• WPF NotifyIcon Help C#

  Hi everyone. I'm having trouble with a NotifyIcon in WPF I currently have the following: notifyI = new NotifyIcon(); notifyI.Icon = new Icon("Power.ico"); notifyI.Text = "Shutdown Timer"; notifyI.Visible = true; notifyI.MouseDoubleClick += new System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventHandler(notifyI_MouseDoubleClick); The thing is the notifyI.Icon = new Icon("Power.ico") is keep throwing and exception. I can't seem to find a way to use the icon file I have in the resources, can anyone help. Thanks, I am using VS2010 and Blend 3.

  I placed a control into a grid. let's say the control is derived from public class 'ButBase' which is derived in its turn from System.Windows.Controls.Button. The code normally compiles and app works just fine. But there's something really annoying. When you try to switch to xaml-design tab it will say 'The document root element is not supported by the visual designer', which is normal and I'm totally okay with that, but the thing is, that all the xaml code is underlined and VS2010 says: 'Cannot create an instance of ButBase' although still normally compiles and able to run. I've tried the same code in VS2008, it said that needs to see a public parameterless constructor in the ButBase, and even after I put one it showed the same error. What do I miss here?

• Using DataAnnotations with Entity Framework

  I have used the Entity Framework with VS2010 to create a simple person class with properties, firstName, lastName, and email. If I want to attach DataAnnotations like as is done in this blog post I have a small problem because my person class is dynamically generated. I could edit the dynamically generated code directly but any time I have to update my model all my validation code would get wiped out. First instinct was to create a partial class and try to attach annotations but it complains that I'm trying to redefine the property. I'm not sure if you can make property declarations in C# like function declarations in C++. If you could that might be the answer. • Java char literal to C# char literal

  Hi. I am maintaining some Java code that I am currently converting to C#. The Java code is doing this: sendString(somedata + '\000'); And in C# I am trying to do the same: sendString(somedata + '\000'); But on the '\000' VS2010 tells me that "Too many characters in character literal". How can I use '\000' in C#? I have tried to find out what the character is, but it seems to be " " or some kind of newline-character. Do you know anything about the issue? Thanks!

  I am trying to convince my boss to upgrade a couple web app servers from Win 2003 to Win 2008 so I can utilize ASP.Net 4.0 on IIS7. I am also trying to get our SQL Server 2000 upgraded to 2008 so I can use Linq2SQL in VS2010 plus a bunch of other reasons. But the boss is experiencing sticker shock now that I have told him what it all costs. So I guess I have to possibly cut back some where. My question is what are the benefits of ASP.Net 4.0 on IIS7 over ASP.Net 4.0 on IIS6 or are there any real benefits?

  I have been developing a toy editor, and I want my editor to look like the VS2010 text editor which can be dragged out of the main window to become a independent window and the dragged-out window can be maximized when it's dragged to the top of the screen, and can be docked by being dragged to the left or right side of the screen(which is a new feature in Win7). So I tried to use AvalonDock(a codeplex project) to do that.But I found the dragged-out DocumentContent(a class in AvalonDock,it inherits from ContentControl) is not treated like a real window in Win7. So I wanna know that What kind of window can be docked by being dragged to the left/right side or the top of the screen in Win7? Thanks!!

When i am trying do it the best what i get is working editor in IE (8) but other browser not (Opera, FF, Chrome). Samples that i download work fine in all browsers. • Updating a Cuda 4.0 project to Cuda 4.2

  I have a VS2010 project that was tested with CUDA 4.0, today I installed CUDA 4.2 and I want to update this project, the problem is that when I try to run the project it asks me for cudart32_40_17.dll, but since this is CUDA 4.2 I only have on my folders (C:\Program Files\NVIDIA GPU Computing Toolkit\CUDA\v4.2\bin) cudart32_42_9.dll. I already set the Build Customizations to Cuda 4.2 and it compiles without any problem, the only problem is when I try to run it, the app asks me for the previous version of the dll. Is there a way to especify that the project must use cudart32_42_9.dll?

• WCF on Windows 7 not working

  I am using an example from iDesign about one way calls. I can get it to work on a Vista machine (VS2008) but not on a windows 7 machine (VS2010). I get this error: HTTP could not register URL http://+:8001/MyService/. Your process does not have access rights to this namespace ServiceHost host = new ServiceHost(typeof(MyService)); host.Open(); I get the error on the host.Open(); line. I noticed that windows asks first for some firewall and to give permission which I did but still it is not working. What can I do?

