  • Any valid reason to Nest Master Pages in ASP.Net rather than Inherit?

    Currently in a debate at work and I cannot fathom why someone would intentionally avoid Inheritance with Master Pages. For reference here is the project setup: BaseProject MainMasterPage SomeEvent SiteProject SiteMasterPage nested MainMasterPage OtherSiteProject MainMasterPage (from BaseProject) The debate came up because some code in BaseProject needs to know about "SomeEvent". With the setup above, the code in BaseProject needs to call this.Master.Master. That same code in BaseProject also applies to OtherSiteProject which is just accessed as this.Master. SiteMasterPage has no code differences, only HTML differences. If SiteMasterPage Inherits MainMasterPage rather than Nests it, then all code is valid as this.Master. Can anyone think of a reason why to use a Nested Master Page here instead of an Inherited one?

    Question: Is it possible to use FM radio WITHOUT internet connection or special devices ? On my Android phone, I can plug in the headphones, which are in turn used as antenna. Since Android is Linux and Ubuntu is also Linux, it should be possible to do this on a plain old Ubuntu notebook (13.04), too. Is it ? If yes, which application can I use for FM-Radio ? Note: I repeat: Live FM-Radio WITHOUT internet connection at the time of listening :)

  • How to make Unity 3D work with Bumblebee using the Intel chipset

    I have a Sony VAIO S laptop with the dreaded Optimus and finally managed to get Bumblebee to work fully on Ubuntu 12.04 so that I can utilize both the hardware acceleration of the Intel chipset as well as the Nvidia one via optirun and/or bumble-app-settings. However, the desktop effects don't work. But they should, I vaguely remember that they worked for a while before I had Bumblebee installed. This is what I get with the support test: :~$ /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0". OpenGL vendor string: Tungsten Graphics, Inc OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ivybridge Mobile OpenGL version string: 1.4 (2.1 Mesa 8.0.2) Not software rendered: yes Not blacklisted: yes GLX fbconfig: yes GLX texture from pixmap: yes GL npot or rect textures: yes GL vertex program: yes GL fragment program: yes GL vertex buffer object: no GL framebuffer object: yes GL version is 1.4+: yes Unity 3D supported: no First of all, I kind of doubt that the chipset doesn't support VBOs (essentially a standard feature in GL). Neither Xorg.0.log nor Xorg.8.log show any particular errors. As for the Nvidia drivers: In order to get them to work, I had to install the 304.22 drivers (older ones wouldn't work). They clobbered libglx.so, so I reinstated the xserver-xorg-core libglx.so in its original place, moved Nvidia's libglx.so to an nvidia-specific folder and specified that folder in the bumblebee.config. That seems to work and shouldn't cause the problem I see here.   • Can I set my Optimus Nvidia card to run Unity3D with bumblebee?

    I'd like to know whether I can run compiz on my Nvidia card to speed things up. It's a Dell XPS15 laptop but I'm mostly using it as a desktop, so battery life is not important. Apparently my Intel integrated card is able to run unity 3D, but my Nvidia GT 420M is not.     Current configuration file is as follows: mainwindow.title = 'test' mainwindow.position.x = 100 mainwindow.position.y = 200 mainwindow.button.label = 'apply' mainwindow.button.size.x = 100 mainwindow.button.size.y = 30 logger.datarate = 100 logger.enable = True logger.filename = './test.log' This is read with python to a nested dictionary: { 'mainwindow':{ 'button':{ 'label': {'value':'apply'}, ... }, 'logger':{ datarate: {'value': 100}, enable: {'value': True}, filename: {'value': './test.log'} }, ... } Is there a better way of doing this? The idea is to get XML type of behavior and avoid XML as long as possible. The end user is assumed almost totally computer illiterate and basically uses notepad and copy-paste. Thus the python standard "header + variables" type is considered too difficult. The dummy user edits the config file, able programmers handle the dictionaries. Nested dictionary is chosen for easy splitting (logger does not need or even cannot have/edit mainwindow parameters).

  • how do i install intermediate certificate

    I have installed private key (pem encoded) and public key certificate (pem encoded) on amazon load balancer however when i check the ssl with site test tool (http://www.networking4all.com/en/support/tools/site+check/), i get the following error Error while checking the SSL Certificate!! Unable to get the local issuer of the certificate. The issuer of a locally looked up certificate could not be found. Normally this indicates that not all intermediate certificates are installed on the server. i converted crt file to pem using these command from this tutorial openssl x509 -in input.crt -out input.der -outform DER openssl x509 -in input.der -inform DER -out output.pem -outform PEM during setting up of amazon load balancer only option i left out was certificate chain (pem encoded) however this was optional. could this be cause of my issue? and if so i how do i create certificate chain? for the last question i have tried googling however i'm getting more confused than before. please help many thanks in advance. UPDATE @all thanks for the helpful advice. if you make request to verisign they will give you a certificate chain however this chain includes public crt, intermediate crt and root crt. make sure to remove the public crt from your certificate chain (which is the top most certificate) before adding it to your certification chain box of your amazon load balancer. if you are making https request from an android app then above instruction may not work for older android os such as 2.1 and 2.2. to make it work on older android os [https://knowledge.verisign.com/support/ssl-certificates-support/index?page=content&id=AR657&actp=LIST&viewlocale=en_US]. on this link click on "retail ssl" tab and then click on "secure site" "CA Bundle for Apache Server". copy and past these intermediate certs into certificate chain box. just incase if you have not found it here is the direct link [https://knowledge.verisign.com/support/ssl-certificates-support/index?page=content&id=AR1409] if you are using geo trust certificates then solution is much the same for android devices however you need to copy and past their intermediate certs for android.   • Calculate vector direction

    Is the direction angle always measured from the plus x axis? Does a vector in the +,+ quadrant always have a direction between 0 and 90, and in -,+ between 90 and 180 and in -,- between 180 and 270 and in -,+ between 270 and 360 ? Also, how should we calculate the direction using tan? Would that mean nested if statements to find out what quadrant we're in, and then applying the appropriate "work arounds"? E.g. If we were in the -,+ (like in the diagram) would we find the angle from the + axis would be 90 + tan^-1(y/x), the 90 + only used because we're in the -,+ quadrant. Also, that's just a quick solution, may be off, I just want to know if we use nested if statements to get the angle from the + x axis. Finally, should we find the distance in degrees or radians?
