• Standby Problem, PC can not enter Standby mode

  I have a problem with the Standby function: My Computer does not enter the Standby mode with Ubuntu 14.04LTS. If I remeber me right it, works with Ubuntu 13.10 but this Version was not long installed on this PC. Now when i press Standby in the menu or on my Keyboard the Display turns black for a few seconds, then some messages appear for a very short moment on the screen. After that, the the log-in screen appear. Two times I was able to enter Standby but the other times it fails. Tecnical Data about my PC: Ubuntu 14.04 with all Updates main storage: 3,8GiBprocessor: Intel® Core™ i3-2330M CPU @ 2.20GHz × 4 graphic: Intel® Sandybridge Mobile graphic board: NVIDA GEFORCE GT 555M CUDA 1GB Dual Boot System with win7 x64Bit Medion P6812 Laptop Here is the message output: Usally I got only a half of the screen filled with messages like that. When I filmed it it was much more. I dont know, maybe this is a Bug.

• How can I edit/create new launcher items in Unity by hand?

  Will Unity allow making custom launcher icons from .desktop files or via menu editing system? (Right now the launcher doesn't give the option to "keep in launcher" on all programs. For some programs I use, I have to make custom launchers or .desktop files. For instance, daily blender builds are generally just folders with an executable. In basic gnome or kde, I can make a new menu entry with the menu editing system. Then, I can also add it to docky either from the menu or by dragging a .desktop file to it. Unity launcher doesn't support drag and drop, so thats not a bug or anything, but when i open a .desktop file, it has unpredictable results. Most time it will not have"keep in launcher". Sometime it will have a pinnable item without the .desktop's icon, and if i pin the item to the launcher, it will not call upon the program again after closing it. I've also gotten it to just work with a .desktop file for "celtx".

  My web configuration looks as follows: <system.web> <compilation debug="false"/> <httpRuntime executionTimeout="90"/> </system.web> This is fine for most webservices but one webservice has a query that is running a very long (5 minutes) time and will be stopped before it has finished. Is it possible to set the runtime to 5 minutes for this webservice alone? I've thought about running the database query async (fire and forget) but it doesn't seem possible with sybase/oracle through ODBC.

  Hi again guys. I'm trying to access my iPhone's device keychain. I want to access in order to create a simple user-password value intended for a log in function.   I struggle to get specific video file details so duration etc. from the file the files recorded earlier. All I can currently do is to get cursor with all the files, then loop one by one.   I'm using Hibernate 3.2, and using criteria to build a query. I'd like to add and "order by" for a many-to-one association, but I don't see how that can be done. The Hibernate query would end up looking like this, I guess: select t1.a, t1.b, t1.c, t2.dd, t2.ee from t1 inner join t2 on t1.a = t2.aa order by t2.dd <-- need to add this I've tried criteria.addOrder("assnName.propertyName") but it doesn't work. I know it can be done for normal properties. Am I missing something?

• Problem with truncation of floating point values in DBSlayer.

  When I run a query through DBslayer http://code.nytimes.com/projects/dbslayer the floating point results are truncated to a total of six digits (plus decimal point and negative sign when needed). { ... "lat":52.2228,"lng":-2.19906, ... } When I run the same query in MySQL, the results are as expected. | 52.22280884 | -2.19906425 | Firstly, am I correct in identifying DBSlayer as the cause of this effect? • Configuring Eclipse Xubuntu 12.04

  Just installed Eclipse 3.7.1 on my xubuntu 12.04. I used to have eclipse installed on my 10.04. You could choose new java project, java source files etc. but this version doesn't have these options. If i make a .java file, it's just plane text, no highlighting and no chance to compile. I have installed eclipse-jdt. I looked https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EclipseIDE this manual. It tells to modify /etc/eclipse/java_home file but there is no such file on my system, just eclipse.ini. Am i missing a step here or have i encountered some sort of a bug?

• Calendar like tool for managing multiple clients simultaneously?

  I've tried several systems to keep my clients requests / work organized, but somehow they still fall through the cracks. I don't like the idea of a bug tracker-like site for every client (I would not check them all). Ideally, it's all in one page but separated by client. What systems do you guys use? I'm about to just use a spreadsheet with columns for clients. Just curious if there's something better out there :) I've seen smartsheet in action which is basically a really nice spreadsheet that shows bars of time between things that are due. This looks promising.

• How to remove duplicate content, which is still indexed, but not linked to anymore?

