• Why won't the Office 2007 AutoCorrections feature install correctly?

  I've installed Office 2007 successfully but each time I use an application that requires spell checking (e.g. Word, Outlook) I begin typing and get the following message The list of common English (U.K.) AutoCorrections is not available. This feature is not currently installed. Would you like to install it now? If I click Yes, I get an error with the message The list of common English (U.K.) AutoCorrections is not available. Microsoft Office Outlook cannot install the necessary files due to Windows Installer error 1605. This action is only valid for products that are currently installed. Does anyone know what I can do to resolve this? A reinstall hasn't worked.

• Command window missing default 8x12 font

  Installation: Windows Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Service role When I logon locally my command window (cmd.exe) displays with default font that is 8x12. But when I logon remotely and open command window, it opens with the smallest possible font selection. Opening window properties and setting font size, the default 8x12 font is missing from the list. What should I do to get this font back in the list? Following screenshots show settings when logged on locally and remotely. • difference between compiled and installed via rpm (zypper)

  In an openSUSE 11.1 I download, compile and install ImageMagick via: wget ftp://.../pub/graphics/ImageMagick/ImageMagick-6.7.7-0.zip unzip ImageMagick-6.7.7-0.zip cd ImageMagick-6.7.7-0 ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/ImageMagick make make install Everything works nicelly until I discover that JPG is not supported: identify -list format | grep -i jpg [nothing related to JPG returned] So I reconfigure and recompile using: ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/ImageMagick --with-jpeg=yes --with-jp2=yes make make install But that changes nothing. I end up uninstalling: make uninstall and installing via zypper: zypper install ImageMagick This installed version 6.4.3 and now it does support JPG: identify -list format | grep -i jpg JPG* JPEG rw- Joint Photographic Experts Group JFIF format Any idea on what is going on here? What is a possible reason that this capability of ImageMagick was not there when compiled from source but was there when installed from rpm? Note that I don't necessarily care a lot about ImageMagick (since it now works), but generally about his kind of behaviour, becase in one way or another I've seen this happen in other ocasions as well.

• Cross domain LDAP

  For a system we are developing we have 2 domains an internal and an external domain with bi directional trust between them. However the servers are only able to connect to their own DC's. We have an application server on the internal domain which needs to use an LDAP query to gather a list of users from a group on the external domain. How do i go about writing an LDAP query that asks one DC to go ask another DC for a list of users. I tried querying the internal DC with the same LDAP query I would use if it could hit the external DC directly but this does not work. When i use Softerra LDAP Administraor I can view the full hierarchy of the interal domain but despite the trust relationship between domains i am unable to see any of the external doamin. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated

  I have a client that is currently managing around 5000+ contacts via Outlook. There is also a BES Express installation in place. There are a couple problems. First, there is a corrupt contact in there somewhere that is preventing either a cabled or over the air sync of the complete list to a blackberry. The second, is that it just seems to be getting a bit unruly. They currently have a license for ACT, which I'm trying to get them to move into, but at what number does the contact list need to be at to migrate away from using Outlook/Exchange and into a real CRM solution?

• Windows 7 does not recognise second display output [closed]

  I've got a PC with dual BenQ G2222HDL monitors and an ATI Radeon HD 4650 video card. I've been running both monitors at 1920x1080 for some months now but last week the second monitor switched to a lower resolution and won't let me go back to 1920x1080. If I right click the Desktop and choose Screen Resolution from the menu, I get two items in the Display: drop down list BenQ G2222HDL D-SUB Display device on: VGA In the past 2 was always the same as 1. If I click Detect a third item appears Available display output on: ATI Radeon HD 4650 but if I use the Multiple displays: drop down list to use it says "No display detected" and then lets me choose from either "Connect anyway on S-Video" or "Connect anyway on Component", neither of which help. It seems like Windows 7 recognises the card is dual-head, and knows I have got two monitors, but can't link it all together. I have checked and all my drivers are up-to-date. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get the second monitor working properly again?

• How to view only Mail on shared email account?

  I have a support account which I should have access to in my Outlook 2010, however, since changing from 2003, the situation has become unusual. I used to be able to just view shared mail items in a seperate account, without it having the Calendar, Tasks and Reminders popping up in my face all hours of the day. Now, if I add the account, I get upwards of 60 task reminders that are not my personal account, and that clog up my Reminders window and task list. Is there a way to show only my Tasks and Reminders in Outlook 2010? I've tried the Advanced Filter option on the Tasks list, but if I set it to show only things from or to myself, everything disappears, or nothing disappears. I tried looking in the email account settings for something like 'Read email only' or something to do with only showing some of the modules of outlook, but it was useless.

