  Hi, In my Grails app, I'm using the Searchable plugin for searching/indexing. I want to write a Compass/Lucene query that involves multiple domain classes. Within that query when I want to refer to the id of a class, I can't simply use 'id' because all classes have an 'id' property. Currently, I work around this problem by adding the following property to a class Foo public Long getFooId() { return id } static transients = ['fooId'] Then when I want to refer to the id of Foo within a query I use 'fooId'. Is there a way I can provide an alias for a property in the searchable mapping rather than adding a property to the class?

• Open PDF Content files in ASP.NET MVC 2

  I want to provide simple href links to my PDF forms that reside in my Forms folder. I have a created a simple Index.aspx and FormController Index action that simple iterates through the list of PDF files using my FormMetaData.xml file. The links get created just fine but when you click on the links I get a 404 exception. That looks like this: Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly. Requested URL: /Forms/ccindteamgolfform.pdf Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.4927; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.4927 This seems like this should open up a new browser window with the PDF in it but perhaps I am making a bad assumption. The PDF content files have Build Action of Content and Copy to Output set to Copy Always.   Hi, I am using Java Date and Hibernate which is then being saved in the database (Postgresql). I am not that good in hibernate Part of the Mapping File <property name="DateOfBirth" type="java.util.Date"> <column name="DATEOFBIRTH" /> </property> I am using GWT Date picker Short date format i.e. yyyy-MM-dd. I am getting the value from the date picker using View.getUserDateOfBirth().getValue() But when I am saving the date 2010-11-30 into the datebase it is saving it as 2010-11-30 00:00:00 instead of 2010-11-30 So, I want it to be saved in the database as in this format 2010-11-30?? I have many things such timestamp but i not being able to configure it. I think this part <property name="DateOfBirth" type="java.util.Date"> <column name="DATEOFBIRTH" /> </property> should be changed but I do not know what to change

• Using Client Application Services in windows forms not working

  i am trying to implement asp.net membership, profile and role based security in a windows application by configuring client Application Services for my windows forms application. I have followed both these articles http://www.dotnetbips.com/articles/e863aa3c-0dd6-468d-bd35-120a334c5030.aspx and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb546195.aspx step-by-step but for some reason i can't get the authentication working. I have a deployed intranet asp.net website which is already using an asp.net membership database for authentication and want to use that same database for authenitcation in my windows forms application. The site URL is http://myServer_Name:My_Port and i am specifying that URL as the both the Authentication service location and Roles service location in the windows application services property tab. But in the windows application login form, when i say Dim msg As String = "Welcome " If Not Membership.ValidateUser(UsernameTextBox.Text), PasswordTextBox.Text)) Then MessageBox.Show("Invalid User ID or Password!") Else msg = msg + UsernameTextBox.Text End If i get my "Invalid User ID or Password!" message even when i supply a valid user name with the corresponding password. i am able to login with the same credentials from the asp.net site. How can i test if the Authentication service location is being reached from the windows application?? Or what other information can i provide here such that one is able to help me get this working??

I wanted to create a simple program which will set a pattern for my bigger project but it is taking quite a lot of time than expected. It would be rally helpful if you can explain in simple terms on any template/pattern that i can use to get fluent nHibernate working. The above code uses auto mapping, which i tried after i tried with fluent mapping.

• GET Trello JSON to put in a string var

  I'm trying to get the JSON that a TRELLO API Url returns and put it into a string. On my own private board I am getting "401 Unauthorized". But the Trello Api doesn't seem to give any way to authorize a user through the URL.   I have this method that receives an ID number and downloads an HTML website according to that ID. Typically, an IMDB link is like this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0892791/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1226229/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0000429/ They all follow the 'tt' then 7 digits, with lack of digits turning into zeroes to fill out the left spaces. How can I accomplish this using C#? I'm kind of stumped.   I am trying to debug a HTTP Handler in Visual Studio and the break point is not getting hit. Does anyone have an idea on how to go about debugging HTTP Handlers in Visual Studio? I am using VS 2010 Premium, .NET 4.0 on a Windows 7 machine.   One of managed objects has one attribute 'isMember' represented by NSNumber type. When serialize to Json post body by RestKit, it always give 0/1 instead of YES/NO or true/false. When mapping from json result to objects, RestKit is able to successfully turn YES/NO to NSNumber. What is the way to force serialize the boolean attribute to YES/NO or true/false? Serialize: 0 -> 0, 1 -> 1 Deserialize : YES/true -> 1, NO/false -> 0

  I heard lots of good opinions about Python language. They say it's mature, expressive etc... Are there any production-ready web application frameworks in Python. By "production ready" I mean : supports objective-relational mapping with caching and declarative desciption (like JPA, Hibernate etc..) controls oriented user interface support - no HTML templates but something like JSF (RichFaces, Icefaces) or GWT, Vaadin, ZK component decomposition and dependency injection (like EJB or Spring) unit and integration testing good IDE support clustering, modularity etc (like Terracota, OSGi etc..) there are successful applications written in it by companies like IBM, Oracle etc (I mean real business applications not Twitter) could have commercial support Is it possible at all in Python world ? Or only choices are : use Python and write everything from the bottom (too expensice) stick to JEE buy .NET stack

• Axis webservice calls fail sometimes, access.log shows content!