  A bug in the tool, which we use to create search-engine-friendly URLs changed our whole URL-structure overnight, and we only noticed after Google already indexed the page. Now, we have a massive duplicate content issue, causing a harsh drop in rankings. Webmaster Tools shows over 1,000 duplicate title tags, so I don't think, Google understands what is going on. Right URL: abc.com/price/sharp-ah-l13-12000-btu.html Wrong URL: abc.com/item/sharp-l-series-ahl13-12000-btu.html (created by mistake) After that, we ... Changed back all URLs to the "Right URLs" Set up a 301-redirect for all "Wrong URLs" a few days later Now, still a massive amount of pages is in the index twice. As we do not link internally to the "Wrong URLs" anymore, I am not sure, if Google will re-crawl them very soon. What can we do to solve this issue and tell Google, that all the "Wrong URLs" now redirect to the "Right URLs"? Best, David

• Assert parameters in a table-valued UDF

  Is there a way to create "asserts" on the parameters of a table-valued UDF. I'd like to use a table-valued UDF for performance reasons, however I know that certain parameter combinations (like start and end dates that are more than a month apart) will cause performance issues on the server for all users. End users query the database via Excel using UDFs. UDFs (and table-valued UDFs in particular) are useful when the data is too large for Excel. Users write simple SQL queries that categorizes the data into groups to reduce the number of rows. For example, the user may be interested in weekly aggregates rather than hourly ones. Users write a group by SELECT statement to reduce the rows by 24x7=168 times. I know I can write RAISERROR statements in multistatement UDFs, but table-valued UDFs are integrated in the query optimizer so these queries are more efficient with table-valued UDFs. So, can I define assertions on the parameters passed to a table-valued UDF?

• NOOB Memory Problem - EXC_BAD_ACCESS

  I have been banging my head against the wall for a couple days and need some help. I have a feeling that I am doing something really silly here, but I cannot find the issue. This is the controller for a table view. I put the SQL in line to simplify it as part of the troubleshooting of this error. Normally, it would be in an accessor method in a model class. It gets through the SQL read just fine. Finds the two objects, loads them into the todaysWorkout array and then builds the cells for the table view. The table view actually comes up on the scree and then it throws the EXC_BAD_ACCESS. • Games with multiple flash files not working

  I have download a flash game, since that's show the person coded it, and it is in multiple flash files to reduce overall file size or something. When I try to play it, I can only use the content within that one flash file, leading me to believe that it does not call upon other files within my computer. I kept the same file structure and everything as the download was, and another version of the same game I had on my windows laptop before my laptop died. It worked fine there, calling the files like it was supposed to. Is it just an Ubuntu/Linux/Unix-based bug, or is something going wrong? I've tried it in browser (firefox) and offline (gnash) and neither worked properly. Can anyone help me with this? Perhaps helping me find a way to get my game to work properly?

  I created a method to have multilingual text on different objects without creating field for each languages or tables for each objects types. Now the only problem I've got is N+1 select queries when doing a simple loading.   When developing software, I often have a centralised 'core' library containing handy code that can be shared and referenced by different projects. Examples: a set of functions to manipulate strings commonly used regular expressions common deployment code However some of my colleagues seem to be turning away from this approach. They have concerns such as the maintenance overhead of retesting code used by many projects once a bug is fixed. Now I'm reconsidering when I should be doing this. What are the issues that make using a 'core' library a bad idea?

• Can I use DllImport/PInvoke in libraries loaded as Assets in Unity Free?

  I am interested in using utilising third-party libraries in Unity Free. I know Unity can use managed libraries as Assets, but only the Pro version supports using native libraries. (DllImport within scripts). This thread however suggests that it is possible to import DLLs in the free version. I would like to utilise native libraries (as a hobbyist I cannot afford Pro), but want to do it the supported way so I don't have to worry about Unity 'fixing' this hole if that is what it is. Is there any supported way to use native libraries with Unity free? (i.e. does that thread suggest a workaround or is it a 'bug'? Is it supported to use DllImport/PInvoke in libraries loaded as assets? (could I create a wrapper myself?)

• SQL bottleneck, how to fix

The problem (as described in the previous thread) is not the insert (while its still slow), the problem is looping through the data itself Consider the following code: Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Dim sngStart As Single, sngEnd As Single Dim sngElapsed As Single Set rs = CurrentDb().QueryDefs("select-all").OpenRecordset MsgBox "All records retreived" sngStart = Timer Do While Not rs.EOF rs.MoveNext Loop sngEnd = Timer sngElapsed = Format(sngEnd - sngStart, "Fixed") ' Elapsed time. MsgBox ("The query took " & sngElapsed _ & " seconds to run.") As you can see, this loop does NOTHING. You'd expect it to finish in seconds, however it takes about 857 seconds to run (or 15 minutes). I dont know why it is so slow. Maybe the lotusnotes sql driver? any other ideas? (java based solution, any other solution) What my goal is: To get all the data from remote server and insert into local access table
