• Android custom view - setting it to take up max space available but no more

  I have a custom View class in my app that I'm using in xml layouts. Wherever I'm using this view in my xml, I don't want it to stretch it's container, but I want it to fill out whatever space is available. Here's an example to make it a little clearer. I have a LinearLayout set to horizontal orientation with my custom view followed by a TextView. The TextView is going to stretch the LinearLayout so that it takes up the space it needs and no more. I want my custom view to take up the vertical space that the TextView has made available. Let's say the TextView ends up being 50px tall because of it's contents. The LinearLayout is thus stretched to about this height (not taking into account any margins or padding), so I just want the view to know it can stretch to that height and not "push on" its container. Without overriding and of the measurement methods of the base class (onMeasure, etc) my View is actually stretching to take up as much space as possible. I have already played around with wrap_content and fill_parent a bunch, so I'm assuming I need to do something in one of the View class' measure methods.

• After drawing circles on C# form how can i know on what circle i clicked?

  I have to represent graphically an oriented graph like in the image below. i have a C# form, when i click with the mouse on it i have to draw a node. If i click somewhere on the form where is not already a node drawn it means i cliked with the intetion of drawing a node, if it is a node there i must select it and memorize it. • JS: capture a static snapshot of an object at a point in time with a method

  I have a JS object I use to store DOM info for easy reference in an elaborate GUI. I would have thought that by calling it in the dom.m.update() method before the new values for the other properties are assigned, at any point in time dom.m.old would contain a snapshot of the dom.m object as of the last update – but instead, it's always identical to dom.m. I've just got a pointless recursion method. Why isn't this working? How can I get a static snapshot of the object that won't update without being specifically told to? Comments explaining how I shouldn't even want to be doing anything remotely like this in the first place are very welcome :)

• jquery ui dialog and our dearest friend, ie6

  I'm using the jquery ui dialog for a modal popup dialog. It's working great in Firefox/Chrome but terrible in ie6. Problem: When I show the dialog in ie6, the browser window grows and automatically scrolls down to the bottom. The height increase and automatic scroll-down is equal to the height of the jquery dialog. I can scroll up and then use the dialog as normal, but the behavior where it grows the window and drops is maddeningly unacceptable. • HighCharts : Can I customize the colors of individual series?

  I am using HighCharts for a line graph and i am attemping to change the line color for each series. I did find this example here but the data is hard coded. • Does Java 6 open a default port for JMX remote connections?

  My specific question has to do with JMX as used in JDK 1.6: if I am running a Java process using JRE 1.6 with com.sun.management.jmxremote in the command line, does Java pick a default port for remote JMX connections? Backstory: I am currently trying to develop a procedure to give to a customer that will enable them to connect to one of our processes via JMX from a remote machine. The goal is to facillitate their remote debugging of a situation occurring on a real-time display console. Because of their service level agreement, they are strongly motivated to capture as much data as possible and, if the situation looks too complicated to fix quickly, to restart the display console and allow it to reconnect to the server-side. I am aware the I could run jconsole on JDK 1.6 processes and jvisualvm on post-JDK 1.6.7 processes given physical access to the console. However, because of the operational requirements and people problems involved, we are strongly motivated to grab the data that we need remotely and get them up and running again. EDIT: I am aware of the command line port property com.sun.management.jmxremote.port=portNum The question that I am trying to answer is, if you do not set that property at the command line, does Java pick another port for remote monitoring? If so, how could you determine what it might be?

  here is my problem which in my system. my system allow user to add event, which include date, time, places. In the other hand, user are allow to choose the "Event sharing to" some of other user. So i successful to created and share to other user, when the user login which are being choose to share with the event, he is able to view for that particular event. But the problem is, when user add the event, he must choose for his own name also in the select box. If not he will be unable to read the event that he had created.   I'm currently working on a C# wrapper to work with Dallmeier Common API light. Arguments SessionHandle: handle to current session. Return PlayerID (see callback). • Java split giving opposite order of arabic characters

  I am splitting the following string using \\| in java (android) using the IntelliJ 12 IDE. Everything is fine except the last part, somehow the split picks them up in the opposite order : As you can see the real positioning 34,35,36 is correct and according to the string, but when it gets picked out into split part no 5 its in the wrong order, 36,35,34 ... Any way I can get them to be in the right order?   Hi, I'm iterating over a 3 dimensional array (which is an image with 3 values for each pixel) to apply a 3x3 filter to each pixel as follows: //For each value on the image for (i=0;i<3*width*height;i++){ //For each filter value for (j=0;j<9;j++){ if (notOutsideEdgesCondition){ *(**(outArray)+i)+= *(**(pixelArray)+i-1+(j%3)) * (*(filter+j)); } } } I'm using pointer arithmetic because if I used array notation I'd have 4 loops and I'm trying to have the least possible number of loops. My problem is my notOutsideEdgesCondition is getting quite out of hands because I have to consider 8 border cases. I have the following handled conditions Left Column: ((i%width)==0) && (j%3==0) Right Column: ((i-1)%width ==0) && (i>1) && (j%3==2) Upper Row: (i<width) && (j<2) Lower Row: (i>(width*height-width)) && (j>5) and still have to consider the 4 corner cases which will have longer expressions. At this point I've stopped and asked myself if this is the best way to go because If I have a 5 line long conditional evaluation it'll not only be truly painful to debug but will slow the inner loop. That's why I come to you to ask if there's a known algorithm to handle this cases or if there's a better approach for my problem. Thanks a lot.

