I need to implement something similar to my application on linux and information provided here would be of lot of help. I am currently checking out the postinst script present in the debian control package and I can see Chrome uses PGP publish/subscribe model for getting automated version updates in Linux. In different kind of classes...some my app, some general java.. Does this always mean there is a problem in my app, or can it also be the phone ran out of memory due to a other process? • Is it okay to use zoom:1 in my css classes?

  Whenever I find IE is displaying my website weird (different from chrome and firefox), I try putting a zoom:1 in the css class for the part that is being displayed weird. A lot of the time this fixes the problem and makes it look consistent with the other browsers. Is it a problem to use zoom:1? I know my CSS won't validate, but are there any real world problems that can arise if I rely too much on using zoom:1?

• Compressing ASPX pageview in code or compress HTTP in IIS?

  In the past, with pages with large viewstate I have overridden the PageStatePersister class so when the state is saved I compress it. On Load I decompress it. I have haven't really thought about it, but could IIS handle something like this better? The reason I did this was to keep my pages slimmer because I have a lot of custom controls on the page and the viewstate was huge. Now I wonder if it matters to scrolling performance a lot, if outside the UITableView there are views with alpha 0.5? • Will my shared variables loose value? (asp.net vb)

  I have a class includes.vb that holds some variables (sharing them with other pages) like: Public Shared pageid As Integer = 0 I then have a function that does some work with these variables returning them with values; Return pageid When I step through the code, the variables have values (while stepping through the function), but when they are returned to the page, they come back null. Do they loose value everytime a page is loaded? Can you suggest an alternative method? Thanks a lot.
