  • Best way to keep a large number of hobby projects alive; open sourcing?

    Because my time is limited I can usually only focus on one or two of my hobby projects, while the others sit there wasting away. I am looking for a solution that would allow me to divide my time better. is open sourcing where I take the role of guiding the project realistic, or are there better solutions? In my case, one project has a reasonably sized community of users going for it but is currently closed source. There have been requests to open source it.

  • JpaInspector cannot override inspectProperty()

    Hi, I want to use JpaInspector class that is written for Metawidget. However when I insert this class into my Java project in Netbeans 6.8, It gives an error for inspectProperty() method of JpaInspector class, "method does not override or implement a method from supertype". Does it mean that parent class of JpaInspector, that is BaseObjectInspector, does not have such a method? Or what should I do to use JpaInspector in my project? Thanks.

  • How to use linked resource with eclipse CDT ?

    I found it very difficult to configure linked resource in Eclipse CDT. Folder "wspolne" is located somewhere in the system, I'd like to use .cpp .h files from it in my current project, but avoid copying it. From what i read about Linked Resources is a solution, but I can't build a projct :/ I followed instuctions described here with out any result: stackoverflow.com/questions/1907275/in-eclipse-cdt-shared-resource-folder-that-is-built-differently-for-the-project.     I have a trace setup for SQL Server Profiler to monitor SQL that is executed on a database. I recently discovered that trigger execution is not included in the trace. After looking through available events for a trace, I do not see any that look like they would include trigger execution. Does anyone know how to setup a trace to monitor the execution of triggers?

Unfortunately I am new to AJAX and Web Services and have little idea how to setup unit tests in the browser environment. Unit tests for the server backend I already have done, since I am a pro at that. GXT is not quite pure GWT which provides some unit testing structure. If anyone has a good starting point...

  • Flex unit testing with ANT vs Flash Builder 4

    I have just tried setup unit testing in Flash Builder 4, and it working nicely. A setup of a parallel test source structure and using Flash Builder 4:s new TestCase and new TestSuite I was up and running with some testcases within minutes. But now I want to compile them from a ant flex task, the Flash Builder generates FlexUnitApplication.mxml and FlexUnitCompilerApplication.mxml. Is there a nice way to build the unit tests with ant using these? I cant find any sample where this is done.

  • Is there any way to add references without recompiling in .NET?

    I am using a IoC Container (Castle Windsor) to instantiate classes accordingly to the configuration file. If I want to add classes from a new dll that didn't exist when I compiled the project, there is any way to do that without recompiling? Edit: As this project is a Service Host for WCF service, and the classes that I want to include after compilation are WCF Services I would like also to know if I can include endpoint information about new services without recompiling.

  • ASP.NET LINQ to SQL SubmitChanges() doesn't update the database

    In my 2nd ASP.NET MVC project I'm facing a very weird problem: when I call the SubmitChanges method of the DataContext class, nothing updates in the database. It's weird because everything works fine with my first project. I'm using a remote database created in Sql Server Management Studio, I tried doing some queries there and in Visual Studio 2010 (where I have the connection to the database), they all work. Where might the problem be hidden?

    I am working on a project that stores multiple versions in the same svn repo but in different directories. For ease of reference for the coders working on the project I'd like to be able to add a commented tag similarly to # $Revision: 144 $ However, instead of the file revision it should contain a simple version number like so: # $Version: 1.63 $ # $Version: 1.64 $ # $Version: 2.0 $ Is there a way to get subversion to do this automatically for a specific directory and all sub-directories as well as for any new files added to those?

  • Choosing a Java IDE for homework assignments

    Can anyone recommend a light Java IDE that doesn't require you to make new projects each time you want to compile and run a program? I just want to be able to open java files and compile and run them. I have already tried Eclipse and NetBeans but both require you to make a new project each time you want to compile and run a program. Making a new project is fine for large scale projects but for small school assignments this just makes the process more tedious. Thanks

    Given a maven project with a parent POM - including mostly plugin and dependency versions - how can I generate a POM which takes the information from the parent, places it into the child and removes the reference to the parent? Ideally this would be done with the maven-assembly-plugin. Update: I need this done automatically, since manually it's boring and tedious.   • Prism's ItemsControl seems to have a xaml parse error. Why?

    I am at a loss as to why my Shell.xaml's ItemsControl is causing a parse error. I know the syntax is correct because I copied the Silvelright project files from a working project. Right now my only guess is that ItemsControl is dependent on something else.
