  • create a new model instance version instead of update

    - by pablo
Hi, I have a model with a version field - autocreate timestamp. When a model instance is being saved I want to create a new instance with a new timestamp instead of updating the old model instance. Is it possible? I thought of overriding the model save() method but I don't know how to create a new instance without creating a infinite save() loop. Thanks

Hi, In Python if I have 2 lists say: l1 = ['a', 'b', 'c', 'd'] l2 = ['c', 'd', 'e'] is there a way to find out how many elements they have the same. In the case about it would be 2 (c and d) I know I could just do a nested loop but is there not a built in function like in php with the array_intersect function Thanks

  • jQuery selectable() elements update values

    - by Josh
    Basically what I'm trying to do is update the value attribute of a hidden input field contained within the selected element when the selectable() UI stops running. If the element is selected, then the input's value should be the name attribute of that particular LI, whereas if the element is not selected, the value should be updated as empty. HTML Sample: <ul id="selector"> <li class="networkicon shr-digg" name="shr-digg"> <div></div> <label>Digg</label> <input type="hidden" value="" name="bookmark[]" /> </li> <li class="networkicon shr-reddit" name="shr-reddit"> <div></div> <label>Reddit</label> <input type="hidden" value="" name="bookmark[]" /> </li> <li class="networkicon shr-newsvine" name="shr-newsvine"> <div></div> <label>Newsvine</label> <input type="hidden" value="" name="bookmark[]" /> </li> </ul> Script Sample: $(function() { $("#selector").selectable({ filter: 'li', selected: function(event, ui) { $(".ui-selected").each(obj, function() { $(this).children('input').val($(this).attr('name')); }); }, unselected: function(event, ui) { $(".ui-selected").each(obj, function() { $(this).children('input').val(''); }); } }); });

  • Issue with dynamically loading a user control on button click

    - by Kumar
    I have a page in which I am loading a user control dynamically as follows: Default.aspx: <cc1:ToolkitScriptManager ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" runat="server"> </cc1:ToolkitScriptManager> <asp:PlaceHolder ID="PlaceHolder1" runat="server"></asp:PlaceHolder> Default.aspx.cs: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { var ctrl = LoadControl("~/UserCtrl1.ascx"); ctrl.ID = "ucUserCtrl1"; PlaceHolder1.Controls.Add(ctrl); } Below is the code for UserCtrl1.ascx <asp:Label ID="Label1" runat="server"></asp:Label> <asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button1" OnClick="Button1_Click" /> <br /> <asp:PlaceHolder ID="PlaceHolder2" runat="server"></asp:PlaceHolder> I am dynamically loading another user control when the Button1 is clicked UserCtrl1.ascx.cs protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Label1.Text = "UserControl - 1 button clicked!"; var ctrl = LoadControl("~/UserCtrl2.ascx"); ctrl.ID = "ucUserCtrl2"; PlaceHolder2.Controls.Add(ctrl); } Below is the markup for UserCtrl2.ascx <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:Label ID="Label2" runat="server"></asp:Label> <asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server" Text="Button2" OnClick="Button2_Click" /> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> UserCtrl2.ascx.cs protected void Button2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Label2.Text = "UserControl - 2 button clicked!"; } After the page loads when I click the Button1 in UserCtrl1 the click event fires and I am able to see the Label1 text. It also properly loads the UserCtrl2, but when I click the Button2 in UserCtrl2 the click event dosent fire and even worse when I click the Button2 twice the UserCtrl2 control dissappears from the page. How can I fix this?

  • What is used instead of SendMessage and PostMessage in Java to handle inter-thread communications?

    - by Kieveli
I'm from a WinAPI / C++ background, and I'm curious as to what the Java world uses in place of a threaded message loop in a worker thread to handle communications and interactions between threads. The idea is to use a message pump in both the worker thread, and the main thread, and have them posting messages back and forth. This solution is very WinAPI / C++ centric, and probably not the preferred method of achieving this goal in Java. What is the 'Java' way to do something like this?

