  I have an aspx page that has... if (!IsPostBack) { PopulateBrand(); in the Page_Load. This PopulateBrand() simply populates my drop down. That works great and on post back it retains the value. The problem I'm having is that there is also a link on the page that is posting back some parameters to this page. What is happening is that when this is clicked it's falling through this !IsPostBack section and wiping out my drop down values that I had selected and repopulating it. How can I prevent this and just retain what I selected when this page is posting back to itself when the link is clicked? Thanks.

• How does rolling back an application level transaction interact with SqlDataAdapter events in ADO.NE

  When utilizing the RowUpdated event in the SqlAdapter class, i'm assuming that it is raised directly following the return of the database interaction that executes the update. If that update is part of an application level transaction (utilizing the SqlTransaction class) which is then rolled back, does this affect or interact at all with the RowUpdated event? Or is the RowUpdated event not raised until after the transaction is committed (this seems unlikely, but i couldn't find documentation)? If RowUpdated has already been raised, and then the transaction is rolled back, any good ideas on how to adjust something that may have been done in RowUpdated that should then, also be rolled back?

But when i press the browser back button and come back to my page A and again try to sort... page A throws an exception... is there a way to program this back button like we program a button normally.. • Javascript is called in IE and FF but not in Chrome, why?

  I have the following code below for a button on an aspx page. When it is clicked it should call a javascript that will print the text in that div. Everything works great in IE & Firefox but when it is tried in chrome it is as if the OnClientClick is not kicking off the javascript. I receive no errors and it works in IE and FF now. • Silverlight Navigation - how to override Back button behavior

  I'm trying to override the default behavior of the browser's back button in Silverlight (v4). Each of my XAML pages has an ability to show options. I want these options to be hidden when the user presses the back button, or to move to the previous page if the options are not visible. The Silverlight Frame seems to set back and forward points whenever the user navigates to a page with a new QueryString. Is there any other way of implementing my scenario other than having to implement a querystring component for my ShowOptions property?

• ASP.NET Calendar control: HowTo stop resetting calendar when navigating Back in the browser

  Hi All, I've implemented the ASP.NET Calendar control. I'm using it to show events happening in the area. THE PROBLEM Today is August 18th, so when the calendar loads, August is selected as the current month. If I navigate to say October, and then navigate to another page and then try to go back to the page with the Calendar by clicking the browser Back button, the Calendar resets back to August, instead of remaining at October. Can anyone recommend how I may circumvent this? Thanks!

I am using Safari 4 for testing. How can I click a button that uses the onclick attribute and window.location to redirect using Safari 4 and Selenium RC PHPUnit Extension? Here's my HTML: <input type="button" onclick="window.location='/registrations/new'" value="Start a new registration" id="create"> Update: Alternatively, I'm thinking about doing something where I assert that a location is specified in the window.location='', store that location, and call the open() command using that location. Not sure if this is an acceptable approach to testing this.

• Back Button gets Disabled on IE 7,8 for an ASP.NET site

  In an ASP.NET 3.5 website we are noticing that the back button is not working properly. If the user does several postbacks (say 10 times), and than starts pressing back button - the back button gets disabled before the user gets through all the pages. The site does not use AJAX.net. I can reproduce the issue on IE 7 and 8 almost always. The problem seems to be with some sort of limit IE has on History Cache for a given tab/instance. In the tests I did the post request to the server are large - around 83k, and the responses are are round 300k. It seems that with these request sizes the history does not hold more than 4 items. The moment I get to the 5 post, the first item i had selected is dropped.

• Crystal Reports - Facilitating front/back printing

  I have a crystal report that is designed to spit out a bunch of reports. Each report is 2 to 7 pages in length. We would like to print on the front and back of pages. However, if we did this now... approximately half of the following reports would print on the back of the last past of the preceding report. Is there a good method for detecting whether an extra page break should be inserted, and if so, actually inserting it, so that when we print the 150 pages front/back that now one piece of paper actually holds data from separate reports?   In the similar question "Conversion of byte[] into a String and then back to a byte[]" is said to not to do the byte[] to String and back conversion, what looks like apply to most cases, mainly when you don't know the encoding used. But, in my case I'm trying to save to a DB the javax.crypto.SecretKey data, and recoverd it after. The interface provide a method getEncoded() which returns the key data encoded as byte[], and with another class I can use this byte[] to recover the key. So, the question is, how do I write the key bytes as String, and later get back the byte[] to regenerate the key?

• Switch back to previously selected tab after the activity is recreated

  In my TabActivity the user may be asked to switch to browser activity for OAuth phase, and if the phase takes too much time, my activity will be killed. After the user switches back to my activity, its onCreate() method is invoked again and tabs are recreated. So I would like to know if there is any simple way to switch back to previous tab, and keep the tab as what it was. For example, one of the tab views contains a ViewSwitcher child, and I want to switch back to the switched view after recreating the activity.

• Best way to fix an out-of-sync TFS workspace after a back-up/restore

  Wednesday I had to restore from a back-up image I made on Monday. At the time of the snapshot I had about 20 files modified, which I later checked in, and more, on Tuesday. Now that I am back to a snapshot from Monday morning, my workspace has all of these files checked-out or added, etc. even my check-in comments and work-item associations. But I already did that check-in on Tuesday. I'm thinking I will shelve all the pending changes (just in-case), and then just undo all changes, and get latest (specific version). And I should be back to good. Any cautions or suggestions? (TFS 2008, VS2010)

  Basically all pages on this site I am building cannot be accessed when the user clicks on "Back" (or with key control) in the browser, and the page should expire if one is trying to navigate back in history. I put into Global.asax::Application_BeginRequest Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache) Response.Cache.SetExpires(DateTime.UtcNow.AddDays(-1)) Response.Cache.SetValidUntilExpires(False) Response.Cache.SetRevalidation(HttpCacheRevalidation.AllCaches) Response.Cache.SetNoStore() This would clear out the cache and disallow going back to any pages when the user is logged out, but doesn't do the job while the user is logged in. I saw posts where people suggested using a javascript approach, by calling History.Forward(1) on the page. But I wouldn't like to do this, as it will require javascript enabled to work (which user can disable). Appreciate any suggestions.

