• Deleting a partition on dual boot

  I have split my C:\ physical disk into 3 seperate partitions: C, H, and K. C has my original OS and is the active partition, H has another OS (dual boot), and K has song files. I want to keep the other OS (Windows Server) and when I am in this OS, I can't delete C ("Windows cannot format this partition"). What is the best way for me to get rid of C, keep all the songs intact, and the Server OS partition, so I replace C with another OS, and then get rid of the original Windows Server OS (So revert the dual boot to a single boot).

  Hello all, I just got help in how to compile this script a few mintues ago on SO but I have managed to get errors. I am only a beginner in C++ and have no idea what the below erros means or how to fix it. This is the script in question. • Client side certificates in client browsers with unix server for management

  We are currently running Unix dedicated servers for everything (Web cluster, database, FTP, batch, ...) except for a Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services. The sole purpose of this Windows box is to provide client side certificates to our clients browsers. All our clients are required to install a client side certificate on order for them to be able to access our website. Is there an alternative in the Unix space? The purpose is to make sure only the approved hardware of an approved client can access our website. I'm open for any solution that provides me with this level of security. We are however talking about thousands of certified computers just so you can factor that in in a proposed solution. Optionally we would also like to be able to revoke access. With Regards.

• Cisco ASA 5505 inside interface multiple ip addresses

  I have an issue this morning where I want to be able to assign multiple ip addresses to the inside interface to facilitate an ip range migration for an office. Namely from a 192.168.1.x range to the new range, with the minimum of interruption for those working in the office. (New DHCP leases will use the new range, whilst those still on the 192.168.1.x range can continue to work until their lease is renewed). However I can not for the life of me figure out how to achieve this, trying to create multiple interfaces for the job leads to complaints about the license only allowing 2 active interfaces. Any suggestions? thanks in advance.

• Recurring network issues the same time every day.

  Something has been happening on my company's network at 9:30 every day. I'm not the sysadmin but he's not a ServerFault guy so I'm not privy to every aspect of the network but I can ask questions if follow up is needed. The symptoms are the following : Sluggish network and download speed (I don't notice it, but others do) 3Com phones start ringing without having people on the other end. We've got the following ports exposed to the public for a web server, a few other ports for communicating with our clients for tech support and a VPN. We've got a Cisco ASA blocking everything else. We've got a smallish network (less than 50 computers/vms on at any time). An Active Directory server and a few VM servers. We host our own mail server too. I'm thinking the problem is internal, but what's a good way to figure out where it's coming from?

  I just finished my first PHP site and now I have a security-related question. I used PEAR:DB for the database connection and made a separate parameter file for it. How should I hide this parameter file? I found a guide (http://www.kitebird.com/articles/peardb.html) that says: Another way to specify connection parameters is to put them in a separate file that you reference from your main script. ... It also enables you to move the parameter file outside of the web server's document tree, which prevents its contents from being displayed literally if the server becomes misconfigured and starts serving PHP scripts as plain text. I have now put my file in a directory like this /include/db_parameters.inc However, if I go to this URL, the web server shows me the contents of the file including my database username and password. From what I've understood, I should protect this file so, that even though PHP would be served as text, nobody could read this. What does outside of web server's document tree mean here? Put the PHP file out of public_html directory altogether deeper into the server file system? Some CHMOD?

• Program freezing when syncing a ldap database (100+ entries added)

  Hey guys, I'm updating a ldap database. I need to add a list of users to the db. I've written a simple foreach loop. There are about 180 users i need to add, but at the 128th user, the program freezes. I know ldap is really used for querying (fast), and that adding and modifying entries will not go as smooth as a search query, but is it normal that the program freezes while doing this? • Git and cloning

  Hi all! I have done an app for a client called 'A' (not really). I have found out that it is very cool and that I want to sell it to other clients also. The directory 'A' is a Git repository. I think I have a problem with cloning it. As far as I can see I need to make a copy of the dir 'A' and call it 'Generic_A'. Then delete the dir 'A' and do a "git clone Generic_A A" Then I could start changing the 'Generic_A'-repo with a generic design and all client references removed. But that is kind of the other way around. I should have started doing the generic design and then cloned the repo to change to the client specific design. Can I: make a new branch do all the changes to make the design generic create a patch that reflects the changes between the two remove the client specific branch rename the directory to 'Generic_A' clone the repo to a new dir 'A' apply the patch to get the client specific stuff back And if yes - how do I make the patch and apply it?   Alright, I'm trying to make an AJAX Chat system that polls the chat database every 400ms. That part is working, the part of which isn't is the Active User List. When I try to combine the two requests, the first two requests are made, then the whole thing snowballs and the usually timed (12 second) Active User List request starts updating every 1ms and the first request NEVER happens again. • "System call failed" error when trying to open "My Computer" etc. under the Start menu! What is happening?