  • http post request with cross-origin in javascript

    - by Calamarico
i have a problem with a http post call in firefox. I know that when there are a cross origin, firefox first do a OPTIONS before the POST to know the access-control-allow headers. With this code i dont have any problem: Net.requestSpeech.prototype.post = function(url, data) { if(this.xhr != null) { this.xhr.open("POST", url); this.xhr.onreadystatechange = Net.requestSpeech.eventFunction; this.xhr.setRequestHeader("Content-Type", "application/json; charset=utf-8"); this.xhr.send(data); } } I test this code with a simple html that invokes this function. Everything is ok and i have the response of the OPTIONS and POST, and i process the response. But, i'm trying to integrate this code with an existen application with uses jquery (i dont know if this is a problem), when the send(data) executes in this case, the browser (firefox) do the same, first do a OPTION request, but in this case dont receive the response of the server and puts this message in console: [18:48:13.529] OPTIONS http://localhost:8111/ [undefined 31ms] Undefined... the undefined is because dont receive the response, but the code is the same, i dont know why in this case the option dont receive the response, someone have an idea? i debug my server app and the OPTIONS arrive ok to the server, but it seems like the browser dont wait to the response. edit more later: ok i think that the problem is when i run with a simple html with a SCRIPT tag that invokes the method who do the request run ok, but in this app that dont receive the response, i have a form that do a onsubmit event, i think that the submit event returns very fast and the browser dont have time to get the OPTIONS request. edit more later later: WTF, i resolve the problem make the POST request to sync: this.xhr.open("POST", url, false); The submit reponse very quickly and can't wait to the OPTION response of the browser, any idea to this?

  • Increment the number of times an article has been read

    - by r.sendecky
I have a situation where I need to increase the number of time article has been read. Once someone opens an article it should be reflected in the database by incrementing number of reads by one. Simple. Sending POST request to the server increments the number of reads by one. The article in question is supplied via URL parameter. Doing it manually by typing the URL in a browser works as expected. So server side is not at fault. My problems start with the javascript side of it or rather jquery. I hook the event to the article link. So every time a user clicks on the article link it increments the number of reads like so: $('#list-articles .article-link').click(function(e){ var oid = $(this).parent().parent().attr('data-oid').toString(); //Get the article id $.post( "/articles/viewed/" + oid ); }); Now this does not work! Number is not increased. I don't prevent default action since I need the link to actually open and display the article. Now if I put an alert right after the post like this: $('#list-articles .article-link').click(function(e){ var oid = $(this).parent().parent().attr('data-oid').toString(); //Get the article id $.post( "/articles/viewed/" + oid ); alert(oid); }); This variant works. After I dismiss the alert window, the number is incremented. Why is this so?? How can I fix this to actually work without the alert event present?

  • IE7 & 8 not fireing jQuery click events for elements appended inside a table

    - by Keith
I have an IE bug that I'm not sure how to fix. Using jQuery I'm dynamically moving a menu to appear on an element on mouseover. My code (simplified) looks something like this: $j = jQuery.noConflict(); $j(document).ready(function() { //do something on the menu clicks $j('div.ico').click(function() { alert($j(this).parent().html()); }); setUpActions('#tableId', '#menuId'); }); //on mouseover set up the actions menu to appear on mouseover function setUpActions(tableSelector, menuSelector) { $j(tableSelector + ' div.test').mouseover(function() { //note that append will move the underlying //DOM element with all events from it's old //parent to the end of this one. $j(this).append($j(menuSelector).show()); }); } This menu doesn't seem to register events correctly for the menu after it's been moved in IE7, IE8 and IE8-as-IE7 (yeah MS, that's really a 'new rendering engine' in IE8, we all believe you). It works as expected in everything else. You can see the behaviour in a basic demo here. In the demo you can see two examples of the issue: The image behind the buttons should change on hover (done with a CSS :hover selector). It works on the first mouseover but then persists. The click event doesn’t fire – however with the dev tools you can manually call it and it is still subscribed. You can see (2) in IE8's dev tools: Open page in IE8 Open dev tools Select "Script" tab and "Console" sub-tab Type: $j('#testFloat div.ico:first').click() to manually call any subscribed events There will be an alert on the page This means that I'm not losing the event subscriptions, they're still there, IE's just not calling them when I click. Does anyone know why this bug occurs (other than just because of IE's venerable engine)? Is there a workaround? Could it be something that I'm doing wrong that just happens to work as expected in everything else?

