  the context i use Spooler Events API to capture events generated by the spooler when a user prints a document ie. FindFirstPrinterChangeNotification FindNextPrinterChangeNotification the problem When I print a document on the network printers from my machine no events are captured by the monitor (uses the fuctions above) Notice Events ARE generated OK for local printers, only Network Printers are problematic!

  Hi All, I have an app, inside that an UIViewController is attached on the UIWindow. on the view of UIViewController, i have added a button and a uiview_1 of size 100x80. this uiview_1 contains another uiview_2 as subview of same size and this uiview_2 contains a UIImageView or a UIlable at runtime (both UIImageView and UIlable are userinteraction enabled) now on the touch/click of UIImageView, i want to show a new view using presentModalViewController, the problem is the view is shown and using back button on the navigation bar i come to the previous/main screen. here the problem come in picture, now i am unable to touch the button or the UIImageView. both are not responding, but app is not crashed and nor frozen. what is wrong in that? • .Net Crystal Report printing application running on termianal service connection errors when session

  I have created a .Net application to run on an App Server that gets requests for a report and prints out the requested report. The C# application uses Crystal Reports to load the report and subsequently print it out. The application is run on Server which is connected to via a Remote Desktop connection under a particular user account (required for old apps). When I disconnect from the Remote Session the application starts raising exceptions such as: Message: CrystalDecisions.Shared.CrystalReportsException: Load report failed This type of error is never raised when the Remote Session is active. The server running the app is running Windows Server 2003, my box which creates the connection is Windows XP. I appreciate this is fairly weird, however I cannot see any problem with the application deployment I have created. Does anyone know what could be cause this issue? EDIT: I bit the bullet and created the application as a windows service, obviously this doesn't take long I just wasn't convinced it would solve the problem. Anyway it doesn't!!! I have also tried removing the multi-thread code that was calling the print function asynchronously. I did this in order to simply the app and narrow down the reason it could fail. Anyway, this didn't improve the situation either! EDIT: The two errors I get are: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80000201): Invalid printer specified. at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.PrintOutputControllerClass.ModifyPrinterName(String newVal) at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.PrintOptions.set_PrinterName(String value) at Dsa.PrintServer.Service.Service.PrintCrystalReport(Report report) The printer isn't invalid, this is confirmed when 60 seconds later the time ticks and the report is printed successfully.   Hi, I'm using this for the very first time to do some quick prototyping (using sketchflow). I have a simple dialog window that I want to show when a button it pressed and then hide when a button (in the dialog, like an "OK" button) is pressed. If someone could just point me in the direction of a simple tutorial on how to do this I'd be happy, or even if you have a simple example you can post here that would be great (I've been trying to google this forever!). I can tell you what I have tried (although obviously it doesn't work) Created a user control, called it "MyDialog". That user control is a simple box which is the bit of gui I want to overlay when the user clicks a button. In that user control I gave it two states "Show" and "Hide". The "Hide" state has all visability to the elements in this user control set to none and "Show" shows everything Created a button in my main screen. That button I gave a it a behaviour "ActivateStateAction". In the properties of that behaviour I set the TargetScreen to be "MyDialog" and the TargetState to be "Show". (I also set the target screen to be MyprojectName.MyProjectNameScreens.MyDialog, that doesn't work either)

  Like in this question, except I want to be able to have querysets that return a mixed body of objects: >>> Product.objects.all() [<SimpleProduct: ...>, <OtherProduct: ...>, <BlueProduct: ...>, ...] I figured out that I can't just set Product.Meta.abstract to true or otherwise just OR together querysets of differing objects. Fine, but these are all subclasses of a common class, so if I leave their superclass as non-abstract I should be happy, so long as I can get its manager to return objects of the proper class. The query code in django does its thing, and just makes calls to Product(). Sounds easy enough, except it blows up when I override Product.__new__, I'm guessing because of the __metaclass__ in Model... Do I have to figure out django's metaclasses to be able to fix this or is there a better way to accomplish my ends?

