• Trying to make changes to the size of the events buffer in prelude-ids auditd plugin

  I am running systems using the prelude-ids plugin for auditd. When the manager is up every thing works fine however I have a requirement that when the clients can't talk to the manager they should store no more than 250MB of messages, and when they hit that point they should start deleting the oldest events. All I can find is that audispd can be set to an overflow action of ignore,syslog,suspend,single, and halt none of which meet my requirement, and several of which I really cannot use. Does anyone know a way to do this? I know the events get stored in /var/spool/prelude/auditd/global, but I can't find anything about configuring how things are stored here. There are usually several files in the global directory but only 2 of them ever go above 0 in size, data0 and data0.journal.

  So I have the following div <div id="object_list"> I want to append a list and items into it. So I run the following jquery $("#object_list").empty(); $("#object_list").append('<ul'); $("#object_list").append(list.contents()); $("#object_list").append('</ul>'); After that code runs, #object_list looks like this <div id="object_list"> <ul></ul> ...list.contents() elements </div> Even after debugging, if I do another $("#object_list").append('<ul>'); all I get is an added <ul> after the </ul>. Why is jquery not appending to the html AFTER the list.contents(), but is going before it?

  I have a JSF application running on glassfish 2.1 with a EJB 3 backend. For authentication I use a custom realm. The user authenticates using the e-mail-address and password he specified on registration. Everything is working quite well. Now I have two related problems: 1) The user can edit his profile and -- naturally -- he can also change his e-mail-address. Unfortunately when I perform operations based on the current user's identity using ExternalContext.getUserPrincipal().getName(), I will receive the previous e-mail-address the user used on login. At the moment I handle this by forcing the user to reauthenticate after he changed his e-mail-address, but is there another more graceful possibility? 2) Same for user roles. E.g. I have the user roles MEMBER and PREMIUM_MEMBER. A MEMBER may become a PREMIUM_MEMBER during his current session. Unfortunately the role seems to be only determined at login. Is there any possibility, that JSF and EJB recognize the new user role without the need for the user to re-authenticated?

  Say, I have a class: class M { public int val; And also a + operator inside it: public static M operator +(M a, M b) { M c = new M(); c.val = a.val + b.val; return c; } } And I've got a List of the objects of the class: List<M> ms = new List(); M obj = new M(); obj.val = 5; ms.Add(obj); Some other object: M addie = new M(); addie.val = 3; I can do this: ms[0] += addie; and it surely works as I expect - the value in the list is changed. But if I want to do M fromList = ms[0]; fromList += addie; it doesn't change the value in ms for obvious reasons. But intuitively I expect ms[0] to also change after that. Really, I pick the object from the list and then I increase it's value with some other object. So, since I held a reference to ms[0] in fromList before addition, I want still to hold it in fromList after performing it. Are there any ways to achieve that?

  My app will allow users to create a personalised list of events from a large list of events. I have a table view which simply displays these events, tapping on one of them takes the user to the event details view, which has a button "add to my events". In this detailed view I own the original event object, retrieved via an NSFetchedResultsController and passed to the detailed view (via a table cell, the same as the core data recipes sample). I have no trouble retrieving/displaying information from this "event". I was fetching the event in question using a NSFetchedResultsController with a NSPredicate which I was releasing after I had the results. Retrieving values from the entities returned was no problem, but when I tried to update any of them it gave the error above. It should not have been released. oustanding part of my question What is a good way to create this sub list from a list of existing items in terms of a core data model. I don't believe its any of the ways I tried here. I need to show/edit it in another table view. Perhaps there is a better way than a boolean property on each event entity? The relationship idea above doesn't seem to work here (even though I can now create it). Cheers.

