  • How to change the delay time for Aero Peek?

    The Aero Peek feature is incredibly useful for me, but I want it to happen more quickly. This question (answered by KronoS) tells how to change the delay time before the popups occur when hovering over the open application icons on the taskbar. However, this registry tweak does not work to speed up the desktop peek functionality when the mouse is moved over the 'desktop' area of the task bar. Any idea how to speed up this function?

  • Error opening microsoft.com in Windows 7

    I need help with my browsers. In Windows 7 Basic I have 2 browsers installed: Internet Explorer 8 and Google Chrome. When I try to open pages which are associated with Microsoft (like Live and others), my browser crashes; Internet Explorer 8 crashes too. But Opera (I've installed it later) works fine with those pages. P.S. I tried to scan my PC for trojans and viruses, but it's clean.

  • Adobe Reader not loading form content

    We have an FDL file which is used to offer an online application possibility. The FDL is filled out and sent to a mailbox. When I open the received file, Adobe Reader starts, loads the document in Internet Explorer (had to change my default browser because it doesn't work in chrome - the customer uses IE as default) and displays a warning that Adobe Reader has blocked the connection to the server where the initial document is saved: I can then click on "Trust this document once" (translated by me!) or "Add this host to trusted hosts" (also translated by me!). The second option doesn't work at all. The first option works but is a little bit annoying. I looked into Adobe Readers options (Edit - "Voreinstellungen" in german / the last option - Security (advanced)) and found the possibility to add hosts, files and directories or allow Adobe Reader to use the "Trusted Websites" list from Internetoptions. When I add the website either to Trusted Websites or the trusted list in Adobe Readers options, the warning doesn't pop up but the content in the prefilled (by the applicant) input boxes of the document doesn't show up on Windows 7 but it does show up on Windows XP. This Screenshot shows the settings window described in the last paragraph. The big input box at the bottom normally holds the trusted files/directories/hosts list. System Information: Windows 7 Enterprise x64 Adobe Reader X multiple IE versions (mine is latest but there's also IE 7 or 8) How do I get Adobe Reader to load the content of the form? This behaviour can be reproduced on a PC. When opening an fdf from a command line the form fields are blank even though there is data in the fdf and the pdf is located in a mnaully entered trsuted folder. Steps to reproduce: Clean install a Windows 7 PC (or use a virtual box) Map a network drive to a shared folder with a subfolder e.g. c:\test\docs becomes m:\docs Set security permissions to allow full control to everyone Add an fdf and a matching pdf file in the subfolder Manually add m:\docs to each of the trusted folders in the trust manager registry settings Ensure that Enhanced Security is on Run a command line to open the fdf file Expected result: pdf is opened in Adobe Reader with form fields filled out with data Actual results: pdf is opened with blank fields 'Yellow bar' appears asking to add document to trusted locations It appears that Adobe Reader XI is ignoring the privileged locations entries in the registry. Adding the document via the 'yellow bar' adds the individual document, with the same folder, to the privileged locations but means that the process has to be repeated for every document that needs to be opened from the folder.

  • Using a SD card as a smart card for two-step verification for Mac logon

    What I am trying to do is create two-step verification to logon to my mac, one being that you would need to input a SD card (formated with special format or something) and then also have a password. Is there any software out there that could do this or any way of programming it so that once it reads the SD Card it makes the password bar visible for logon. Would it be easier to do it with Linux since it is open source? Any help in the right direction is appreciated. Thanks

    so I've been trying to reencode a .mp4 video I have into a .avi so my cousin can use it on his Windows machine. He's not very tech-savvy, and doesn't want to deal with downloading any new programs to open .mp4 videos, but thats beside the point. The current string I'm using is ffmpeg -i Courage.Under.Fire.1996.BRRip.H264.AAC.5.1ch.Gopo.mp4 -sameq -acodec copy -vcodec copy CourageUnderFire.avi It produces the video, however doesn't give me any audio. Any assistance?