• jerky animation using Core Animation

  In my iPhone app, I am trying to get some red and white stripes that are scrolling across the screen to animate smoothly when the speed of the stripes gets high. In my app the user starts the animation and changes the scrolling speed by a finger swipe and changes the width of the stripes by a two finger pinch. Animation is stopped in response to a double tap. If the speed gets high or the stripes get narrow the animation is no longer smooth to the eye. The edges of the stripes seem to jump around. The animation is simple. I draw the stripes in a layer that's a bit larger than the screen. I then set up an animation that moves the layer position by exactly the distance from one red stripe to the next. The duration is set by the speed of the finger swipe and the repeat count is 1. When the animation stops the delegate checks a flag to see if the user wants to stop the scrolling. If not, the animation is restarted again for one cycle. Are there better ways of doing this so that the animation is smooth at high speeds or with narrow stripes? Thanks--

• Reset scale/width/zoom of Safari on iPhone using JavaScript/onorientationchange

  I am displaying different content depending on how the user is holding his/her phone using the onorientationchange call in the body tag. This works great - I hide one div while making the other visible. The div in portrait mode looks great on first load. I use this to get the right scale/zoom: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0;" /> Even if the content in portrait mode run over, the width is correct and the user can scroll down. The display in landscape mode is perfect too. However, if content in landscape mode requires the user the scroll down, then when the user returns to portrait mode, the screen is "zoomed out" so to speak. This happens whether or not the user scrolled down while in landscape mode. I've tried many different things to try to get the scale/zoom/width of the screen right, but no luck. Is there any way to do this? Thanks in advance!

  For automated testing (using Hudson) I have a script that generates a bunch of emulators for many combinations of Android OS version, screen resolution, screen density and language. This works fine, except for the language part. I need to find a way to change the Android system locale automatically. Here's some approaches I can think of, in order of preference: Extracting/editing/repacking a QEMU image directly before starting the emulator Running some sort of system-locale-changing APK on the emulator after startup Changing the locale settings on the emulator filesystem after startup Changing the locale settings in some SQLite DB on the emulator after startup Running a key sequence (via the emulator's telnet interface) that would open the settings app and change the locale Manually starting the emulator for each platform version, changing the locale by hand in the settings, saving it and archiving the images for later deployment Any ideas whether this can be done, either via the above methods or otherwise? Do you know where locale settings are persisted to/read from by the system? Solution: Thanks to dtmilano's info about the relevant properties, and some further investigation on my part, I came up with a solution even better and simpler simpler than all the ideas above! • Interpolation and Morphing of an image in labview and/or openCV

  I am working on an image manipulation problem. I have an overhead projector that projects onto a screen, and I have a camera that takes pictures of that. I can establish a 1:1 correspondence between a subset of projector coordinates and a subset of camera pixels by projecting dots on the screen and finding the centers of mass of the resulting regions on the camera. I thus have a map proj_x, proj_y <-- cam_x, cam_y for scattered point pairs My original plan was to regularize this map using the Mathscript function griddata. This would work fine in MATLAB, as follows [pgridx, pgridy] = meshgrid(allprojxpts, allprojypts) fitcx = griddata (proj_x, proj_y, cam_x, pgridx, pgridy); fitcy = griddata (proj_x, proj_y, cam_y, pgridx, pgridy); and the reverse for the camera to projector mapping Unfortunately, this code causes Labview to run out of memory on the meshgrid step (the camera is 5 megapixels, which apparently is too much for labview to handle) I then started looking through openCV, and found the cvRemap function. Unfortunately, this function takes as its starting point a regularized pixel-pixel map like the one I was trying to generate above. However, it made me hope that functions for creating such a map might be available in openCV. I couldn't find it in the openCV 1.0 API (I am stuck with 1.0 for legacy reasons), but I was hoping it's there or that someone has an easy trick. So my question is one of the following 1) How can I interpolate from scattered points to a grid in openCV; (i.e., given z = f(x,y) for scattered values of x and y, how to fill an image with f(im_x, im_y) ? 2) How can I perform an image transform that maps image 1 to image 2, given that I know a scattered mapping of points in coordinate system 1 to coordinate system 2. This could be implemented either in Labview or OpenCV. Note: I am tagging this post delaunay, because that's one method of doing a scattered interpolation, but the better tag would be "scattered interpolation"

  Hopefully, this fictitious example will illustrate my problem: Suppose you are writing a system which tracks complaints for a software product, as well as many other attributes about the product. In this case the SoftwareProduct is our aggregate root and Complaints are entities that only can exist as a child of the product. In other words, if the software product is removed from the system, so shall the complaints. In the system, there is a dashboard like web page which displays many different aspects of a single SoftwareProduct. One section in the dashboard, displays a list of Complaints in a grid like fashion, showing only some very high level information for each complaint. When an admin type user chooses one of these complaints, they are directed to an edit screen which allows them to edit the detail of a single Complaint. The question is: what is the best way for the edit screen to retrieve the single Complaint, so that it can be displayed for editing purposes? Keep in mind we have already established the SoftwareProduct as an aggregate root, therefore direct access to a Complaint should not be allowed. Also, the system is using NHibernate, so eager loading is an option, but my understanding is that even if a single Complaint is eager loaded via the SoftwareProduct, as soon as the Complaints collection is accessed the rest of the collection is loaded. So, how do you get the single Complaint through the SoftwareProduct without incurring the overhead of loading the entire Complaints collection?

