How to alter my mac os $PATH variable so that I can run the latest php version? [closed]

Possible Duplicate: What are PATH and other environment variables, and how can I set or use them? I've just followed this article (http://mac.tutsplus.com/tutorials/server/upgrading-the-native-php-installation-on-os-x-mountain-lion/) to update my php installation using HomeBrew. The latest php version is indeed installed in /usr/local/bin The problem is that my $PATH variable is the following (doing an echo $PATH reveals it) : /usr/local/mysql/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/opt/X11/bin ...so the old version of php (that comes with mountain lion) always run first Any ideas on how to solve this? Thank you.

How can you import a root certificate to a machine level store in Windows 7

I have a service (Running as local system) that uses an SSL connection. Currently this connection fails because the remote host used a private CA to sign it's certificate. For previous operating systems, I used to use the certificate manager to import the CA cert into the local machine's Trusted Root certificates store. Though I can do the steps with a windows 7 machine, it seems after a reboot that the imported certificates are gone. Here are the steps I'm doing in Windows 7: Open mmc Add Certificates Snap-in for Local Machine Navigate to Third-Party Root Certification Authorities/Certificates Import Root CA Cert. The certificate seems to work fine, using internet explorer or the service to test the SSL connection works, but after a reboot it seems like the change is reverted.

close ssh sessions

I'm using ~/.ssh/config for logging to the internal.local corporate server: Host internal.local ProxyCommand ssh -e none corporate.proxy nc %h %p But after closing session (typing exit), my sshd session on server stays still active (I see it through different connection). Hot do I close session or change my config in the appropriate way, to eleminate hang sessions? First check from the second, root session: ps -fu user_name user_name 861 855 0 16:58:16 pts/3 0:00 -bash user_name 855 854 0 16:58:13 ? 0:00 /usr/lib/ssh/sshd After logging out: user_name 855 854 0 16:58:13 ? 0:00 /usr/lib/ssh/sshd Just after scp files to/from the internal.local a new scp sessions still hangs on the server.

When I try to install a software using Ubuntu Software center I get: Failed to download repository information Check Your Internet connection When I try to do a apt get-install something, I get: 407 Proxy Authentication Required I use a proxy server that requires a user-name and a password. I have set my systems proxy manually, by plugging in the required numbers in the Networks proxy and applied it system wide. I guess the problem now is plugging in my user-name and password. When I use INTERNET via Mozilla, it specifically asks me for my user-name and password.

Cannot open mailbox

Ive got a server running Windows Server 2012 and Exchange 2013 on my local domain. Ive got the mailboxes setup and can send/receive emails fine when using OWA. If i try to open the mailbox using Outlook 2010, I get the below error If i try to expand the folder, i get the same message but am still able to use OWA. When I try to run a send/receive, I get the below error: After a bit of researching on the web, people suggest that the profile is corrupt. I have recreated the profile and tried again but still same error. Another post has suggested that the issue is DNS and client PCs should be able to resolve autodiscover.domain.local and server.domain.local to the IP of the server. This is fine on my network. Every user has got the same issue and I am struggling to identify what is causing the fault. Advise appreciated.

Mirrored servers in data centers nationwide -- how?

I flubbed my IT interview with Google by getting this question wrong. I thought that in the various metropolitan areas, an "http://google.com" request went to a local DNS server in a geographically nearby datacenter, which then returned an IP address for just one of several nearby http servers, which then rollover'd to the next local server, and I could not explain how or where the nationwide DNS kept its table of the available local servers cached, or how such a rollover happened. Or how they could manually take some server out of rotation, from anywhere. Fail. So, which Wikipedia page should I be looking at now so I can ace this question next time? And, what daemons run on these machines 24/7 to keep the mirrored database disks synchronized?

Remote desktop auto start session on workstation login

I am setting up Remote Desktop Services for use by one of our remote offices. The workstations at the remote office are all Windows 7 Pro, joined to the domain. There is nothing installed on the local workstation othern than the Win7 OS. The remote and main office are linked via VPN. The workers will login to the local workstation, using their domain login, then right now double click an icon on the desktop which will do the RDP to the Remote Desktop Server. This does work fine, but requires some user education. Is there a way that when the user logs into the local workstation, it will start the RDP session right away and pass their username/password through as well? Would using a thin client PC do what I am asking? Thanks.

