  Hi All, I have created a sample java socket application. I used Socket s = new Socket(ip, port) Now it works fine. but when my internet connection is very slow that time after a long interval (even if sometimes after 2 minutes) i used to get SocketTimeOutException in that line. means it gives that error while creating socket. I want the exception should be handled properly means if internet connection is very slow then if that error occurs it happens very late now . I want if this type of error occurs then it should be caught very fast means the error should not come at such a delay interval of time rather it should come immediately. How to achieve this. • telling java to accept self-signed ssl certificate

  It looks like a standard question, but I couldn't find clear directions anywhere. I have java code trying to connect server with probably self-signed (or expired) certificate. It gives something like this [HttpMethodDirector] I/O exception (javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException) caught when processing request: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target As I understand, I have to play around with keytool and tell java that it's ok to allow this connection. But all comments I've found assume I'm fully proficient with keytool, like "generate private key for server and import it into keystore". And I'm not. Is there anybody who could post detailed instructions? I'm running unix, so bash script would be best. Not sure if it's important, but code executed in jboss. Thanks a lot!

• Downloading PKPass in an iOS custom app from my server

  I've setup a server which returns a PKPass. If I copy the URL to the browser, a pass is shown (both in my Mac and in my iPhone). I don't know what is the bug... The pass seems ok when I download it with Safari and even the code seems ok (there are just 3 simple rows...) Someone experienced with Passkit could help me? EDIT: the weird thing is that the exact same code is working in a fresh new project

• Unkillable console windows

  I'm developing an OpenGL based 2d simulation with GLUT under Visual C++ 2008, sometimes when I have an assert() or unhandled exception and break into the debugger, the GLUT display window closes, but the console window remains open.They just cant be killed!!! They do not show up with Task manager, Process Explorer or any other tool, I cannot find the window handle using the Spy++ tool either. Worst thing is they prevent my system (Windows XP) from shutting down, I have to manually poweroff (and of course I have to run chkdsk on my drives and invariably it finds and fixes minor errors after bad shutdowns) Has anyone come across such an issue?

• Strange behaviour with Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms

  I have a Windows Mobile application in which I want to check the device orientation. Therefore I wrote the following property in one of my forms: internal static Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.ScreenOrientation DeviceOriginalOrientation { get; private set; } The strange thing is that after that whenever I open a UserControl, the designer shows this warning even if that UserControl doesn't use the property: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=969db8053d3322ac' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040) Commenting the above property will dismiss the warning and shows the user control again. The application is built successfully and runs without any problems in both cases. Does anybody know why this happens and how can I fix it?

I receive the following exception when attempting to load an XML file... XmlDocument xmlDoc = new XmlDocument(); xmlDoc.LoadXml(record); Reference to undeclared entity 'eacute'. I was able to track down the proper ent file here. How do I tell XmlDocument to use this ent file when loading my XML file?

• DragDrop registration did not succeed in Setup Project

  Hello, we have some installation project in Visual Studio solution (Other project types - Setup and deployment - Setup project). This project have other library type project with Installation class named InstallationCore like project output. In user action I call to Install and Uninstall functions of installer of InstallationCore. InstallationCore has windows forms for interaction with user. There, in forms, I use Drag and Drop functionality for Drag and Drop text from Tree View to Text Box. But in line: txbUserName.AllowDrop = true; I get error of JIT debugger: Unhandled exception has occured DragDrop registration did not succeed System.InvalidOperationException: DragDrop registration did not succeed And long stack trace after that. Important to say, that when I run Installer function from test project the error did not occur and all work fine. Error occurs only when I run the .msi package. Any suggestions? Thank you for ahead.

