• Is your Xcode4 stable?

  I have upgraded to Xcode4, and I'm experiencing unbelievable situation. Xcode4 crashes per 5 minute. Incredibly slow. Almost impossible to use. Maybe the problem is my hardware configuration. I'm using MacBook Air 3rd with 2GB ram with SSD. It was just fine with Xcode3, but now, it consumes all of memory and crashes too often. Does your Xcode4 stable? If so, please let me know what's your hardware configuration. I want to know whether this problem is caused by hardware configuration or not to decide buy a new mac.

• Live boot from hard disk problem

  I've installed Ubuntu Desktop 13.04 32bit. Next I configured /etc/grub.d/40_custom to boot live system from ubuntu.iso (also Desktop 13.04 32 bit) I used configuration: menuentry "Ubuntu 13.04 Desktop" { loopback loop /boot/ubuntu.iso linux (loop)/casper/vmlinuz.efi boot=casper iso-scan/filename=/boot/ubuntu.iso noeject noprompt splash -- initrd (loop)/casper/initrd.lz } and it works OK. Later I made some changes on my installed ubuntu. I made some configuration, installed additional packages and so on. After that I made backup using remastersys tool. Remastersys gave me new ISO file. So I wanted to use it. And here was first problem. Remastersys creates only initrd.gz file. So I changed the grub configuration form: initrd (loop)/casper/initrd.lz to: initrd (loop)/casper/initrd.gz But after that, when I reboot my system I get error: /init: line 3: can't open /dev/sr0: No medium found Any ideas how to fix it? • Issues with ILMerge, Lambda Expressions and VS2010 merging?

  A little Background For quite some time now, it’s been possible to merge multiple .NET assemblies into a single assembly using ILMerge in Visual Studio 2008.  This is especially helpful when writing wrapper assemblies for 3rd-party libraries where it’s desirable to minimize the number of assemblies for distribution.  During the merge process, ILMerge will take a set of assemblies and merge them into a single assembly.  The resulting assembly can be either an executable or a DLL and is identified as the primary assembly. Issue During a recent project, I discovered using ILMerge to merge assemblies containing lambda expressions in Visual Studio 2010 is resulting in invalid primary assemblies.  The code below is not where the initial issue was identified, I will merely use it to illustrate the problem at hand. In order to describe the issue, I created a console application and a class library for calculating a few math functions utilizing lambda expressions.  The code is available for download at the bottom of this blog entry. The MathLib.dll assembly was built in release configuration and copied to the MathLib folder.  The following folder hierarchy was used for this example:   The project file for ILMergeLambdasConsole project file was edited to add the ILMerge post-build configuration.  The following lines were added near the bottom of the project file:  <Target Name="AfterBuild" Condition="'$(Configuration)' == 'Release'"> <Exec Command="&quot;..\..\lib\ILMerge\Ilmerge.exe&quot; /ndebug /out:@(MainAssembly) &quot;@(IntermediateAssembly)&quot; @(ReferenceCopyLocalPaths->'&quot;%(FullPath)&quot;', ' ')" /> <Delete Files="@(ReferenceCopyLocalPaths->'$(OutDir)%(DestinationSubDirectory)%(Filename)%(Extension)')" /> </Target> The ILMergeLambdasConsole project was modified to reference the MathLib.dll located in the MathLib folder above. ILMerge and ILMerge.exe.config was copied into the ILMerge folder shown above.  The contents of ILMerge.exe.config are: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> <requiredRuntime safemode="true" imageVersion="v4.0.30319" version="v4.0.30319"/> </startup> </configuration> Post-ILMerge After compiling and building, the MathLib.dll assembly will be merged into the ILMergeLambdasConsole executable.  Unfortunately, executing ILMergeLambdasConsole.exe now results in a crash.  The ILMerge documentation recommends using PEVerify.exe to validate assemblies after merging.  Executing PEVerify.exe against the ILMergeLambdasConsole.exe assembly results in the following error:    Further investigation by using Reflector reveals the divisibleBy method in the MathHelpers class looks a bit questionable after the merge.     Prior to using ILMerge, the same divisibleBy method appeared as the following in Reflector: It’s pretty obvious something has gone awry during the merge process.  However, this is only occurring when building within the Visual Studio 2010 environment.  The same code and configuration built within Visual Studio 2008 executes fine.  I’m still investigating the issue.  If anyone has already experienced this situation and solved it, I would love to hear from you.  However, as of right now, it looks like something has gone terribly wrong when executing ILMerge against assemblies containing Lambdas in Visual Studio 2010. • Wine: How to open a whole folder, not a single file?