• NET VIEW occasionally does not show all computers

  I am having an issue on my workstation, where periodically the NET VIEW command does not seem to work. Most times, NET VIEW will return a list of all the machines connected to our domain. Occasionally, it will only list 4 or 5 (instead of the usual 200+). The only way I've found to remedy it is by rebooting my machine. I am running Windows XP Pro, the Domain Controller is running Server 2003. What could be causing this, and how can I remedy it? Thanks!

• Microsoft Word Document Recovery seems unresolvable

  We work on a server (Windows Server 2003 Enterprise) that a bunch of us developers remote in using Remote Desktop Connection, and now every "other" time I open up word I get this Document Recovery pane: As you can see, "Delete" and "Show Repairs" are disabled (I don't think this is my document). "Open" or "Save As" works, but it never marks this document recovered, it just keeps coming up every "other" time I open up word. I don't even care about this document. How can I remove this document from the list so that it doesn't come up anymore? Update: As per Moab's comment, I had the user delete the file. But the Document Recovery still shows up with that item every other time Word is opened. The only difference now is that clicking on "Open" produces this (obvious) message: How can I clear this list? BTW, the user that owned this document was never getting the Document Recovery pane.

  I want to grant a user (username: paul) access to all directories shared by root with mod 770. I do it this way: groups root (here comes a list of groups in which root user is) usermod -a -G group1 paul usermod -a -G group2 paul usermod -a -G group3 paul ... All the 'group1', 'group2', 'group3' are seen in the group list of root user. However, after adding 'paul' to all groups above, he still can not write to directories shared by root user with mod 770. Did I do it wrongly?

• Windows Security Center Service is missing

  I am trying to fix a Windows 7 machine here that has been infected with all kinds of Malware. I have removed all of them as far as I can see but I am stumped by one last task. One little bugger managed to remove the Windows Security Center service from the list of Windows services. So I cannot start it or set to automatically start. At the moment I cannot get the Windows firewall to turn on or any anti-virus software. The security center shows the following image when I try: Does anyone know how to add this back to the list of services so I may set it to start.   VMWare tools not installing on Ubuntu 12.04. I'm using Chef to manage the installation, but the Apt commands fail if run manually. I'm using the VMWare tool Debian repo. • Ubuntu 9.0.4 Presario S4000NX Fan Speed

  I recently install Ubuntu 9.0.4 on a Presario S4000NX and the CPU fan speed is kept at max. With Windows XP installed the fan speed would increase/decrease as required. I've tried to install lm-sensors and run the sensors-detect. It recommended that I load the modules which I did: smsc47m192 i2c-i801 When running sensor-detect it gave me this strange message: Trying family SMSC Found SMSC LPC47M15x/192/997 Super IO Fan Sensors (but not activated) Running the sensors command gives me a list of voltages and CPU and temperature but doesn't list any fans. After doing some Internet research I then tried to load the smsc47m1 module but I get the following error: FATAL: Error inserting smsc47m1 (/lib/modules/2.6.28-15-generic/kernel/drivers/hwmon/smsc47m1.ko): no such device The file smsc47m1.ko does exist in the listed folder. Any suggestions for getting the fan speed (and the noise) down in Ubuntu? Thanx. - Chris P.S. - I would have put better tags but Server Fault wouldn't let me.

• Automatically keeping two excel data tables in-sync (w/out VBA)

