• Boost::Thread or fork() : Multithreaded HTTP Proxy

  I'm testing boost::thread on a system. It happens that I needed to act as a fork(), because one thread modifies the other variables, even member variables of class I do the project using fork() or is there some alternative still using boost::thread? Basically I run this program in Linux and maybe FreeBSD. It is an http proxy,accept() in main thread, and a function that accepts a class (where there is the file descriptor socket) in a secondary thread that makes the service. Is there a better way to implement a proxy?

• Spring security annotations with EL -- requires debug information compiled in?

  I am considering using Spring Security annotations for my application, with the EL (expression language) feature. For example: @PreAuthorize("hasPermission(#contact, 'admin')") public void deletePermission(Contact contact, Sid recipient, Permission permission); I need the EL capability because I have built my own ACL implementation. However, to use this capability with the "#contact" type arguments, the Spring documentation says this: You can access any of the method arguments by name as expression variables, provided your code has debug information compiled in. This begs two questions: It is acceptable to have a production application commercially distributed with debug info in it? If not, is there any way around this? Thanks for any guidance on this!

• Associating Worksheets with their Names using OpenXML SDK 1.0

  I'm using version 1.0 of Microsoft's OpenXML SDK to do some basic parsing of .xlsx files. I can get and parse the worksheets, and I can get a list of worksheet names, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to link up what name goes with what worksheet. I understand that an element like <sheet name="My Sheet" sheetId="1" r:id="rId1"/> in the workbook is linked up to a specific worksheet via the relationships defined in xl/_rels.xml, but I can't see where any of the relationship info is exposed in the API. I'm using C#, but any VB.NET examples would be just as helpful. I feel like this should be dead simple, but I can't figure it out. It also looks like it may be more straightforward in v2.0 of the SDK, but upgrading isn't an option at the moment.

• touchesEnded not being called??? or randomly being called

  If I lift my finger up off the first touch, then it will recognize the next touch just fine. It's only when I hold my first touch down continuously and then try and touch a different area with a different finger at the same time. It will then incorrectly register that second touch as being from the first touch again.   Hi everyone, i'm trying to realize non-editable QTableView with widgets in cells that should contain clickable listed text. With following code i'm setting widget in definite cell: view = QTableView() label = QLabel( <some html text> ) ... view.setIndexWidget(index, label) I used html to make label's text clickable, but links became blue with underline and moreover by clicking on it with right mouse button appears popup menu with "Copy Link Locaion" option, where i wanted to place some hidden information instead of url and of course do not let user see this info. I'm looking for light-weight widget, i thought that insertion of QGraphicsView in each cell will lead to big computer loads, but can't think of any other solution. • Drupal: Sorting a view programmatically

  Hey there. I'm trying to take the results of a view - using the function views_get_view_result() - and sort the array in a way I couldn't do from within the Views interface. So far so good. I've got a $rows variable with all of the stuff I need. Now... How do I put it back? :) Before I needed this sort, I used views_embed_view(), but I can't do that anymore. Grateful for any help on this, feels like I'm so close to cracking it!

• Loose Coupling vs. Information Hiding and Ease of Change

  I'm just reading Code Complete by Steve McConell and I'm thinking of an Example he gives in a section about loose coupling. It's about the interface of a method that calculates the number of holidays for an employee, which is calculated from the entry date of the employee and her sales. The author suggests a to have entry date and sales as the parameters of the method instead of an instance of the employee: int holidays(Date entryDate, Number sales) instead of int holidays(Employee emp) The argument is that this decouples the client of the method because it does not need to know anything about the Employee class. Two things came to my mind: Providing all the parameters that are needed for the calculation breaks encapsulation. It shows the internals of the method on how it computes the result. It's harder to change, e.g. when someone decides that also the age of the employee should be included in the calculation. One would have to change the signature. What's your opinion?

  I've checked out Apple's Quick Look Programming Guide: Introduction to Quick Look page in the Mac Dev Center, but as a more of a science programmer rather than an Apple programmer, it is a little over my head (but I could get through it in a weekend if I bash my head against it long enough). Does anyone know of a good basic Quick Look Generators tutorial that is simple enough for someone with only very modest experience with Xcode? For those that are curious, I have a filetype called .evt that has an xml header and then binary info after the header. I'm trying to write a generator to display the xml header. There's no application bundle that it belongs to. Thanks!

• Using SCons as a build engine for distutils

  I have a python package with some C code needed to build an extension (with some non-trivial building needs). I have used SCons as my build system because it's really good and flexible. I'm looking for a way to compile my python extensions with SCons ready to be distributed with distutils. I want that the user simply types setup.py install and get the extension compiled with SCons instead of the default distutils build engine. An idea that comes to mind is to redefine build_ext command in distutils, but I can't find extensive documentation for it. Any suggestion?