  • How to create a CPU spike with a bash command

I want to create a near 100% load on a Linux machine. It's quad core system and I want all cores going full speed. Ideally, the CPU load would last a designated amount of time and then stop. I'm hoping there's some trick in bash. I'm thinking some sort of infinite loop.

  • Lucene.Net: How can I add a date filter to my search results?

    - by rockinthesixstring
I've got my searcher working really well, however it does tend to return results that are obsolete. My site is much like NerdDinner whereby events in the past become irrelevant. I'm currently indexing like this Public Function AddIndex(ByVal searchableEvent As [Event]) As Boolean Implements ILuceneService.AddIndex Dim writer As New IndexWriter(luceneDirectory, New StandardAnalyzer(), False) Dim doc As Document = New Document doc.Add(New Field("id", searchableEvent.ID, Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.UN_TOKENIZED)) doc.Add(New Field("fullText", FullTextBuilder(searchableEvent), Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.TOKENIZED)) doc.Add(New Field("user", If(searchableEvent.User.UserName = Nothing, "User" & searchableEvent.User.ID, searchableEvent.User.UserName), Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.TOKENIZED)) doc.Add(New Field("title", searchableEvent.Title, Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.TOKENIZED)) doc.Add(New Field("location", searchableEvent.Location.Name, Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.TOKENIZED)) doc.Add(New Field("date", searchableEvent.EventDate, Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.UN_TOKENIZED)) writer.AddDocument(doc) writer.Optimize() writer.Close() Return True End Function Notice how I have a "date" index that stores the event date. My search then looks like this ''# code omitted Dim reader As IndexReader = IndexReader.Open(luceneDirectory) Dim searcher As IndexSearcher = New IndexSearcher(reader) Dim parser As QueryParser = New QueryParser("fullText", New StandardAnalyzer()) Dim query As Query = parser.Parse(q.ToLower) ''# We're using 10,000 as the maximum number of results to return ''# because I have a feeling that we'll never reach that full amount ''# anyways. And if we do, who in their right mind is going to page ''# through all of the results? Dim topDocs As TopDocs = searcher.Search(query, Nothing, 10000) Dim doc As Document = Nothing ''# loop through the topDocs and grab the appropriate 10 results based ''# on the submitted page number While i <= last AndAlso i < topDocs.totalHits doc = searcher.Doc(topDocs.scoreDocs(i).doc) IDList.Add(doc.[Get]("id")) i += 1 End While ''# code omitted I did try the following, but it was to no avail (threw a NullReferenceException). While i <= last AndAlso i < topDocs.totalHits If Date.Parse(doc.[Get]("date")) >= Date.Today Then doc = searcher.Doc(topDocs.scoreDocs(i).doc) IDList.Add(doc.[Get]("id")) i += 1 End If End While I also found the following documentation, but I can't make heads or tails of it http://lucene.apache.org/java/1_4_3/api/org/apache/lucene/search/DateFilter.html

  • How to filter Wordpress posts using a hook in a plugin?

    - by Davide
I'm creating a Wordpress plugin and, being a newbie in the development on this platform, I'm stuck on this problem. I'd like to have posts in the loop filtered by categories, defined by the user through an admin page. I would actually like to be able to modify query_post() parameters in the plugin, but the only trick I found is to re-run the query_post() with my user-defined criteria, thing that I would like to avoid. I'm sure the solution is evident, but can't find it!

  • Handling of data truncation in FUSE

    - by Vi
I expect any good program should do all their reads and writes in a loop until all data written/read without relying that write will write everything (even with regular files). Am I right? Implemented simple FUSE filesystem which only allows reading and writing with small buffers, very often returning that it is written less bytes that in a buffer (using -o direct_io). Some programs work, some not. Are them buggy or programs should not expect truncated writes and reads from the regular files?

