• Home directory messed up

  Recently, I installed Ubuntu 12.04. For some reason, i backed-up my home directory contents to another directory(say bkp dir). Precisely, I moved Documents, Pictures, Downloads, etc.. to bkp directory. Now, Deleted all my original home directory contents. I restored all the bkp directory content back to home. I find them all on my Desktop. I believe some kinda chain is broken. I dont find respective home directories icons on them. How do i restore it? Also, i dont find them in my places options.   I'm getting ready for my first "bigger" .NET project (ASP.NET MVC 3/4) on which I'm going to lead another 2 programmers and right now I'm choosing the right version control system for the job (plus I'm gonna use it for my future development too). My problem is that I did't use any version control system before, so I would like it to have as fast learning curve and intuitive merging as possible. So far I quickly looked at VisualSVN (I like the Visual Studio integration in it), but I'm reading everywhere how Git is awesome and dunno which one to choose (not limited to these two).. Maybe I'm ovethinking this but I like when everything goes smoothly:) I'd like to hear some opinions from people who used multiple version control systems (preferably on VS projects) what do you think is the less complicated and effective version control system for such a use (one to 5 man projects)?

When I say a debugger, I mean something that will allow you to: Pause execution in the middle of some code (like a VM) Inspect variable values Optionally set variable values and call methods Unfortunately, we're not always blessed to work in environments that have debuggers. This can be for reasons such as: Debugger is too too too slow (Flash circa Flash 8) Interpreted language (Ruby, PHP) Scripting language (eg. inside RPG Maker XP) My question is, what is an effective way to debug without a debugger? The old method of "interleave code with print statements" is time-consuming and not sufficient.

• XHTML fix solution republished

  As a post VS2010 SP1 installation activity, I am recompiling all my open source projects. The first is XHTMLFIX at http://xhtmlfix.codeplex.com/ This LGPL project has simple fixes to ASP.NET 2.0/4.0 to achieve XHTML compliance as measured by the W3C tests at http://validator.w3.org/ The XHTML project shows as untrue the commonly held belief that MVP or MVC are necessary for producing XHTML compliant web pages. Incidentally the other supposed advantage of MVP and MVC over web forms of easier testing is also very dubious as web forms can be tested by systems such as Selenium or WaTiN. I have used NUnitASP (alas sadly discontinued) with web forms and found it be more effective than unit testing MVP. Now if you prefer the MVP and / or MVC approach over Web forms then fine, that is your preferance. Now if you can find an example where ASP.NET 4.0 Web forms properly written do not produce XHTML compliant markup, I would be glad of your example and will look at ways of modifying the markup to be XHTML compliant.

  I am searching console for windows 7 which have memory of typed commands which is stored when I close the cmd prompt. I got frustrated when I have to type again paths with commands, I'm developing for android and I use adb so you can know it can be quite a lot of commands to issue.
