.org/guides/single-machine.html to install OpenStack. I first installed Ubuntu on my Windows 7 PC using the officially supported Windows installer for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. And after that I followed the instructions at above page to install OpenStack. As per instructions, I should be able to access the dashboard aka Horizon, at http://192.168.1.4/ (thats the IP of the PC on which I installed Ubuntu-OpenStack). However I am getting a 500 error web page when I open that. How do I resolve this error? I want to set up a dev environment for OpenStack.     I am trying to implement sharing a simple string inside my application. Obviously everything other than Facebook works. As far as I know, now I have to use their Facebook SDK to post statuses on a wall. However, if I do implement it using their SDK, is there a way to have it incorporated into the chooser (default or ShareActionProvider) and somehow override it and insert the Facebook SDK's implementation?     I am trying to put second language on my webpage. I decided to use different files for different languages told apart by path - language/pl/projects.ln contains Polish text, language/en/projects.ln - English. Those extensions are just to tell language files from other, the content is simple php: $lang["desc"]["fabrics"]["title"] = "MATERIALY"; $lang["desc"]["fabrics"]["short_text"] = "Jakis tam tekst na temat materialów"; $lang["desc"]["services"]["title"] = "USLUGI"; $lang["desc"]["services"]["short_text"] = "Jakis tam tekst na temat uslóg"; And then on the index page I use it like so: session_start(); if (isset($_SESSION["lang"])) { $language = $_SESSION["lang"]; } else { $language = "pl"; } include_once("language/$language/projects.ln"); print $lang["desc"]["fabrics"]["title"]; The problem is that if the session variable is not set everything works fine and array item content is displayed but once I change and set $_SESSION["lang"] nothing is displayed. I tested if the include itself works as it should by putting print "sth"; at the beginning of projects.ln file and that works all right both with $_SESSION["lang"] set and unset. Please help.

    I want to implement infinite scrolling (with an AJAX-based loader) in an HTML table body. My HTML looks something like this: <table> <thead> <tr><th>Column</th></tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr><td>Row 1</td></tr> <tr><td>Row 2</td></tr> </tbody> </table> I get a scroll bar on the <tbody> like so: tbody { height:10em; /* Otherwise the tbody expands to fit all rows */ overflow:auto; } To be able to do anything when the user scrolls to the bottom, I need to be able to get the scroll position of the <tbody>. In all of the (jQuery) infinite scroll implementations I've seen (such as this one), they subtract the content height from the container height and compare it to the .scrollTop() value. Unfortunately this may not work with <tbody>, which is both the viewport and the container for the scrolled content. $("tbody").height() returns the viewable (ie: "shrunken") size, but I don't know how I can get the full (viewable + hidden) size of the table body. (FWIW, $("tbody").scrollTop() returns a "large" number when scrolled to the bottom, exactly as I would expect it to). Is there any way to accomplish this?

  • Multiple "pages" in GWT with human friendly URLs

    Hi. I'm playing with a GWT/GAE project which will have three different "pages", although it is not really pages in a GWT sense. The top views (one for each page) will have completely different layouts, but some of the widgets will be shared. One of the pages is the main page which is loaded by the default url (http://www.site.com), but the other two needs additional URL information to differentiate the page type. They also need a name parameter, (like http://www.site.com/project/project-name. There are at least two solutions to this that I'm aware of. Use GWT history mechanism and let page type and parameters (such as project name) be part of the history token. Use servlets with url-mapping patterns (like /project/*) The first choice might seem obvious at first, but it has several drawbacks. First, a user should be able to easily remember and type URL directly to a project. It is hard to produce a human friendly URL with history tokens. Second, I'm using gwt-presenter and this approach would mean that we need to support subplaces in one token, which I'd rather avoid. Third, a user will typically stay at one page, so it makes more sense that the page information is part of the "static" URL. Using servlets solves all these problems, but also creates other ones. So my first questions is, what is the best solution here? If I would go for the servlet solution, new questions pop up. It might make sense to split the GWT app into three separate modules, each with an entry point. Each servlet that is mapped to a certain page would then simply forward the request to the GWT module that handles that page. Since a user typically stays at one page, the browser only needs to load the js for that page. Based on what I've read, this solution is not really recommended. I could also stick with one module, but then GWT needs to find out which page it should display. It could either query the server or parse the URL itself. If I stick with one GWT module, I need to keep the page information stored on server side. Naturally I thought about sessions, but I'm not sure if its a good idea to mix page information with user data. A session usually lives between user login and logout, but in this case it would need different behavior. Would it be bad practise to handle this via sessions? The one GWT module + servlet solution also leads to another problem. If a user goes from a project page to the main page, how will GWT know that this has happened? The app will not be reloaded, so it will be treated as a simple state change. It seems rather ineffecient to have to check page info for every state change. Anyone care to guide me out of the foggy darkness that surrounds me? :-)

Opened page says I need browser supporting cookies (or turned on).   • Crawler do not create custom crawled properties

    These days i have faced with very strange problem. I have development environment with MOSS 2007 SP 2 and WS 2008, i have search configured and everything works great. I have started to configuring staging environment (MOSS 2007 SP2 with June CU) and create new farm and new SSP. I have deployed my changes with package (wsp) and manually create site collections, sub webs, pages and so on. When fill crawl finishes, i see in Crawl log that all my pages have been successfully crawled and when i use some test tools to query search, my pages have been found. In crawl log there is few errors like http://mysite/sites/de/pages "The crawler could not communicate with the server. Check that the server is available and that the firewall access is configured correctly..", but all pages in this Page library were indexed. The problem is that i use custom managed properties (mapped to custom crawled properties) in search queries, but crawler didn't create crawled properties for all my new site columns. For example for site column IsAccent the crawler didn't create cralwed property ows_isAccesnt. I'm sure that i have created pages for specific content type and all my crawl categories have checked "Automatically discover new properties when a crawl takes place ". In site settings - Searchable columns i haven't got any column selected as Nocrowl. I tried to export my managed and crawled properties from dev environment to stage evironment but all my managed properties were empty, after that i recreated SSP...the result was the same... I checked specific page with tools like Sharepoint Manager 2007 and U2U Caml Query Builder 2007 that content type is correct, and i can see values of my custom site collumns.... Using U2U Caml Query Builder 2007 agains some Page library in Result tab i can see ows_IsAccent (my site collumn is IsAccent) and others site columns, but i can't find them in Crawled properties. Any idias?

  • Why updatepanel triggers another updatepanel?

    I have two update panels at my ajax page. This is first time I'm using updatepanel and I don't know what is wrong. I think only btnFilter's Click event must trigger the second update panel's content but changing combo values (which also hides/unhides btnFilter button) makes second updatepanel change content (at least I see transferred data with firebug & second updatepanel blinks sometimes).
