    hi all, in the case of an IM client. i have made 2 separate threads to handle sending packets (by std io) and receiving packets. the question is how to make these 2 threads run simultaneously so that i can keep prompting for input while at the same time be ready to receive packets at any time? i have already tried setting a timer but the data is always lost receiving.

Please comment on apache if you think nginx etc. is more suitable. Thanks.

Could someone help me find a function which will return a FILE* and use the Windows specific version of mkdir in order to create the folder structure for fopen to never fail to open a new file in the specified location because one of the folders does not exist.     I'm trying to write a store procedure that can take some input parameters (obviously), run multiple queries against those, taking the output from those and doing calculations, and from those calculations and the original queries, outputting a formatted text string like: Number of Rows for max(Z) matching condition x and y of total rows matching x (x&y/x*100). To explain the max(Z) bit, this will be the username field, it won't matter which actual entry is picked, because the where clause will filter the results by user id, is there a saner way to do this?

It would make sense because functions like string::replace or string::insert take iterators as input, so you could find some character and immediately pass the returned iterator to replace, etc. Also, std::find returns an iterator -- why is std::string::find different?

  • Java code compression and decompression of a string

    I am having a problem figuring how to check a string for the same characters in a row then count that same character in a row then printing it out then giving the location of the last occorance of that character count then printing it out then moving to the next character in the string that is different then the previous character and the program is case sensitive. So the input could be: aaaaAAAbbbddccc How would I compress this string to: a4A3b3d2c3 ? and then decompress it?

A view that allows you to input integers (and only integers) that you can limit (between 1 and 10 for example), where you can use the keyboard or the arrows in the view itself. Does it exists? It is for a dialog. A ready-made dialog to request an integer would also help.