    I can't open my hard disk drive. The error box says "RUnDLL, there was a problem starting ~$WCFLPM.FAT32 The specified module could not be found". My HDD has a virus before. My hard disk contains a shortcut and the shortcut contains all files. I don't want to format it just yet because it contains quite many files. I tried troubleshooting it but none of the solutions in the internet helped.

I succeed installing it to local store and store of domain user with administrator privileges, but when I connect with local administrator and try to install it I get error: The import failed because the store was read-only, the store was full, or the store did not open correctly.     Many companies offer unlimited online backup space for a fixed price (mozy.com, twitter.com/allmydata, onlinestoragesolution.com, etc), but they either use proprietary non-Linux-friendly software and/or have gone out of business and/or don't actually work. Who offers reliable unlimited online backup space for a fixed price that's compatible with rsync, FTP, or other generic/open source file transfer protocols? Or, has anyone written software that lets me treat Mozy's/etc space as though it were regular file space (eg, "mozyfs"?)

  • Best way to clean the Apple Mighty Mouse?

    As much as I love Apple products' designs, I still don't like the mighty mouse. The scrolling keeps stopping in between very frequently. I tried the instructions provided on Apple's site and it does make the scrolling smooth but only momentarily. Isn't there any way to open it up and clean like a normal mouse? Or any other way to clean it better?

  • Windows 7 New Folder shortcut doesn't work, opens browser/Firefox

    I was so excited to hear that Windows 7 Explorer now has a hotkey to create a new folder (ctrl+shift+N), but I tried it on my machine, and it doesn't work!! If I press ctrl+shift+N in a Windows Explorer window, it opens up my default web browser (Firefox) and tries to open the last downloaded file. How do I get Create New Folder functionality back? Notes: Windows 7, Firefox is default browser. Keyboard is MS Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000.

  • Firefox appending .xls extension to .xlsx files

    We are serving files with the .xlsx (excel 2007/2010) extension. IE, Chrome, Safari all download the file and open excel just fine. Firefox is being stupid. For some reason it's appending .xls to the extension. I found this: https://support.mozilla.com/bs/questions/758363 However, the instructions weren't very specific and completely unclear to me. How can I tell Firefox not to screw with the file extension? Thanks,

  • Strange permission errors with Windows Server 2008

    I just don't know a better way to describe my issue that is driving me nuts. I am trying to establish a test domain with virtual machines on a box that has Win7 with VMwware workstation installed. The purpouse with this domain will be so that we can try and test different situations before they go into the production network. I build a VM with WinSrv2008R2 and I am using that VM as a template to make other servers for the domain by making clones of it. Now I raise a DC with one clone and a member server with another clone - I add the server to the domain. I am following a standard procedure as always (it is not my first domain). Then I make an admin account and I am adding the admin to be a member of the Domain and Enterprise Admins group. That admin is admin with full priviledges on the DC.. no problem there. But on the other server has ... somewhat half the privileges and I cant log in via RDP. I tryed with another account. Same issues. For example (with half the privileges): I can't open the Even Viewer if I go via Start - Administrative Tools - Event Viewer. But I can open the Even Viewer via the server manager. You can notice this on the image below. I mean WTF??? I am going crazy, I haven't experienced anything similar in my three years of expertise. I already lost 3 days troubleshooting this. Could this be related with the cloning? Perhaps if I make fresh installs of WinSrv2008 there won't be any problems? I've had raised test domains as VMs on other occasions before, and there weren't any problems then. This is VMware Workstation 8. I've made clones before, on Workstation 7 it didn't had any problems. Of course, all of my history, bookmarks and 6 saved passwords are gone Yesterday, I installed LassPass add-on, and only import Firefox saved password When I open Firefox, goto Facebook, all of my 6 password are appeared So, my question is, when I select Forget about this site, did Firefox remove my passwords completely?