The code I wrote above works fine except when: I use the sort of the GUI (click on the field name I want to sort on the table) The table is properly sorted but after that when I select a row, it gets the value of the row that was there before the sort. This means that after sorting (using the JTable's GUI) the 'myModel' and 'resultsTable' objects have different row indexes. How do I synchronize those two?

  i create a form for order a item in flex. i use <mx:TextInput /> for getting the information from client and use a <mx:Button /> for submit the information in database. But client requirements is when user click on button then first show a confirmation page with details information that client give. But can't use another page or <mx:TextInput /> in this confirmation page, it will be <mx:Label />. After show the confirmation page if clients click on Button then submit the info. How can i convert a <mx:TextInput /> into <mx:Label /> with all properties in flex? Is it possible?

  I've just installed this plugin, created the migrations, added everything I needed to make it work(I didn't install ImageMagick yet). The problem is when I get the upload control parameter to save it in my controller, I get something like this: #<File:C:\Users\Brian\AppData\Local\Temp\RackMultipart.2560.6677> instead of a simple string, like C:\Users\Brian\AppData\Local\Temp\RackMultipart.2560.6677 And if I try to read it I get the following exception: TypeError backtrace must be Array of String What am I doing wrong? How do I read it or simply get rid of the # and < symbols?

  I'm using a JMS queue to read from and insert data into a postgres table created by grails. The problem is obtaining the next sequence value. I thought I had found the solution with the following statement (by putting "DEFAULT" where the ID should go), but it's no longer working. I must have changed something, because I needed to recreate the table. What's the best way to get around this problem? ps = c.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO xml_test (id, version, xml_text) VALUES (DEFAULT, 0, ?)"); UPDATE: In response to the suggested solution, I did the following: Added this to the the domain: class XmlTest { String xmlText static constraints = { id generator:'sequence', params:[name:'xmltest_sequence'] } } And changed the insert statement to the following: ps = c.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO xml_test (id, version, xml_text) VALUES (nextval('xmltest_sequence'), 0, ?)"); However, when I run the statement, I get the following error: [java] 1 org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: relation "xmltest_sequence" does not exist Any thoughts?

I have tried, had some success using the plugin at http://phing.info/trac/wiki/Users/Documentation/CruiseControl, but have failed to: Get the metrics graphs working (nothing appears) Enable the "PMD" - project mess detection - reports Are there any other ant-specific commands that must (can) be run in addition to my phing build script?   Hi folks, I wish to authenticate a user without having the page reloaded, and having the user submit a given form. However, the problem that I immediately run into here is that the authenticity token typically gets set when the page is reloaded. I need the authenticity token for the form submission, but i do not have it yet because the page is yet to reload. I figure this cannot be that rare - anyone has any idea on how to resolve this? 1 idea could be getting rails to pass back the authenticity token after authentication, but i do not know how to access it from the controller 1) not logined user sees form 2) not logined user types in message and submit 3) facebox asking for authentication 4) after authentication, submit form automatically without refreshing 5) //but authenticity token is needed for form submission, which is not there yet

  I have the following link function MyLinqToSQLTable.Where(x => x.objectID == paramObjectID).ToList(); I most of the time you can change a linq call to be several lines by adding curly brackets around the method body. Like this: MyLinqToSQLTable.Where(x => { x.objectID == paramObjectID; }).ToList(); Problem is the implied return that was there when I just did a Boolean compare is now not done. Return (x.objectID == paramObjectID); is not accepted either. How do do this? can I do this? NOTE: I know that I can add another where clause if needed. But I would still like to know the answer to this.

• How to create a web framework in C# without ASPX?

  I've managed to get a C# asp page running under ubuntu/apache/mono, but I don't want to write my framework in these ASP pages, I want to use straight C# and then I'll use a templating language for my views. But I don't know where to begin? C# is a compiled language, so... how would I do this? Would I compile everything and then have apache hook into the (single) executable and pass in the the request URL? Could I request specific .cs pages and then have apache tell it to compile and then "display" it only if it's been updated? Can the "view" files be compiled individually to avoid having to recompile everything every time there's a change? Is there some "base" I can work from, or am I going to have to reinvent accessing GET and POST variables (by reading header info) and all sorts of other stuff we take for granted in languages like PHP?

My russian popup help is totally unreadeable.   Hi! I can't seem to find a way to reference the value in a column in the grid, in my case it is the StatusId. Based on the cell value in this row, for the StatusId, I need to return a true or false to the method ".Visible(???)". It would be nice to find the answer in the documentation online but I haven't been able to. I find it hard to believe that I would be the first person who ever needed this functionality.   For performance tests I need a way to measure the time needed for a form to load its definition from the DFM. All existing forms inherit a custom form class. To capture the current time, this base class needs overriden methods as "extension points": start of the deserialization process after the deserialization (can be implemented by overriding the Loaded procedure) the moment just before the execution of the OnFormCreate event So the log for TMyForm.Create(nil) could look like: - 00.000 instance created - 00.010 before deserialization - 01.823 after deserialization - 02.340 before OnFormCreate Which TObject (or TComponent) methods are best suited? Maybe there are other extension points in the form creation process, please feel free to make suggestions.