  • I can't prevent key presses from changing a selected option in Firefox

    - by Anthony
Using Firefox 3.5.7 The following test page should behave like Opera, Safari and Chrome. Key presses (arrows or 1-5) should have no effect (i.e. The events should be cancelled so that the number never changes from the initial default "3"). [I have separate working code for IE too]. Many thanks to anyone who can make it work? <html> <head> <title>Test</title> <script type='text/JavaScript'> function stop(evt) {evt.preventDefault(); evt.stopPropagation(); }; </script> </head> <body> <select onkeydown='stop(event);' onkeypress='stop(event);'> <option>1</option> <option>2</option> <option selected="selected">3</option> <option>4</option> <option>5</option> </select> </body> </html>

  • Making a button click and process using javascript with Asp.Net

    - by user944919
I'm having two buttons and one button is hidden. Now when I click the visible button I need to do two things 1.Open Iframe. 2.Automatically make the 2nd Button(Hidden)to be clicked. When the second button is clicked I need to display the message on top of the IFrame which I have mentioned as function showStickySuccessToast() Now I am able to open IFrame but I'm unable to make the Hidden button clicked automatically. This is what I'm having: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#<%=Button1.ClientID%>").click(function(event){ $('#<%=TextBox1.ClientID%>').change(function () { $('#various3').attr('href', $(this).val()); }); }); function showStickySuccessToast() { $().toastmessage('showToast', { text: 'Finished Processing!', sticky: false, position: 'middle-center', type: 'success', closeText: '', close: function () { } }); } }) </script> Here are my two buttons how I'm working with: <a id="various3" href="#"><asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button" OnClientClick="Button2_Click"/></a> <asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server" Text="Button" Visible="False" OnClick="Button2_Click"/> And in the button2_Click event: Protected Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click System.Web.UI.ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Page, GetType(Page), "Script", "showStickySuccessToast();", True) End Sub

  • Sending data in a GTK Callback

    - by snostorm
How can I send data through a GTK callback? I've Googled, and with the information I found created this: #include <gtk/gtk.h> #include <stdio.h> void button_clicked( GtkWidget *widget, GdkEvent *event, gchar *data); int main( int argc, char *argv[]){ GtkWidget *window; GtkWidget *button; gtk_init (&argc, &argv); window = gtk_window_new(GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL); button = gtk_button_new_with_label("Go!"); gtk_container_add(GTK_CONTAINER(window), button); g_signal_connect_swapped(G_OBJECT(window), "destroy", G_CALLBACK(gtk_main_quit), NULL); g_signal_connect(G_OBJECT(button), "clicked", G_CALLBACK(button_clicked),"test" ); gtk_widget_show(window); gtk_widget_show(button); gtk_main(); return 0; } void button_clicked( GtkWidget *widget, GdkEvent *event, gchar *data){ printf("%s \n", (gchar *) data); return; } But it just Segfaults when I press the button. What is the right way to do this?

  • What is the display list in Flash 10? Array? Linked list?

    - by Typeoneerror
I'm working on a game that has many elements on stage, so I'm looking to optimize my loops. I know that Vector is faster than looping an array, but I'm also in some cases using: while (i < numChildren) getChildAt(i) ...to update sprites. My question is when I use getChildAt, is that accessing an Array or Vector or linked list or other? Should I instead store references to my objects in a Vector and loop through that instead?

  • How to implement a log window in a web browser?

    - by Jeremy Friesner
Hi all, I'm interested in adding an HTML/web-browser based "log window" to my net-enabled device. Specifically, my device has a customized web server and an event log, and I'd like to be able to leave a web browser window open to e.g. http://my.devices.ip.address/system_log and have events show up as text in the web browser window as they happen. People could then use this as a quick way to monitor what the system is doing, without needing run any special software. My question is, what is the best way to implement this? I've tried the obvious approach -- just have my device's embedded web server hold the HTTP/TCP connection open indefinitely, and write the necessary text to the TCP socket when an event occurs -- but the problem with that is that most web browsers (e.g. Safari) don't display the web page until the server has closed the TCP connection has been closed, and so the result is that the log data never appears in the web browser, it just acts as if the page is taking forever to load. Is there some trick to make this work? I could implement it as a Java applet, but I'd much prefer something more lightweight/simple, either using only HTML or possibly HTML+JavaScript. Also I'd like to avoid having the web browser 'poll' the server, since that would either introduce too much latency (if the reload delay was large) or put load on the system (if the delay was small)