  Having a problem with fixed div using iPhone's Safari. I know that in iOS 5 the functionality for position:fixed have been added. My div is positioned at the top of the screen and behave pretty good, anyway, there are some bugs during scrolling. But what actually makes me angry - it is the position of this div after coming back to the current page clicking on javascript:history.back(-1) link. The fixed div sticks in the middle of a screen. When I try to scrool, it jumps back on the right position. Is there any cure for the bug?

  I have register form on every page of my website. During registration some error may occur. After cathing error, I have to return user to previous page, showing some error tips. The problem is I dont know from which page user performs registration. That's why I use res.redirect('back');. However, I cant just redirect user back, I have to show him whats wrong. Thats why I have to pass some parameter. But res.redirect('back', (reg_error:'username')}) can not be used directly 'cause res.redirect() doesn't support parameters. How can I render prevous page with some parameter? Thanks!

• Windows 7 alt-tab window disappears to back when aero peek is enabled

  There is a strange bug with Aero Peek and Alt-Tab where the Alt-Tab window itself is sent all of the way to the back, and is obscured by whatever window may be being previewed in front of it. While it still works for switching tabs, it's extremely annoying to not be able to see what other windows are there. One solution I've found is to just disable Aero Peek, but I like the Aero Peek feature when it works, and want it enabled. Some users of Lenovo products have found that uninstalling the "Thinkvantage communications" VoIP suite fixes it for them, but my laptop is an HP, not a Lenovo. The only VoIP software I have installed is Skype, which I removed to see if it had something to do with VoIP, but that didn't have any effect. I had seen this issue before on my old laptop, but it usually went away after a while, and always after a reboot. On my new computer (HP dm4t) it always occurs, and is driving me nuts. If anybody can actually pinpoint what the problem is and more importantly how to fix it, I will be extremely thankful. Window being previewed is in front of the Alt-Tab window Update: The issue seems to have randomly resolved itself, at least for now. I have no idea what changed, since I haven't made any modifications to the system between when it was broken and when it started working. Attached is another screenshot of it working properly, with the alt-tab window in front of everything else. I'd still like to know what causes this if anybody can determine it.   Im using Mac excel 2011 and I can't seem to get Macro to work. What I am trying to do is that in Worksheet (1st) I am trying to get all of the data entered in the Cases Table at the bottom to all be automatically inserted into the table in the "Cases" worksheet when I click on the "Update" button. But instead I keep getting a pop up saying runtime error and then it asks if I want to End, debug or something else. I just don't know if it is because I am not using Mac Excel correctly as I am used to using windows because I believe my code is correct in the VBA editor to get the button working. Anone who is able to use Mac excel 11 can they check to see if they can use the file provided to see i the button works? If anyone has windows excel then please feel free to check to see if it works on there as well. If it is a coding problem then can you please let me know. • Give back full control to a user on a disk from another computer

  I have my friend's hard drive mounted externally. After messing with the permissions with TAKEOWN so I could fix some viruses, I have full control over their drive. The problem is, now it's stuck in a "autochk not found" reboot sequence. I think the problem is that the boot sector is invisible to the drive now. So my question is, How can I use icacls to give back the full ownership, when the user I am giving it to is not on my machine? I ran the TAKEOWN command from my windows 7 laptop, their machine is a windows xp Professional with three partitions, I only altered the one that has the boot sector. • DansGuardian/Squid Traffic doesn't get back to user

  I've purchased a Squid appliance that I'm attempting to implement, however the lack of documentation has left me a bit high and dry. Forgive me if this is a silly question, but this is my first attempt at implementing Squid. From what I can ascertain from the documentation (or lack thereof), the users connect to DansGuardian first at port 8080 where the filtering is done, at which point it forwards it to the Squid appliance at port 3128. The traffic is then sent to the internet. The setup I have is as follows Gateway (MikroTik router) : 192.168.88.1 Squid/DansGuardian :192.168.88.100 Client : 192.168.88.238 Client --- Gateway --- Proxy --- Internet I have set up a simple NAT rule to forward all traffic from the client machine (for testing purposes) to go to the DansGuardian. The traffic seems to get there, although I see a lot of SYN_RECV w/ a netstat -antp command on the virtual appliance machine. From this I gather that the traffic is NOT being routed back to the client machine. • pgpoolAdmin keeps going straight back to it's login page

  I'm trying to run pgpoolAdmin through nginx - it seems to be working properly, at least initially. I've gone through the initial set-up, which works fine, but now after logging in every link takes me straight back to the login page. It also shows japanese text instead of english, despite picking english in the installation. It seems to me just as if it was unable to save any user data, session information etc. I have javascript/cookies enabled, so it's not that. The ownership of the folder is nginx, and so too is pgmgt.conf.php, so it shouldn't be a problem with permissions. One potential issue is that I can't seem to see any confirmation that php postgresql support is enabled in the php info screen, despite the correct package installed and in the config line. Any ideas as to what's happening here?