• CSS ] how to automatically resize the wrapper div.

  Hi, I've been struggling with this problem.. There is a wrapper div and it contains 3 vertical column divs with full of texts, and this wrapper div has red background color so that it can be a background of the entire texts. <div id="content_wrapper"> <div id="cside_a"> // massive texts goes here </div> ... // two more columns go here. </div> And here is the CSS code for them. #content_wrapper { background-color:#DB0A00; background-repeat:no-repeat; min-height:400px; } #cside_a, #cside_b, #cside_c { float: left; width: 33%; } And this code gives me a background that covers only 400px height box.. My expectation was the wrapper div automatically resizes depending on the size of the divs in it. Somehow putting "overflow:hidden" with wrapper CSS code makes everything work fine. I have no idea why "overflow:hidden" works.. shouldn't this hide all the overflowed texts..? Could anyone explain me why? Is is the correct way to do it anyway?

  http://i.imgur.com/foT9u.jpg Using that image as an example, here's what I need to do: Crop the blue square to have the same proportional ratio as that of the black square From doing that, I should then be able to resize the blue square to fit into the black square without losing stretching it - It'll retain its proportions. Note: The blue square must be cropped 'from the center'. The original center should remain the center after the crop (it can't be cropped from the top left, for example). Here's what I'm thinking needs to be done (using the, landscape, blue square as the example): Figure out the difference between the black squares width and height Figure out the difference between the blue squares width and height This should tell me how much to crop the blue square by and with how much of a 'top offset' Once it's cropped to fit the black squares proportions, it can then be resized I've been messing around with code similar to: if (BLACK_WIDTH > BLACK_HEIGHT) { $diffHeight = BLACK_WIDTH - BLACK_HEIGHT; $newHeight = $blue_Height - $blue_Height; echo $newHeight; } And using Photoshop to try and get a feel for how this should be done, but it continues to fail .< How should I go about doing this? How can I figure out how much to crop by (depending on if the blue square is landscape or portrait)? How do I then get the offset to retain the blue squares center?

  Hi, I have a rails app running on port 3000. The page in question has an iframe and I need to resize it depending on the height of the content loaded in the iframe. <iframe id="ifrm_col3" name="ifrm_col3" frameborder="0" src="<%=invite_path(@invite.alias)%>" onload="util.resize_iframe('ifrm_col3');"></iframe> The resize function is here: util.resize_iframe = function(frame_id) { var h = document.getElementById(frame_id).contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight; document.getElementById(frame_id).height = h; } After the iframe loads, I see this error in FireBug: Error: Permission denied for <http://192.168.0.157> to get property Window.document from <http://192.168.0.157:3000>. Source File: http://192.168.0.157:3000/javascripts/application.js?1268327481 Line: 84 The src of iframe is a relative path, but I'm not sure why the port info from the parent page is not retained. Is there any workaround to this problem? I tried creating a function in the parent page and calling it from the iframe, but ran into the same issue. Due to extra features in the site, I need to stick to port 3000 for the rails app. Any suggestion is appreciated.

  Is there any POSIX signals that I could utilize in my Perl program to create event-driven programming? I am relying on 'pipe' for my intercommunication. • Memory leak when changing Text field of a Scintilla object.

  I have a relatively large program that I'm optimizing for ASCII input files around 10-80mB in size. The program reads every line of the file into a stringbuilder and then sets the Text field of the ScintillNET object to the stringbuilder. The stringbuilder is then set to null. private void ReloadFile(string sFile) { txt_log.ResetText(); try { StringBuilder sLine = new StringBuilder(""); using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(sFile)) { while (true) { string temp = sr.ReadLine(); if (temp == null) break; sLine.AppendLine(temp); } sr.Close(); } txt_log.Text = sLine.ToString(); sLine = null; } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(this, "An error occurred opening this file.\n\n" + ex.Message, "File Open Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Error); } GC.Collect(); } The program has an option to reload or open a file. This is irrelevant, as any call to txt_log.Text seems to not get rid of the previous memory used for the .Text field. Commenting out the txt_log.Text line gives proper memory behavior. The GC.Collect() line seems pointless, and I have tried both with and without it. Is there something I'm missing here? I HIGHLY doubt it's a problem with the ScintillaNET component itself--rather something in this code.