  When I go to the start menu I can load program icons but if I click on Documents, My Pictures, My Computer, Default Programs...all the options on the right part--I get "System call failed". How do I solve ths? Is my HD failing? Also, I don't know if it's connected but yesterday my uTorrent stopped working in a way it has never done before. I'm not able to download torrent files. In the program I get "socket unreacheable..." Also, for the last 2 days my internet has been super-slow. I checked Kaspersky for viruses. It says: "No active threats". Windows 7 64-bit.

• Apache console accesses network drives, service does not?

  I have an apache 2.2 server running Django. We have a network drive T: which we need constant access to within our Django app. When running Apache as a service, we cannot access this drive, as far as any django code is concerned the drive does not exist. If I add... <Directory "t:/"> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride None Order allow,deny allow from all </Directory> to the httpd.conf file the service no longer runs, but I can start apache as a console and it works fine, Django can find the network drive and all is well. Why is there a difference between the console and the service? Should there be a difference? I have the service using my own log on so in theory it should have the same access as I do. I'm keen to keep it running as a service as it's far less obtrusive when I'm working on the server (unless there's a way to hide the console?). Any help would be most appreciated.

• Why are my downloads up to ~1500KByte/sec only, when the ADSL connection locks at 13611Kbit/s?

  No uploading is going on other than the overhead of downloading which appears to be not high for the abilities of the connection: Only about 30-40KByte/s when the router locks at 1012Kb/s and other direct uploads or uploading overheads can reach more than 100KByte/sec so I don't think it's a congestion at uploading that is doing it. Is there something I miss? Because I assume 13611Kbit/s should be ~1701Kbyte/sec. Is it an overheard at the ADSL level I don't understand? Could it be the ISP doing it? If it's active throttling it can't be on single connections since 2 high speed connections still go up to ~1500KByte/sec. It's not an example on torrents or other complex situations. The tests were on Ethernet, but I doubt the results would be different on wireless. I wonder if the settings of those connections at my end could be doing it, e.g. MTU settings, though I haven't touched the defaults of a common Realtek NIC.

  hello all i'm having a bear of a time getting visual studio 2010 (ultimate i think) to properly attach to my database. it was moved from original spot to #MYAPP#/#MYAPP#.Web/App_Data/#MDF_FILE#.mdf. I have three instances of sql server running on this machine. i have tried to replace the old mdf file with my new one and cannot get the connectionstring right for it. what i'm really wanting to do is to just open some DB instance, run a DB create script. Then I can have a DB that was generated via my edmx (generate database from model) in silverlight business application (c#) right now, when i go to server explorer in VS, choose add new connection, choose MS SQL Server Database FIle (SqlClient), choose my file location (app_data directory), use windows authentication, and hit the Test Connection button I get the following error: Unable to open the physical file "". Operating system error 5: "5(Access Denied.)". An attempt to attach to an auto-named database for file"" failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share. The mdf file was created on the same machine by connecting to (local) on the sql server management studio, getting a new query, pasting in the SQL from the generated ddl file, adding a CREATE DATABASE [NcrCarDatabase]; GO before the pasted SQL, and executing the query. I then disconnected from the DB in management studio, closed management studio, navigated to the DATA directory for that instance, and copying the mdf and ldf files to my application's app_data folder. I am then trying to connect to the same file inside visual studio. I hope that gives more clarity to my problems :). Connection string is: Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=C:\SourceCode\NcrCarDatabase\NcrCarDatabase.Web\App_Data\NcrCarDatabase.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True

• process running on login: can't find in AD or login batch scripts

  Hallo, I'm trying to deploy some classroom control software (NetSupport School) to some of the machines on our network but for some reason when you log off and restart the computer any user who logs on ends up re-installing the software while logging on. I spent two hours on the phone to the complanys support and we eventually nailed it down to most likely a setting in Active Directory or in the login.bat (drive mapping and settings) but we can't find anything in those that would say "run this installer at logon". Is there anywhere else on the system that would set something like this? Server 2003/XP. Ta!