• SSRS2008: LocalReport export to HTML / fragment

  I need local RDL report to be exported to HTML, preferably HTML fragment. In 2005 it wasn't officially supported but there was a trick. In SSRS2008 they seem to drop this support (there's no HTML extension in the supported extensions when enumerating using reflection) and use RPL instead which is a binary format that I doubt someone will be happy to parse. Actually it's doesn't seem to be about HTML at all. Now, is there a way to render HTML using SSRS2008 local report? Notice that I use VS2008 but with reporting assemblies installed from VS2010 Beta 2 reportviewer.

• opening a file attachment from an outlook email using clickonce and a file association

  Hi, I have a clickonce application (VS2010, .NET 4). I have registered a file association (.task), and this all works well. If I double click a file with the .task extension on the desktop the clickonce application opens and can open the file. If I email the file however, and double click the file from within outlook, I get the open/save dialog. If I click open nothing appears to happen. If I save the file I can open it by double clicking on it. Any ideas why the file does not open from within outlook ? Thanks, Mark

• WCF is throwing UnauthorizedAccessExceptyion after upgrade to .NET 4.0

  I have a pretty simple client-server ASP.NET app; communication is via WCF service. All worked perferctly inVS 2008, now I upgraded to VS2010 and every time the client code is trying to instantiate a channel to the server: new ChannelFactory<IMemberService>("Members.MemberService").CreateChannel(); it throws an UnauthorizedAccessException "Access denied". Were there any breaking changes in the new version, or do I need to add some configuration? I'm pretty stuck, any ideas would be highly appreciated! BTW, binding used is basicHttpBinding, i don't know if thats important here. Thank you, Andrey

  I'm trying to create a custom mapping with AutoMapper, but I can't use 3.0 syntax with lambdas. How would one convert this 3.0 code into 2.0 ? Mapper.CreateMap<MyClass, MyDto>() .ForMember(dest => dest.Name, opt => opt.MapFrom(src => src.CompanyName)) Edit: Since there was no better solution, we are now using vs2008 on one workstation to make these mappings and build a dll. I hope it won't be long until we upgrade to vs2010.

• Asp.net 4.0 site fails because no handler mapped with Classic appPool

  When I create a Asp.net app and flip the appPool to "ASP.NET v4.0 Classic" it fails with the following error: HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found The requested content appears to be script and will not be served by the static file handler. After some searching it seems to be the handler not mapping correctly for the Classic mode but I can't find out where or how to fix that. I have the full .Net 4.0 install with VS2010 and the app works fine if I flip the appPool to Integrated. Also, it's a Windows 7 machine (I'm having the same problem on a Vista box).   Hi, i'm trying to 'load' the following project into visual studio 2010 but im getting errors about dynamic link libraries not being found. I have manually referenced them but it doesnt like them. The project is: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/DLL/EasyHook64.aspx 2nd link down (EasyHook_2.5_Beta_Source_Code), and the project im wishing to load is EasyHook_2.5_Beta_Source_Code\Examples\ProcessMonitor The two dlls plus 1 executable i need are found in the first link (EasyHook 2.5 beta binaries) and named EasyHook.dll, EasyHook32.dll and EasyHook32svc.exe I've been trying to do this all night but i wonder whether its because im using VS2010 and .NET 4.0?? I'd be so appreciative if someone could have a go themselves just to see if its my setup or they get errors to. The error i get is: Unable to load DLL 'EasyHook32.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

• Capture Silverlight 4 event when panel clicked

  I have a small Silverlight 4 app that essentially consists of a grid containing a label and a combo box. When I click the label, I replace it with a second text box so that I can edit the label (much the way you can edit the name of a Silverlight control in VS2010). I have a LostFocus event handler on the text box that will end editing when the control loses focus (restoring the updated label). Trouble is, users tend to click on the panel when they are done editing rather than on another control (or hitting Enter, which is also supported). I tried adding a left mouse down event handler to the panel. However, that only fires when the text box does not have the focus (I guess the text box captured the mouse?) Is there an approach to recognize that a non-input control was clicked that would enable me to terminate edit mode?

  Hello people, I am really confused right now and I can't get any right answers anywhere. My confusions are: 1) Isn't wsHttpBinging (which is beefed up basicHttpBinding) used in SOAP instead of REST and REST only uses webHttpBinding? 2) Also, DOES silverlight 4 with WCF (REST) support wsHttpBinding (VS2010)? I read that it does not everywhere on the net but I some how got silverlight 4 working with REST using wsHttpBinding. NOTE: I am using Factory="System.ServiceModel.Activation.WebServiceHostFactory". Is this factory setting somehow bypassing my web.config setting for wsHttpBinding to make it work with webHttpBinding and i am thinking by my wsHttpBinding is working? Thank you.
