  Hi, I work in VBA, and want to parse a string eg <PointN xsi:type='typens:PointN' xmlns:xsi='<http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance>' xmlns:xs='<http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema>'><X>24.365</X><Y>78.63</Y></PointN> and get the X & Y values into two separate integer variables. I'm a newbie when it comes to XML, since I'm stuck in VB6 and VBA, because of the field I work in. How do I do this?

• Changing stylesheet href with jQuery doesn't quite work

  I'm creating a web app that user will be accessing in the field, so they'd like to be able to manually toggle the styles from light to dark depending on the ambient lighting. I'm using jQuery. I added an id attribute to my stylesheet, then created a button using the toggle() event, in which I change the href attribute to the CSS file I want. The CSS file has several @import directives as I split the styles into several files for maintainability. My problem is only the main CSS file is being applied. I tried using the absolute path in the @import directives, but no luck. Is there a fix here I'm missing, or do I have to inlcude everything in a single CSS file? Edit: Apprently this is only a problem in IE8, works fine in Chrome and Firefox. Unfortunately, my client wants only IE8. Looks like this is a duplicate of this question.

A request to a REST web service developed using Apache CXF and Spring MVC with MySQL as back end serving references(a field in database) to images,audio and video files stored in file system. In the response message, what is the best method to send the content to the client(another application using the service which I developed). URI: http://www.filmservices.com/film/{id} A client here is not the end user. Send the encoded hyperlink's(where the content is stored in the file system) to the client, so that the client renders the response and displays it to the browser. Use Base64 to encode the message(image,audio,video) and send it to the client. Main concern is performance.

  I'm training code problems, and on this one I am having problems to solve it, can you give me some tips how to solve it please. The problem is something like this: Your task is to find the sequence of points on the map that the bomber is expected to travel such that it hits all vital links. A link from A to B is vital when its absence isolates completely A from B. In other words, the only way to go from A to B (or vice versa) is via that link. Notice that if we destroy for example link (d,e), it becomes impossible to go from d to e,m,l or n in any way. A vital link can be hit at any point that lies in its segment (e.g. a hit close to d is as valid as a hit close to e). Of course, only one hit is enough to neutralize a vital link. Moreover, each bomb affects an exact circle of radius R, i.e., every segment that intersects that circle is considered hit. Due to enemy counter-attack, the plane may have to retreat at any moment, so the plane should follow, at each moment, to the closest vital link possible, even if in the end the total distance grows larger. Given all coordinates (the initial position of the plane and the nodes in the map) and the range R, you have to determine the sequence of positions in which the plane has to drop bombs. This sequence should start (takeoff) and finish (landing) at the initial position. Except for the start and finish, all the other positions have to fall exactly in a segment of the map (i.e. it should correspond to a point in a non-hit vital link segment). The coordinate system used will be UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) northing and easting, which basically corresponds to a Euclidian perspective of the world (X=Easting; Y=Northing). Input Each input file will start with three floating point numbers indicating the X0 and Y0 coordinates of the airport and the range R. The second line contains an integer, N, indicating the number of nodes in the road network graph. Then, the next N (<10000) lines will each contain a pair of floating point numbers indicating the Xi and Yi coordinates (1 No two links will ever cross with each other. Output The program will print the sequence of coordinates (pairs of floating point numbers with exactly one decimal place), each one at a line, in the order that the plane should visit (starting and ending in the airport).   I need to generate a mass mailing based on a word document model with PHP. Given is a database with the adresses and the data that need to be filled in my word model. I want to generate a single word document with the different adresses and field contents from the database. We have a Linux server and the COM object is not avalaible. Is there a ready to use class to do this? Did you had any experiance with PHPWord? What is the best practice in this case? In the ideal case the client should just upload th word master document, with the fields that need to be filled and then fusioned to a multiple pages word document containing the whole mailing.

• Converting a date string which is before 1970 into a timestamp in MySQL.

  Not a very good title, so my apologies. For some reason, (i wasn't the person who did it, i digress) we have a table structure where the field type for a date is varchar. (odd). We have some dates, such as: 1932-04-01 00:00:00 and 1929-07-04 00:00:00 I need to do a query which will convert these date strings into a unix time stamp, however, in my sql if you convert a date which is before 1970 it will return 0. Any ideas? Thanks so much! EDIT: Wrong date format. ooops.

• Cron expressions: leading zeros ok?

  A quartz-scheduled process did not kick off last evening. The only thing that looks like it MIGHT be off is that, in one entry: 0 00 23 13,15 APR ? The "minutes" field is specified as a 2-digit 00 rather than a single-digit 0. I can't find any definitive cron documentation saying whether or not this would cause a problem. I can't test it again until the off-hours. Anyone know for sure if this could be a problem? if so, it's rather a silly one.

• NHibernate: Can I access a generated primary key after saving a model?

  Howdy, So I've got a simple table with an ID field that's incrementally generated on INSERT. I've set the mapping up in NHibernate to reflect this: <id name="ID"> <generator class="identity" /> </id> And it all works fine. Trouble is, I need to get the generated ID after I've saved a new model to use elsewhere: var model = new MyModel(); session.SaveOrUpdate(model); But at this stage model.ID == null, not the ID. Any ideas? Anthony

  I have a situation similar to the following question: Insert Data Into SQL Table Where my scenario differs is that I have a non-auto-incrementing primary key field that can have a range between 1000 and 1999. We only have about a hundred values in it thus far, but the maximum value has already been taken (1999), and there are gaps in the numbering sequence. Thus, I need to find a value that is between 1000-1999 and not taken. For instance, if my current values are, for example, 1000, 1001, 1003, and 1999, I would want the query to return 1002.