• Problem using FtpWebRequest to append to file on a mainframe

  I am using FtpWebRequest to append data to a mainframe file. Each record appended is 50 characters long, and I am adding them one record at a time. In our development environment, we do not have a mainframe, so my code was written and tested FTPing to a Windows-based FTP site instead of a mainframe. Initially, I was writing each record using a StreamWriter (using the stream from the FtpWebRequest) and writing each record using WriteLine (which automatically adds a CR/LF to the end). When we ran this for the first time in the test environment (in which we're writing to an actual MVS mainframe), our mainframe contact said the CR/LFs were not able to be read by his program (a green-screen mainframe program of some sort - he's sent me screen captures, which is all I know of it). I changed our code to use Write instead of WriteLine, but now my code executes successfully (i.e no thrown exceptions) when writing multiple records, but no matter how many records we append, he is only able to "see" the first record - according to his mainframe program, there is only one 50-character record in the file. I'm guessing that to fix this, I need to write some other line-delimiting character into the end of the stream (instead of CR/LF) that the mainframe will recognize as a record delimiter. Anybody know what this is, or how else I can fix this problem?

• Using a UITextView in a UITableViewCell with a UIKeyboard

  I have a simple UITableView that has two cells. Cell 0:0 consists of a UITextField we'll call the title and Cell 0:1 consists of a UITextView we'll simply call a note. Cell 0:0 (the text field) is a standard size, one row cell. I'm therefore trying to fill the rest of the screen up with Cell 0:1 so I return a larger height for it. This all displays just fine and I'm using most of the iPhone real estate pretty efficiently at this point. Now, when a user wants to edit one of these cells, he need only click in the appropriate textfield or textview. If a user clicks in the textfield of Cell 0:0, all is well and the keyboard slides up from the bottom. My problem occurs when a user clicks into the the textview (Cell 0:1). No matter what I try, the UITableView wants to slide the entire table view up and that generally put the UITextView in Cell 0:1 halfway out of sight. What I want to do is two fold, I'm registered for when the keyboard will appear and in that method, I'd like to shrink the UITextView in Cell 0:1 as well as shrink the UITableViewCell itself so that the keyboard doesn't have to be smart and think it has to slide the UITableViewCell into view. Unfortunately, no matter what I try, the UITableView slides up. I just want the UITableView to stand still and I want the cell to animate up/shorter with the keyboard. It appears that, by the time the keyboard is actually animating into the screen - it is to late to adjust the cell size. The UIKit has already made up it's mind that it is going to scroll the UITableView.

  I found my problem here, but there is only an answer for Python 2.6. Basically, I need to unescape strings such as this: 'a altieri_joão' to show the proper characters. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/990169/how-do-convert-unicode-escape-sequences-to-unicode-characters-in-a-python-string I need to do this in 3.1, but when I try print (u'a altieri_jo&#xe3;o') if gives me invalid syntax. And when I try name.decode('latin-1') it says 'str' has no method 'decode'.

How can I make the list work like the one in the contacts-app? So that when you start scrolling a handle pops out at the right side of the screen, and when you drag it letters shows up as of how far you've scrolled (the list is sorted alphabetically), and also, is there a way I could improve the performance of the list?

• Pop-up modal with UITableView on iPhone

  I need to pop up a quick dialog for the user to select one option in a UITableView from a list of roughly 2-5 items. Dialog will be modal and only take up about 1/2 of screen. I go back and forth between how to handle this. Should I subclass UIView and make it a UITableViewDelegate & DataSource? I'd also prefer to lay out this view in IB. So to display I'd do something like this from my view controller (assume I have a property in my view controller for DialogView *myDialog;) NSArray* nibViews = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"DialogView" owner:myDialog options:nil]; myDialog = [nibViews objectAtIndex:0]; [self.view addSubview:myDialog]; problem is i'm trying to pass owner:myDialog which is nil as it hasn't been instantiated...i could pass owner:self but that would make my view controller the File's Owner and that's not how that dialog view is wired in IB. So that leads me to think this dialog wants to be another full blown UIViewController... But, from all I've read you should only have ONE UIViewController per screen so this confuses me because I could benefit from viewDidLoad, etc. that come along with view controllers... Can someone please straighten this out for me?