  I am dealing with an interesting situation where I perform many database updates in a single transaction. If these updates fail for any reason, the transaction is rolled-back. IDbTransaction transaction try { transaction = connection.BeginTransaction(); // do lots of updates (where at least one fails) transaction.Commit(); } catch { transaction.Rollback(); // results in a timeout exception } finally { connection.Dispose(); } I believe the above code is generally considered the standard template for performing database updates within a transaction. The issue I am facing is that whilst transaction.Rollback() is being issued to SQL Server, it is also timing out on the client.   My Python Interpreter (v2.6.5) raises the above error in the following codepart: fd = open("some_filename", "r") fd.seek(-2, os.SEEK_END) #same happens if you exchange the second arg. w/ 2 data=fd.read(2); last call is fd.seek() Traceback (most recent call last): File "bot.py", line 250, in <module> fd.seek(iterator, os.SEEK_END); IOError: [Errno 22] Invalid argument The strange thing with this is that the exception occurs just when executing my entire code, not if only the specific part with the file opening. At the runtime of this part of code, the opened file definitely exists, disk is not full, the variable "iterator" contains a correct value like in the first codeblock. What could be my mistake?   I have a multiple select, and I need to force the user to choose maximum two options, nothing more. While if I do this: $(element).each(function(i, selected){ foo[i] = $(selected).text(); alert(foo[i]); }); It works but I get all the options in the select. Why is that? Is this the correct road to walk? Are there better ways to do this kind of check? Thank you very much!

I would really like to be able to attempt to call my web service / db, catch any faults such as a communication failure and then retry the same operation in 1 hours time (after I have logged the exception).   I have come across a strange behavior of Java that seems like a bug. Is it? Casting an Object to a generic type (say, K) does not throw a ClassCastException even if the object is not an instance of K. • IIS 7.5 powershell module usage issues

  Has anyone managed to use this module with success, i'm running 32bit Windows 7, where i have opened an administrator shell using run as administrator, i have imported the WebAdministration module and then attempted to use the commands with some issues, have provided two examples here Websites I created a web site with the following command new-website -name testsite -port 80 -hostheader testsite -physicalpath c:\temp Then i attempted to get the sites details using the command get-website -name testsite but it always returns all sites, seems to ignore the -name parameter. Only way i can get the site is using a filter get-website | ? { $_.name -eq 'testsite' } | get-member When i use appcmd it works as expected using the following command C:\> C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list site testsite AppPools When i try to list the apppools using the following command dir iis:\apppools i get the following error Get-ChildItem : Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) Yet when i use appcmd as follows i get all the apppools as expected without any error C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list apppool Has anyone successfully managed to use the WebAdministration module ? I can't determine where the UndeclaredThrowableException is coming from. • Android: Enable selection in webkit

  Hello, I'am looking for a way to have a webview content selectable in the very same way as the stock browser does. user long presses the text the whole word is selected two pins appear at the word's boundary allowing the user to stretch/shrink the selection. I should note that Dolphin HD shows exactly the same text select functionality as the default browser (same icons, animation, etc), so it really should be possible. But I can't figure out how. • Writing out BMP files with DataBuffer.TYPE_FLOAT or DataBuffer.TYPE_DOUBLE in java

  Hi Guys, I had a problem working with the image classes in java. I am creating a buffered image with DataBuffer.TYPE_DOUBLE. This all works fine in memory (I think). But the problem starts when I try to write it using ImageIO.write. Initially I was getting no exception at all and instead was only getting an empty output file for my troubles.. After a bit of poking around in the code, i found out that the bmp writer doesnt support writing type_double type of files. From: BMPImageWriterSpi.canEncodeImage: if (dataType < DataBuffer.TYPE_BYTE || dataType > DataBuffer.TYPE_INT) return false; So my question is, does anyone have a way of writing out those kind of images to disk? any documentation or tutorial, or link would be helpful.   Consider the following code: while(true) { someFunction(); Thread.sleep(1000); } What I want is that, someFunction() be called once every 10 seconds. But this is not the case. It is being called every second. I tried Thread.wait(1000), but even that doesnt help. I removed of the while part, just kept the body, and at the end wrote : Thread.start(); But it throwed an exception. Is there any other solution to this?