  Hi, our app is a webservice client (axis 1) to a third party webservice (also axis 1). We use it for some years now. Since a few weeks, we (as a client) get sometimes HTTP status 400 (bad request) or read timeouts when calling the webservice. Strangely, the access.log of the service shows part of the request or the response instead of the URL. Frequency of such call is 1% of all calls to that service. The only discriminator I know of so far is that it happens since operations informed us that the service url changed because of "server migration". Has anyone experienced such phenomenon yet?   Hi i'm very new to core audio and I just would like some help in coding up a little volume meter for whatever's being outputted through headphones or built-in speaker. Like a dB meter. I have the following code, and have been trying to go through the apple source project "SpeakHere", but it's a nightmare trying to go through all that, without knowing how it works first... • Browser: Continue gif animation after escape is pressed

  Firefox (and other browsers i believe) stop gif animation when you click the Stop button or invoke it via the Escape key. I have a text input that on change makes ajax requests to update other elements. As part of this ajaxyness i have an animated gif to show feedback. I also trap the escape key press in this input so as to clear the text field for better UX. My problem is after the escape key is pressed once, none of the ajax gifs animate anymore until the page is refreshed. Does anyone know a workaround? Stuff i've tried: I tried the e.stopPropagation(); and e.cancelBubble = true; in the function handling the e.keyCode == 27 and that didn't seem to work. I suspect that this stops trigging more js events and the browser catches the escape irrespective of js activity. I have the gif showing/hiding via adding/removing a css class so it's difficult to apply the "change gif url to reset" workaround. I dont even know if this works anyway - didn't test it. But it seems difficult. If anyone knows that this works and knows of an easy way to apply the hack with background-image: url(../images/ajax-loader_dotcirclel13x13.gif); css then please let me know.

• Establishing persistent connection to a database in Java

  I've ran through several examples over the web, and found that every single time I need something from the DB, I should write the following code: try { // Step 1: Load the JDBC driver. "); System.err.println(e.getMessage()); } It's very annoying to put up this code every time I want something from the DB, so the question is - is there a way to only once connect entirely all my app to the DB somehow at the very start point, avoiding copy-pasting mentioned code, and then be able to do everything I want with DB? I've quickly looked through NetBeans's Project menu, but didn't find any clue on how to configurate a persistent connection to a selected DB. If it's important, i'm writing a purely desktop app, i.e. using Java EE. Also, it's worth mentioning that I'm a kinda beginner in Java.

• how to manage vim plugin

  I want to know how do you manage your vim plugins. As it is, One of the biggest fun of using is that one can easily try many interesing new plugins, just download it and unzip it in under ~/.vim. But if you try too often and try too much, you might get trouble as confilct of key mapping , in compatitble script version, dpendency between different plugin ..... Then you want to remove some plugin ,kind of like rollback your vim to a sound condition. But, the rollback could be very painful . cus for some "giant" plugin, like perl-support ( it's great plugin, anyway), will consist of many vim scripts which spread in different dirctories. To remove single one giant plugin will be anoying, not too mention if you remvoe many plugin at one time. In a word , I'm looking for good practice for managing vim plugins.

• Understanding F# Asynchronous Programming

  I kind of know the syntax of asynchronous programming in F#. E.g. let downloadUrl(url:string) = async { let req = HttpWebRequest.Create(url) // Run operation asynchronously let! resp = req.AsyncGetResponse() let stream = resp.GetResponseStream() // Dispose 'StreamReader' when completed use reader = new StreamReader(stream) // Run asynchronously and then return the result return! reader.AsyncReadToEnd() } In F# expert book (and many other sources), they say like let! var = expr simply means "perform the asynchronous operation expr and bind the result to var when the operation completes. Then continue by executing the rest of the computation body" I also know that a new thread is created when performing async operation. My original understanding was that there are two parallel threads after the async operation, one doing I/O and one continuing to execute the async body at the same time. But in this example, I am confused at let! resp = req.AsyncGetResponse() let stream = resp.GetResponseStream() What happens if resp has not started yet and the thread in the async body wants to GetResponseStream? Is this a possible error? So maybe my original understanding was wrong. The quoted sentences in the F# expert book actually means that "creating a new thread, hang the current thread up, when the new thread finishes, wake up the body thread and continue", but in this case I don't see we could save any time. In the original understanding, the time is saved when there are several independent IO operations in one async block so that they could be done at the same time without intervention with each other. But here, if I don't get the response, I cannot create the stream; only I have stream, I can start reading the stream. Where's the time gained?

• Saving HttpResponse/Request to file system

  Here is my scenario. User fills out this large page which is dynamically created based off DB values. Those values can change. When the user fills out the page and hits submit we want to save a copy of the page as html on the server, this way if the text or wording changes, when they go back to view their posted information, it is historically accurate. So I basically need to do this protected void buttonSave_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //collect information into an object to save it in the db bool result = BusinessLogic.Save(myBusinessObject); if (result) //!!! Here is where I need to save this page as an html file on my servers IFS!!!! else //whatever Response.Redirect("~/SomeOtherPage.aspx"); } Any help is greatly apprciated. Also I CANNOT just request the data from the url because query string parameters are a big no no in this case. The key to pull the database info up (at its highest level) is all in session so I cant just request a url and save it. Thanks!
