• Pre-provision MySite user site via script???

  We're considering pre-provisioning each user's MySite in SP 2010 - I know MS don't recommend it but it's a Uni installation and we'd like to have the student accounts set up in advance rather than have everything go bananas when a few thousand people all turn up on the same day and start having a look around our available services. Can this be done via a script of some sort? I presume Powershell has some mechanism to trigger the creation without the user having to physically visit their site?

  I'm a CS uni student in a country with limited bandwidth, and I find that I download files (particularly install files) for reuse\reinstallation\giving to my friends.. I've kept these files in different folders, and now find it extremely hard to find them, and keeping track of obselete files (the almost weekly releases of iTunes versions, or latest 7zip release or the .Net framework installers). What I would like to find is a file manager that could support tags, so instead of hierachical folders, i could find\view files according to their tags...

  So, when I'm browsing in firefox, some letters look grainy or glowing, does anyone know what might be causing this? It doesn't show on all website, only some. It almost looks like Firefox is trying to render different font colours on top of eachother and blends them in the process somehow. • Running Chromium Flow on a USB disk to boot on school computers?

  So I gonna make a USB bootable drive of Hexxeh's ChromiumOS Flow. I want this to be able to boot into it on my school computer. The computers use Novel network and each student gets their own login. Can I use my USB drive to boot into ChromiumOS from the schools computer? I dont need to access the files on my Novel Login.   Is it possible, to achieve the proposed behavior on my FreeBSD 8.2 server: New user ssh's into my server. He supplies as 'Login:' his student index number and a new, locked account is created with random password that is sent to his [email protected] mail as authentication method. After he logs in with this password, account is fully created and activated/unlocked and the user is asked/forced to change the pass for a new one.

• Pressing E yields a euro sign "€" instead. What can I do to fix this?

  A teacher at our high school contacted me, saying that every time she presses the E key it prints out a euro sign. It's not the language settings, I already tried that. It happens in all programs, and regardless of who's logged in. Could a student have remapped the key when she wasn't looking?

  at my school we have a student unix server with our accounts. i have installed git on my account, created a repository, and created the acl permissions on the folder repository so other users can access the repository # file: tp1 # owner: my_account # group: groupxxx user::rwx user:friend_account:rwx group::--- mask::rwx other::--- default:user::rwx default:user:friend_account:rwx default:group::--- default:mask::rwx default:other::--- but friend_account cant even cd to my tp1 directory (permission denied), so i think the problem should be in unix acl permissions..

• My monitor made a noise and is now dimmer - can I repair this myself?

  I have a Samsung SyncMaster T190 LCD monitor which I've had for about 5 years. It hissed slightly then went dim (readable but the top half of the screen is less bright). I'm pretty sure that after 5 years of service it's just got to the point where something's burned out, so my question is can I repair this myself, or should I just get a new monitor. I'm currently a student so self repair would be a better option if cost effective.