  I'm putting together a workbook for tracking a stock portfolio. The primary sheet contains a table with the list of the transactions. From this I would like to create an overview table on another sheet with only one row per unique stock symbol that includes things like cost basis, returns, etc. The problem is that nothing I've tried updates the overview table correctly when rows are added to the transaction table. And even then the range of the table isn't extended down to include new rows as they become valid.   I've got an old laptop that is running Windows 2000 & Windows 98 in a multi-boot configuration. I need to add MS-DOS to that list of startup options. I've already added a primary partition, formatted it for FAT16 and made it bootable, and installed MS-DOS 6.22. My question is, how do I add my MS-DOS partition to the list of startup options? More information: My single hard drive has three primary partitions: 0: FAT32 Windows 2000 1: FAT32 Windows 98 2: FAT(16) MS-DOS 6.22 Currently, the boot-up screen lists Windows 2000 and Windows 98 as options, with Windows 2000 as the default choice.   So I'm just starting to learn about bash completion scripts, and I started to work on one for a tool I use all the time. Next, I decided to dynamically create the list of available actions. I put together the following command: zf | grep "Providers and their actions:" -A 100 | grep -P "^\s*\033\[36m\s*zf" | awk '{gsub(/[[:space:]]*/, "", $3); print $3}' | sort | uniq | awk '{sub("\-", "\\-", $1); print $1}' | tr \\n " " | sed 's/^ *\(.*\) *$/\1/' Which basically does the following: Grabs all the text in the "zf" command after "Providers and their actions:" Grabs all the lines that start with "zf" (I had to do some fancy work here 'cause the ZF command prints in color) Grab the second piece of the command and remove any spaces from it (the spaces part is probably not needed any more) Sort the list Get rid of any duplicates Escape dashes (I added this when trying to debug the problem—probably not needed) Trim all new lines Trim all leading and ending spaces The above command produces: $ zf | grep "Providers and their actions:" -A 100 | grep -P "^\s*\033\[36m\s*zf" | awk '{gsub(/[[:space:]]*/, "", $3); print $3}' | sort | uniq | awk '{sub("\-", "\\-", $1); print $1}' | tr \\n " " | sed 's/^ *\(.*\) *$/\1/' change configure create disable enable show $ So it looks to me like it's producing the exact same string as I had in my original script. First, it won't autocomplete anything with an "n" in it, and second, when it does autocomplete ("zf create" for example) it won't let me backspace over my completed command. The first issue I'm completely stumped on. The second I'm thinking might have to do with escape characters from the colored text. Any ideas? It's driving me crazy!

  I'm using MS Office Outlook 2007. I check my "Junk E-mail" folder ~once a month. This time I found that my whole google groups correspondence is there. I right-clicked a message and pressed "Add sender to safe senders list". Hopefully, the future messages to this group will be delivered to my inbox. The problem is with the messages that are already in the junk folder. Is there a way to resort my junk folder automatically, to have e-mails from senders listed on my safe list being recovered from the junk folder and moved to e.g. Inbox folder ? Thanks in advance.

• Send individual e-mails to each contact in Gmail?

  I'm trying to send an e-mail to a group of contacts in Gmail (200 recipients, no spam). Is there a way to force Gmail to send the e-mail as 200 individual e-mails, each addressed to that specific person in the list? But I'm trying to protect their privacy: Sending to a contact group puts all their e-mail addresses in the To: field. Adding their addresses to the cc: field means everyone can see all the addresses. Adding their addresses to the bcc: field means that no one sees their address (not even their own) in the to: field. That looks odd and seems like that would trigger a lot of spam filters. So how can I force Gmail to send the e-mail addressed specifically to each contact in the list?

It must have permission to read /etc/aliases and read and write /var/lib/mailman/data/aliases. • Getting my IP off the hotmail blacklist

  I got a new server with a new IP address. Apparently this IP is listed in the hotmail blacklists so that I can't send mails to hotmail users out of my webapplication. postfix/smtp[24706]: 8F31C9404B: to=<[email protected]>, relay=mx3.hotmail.com[65.55.37.88]:25, delay=0.66, delays=0.01/0/0.48/0.16, dsn=5.0.0, status=bounced (host mx3.hotmail.com[65.55.37.88] said: 550 SC-001 Unfortunately, messages from 78.47.228.xxx weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors. (in reply to MAIL FROM command)) My hoster will not help me get that address removed from the blacklist. So I tried to find a way to do it on my own, but I can't find a way to ask Microsoft to remove my IP from that list. Has anyone managed to remove a falsely listed address? And if yes: how?

• Cisco Pix does not let traffic pass from outside to inside even though ACL permits

  I have tried to make my pix 515 allow traffic from outisde interface to inside, but despite permitting ACL's, it doesn't seem to let traffic through. (It is letting traffic out as it should though) I am have tried both of the following: access-list acl_in extended permit tcp any host 10.131.73.2 eq www and access-list acl_in extended permit ip any any None of them help, but I can access 10.131.73.2 from any host on the inside network. This is a one single host on the inside that should every now and then have an HTTP server running for development purpouses, so it doesn't need to reside on DMZ (and as far as I know, I can't place it on DMZ either as it's in the same subnet as the other ip's I have. Could I have missed anything? I am using PIX Version 8.0(4) My current running config looks like this: http://pastebin.com/TvRFyDrF Hope someone can help me get this working.
