  • Java embedded applet page security, how to properly meet its recquirements?

    If I have an applet embedded in a webpage and I want it to connect to server side software (also written in Java) how can I do this properly on a windows machine running local host? Would I have to run the java application from within the localhost directory and access the applet html from a browser (i.e. localhost/applet.html)? From what I undestand if you don't have everything setup correctly you won't be able to connect because of Java's security requirements. Thanks for any help :)

    In a WebForm I have TextBox FreeTextBox(Third party tool) CheckBox I gave tab index value for TextBox as 1 and CheckBox as 2 by setting TextBox to default focus. The Problem is after the page is loaded when I press tab, insted of moving focus to checkbox, URL bar of the browser is getting focused. Thank You.

  • Can JavaScript load raw bytes to use in HTML 5 Canvas?

    Say I had a file like... http://my.website.com/myfile.raw and this file was just raw bytes, representing an intensity image. Is it possible to grab this data and read the bytes in JavaScript? And then using it with HTML 5 canvas (e.g., putImageData) to draw an image? Or is there some other way to do this in the browser without Java or Flash?

  • On Linux/Unix, does .tar.gz versus .zip matter?

    Cross-platform programs are sometimes distributed as .tar.gz for the Unix version and .zip for the Windows version. This makes sense when the contents of each must be different. If, however, the contents are going to be the same, it would be simpler to just have one download. Windows prefers .zip because that's the format it can handle out of the box. Does it matter on Unix? That is, I tried today unzipping a file on Ubuntu Linux, and it worked fine; is there any problem with this on any current Unix-like operating system, or is it okay to just provide a .zip file across the board?

  • Replacing a C++ ActiveX component with a .NET implementation?

    I have existing managed and unmanaged software using an ActiveX component supplied by a third party to perform some communications, but it is now required that this communication be routed through my application. Ideally I'd be able to install a .NET component which will expose exactly the same interface, and will be usable as a drop-in replacement. However, I am running into the limits of my understanding of COM, which admittedly is quite minimal. How best to ensure that my implementation of the interface is 100% binary compatible with the existing object? How do I ensure that applications use my implementation of the interface instead of the legacy implementation? Is it simply a matter of registering my implementation, and unregistering the legacy one? How do I ensure it's a "drop-in" replacement, and requires no changes to existing software? How do I ensure unmanaged code can use it without issue? Note: I am able to require that .NET 4.0 be used, if that will make things simpler.

  • Netbeans or Eclipse for C++?

    I'm currently working on a pet project and need to do C++ development on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris, and I've narrowed it down to Netbeans and Eclipse, so I was wonderig which is more solid as a C++ editor. I just need solid editing, good autocompletion for templated code ad external libraries, and project file management, the build tools are external, so thats irrelevant here, for my comparison. Thus which is a better choice? Note: I know I should be using emacs or vim, but the issue is, my theory at least, that I'm left handed, so I use my right side (design,creativity) of the brain more than the left side (logic, memory), so I just simply cannot use emacs or vim, my brain simply isn't compatible, I tried them many times too, even used emacs for a few months but it drove me crazy...   • jQuery slideToggle - when div is toggled it pushes content out of viewable area (IE)

    This is an annoying ocurrance in IE when I use the jQuery slideToggle effect. Without the div being open, page looks normal. The minute I toggle the div open, it extends past the current content, overtop of the footer, and out of the viewable browser area (Even after scrolling all the way down). This feature seems to work just fine in firefox. Do I need an additional hack or CSS to make it work in IE8?

  • How do I add "Press any key to boot from usb" when installing Windows from a flash drive? (Grub4dos question / how to remove a bootloader)

    Hi there! I've been struggling with this problem for a while now and finially decided to ask for help. Let me first explain what the main purpose of the app is: to provide the a very easy to use way of backing up files, after which I format the drive and start Windows 7 setup. I do this by booting WinPE, which runs a script to detect Windows installations and then opens a file browser. After the file browser is closed, the script continues and formats the drive that contains the Windows installation, and starts an unattended Windows 7 install. Now here is the problem: When you start Windows setup or WinPE from a dvd, you get a nice option to "Press any key to boot from DVD". This is to prevent the computer from booting the DVD when the first phase of the installation is complete and the computer reboots. However, when booting from a flash drive, Windows does not provide this option: it simply boots the flash drive every reboot. To replicate the "press any key" function, I installed Grub4Dos, which works great. It provides a small menu, the first standard item being "Continue installation", the second being "start installation". After quite a lot of tweaking, I got everything working: Start installation starts WinPE, which in turn starts the Windows installation. At first reboot, the Grub4Dos menu comes up, counts 5 seconds and boots the second stage of the installation. Here, I am greeted with the error: "Windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computer's hardware." When I boot into WinPE the normal way (put the bootmgr on the stick root) and change my bios to boot from the primary hdd after first reboot, I don't get this error. I've been looking around, and the only thing I could find was that the BIOS automatically names the boot device hd0, and that Windows can only be run / installed to hd 0. I'm not sure if this is the problem. I read about remapping to solve this problem, but to do that you have to know the phisical location of the hard drive and partition, like hd(0,1). I want this flash drive to work on any PC, regardless of where the OS is installed, so that's not really a possibility. A possible fix I thought of is removing the bootloader from the flash drive when I'm in WinPE. That way, when the pc reboots the BIOS will not see the flash drive as a boot drive and instead boot the primary hdd. I have yet to find a way to do this.   • accessing SQL syntax reference in mysql workbench

    Finding it a little bit tedious migrating to the new Mysql Workbench (5.2.22) even though it has many more features than the older GUI tools. Right now I'm confused why I can't find an SQL reference when I open the Doc Library. Is there a way to access this info within the workbench, I'd prefer not to have to open a browser to access reference info on the web.

    I have just downloaded the fresh copy of phppowerpoint and added the following line of code 'phppowerpoint' = MODPATH.'phppowerpoint', and now my page got blank and I got the following error: The character encoding of the HTML document was not declared. The document will render with garbled text in some browser configurations if the document contains characters from outside the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the page must to be declared in the document or in the transfer protocol. Any thoughts? Thanks.
