    If I output a formatted date as follows: DateTime.Parse("2010-06-02T15:26:37.789 +01:00").ToString("HH:mm:sszzz") I get the expected result: 15:26:37+01:00 However, if I parse the same date, convert to UTC and output with the same format as follows: DateTime.Parse("2010-06-02T15:26:37.789 +01:00").ToUniversalTime().ToString("HH:mm:sszzz") I get this: 14:26:37+01:00 Now those two dates, the local and UTC versions, should be exactly the same but the outputted text represents two different times. Why is this?

    Hi, I have a fairly weird 'bug' with a simple query, and I vaguely remember reading the reason for it somewhere a long time ago but would love someone to refresh my memory. The table is a basic ID, Datetime table. The query is: select ID, Datetime from Table where Datetime <= '2010-03-31 23:59:59' The problem is that the query results include results where the Datetime is '2010-04-01 00:00:00'. The next day. Which it shouldn't. Anyone? Cheers Moo

    Hi, I am fetching a RSS, in which i receive the following Date stamp: 2010-05-10T06:11:14.000Z Now i am using NSDateFormatter to parse this datetime stamp. [parseFormatter setDateFormat:@"yyyy-MM-dTH:m:s.z"]; But its not working fine if just remove the time stamp part it works for the date [parseFormatter setDateFormat:@"yyyy-MM-d"]; But if i add the rest of the stuff it returns nil. I'm trying to use the Text Layout Framework to improve the speed of the operation but i've founded that TLF is far slower (10X in my tests) than the old setTextFormat(). These two tables are defined as: Movie ----- ID (int) Title (nvchar) MovieReview ----------- ID (int) MovieID (int) StoryRating (decimal) HumorRating (decimal) ActingRating (decimal) I have a stored procedure that allows the user to query movies based on other user's reviews. Currently, I have a temporary table that is populated with the following query: SELECT m.*, (SELECT COUNT(ID) FROM MovieReivew r WHERE r.MovieID=m.ID) as 'TotalReviews', (SELECT AVG((r.StoryRating + r.HumorRating + r.ActingRating) / 3) FROM MovieReview r WHERE r.MovieID=m.ID) as 'AverageRating' FROM Movie m In a later query in my procedure, I basically want to say: SELECT * FROM MyTempTable t WHERE t.AverageRating >= @lowestRating AND t.AverageRating <= @highestRating My problem is, sometimes AverageRating is zero. Because of this, I'm not sure what to do. How do I handle this scenario in SQL?

    I've been doing a convert(varchar,datefield,112) on each date field that I'm using in 'between' queries in SQL server to ensure that I'm only accounting for dates and not missing any based on the time part of datetime fields. Now, I'm hearing that the converts aren't indexable and that there are better methods, in SQL Server 2005, to compare the date part of datetimes in a query to determine if dates fall in a range. What is the optimal, indexable, method of doing something like this: select * from appointments where appointmentDate='08-01-2008' and appointmentDate<'08-15-2008'

    I have quite a few of these in Apache logs piling up every day: [Mon Jun 09 20:42:58 2014] [error] [client 180.153.214.181] File does not exist: /home/user/public_html/ajax.googleapis.com, referer: http://www.mysite.com//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js I have over 200k visitors per day but a few of them like a dozen or so are generating the above error. I can't figure out what may be causing it. Checked the html code and it's all good so I ran out of ideas.

    Hi there, I have an iPhone app that calls upon the UIImagePickerController to offer folks a choice between selecting images via the camera or via their photo library on the phone. The problem is that sometimes, (Can't always get it to replicate.), the editingInfo dictionary object that is supposed to be returned by didFinishPickingImage delegate message, comes back blank or (null). Has anyone else seen this before? I am implementing the UIImagePickerControllerDelegate in my .h file and I am correctly implementing the two delegate methods: didFinishPickingImage and imagePickerControllerDidCancel. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!   • question about select() and range of for loop to read sockets

    Just a quick question about using select(). I'm using select() to read from multiple sockets. When I looked up examples on how to use select(), a lot of tutorials showed going through for loops and checking for FD_ISSET. The problem I have with those tutorials is that the for loop starts from i = 0. and checks if the bit has been set for the file descriptor i using FD_ISSET. Couldn't the for loop start from say your minfd (just like how you would keep track of maxfd)?? Or am I missing something?? Following link is an example of such for loop (look at the fourth example that he gives) http://www.developerweb.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2933 If that was the only example out there that used such for loop, I might understand it was a mistake or bad coding but I've seen several examples of such for loop of uselessly going through literally thousands of sockets and I'm convinced I'm missing something. Any comments or inputs are appreciated.
