  • How can I use django.core.files.File

    The docs for django.core.files.File imply I can do this: print File(open(path)).url but the File object has no attribute 'url' However, django.db.models.fields.files.FieldFile extends File and does have all the attributes described in the docs for File, but I can't create one without giving it a model field. All I want it something that does what the docs for django.core.files.File (link above) say it does, take a python file and give it attributes like 'url' and 'path' and 'name', can anyone help?   • Entrepreneur Needs Programmers, Architects, or Engineers?

    Hi guys (Ladies included). I posted on a related site, but THIS is the place to be. I want to build a specialized website. I am an entrepreneur and refining valuations now for venture capitalsists: i.e., determining how much cash I will need. I need help in understanding what human resources I need (i.e., Software Programmers, Architects, Engineers, etc.)??? Trust me, I have read most--if not all--of the threads here on the subject, and I can tell you I am no closer to the answer than ever. Here's my technology problem: The website will include (2) main components: a search engine (web crawler)...and a very large database. The search engine will not be a competitor to google, obviously; however, it "will" require bots to scour the web. The website will be, basically, a statistical database....where users should be able to pull up any statistic from "numerous" fields. Like any entrepreneur with a web-based vision, I'm "hoping" to get 100+ million registered users eventually. However, practically, we will start as small as feasible. As regards the technology (database architecture, servers, etc.), I do want quality, quality, quality. My priorities are speed, and the capaility to be scalable...so that if I "did" get globally large, we could do it without having to re-engineer anything. In other words, I want the back-end and the "infrastructure" to be scalable and professional....with emphasis on quality. I am not an IT professional. Although I've built several Joomla-based websites, I'm just a rookie who's only used minor javascript coding to modify a few plug-ins and components. The business I'm trying to create requires specialization and experts. I want to define the problem and let a capable team create the final product, and I will stay totally hands off. So who do you guys suggest I hire to run this thing? A software engineer? I was thinking I would need a "database engineer," a "systems security engineer", and maybe 2 or 3 "programmers" for the search engine. Also a web designer...and maybe a part-time graphic designer...everyone working under a single software engineer. What do you guys think? Who should I hire?...I REALLY need help from some people in the industry (YOU guys) on this. Is this project do-able in 6 months? If so, how many people will I need? Who exactly needs to head up this thing?...Senior software engineer, an embedded engineer, a CC++ engineer, a java engineer, a database engineer? And do I build this thing is Ruby or Java?

Feels like a hack. Has anyone got a better approach? I don't like this because I have to read in a 125k string into memory. Is it valid rss to include "complex content" like that - a script block inside an element? Thanks.

  • WPF - Redrawing a Context Menu when Items change?

    I have a ItemsControl in a ScrollViewer, and when the items exceed the width of the ScrollViewer they are put into a ContextMenu and shown as a DropDown instead. My problem is that when the Context Menu is first loaded, it saves the saves the size of the Menu and does not redraw when more commands get added/removed. For example, a panel has 3 commands. 1 is visible and 2 are in the Menu. Viewing the menu shows the 2 commands and draws the control, but then if you resize the panel so 2 are visible and only 1 command is in the menu, it doesn't redraw the menu to eliminate that second menu item. Or even worse, if you shrink the panel so that no commands are shown and all 3 are in the Menu, it will only show the top 2.   • When will the ValueConverter's Convert method be called in wpf

    I have an ObservableCollection bound to a list box and a boolean property bound to a button. I then defined two converters, one that operates on the collection and the other operates on the boolean property. Whenever I modify the boolean property, the converter's Convert method is called, where as the same is not called if I modify the observable collection. What am I missing??     Is it possible for a WPF ListView that uses a GridView view (ListView.View property) to have one of its items 'expanded' i.e. create some control underneath the item. I cannot simply add another item as it will assume the GridView item template, i.e. appear with columns rather than being a single usable area. Some of the source folders are quite large, and the program doesn't crash for about 40 minutes after it starts.     I have a console application that is trying to load a CustomConfigurationSection from a web.config file. The custom configuration section has a custom configuration element that is required. This means that when I load the config section, I expect to see an exception if that config element is not present in the config. The problem is that the .NET framework seems to be completely ignoring the isRequired attribute. So when I load the config section, I just creates an instance of the custom configuration element and sets it on the config section. My question is, why is this happening? I want the GetSection() method to fire a ConfigurationErrors exception since a required element is missing from the configuration.