  A stable sort is a sort that maintains the relative ordering of elements with the same value. The docs on ArrayList.Sort say that when an IComparer is provided the sort is stable: If comparer is set to null, this method performs a comparison sort (also called an unstable sort); that is, if two elements are equal, their order might not be preserved. In contrast, a stable sort preserves the order of elements that are equal. To perform a stable sort, you must implement a custom IComparer interface. Cheap node moves, inserts, and deletes. Expensive to find level (can store as a computed column), ancestry & descendants (Bridge Hierarchy combined with level column can solve), path (Lineage Column can solve). Use Common Table Expressions in those databases that support them to traverse. Nested Set (a.k.a Modified Preorder Tree Traversal) First described by Joe Celko - covered in depth in his book Trees and Hierarchies in SQL for Smarties Columns: Left, Right Cheap level, ancestry, descendants Compared to Adjacency List, moves, inserts, deletes more expensive. Requires a specific sort order (e.g. created). So sorting all descendants in a different order requires additional work. Nested Intervals Combination of Nested Sets and Materialized Path where left/right columns are floating point decimals instead of integers and encode the path information. Bridge Table (a.k.a. Closure Table: some good ideas about how to use triggers for maintaining this approach) Columns: ancestor, descendant Stands apart from table it describes. • What is the Proper approach for Constructing a PhysicalAddress object from Byte Array

  I'm trying to understand what the correct approach for a constructor that accepts a Byte Array with regard to how it stores it's data (specifically with PhysicalAddress) I have an array of 6 bytes (theAddress) that is constructed once. I have a source array of 18bytes (theAddresses) that is loaded from a TCP Connection. I then copy the 6bytes from theAddress+offset into theAddress and construct the PhysicalAddress from it. Problem is that the PhysicalAddress just stores the Reference to the array that was passed in. Therefore if you subsequently check the addresses they only ever point to the last address that was copied in. When I took a look inside the PhysicalAddress with reflector it's easy to see what's going on. public PhysicalAddress(byte[] address) { this.changed = true; this.address = address; } Now I know this can be solved by creating theAddress array on each pass, but I wanted to find out what really is the best practice for this. Should the constructor of an object that accepts a byte array create it's own private Variable for holding the data and copy it from the original Should it just hold the reference to what was passed in.   ok, so i got a some what intricate program that simulates the uni systems of students, units, and students enrolling in units. Students are stored in a binary search tree, Units are stored in a standard list. Student has a list of Unit Pointers, to store which units he/she is enrolled in Unit has a list of Student pointers, to store students which are enrolled in that unit. The unit collections (storing units in a list) as made as a static variable where the main function is, as is the Binary search tree of students. when its finaly time to close the program, i call the destructors of each. but at some stage, during the destructors on the unit side, Unhandled exception at 0x002e4200 in ClassAllocation.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000.   I am using the AutoCompleteBox in WPF, I populate the suggestions with a List that consists of four fields. When the user selects an item and I reach my eventHandler, i can see that MyAutoCompleteBox.SelectedItem is an object that has my four values, if i hover this text in the debugger i can see the four values listed, however i don't know how to access these values in the code. I tried List<Codes> selected = MyAutoCompleteBox.SelectedItem as List<Codes>; where Codes is my List. selected returns as null and empty every time. Is there a way to get to these values? Thanks!

If the queue reaches a specific size all threads that are filling the queue will be blocked on add until an item is removed from the queue. • How do I programmatically insert rows into a Silverlight DataGrid without binding?

  I am using a common Silverlight DataGrid to display results from a search. The "schema" of the search can vary from query to query. To accommodate this, I am trying to dynamically populate the DataGrid. I can set explicitly set the columns, but I am having trouble setting the ItemSource. All of the MSDN examples set the ItemSource to a collection with a strong type (e.g. a Custom type with public properties matching the schema). The DataGrid then uses reflection to scour the strong type for public properties that will match the columns. Since my search results are dynamic, I cannot create a strong type to represent what comes back. Can I not just give the DataGrid an arbitrary list of objects so long as the number of objects in each list matches the number of columns? Anyone know if this is possible? I would like to do something similar to this: List<List<object>> myResults = <voodoo that populates the result list> myDataGrid.ItemsSource = myResults;