• Is it okay if my ViewModel 'creates' bindable user controls for my View?

  I have an entry-point View with a tab control. Each tab is going to have a user control embedded within it. Each embedded view inherits from the same base class and will need to be updated as a key field on the entry-point view is updated. I'm thinking the easiest way to design this page is to have the entry-point ViewModel create and expose a collection of the tabbed views so the entry-point View can just bind to the user control elements using a DataTemplate on the tab control. Is it okay for a ViewModel to instantiate and provide UI elements for its View?

• django - order query set by postgres function

  My initial question was here and was related to the postgres backend. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2408965/postgres-subquery-ordering-by-subquery Now my problem has moved onwards to the Django ORM layer. I essentially want to order a query by a postgres function ('idx', taken from the above stackoverflow work) I've gone through trying to use model.objects.extra(order_by ) or simply order_by but I believe both of these need the order_by parameter to be an attribute or a field known to Django. I'm trying to think how to solve this without having to revert to using an entirely raw SQL query through a model manager.

• MVC Custom Model Binder Binding Multiple Values

  Hello everyone, I have a scenario in which I have multiple sources to bind to my model. For one, I have a view tied to a strongly-typed model, but this scenario also entails posting data to this view from a 3rd party site. Essentially, what I believe I am after in the custom model binding is to investigate the form values in the Request object within HTTPContext to see if I have a field such as "postedFirstName". If so, I want to bind that value instead of the textbox "FirstName" in my view. I've done a good bit of searching but have not find anything that exactly addresses such a scenario. • Doctrine SQL Server uniqueidentifier isn't cast as char or nvarchar when retrieved from the database

  When I retrieve a record from the database which has a column of type "uniqueidentifier", Doctrine fills it with "null" rather than the unique id from the database. Some research and testing has brought this down to a PDO/dblib driver issue. When directly querying via PDO, null is returned in place of the unique id. For reference, http://trac.doctrine-project.org/ticket/1096, has a bit on this, however, it was updated 11 months ago with no comment for resolution. A way around this, as mentioned at http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=24752&edit=1, is to cast the column as a char. However, it doesn't seem Doctrine exposes the native field type outside of generating models which makes it a bit hard to detect uniqueidentifier types and cast them internally when building the sql query. Has anyone found a workaround for this?

  I'm in the process of writing a small php-cli script that will loop over over my personal inbox and then send me an SMS via a gateway. The question I have is: As will have the script launch via cron every 10 minutes, if there is an email sitting in my inbox that is not read before the next script launch then I will receive 2 sms. Does any one (pseudocode will do) have any idea what the best practice would be in php5 to ensure only 1 SMS is sent? What I am currently learning towards is towards storing the message ID in a sqlite DB and flagging a field whether an SMS has been sent or not - but wondering if there is an easier way?

  In propel there is this doUpdate function, that will return the numbers of affected rows by this query. The question is, if there is no need to update the row ( because the set value is already the same as the field value), will those rows counted as the affected row? Take for example, I have the following table: ID | Name | Books 1 | S1oon | Me 2 | S1oon | Me Let's assume that I write a ORM function of the equivalent of the following query: update `new table` set Books='Me' where Name='S1oon'; What will the doUpdate result return? Will it return 0 ( because all the Books column are already Me, hence there is no need to update), or will it be 2 ( because there are 2 rows that fulfill the where condition) ?

  Hi, *************EDIT********** i am using ODBC and found that can not read more than 4096 for a field Any suggestions *************EDIT************ i am reading an image from db $image=$row["image-contents"]; Now try to write the file to disk $image_name="test.jpg"; $file = fopen( "images/".$image_name, "w" ); fwrite( $file, $image); fclose( $file ); The problem is that the file created is only 4096 bytes and the image file is corrupt because $image is larger than 4096. I now that fwrite use blocks for write but i dont know how do it. Help plz!

  I need to run a Select statement (DB2 SQL) that does not pull adjacent row duplicates based on a certain field. In specific, I am trying to find out when data changes, which is made difficult because it might change back to its original value. That is to say, I have a table that vaguely resembles: A, 5, Jan A, 12, Feb A, 12, Mar A, 12, Apr A, 9, May A, 9, Jun A, 5, Jul And I want to get the results: A, 5, Jan A, 12, Feb A, 9, May A, 5, Jul discarding adjacent duplicates but keeping the last row. The obvious: Select Letter, Number, Min(Month) from Table group by Letter, Number does not work -- it doesn't include the last row.

• Database design: How should I add an information which can apply to several tables

  I am constructing a database System using Mysql, this will be an application of about 20 tables. The system contains information on farmers, we work with organic certification and need to record a lot of info for that. In my system, there are related parent-child tables for farmers, producing years and fields/areas - it's a simple representation of the real world in which farmers farm crops on their fields. I now need to add several status flags for each one of these levels: a farmer can be certified, or his field can be, or the specific year can be; each of these flags has several states and can occur a number of times. The obvious solution to this would be to add a child table to every one of these tables, and define the states there. What I wonder if there is an easier way to do this to avoid getting to many tables? Where/how would be best practise to keep that data?

• Processing variable number of form fields

  I am working on a form which displays information about orders. Each order has a unique id, but they are not necessarily sequential on the form. Also, the number of fields can vary (one field per row on the form). The input into the form will not be mapped straight into the database, but will be added to the current value in the database, and then saved. An example of the form is in the picture below - the callout on the right shows the id for each row. I know how to generate the form like this, but I can't work out how I can easily process each of these rows reliably. I also know how to give each of the fields a unique identifier, like name="row-23", but how can I translate that name so that I can update the related record in the database?
