• Application window as polygon texture?

  Is there a way, or method, to have some application rendered as texture in 3D scene on some polygon, and also have full interactivity with it? I'm talking about Windows platform, and maybe OpenGL but I guess it doesn't matter is it OGL or DX. For example: I run Calculator using WINAPI functions (preferably hidden, not showing on desktop) and I want to render it inside 3D scene on some polygon but still be able to type or click buttons and have it respond. My idea to realize this is to have WINAPI take screenshot (or render it to memory if possible) of that Calculator and pass it to OpenGL as texture for each frame (I'm experimenting with SDL through pygame) and for mouse interactivity to use coordination translation and calculate where on application window it would act, and then use WINAPI functions such as SetCursorPos to set cursor ant others to simulate click or something else. I haven't found any tutorials with topic similar to this one. Am I on a right track? Is there better way to do this if possible at all?

• Capture an area of a game, display it in a small window

  I am looking to make a program that accomplishes some simple goals. I need to be able to specify an area of my screen to have reproduced in a window. Similar to who the windows magnifier works. I also need it to stay on top. I also need it to be transparent. I also need it to be ghost like(mouse clicks go through it) so the application below can be interacted with still. • google chrome window resizes when click 12.04 kde

  All windows work fine but maximized G. Chrome window starts moving whenever I click under title bar without moving the cursor, but I don't want to move the windows, just to focus. Under the title bar is next to the tabs, on the blue part. This is annoying. It goes from maximized to moving windows function, with the cross instead of the pointer, only with single steady click.   We added a SharePoint BDC model project to a solution in Visual Studio 2010. Ever since, whenever the solution is built, instead of showing the Build output in the Output window, it insists on having "SharePoint Tools" selected in the "Show Output from:" drop-down, just to say "Model validation started ... Model validation completed with no errors." Short of shutting off any SharePoint projects in the build configuration, can this behavior be overridden?

• Use Outlook 2007 to connect to mail using active sync protocol

  Has anyone tried connected outlook(I am running v2007 on Windows 7) to a mail service using the MS Exchange Active Sync protocol? I know it is intended for mobile devices, but to me it looks like it is becoming the latest 'de facto' mail protocol for email/calendar/contact sync'ing due to the iPhone's support for it. I just think it would be an elegant solution to get my lotus notes mail in outlook(my company uses lotus notes with traveler service installed that exposes mail over the active sync protocol so I can currently read my notes mail via iPhone). This solution would probably eliminate the need for all the hacks needed to connect outlook to 'X' mail (Gmail, notes, etc) So, maybe someone out there has tried this or knows how to do it before spend time on more researching this. Thanks!

• windows 2003 remote desktop configuration - "Active session limit" greyed out

  I have a terminal server which works fine except for one thing: users are logged off after 2 hours, regardless of activity. I have Override user settings checked in the appropriate control window, and "End a disconnected session: Never" is set. But, I found the "Active session limit" is greyed out so I can't change it, and is set to 2 hours. • Active DFS node did not restore after failure

  On Tuesday we had a Server 2008 R2 DFS-R node go offline unexpectedly. DFS did the right thing and started routing requests to a different node, which was in a remote site. This is by design, because even though it's slow, at least it's still working. We had the local DFS-R node back online within an hour, and it had synced all its changes 10 minutes after that. 3 of the 5 terminal servers reset themselves to the local DFS node, but the other two stayed pointing at the remote DFS node for three days, until someone finally piped up about how slow requests were. What reasons could there be why some, but not all, of the server reverted? Is the currently active DFS node for a namespace exposed anywhere in the OS (WMI, or even scripts) so that we can monitor the active nodes?

All I know is that the computer crashed from a power outage. I've tried clicking the restore button and rebooting. Nothing. What else is there to try? Would like to have the desktop back. It powers on fine. I can login and use windows just fine. Just you get that annoying restore active desktop screen.

• FTP Active vs passive mode

  I have a FTP server and while doing testing I found an odd issue that I don't understand. I send a RETR command on file "/Folder1/file.txt" and it works fine. Then I send a RETR command on file "/Folder1/SubFolder1/file.txt" and it times out on transfering the data to the client. This was in active mode. When I switch to passive mode it works fine. I understand the difference between the two modes, but what I don't understand is why it worked for one file in active mode, but not the other. I tried it a dozen times and still got the same results. Any ideas? Thanks!

  Is is possible to define service to be active only the times while other service is failing? Consider following example: 2 hosts available: HostA (primary) and HostB (backup). Nagios service, which monitors amount of active connections to the host: gives OK when amount of connections to host 0 gives FAILURE when amount of connections to host = 0 If setup nagios service to monitor both hosts: HostA and HostB - it will give me OK for HostA (while it is primary and all connections normally goes to it) and FAIL for HostB (while it is backup and will receive no connections while HostA is alive). Can I make the nagios service for HostB somehow depend on sevice of HostA and give no failures (or maybe be inactive) up to the moment the service of HostA starts failing?

  I'm trying to convince a page that it is the window.top even though it is in an iframe. In FF you can do window.defineGetter('top', function() { return window}); in Webkit (Safari/Chrome) you can simply do window.top = window but in IE none of those methods work. Anyone done this before?

  i have a parent window and a child window. in javascript, i want a function in child window to be called whenever the parent window loads a new page. i'd like to use something similar to jQuery's $(document).ready() so that I don't have to worry about whether the parent is done loading yet - but ready() only appears to fire when the window loads the first page - but not when, say, a link is clicked in the parent and it loads a second page. any suggestions? thanks.