Automatic DNS population for routable IPV6 addresses

In ipv4 I can set my DHCP server to populate DNS with hostnames and IP addresses as clients are found. This works well and clients can resolve these DNS addresses to contact eachother over routed subnets. How can this be done in ipv6 without DHCP? Link Local Multicast Name Resolution can allow clients on the same subnet to discover eachothers hostnames and match them to link-local addresses, but so far I can't find a way for clients to advertise their global or unique local addresses and hostnames to a DNS server to be resolved across subnets.

Emacs can't find my installed modules

I run Perl/Tk or WWW::Mechanize just fine using terminal but when I try to invoke the interpreter through Emacs shell (M-!), it dies with a message: Can't locate tk.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.12.4 /usr/local/share/perl/5.12.4 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.12 /usr/share/perl/5.12 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at perl-tk.pl line 2. Obviously, this array @INC doesn't hold the path to my modules, the question is, how can I do that? I didn't find anything on emacs manual. I also googled it but to no avail.

Where is OS X's $PATH set?

I have a little $PATH problem: I just reinstalled MacPorts, and my path contains the MacPorts directories as it should at the beginning of $PATH. However, despite me having no such setting in my ~/.bashrc, ~/.bash_profile or ~/.profile, /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/bin is somehow getting appended to the beginning of my $PATH: 0 07:15:11pm ~ $ echo $PATH /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/bin:/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/bin I'd like to remove it as the MacPorts version of Python is newer. This must be appended after all the above-listed files are read, but I can't think of where. There is no mention of this in /etc/profile, /etc/bashrc or /etc/paths. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What is the point to namespaces in branches in git?

So I mainly use Mercurial for my projects and I decided to sit down and learn all Git's shenanigans to discover if I'm in the right side (at least for me). I'm learning that git uses namespaces for branches and I would like to know (in your experience) what is the point of namespaces?. In Mercurial I could just set the convention of naming branches like so: <branch name> //for "origin" branches <username>/<branch name> //for user branches I imagine that there is more to it than just the name (aside from avoiding naming conflicts), but what do I get out of this seemingly more complicated (not necessarily bad) model?

Output the total number of String Characters [migrated]

My Question is what method should I use if I wanted to get the total number of characters a user inputs? without using arrays, i tried using .length() but it did not return all characters say from the first and lastname, it only returned the first name. Here's an example of my code. (Please dont laugh im really new in programming :) ) System.out.print("Enter your first and last name: "); String yourName = keyboard.next(); System.out.println("Your name has a total of " + yourName.length() + " numbers"); what happened was if i enter say "Neo Matrix" it would only return 3. When IGD and DIS both exist in my pc,and I want to disable DIS,so I create a service to switch on and off the DIS.It works.Finally,I decide to add the service command into /etc/rc.local so that DIS will be powered off automatically.Unfortunately,it fails.There's only one command added by myself in the file /etc/rc.local,so I can affirm failure is caused by that added command. Before,I directly added the command "echo OFF /sys/kernel/debug..." into /etc/rc.local,and when I restarted,the system startup fails.So I thought maybe when the command is executed,the DIS hasn't been powered on or ready for work.So conflict occurs!It's just my prediction.Then I added one line command "sleep 1s" before the "echo OFF ...",it works nearly everytime when I start or restart pc,while fails sometimes. The output result of "cat /sys/kernel/debug..." is as following: 0:IGD:+:Pwr:0000:00:02.0 1:DIS: :Pwr:0000:01:00.0 I want know 0000:00:02.0 means what?Time of first power on? If it was really time,I can set the command "sleep 2s" to wait for DIS powered on then "echo OFF ..." Thanks for your advice!

ant undeploy task error

I am using ant 1.7 to deploy and undeploy applications in tomcat //Snippet from my build.xml <target name="deploy" depends="war" description="Install application to the servlet containor"> <deploy the undeploy task gives an html output for the undeploy task prefixed with [undeploy] although the application is undeployed successfully The html message also contains the success message 'OK - C++ std::vector insert segfault

I am writing a test program to understand vector's better. In one of the scenarios, I am trying to insert a value into the vector at a specified position. The code compiles clean. However, on execution, it is throwing a Segmentation Fault from the v8.insert(..) line (see code below). I am confused. Hi! I have a problem, and I have not found the solution yet. I woud like to create a base custom control and use it in another custom control. The base control work fine when I use in a window, but when I use in the other custom control, the binding does not work. What's wrong with my code? Code only runs properly if debugging step-by-step

Hello, I'm making a webserver and I've come up with some very strange problems. My server was running as expected yesterday when I turned off my laptop, but today it only sends the http headers (I didn't change anything) When a user requests a file, if I send them using the following code, it works perfectly: while ((n = fread(data, 1, sizeof(data), file)) > 0) send(ts, data, n, 0); but if I change it to this, it only sends ~2% of the file. How to solve "403 Forbidden" on CentOS6 with SELinux Disabled?