  I have a library of classes, all interrelated. Some files are inside the document root and some are outside using the <Directory> and Alias features in httpd.conf Assuming I have 3 files: webroot.php (Inside the document root) alias_directory.php (Inside a folder outside the doc root) alias_directory2.php (Inside a **different** folder outside the doc root) If alias_directory2.php needs both webroot.php and alias_directory.php, This does not work. (Remember alias_directory.php and alias_directory2.php are not in the same locations) require_once $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/webroot.php'; //(ok) require_once $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/alias_directory.php'; //(not ok) This does not work because alias_directory.php is not in the doc root. Similarly require_once $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/webroot.php'; //(ok) require_once dirname(__FILE__).'/alias_directory.php'; //(not ok) The problem here is that dirname(__FILE__) will return the path for alias_directory2.php not alias_directory.php. This works: require_once $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/webroot.php'; //(ok) require_once '/full/path/to/directory/alias_directory.php'; //(ok) But is very nasty and is a maintenance nightmare if I decide to move my library to another location. How do I solve this problem, is seems that I need a way to resolve an Alias folder properly.

  Ive created a new thread for a file browser. The thread reads the contents of a directory. What I want to do is update the UI thread to draw a graphical representation of the files and folders. I know I can't update the UI from within a new thread so what I want to do is: whilst the file scanning thread iterates through a directories files and folders pass a file path string back to the UI thread.   I'm looking for the get_called_class() equivalent for __FILE__ ... Maybe something like get_included_file()? I have a set of classes which would like to know what directory they exist in. After all, we're talking about PHP 5.3, right? Isn't this supposed to be the future? Is there another way to get the path to the file where a class was declared?

• word 2010 Macro to name and Save file when opened

  I have a word document template and will be using a hyper link in Excel to access the word file. The issue I need to resolve is making sure once it is opened a message field box is "popped" up asking the user to create a new file name ... (in this case the current date) for each time the file is opened. In the message pop when finished entering in file name they click yes and then the save screen comes up with the path/file type (macro enabled document) and the file name they have already entered in the pop up.. All they should have to do from the save screen is click ok and it saves the file to a certain path/folder on the C drive of the computer. Once they finish typing in their notes they click a active x button to save and close and they are finished. If anyone can help with this it would be fantastic.

  Windows Copying is a real mess ever since Windows Vista. Even Microsoft claims they've improved the performance, from a user perspective, it's not quite visible. Even with single file the copying window appears too much time for 'Calculating' and then finishing the copy(Even after 100% completion some times the dialog remains active). At the same time, I was backing up some files in Ubuntu Linux. I felt it's really fast. Might be a feeling caused by faster UI updates. I read an informative post from Jeff Atwood few years back on Windows File Copying. but what my specific questions are Is (Ubuntu) Linux file performance is better than Windows-7? Are both algorithms, Windows and Linux is making use of multiple threads and pipelining mechanism to improve the speed? If yes, which one is better?

  As per subject. I've found some ways of scripting printer creation on Windows print servers using WMI, but it looks like WMI doesn't support clustered print servers (or clustered servers at all). The scripts in C:\Windows\System32\Printing_Admin_Scripts are useless because, they are not cluster-aware and end up creating the printers on the active cluster node (just like using WMI). The only tool I found that was able to work on a clustered print server is printui.exe (shortcut for rundll32 printui.dll, PrintUIEntry), but it can't create TCP printing ports: it can only add printers if the port already exists. How can I completely script printer creation (including TCP printing ports!) on a clustered Windows Server 2008 R2 print server?

  I use the folding option of vim quite a lot, and have usually set foldmethod to syntax. Recently I discovered that it is possible to add custom folds, such that I can put whole blocks in /*{{{*/ and /*}}}*/ which is very useful for grouping large sections of a source file together. However to use that feature I need to set foldmethod to marker, and I loose the syntax folding. Is it possible to have two active foldmethods at the same time in vim? set foldmethod=syntax,marker does not work.

How can I get a handle to the webroot programmatically so that i can place the resultant file there and then return the public URL? I can tack on the domain name after the fact without issue so if it only returns the relative path to the file that's fine. Thanks, brian

The team also has 3 sub-calendars for the different team members. Other people in the office need to be able to access this team's calendar. They can go to Open Calendar in Outlook and see the main calendar, but they cannot see the sub-calendars. The sub-calendars all have the Default user permissions set to Reviewer. If you go to File → Account Settings → Change [logged in Exchange account] → More Settings → Advanced and add the team's mailbox, it does show the calendars in Outlook, but it comes up under My Calendars instead of Shared Calendars. We need to be able to go to Open Calendar and open the calendar and open all the sub-calendars this way. How is this possible?