  I am using foobar2000 under my Ubuntu with Wine since… I don't know. Now, with the new Ubuntu 12.10 release foobar2000 was not starting anymore correctly so I reinstalled it (foobar2000 1.1.15, wine 1.4). Naturally I have to set up my foobar2000 configuration from scratch but thats not a problem at all. Everything works fine except adding whole folders to the music library using the Add-button under "File-Preferences-Media Library". Problem is one can only open files with the Add-dialog but not a whole folder. Under Windows everything works fine. Editing the foobar2000 configuration file ([foobar2000-folder]/configuration/Core.cfg) by hand does not work… I also tried it with a hex editor. :( So… what can I do? Thanks. :)

  Our site offers several families of products, all of which have a common set of configurations. For simplicity's sake, we'll say we offer products A, B and C, each with configurations 1, 2 and 3 Products: A, B, C Configurations: 1, 2, 3 We want to create landing page <- ad group combinations that reflect each possible combination of each product and configuration. Each product and each configuration have their own page, and so each landing page would have include the product content and the configuration content: ourproducts.com/A-1 (Contains copy for A and 1) ourproducts.com/A-2 ourproducts.com/A-3 ourproducts.com/B-1 ... etc... As you can see, this will lead to duplicate content across our product pages, though in different combinations. My question is, does this matter from AdWords point of view? Will there be any negative consequence to repeating portions of content this way?

  I'm re-working on the design of an existing application which is build using WebForms. Currently the plan is to work it into a MVP pattern application while using Ninject as the IoC container. The reason for Ninject to be there is that the boss had wanted a certain flexibility within the system so that we can build in different flavor of business logic in the model and let the programmer to choose which to use based on the client request, either via XML configuration or database setting. I know that Ninject have no need for XML configuration, however I'm confused on how it can help to dynamically inject the dependency into the system? Imagine I have a interface IMember and I need to bind this interface to the class decided by a xml or database configuration at the launch of the application, how can I achieve that?

  With release 12.2.4 for non-referenced RMAs, Order Management will allow you to configure the model from Sales Order / Quick Sales Order windows. This is only allowable when profile  OM: Enable Configuration UI for RMA is set to Yes.  All selected options must be returnable, as well as all included items. Order Management explodes included items and creates options and option classes in a way similar to outbound orders. • Multi-file, simultaneous, drag-and-drop file uploads in the browser without ActiveX?

  I like how Windows Skydrive lets you drag files into Internet Explorer where an ActiveX component uploads those files to your Skydrive account in a queue. This avoids the cumbersome traditional HTML approach where you present multiple "Browse" buttons and the user has to select individual files one by one, click Upload and then select more files after the first batch completes. What I'm not sure is how the same effect could be achieved in a web app without ActiveX. Any suggestions?

• XCode newb -- #include can't find my file

  I'm trying to get a third party audio library (STK) working inside XCode. Along with the standard .h files, many of the implimentation files include a file called SKINI.msg. SKINI.msg is in the same directory as all of the header files. The header files are getting included fine, but the compiler complains that it can't find SKINI.msg. What do I need to do to get XCode to happily include SKINI.msg?

• Can Ghostscript to start numbering pages from zero?

  I am using Ghostscript to convert a multi-page pdf to individual jpg files and can get it to output the files numbered like page_%03d.jpg but it always starts at page_001.jpg and i need it to start numbering the output files starting from page_000.jpg. Is there a setting i can use to get Ghostscript to start at zero or am i going to have to rename all the files after processing?

  Any idea why my Restore command works fine when run in Management Studio 2008 but not when run from the dos prompt? Shown below is the error when running from the dos prompt.   We recently moved to a webfarm and setup dfs, only to find a beta application was creating files like there was no tomorrow. 1.2 million files were replicated across the farm, and since then we have prevented the application from creating new files, but every time we try to remove the files, it replaces them on each server because of replication. The process of replacing them actually causes to server to run slowly and in some cases stall. Is there any way we can stop replication at a folder level?

  In our developer environment, no users have administration rights. As such, it's not possible to install MSBuild.CommunityTasks without getting admin to do so. What I'm wondering is similar to NAnt, i.e. is it possible to include the files in your solution directory, and just reference it from there? This way, will not matter if the person has it installed, when they checkout latest code, the msbuild community files will come with, and solution will build. \SolutionDir\{solution}.sln \SolutionDir\Project\{files} \SolutionDir\MSBuild.Community\files