I have a machine on Linode that is driving me crazy. Linode does not have SELinux on CentOS6... I'm trying to configure to put my website in "/home/websites/public_html/mysite.com/public" As I don´t have SELinux enable, how can I avoid the "403 Forbidden" that I get when trying to access the webpage? 'pip install carbon' looks like it works, but pip disagrees afterward

I'm trying to use pip to install the package carbon, a package related to statistics collection. When I run pip install carbon, it looks like everything works. However, pip is unconvinced that the package is actually installed. (This ultimately causes trouble because I'm using Puppet, and have a rule to install carbon using pip, and when puppet asks pip "is this package installed?" it says "no" and it reinstalls it again.) How do I figure out what's preventing pip from recognizing the success of this installation? Troubleshoot Perl module installation on Mac OS X

I'm trying to install the Perl module Set::IntervalTree on Mac OS X. I recently installed it today on an Ubuntu box with no problem. I simply started cpan, entered install Set:IntervalTree, and it all worked out. However, the installation failed on Mac OS X--it spits out a huge list of compiler errors (below). How would I troubleshoot this. .htaccess not working (mod_rewrite)

Edit: I am pretty sure my .htaccess file is NOT being executed, and the problem is NOT with my rewrite rules. I have not having any luck getting my .htaccess with mod_rewrite working. Basically all I am trying to do is remove 'www' from "http://www.site.com" and "https://www.site.com". If there is anything I am missing (conf files, etc let me know I willl update this) I jsut can't see whats wrong here... Update a list from another list

I have a list of users in local store that I need to update from a remote list of users every once in a while. Basically: If a remote user already exists locally, update its fields. If a remote user doesn't already exist locally, add the user. If a local user doesn't appear in the remote list, deactivate or delete. If a local user also appears in the remote list, update its fields. Just a simple case of syncing the local list. Is there a better way to do this in pure Java than the following? Bazaar newbie question about repository structures

I want to use Bazaar on Windows XP for web-development and related tasks. Most of the files are edited locally and then transferred via FTP to the server. Just now the repository sits on my local workstation. Later on it should be shared locally with some co-workers. Perhaps we will use a local Linux server as a centralized repository, but this structure is not decided for now. But first I need to understand the impacts of the different repository setups, which I do not at all. Using Bazaar-Explorer on Windows XP I’ve created a ‘shared tree repository’ from the option list of the init-dialogue in some location dev-filter/. Bazaar Explorer tells me: Created repository with treeless branches at F:/bzr.local/dev-filter Created branch at F:/bzr.local/dev-filter/trunk Created working tree at F:/bzr.local/dev-filter/work OK so far. Now I move a bunch of files into the work directory and add and commit them as Rev 1 ‘Start Revision’. Then I work on some of these files and commit them again as Rev 2. Here my confusion starts. Shouldn’t both revisions go into the trunk? The trunk is still empty, beside the .bzr directory which only holds some management information. If I delete my working directory, which I have tried during these first experiments, everything is gone. There’s obviously no hidden storage of those files. OK. Perhaps I need to push it into the trunk? This does not work either. Entering the work/ directory and initializing the ‘push’ to the trunk, Bazaar-Explorer tells me No new revisions to push. So what? This looks like a severe conceptual misunderstanding about what should happen on my side. Edit, 2010-02-03: Some conclusions What I learned meanwhile is this: I think I should switch to the command line until I really understand what’s going on, at least for creating the repositories and branches. Bazaar Explorer introduces a new level of abstraction which I only can handle if I understand the level beneath One of the secrets of working with Bazaar at least for me is to understand those .bzr directories, their particular properties and states when created with ‘bzr init’, ‘bzr init-repository’, ‘bzr branch’ etc. in all their variants and how they are plumped together. While there’s a whole chapter of ‘Organizing your workspace’ in the Bazaar User Guide, it’s more or less workflow oriented. The manual contains a lot of directory structures for the given examples. What I would prefer beside this and have not (or only rudimentary) found so far is some graphical representation of those ‘Lego like’ .bzr building blocks which create the linking of all the parts. So I started to invent some simple notation while working through the examples and looking into the .bzr directories to document what information is stored there, where does it come from, how and to what is it linked, is it complete or shared, etc. Erich Schreiber
