  • Background thread in .NET

    When the user saves some data, I want to spin off a background thread to update my indexes and do some other random stuff. Even if there is an error in this indexing the user can't do anything about it, so there is no point in forcing the main thread to wait until the background thread finishes. I'm doing this from a ASP.NET process, so I think I should be able to do this (as the main thread exiting won't kill the process). When I set a breakpoint in the background thread's method though, the main thread also appears to stop. Is this just an artifact of visual studio's debugger, or is the main thread really not going to return until the background thread stops?

I replaced fill="{bluedream}" with fill="using_variable" and lead to error compiled message: Initializer for 'fill': values of type com.degrafa.core.IGraphicsFill cannot be represented in text. Is there a solution to use this code as a color changer?

  • Video driver reports 8-bit color depth after Windows Update

    Windows Update pushed out a new video driver for the Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. One HP 6730b laptop was updated from 8.15.10.1872 to 8.15.10.2021. After the update the color depth is reported as 8-bit even if the setting is 32-bit. This means that Areo effects are disabled. Downgrading to 8.15.10.1872 did not help. Is there any way to force the video driver to report 32-bit color depth?

  • Cannot open a .tif with color using .Net Image or Bitmap classes

    I am attempting to open .tif files that have color in them (300 dpi, PixelFormat.Format24bppRgb) using the .Net Image and Bitmap classes. I always get an "invalid parameter" error when the tiffs have color (works fine for black and white tiffs). If anyone has source code on how to open a .tif with color in it I'd deeply appreciate it. Below is what I'm attempting to do; this also fails when calling Bitmap.FromStream: using (FileStream fs = File.OpenRead(fileName)) { using (Image img = Image.FromStream(fs)) {} }

    I need to change background color of CkEditor, on some basic jQuery methods, like ready, change, etc. Tried with things like: $(document).on('click','.change-task-status', function(e){ $(".cke_editable").css("background-color", 'red'); }) ... but nothing happens.     Given a source color of any hue by the system or user, I'd like a simple algorithm I can use to work out a lighter or darker variants of the selected color. Similar to effects used on Windows Live Messenger for styling the user interface. Language is C# with .net 3.5. Responding to comment: Color format is (Alpha)RGB. With values as bytes or floats. Marking answer: For the context of my use (a few simple UI effects), the answer I'm marking as accepted is actually the most simple for this context. However, I've given up votes to the more complex and accurate answers too. Anyone doing more advanced color operations and finding this thread in future should definitely check those out.     Hi all, I am having an issue positioning a background image using the following jquery background position command in Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari. The code works correctly in IE 8. $('#element).css({ backgroundPosition: 'xpx ypx' }); The x position of the image is calculated dynamically based on window size and the y position is static. The css appears to be modified correctly, however, the background image I am attempting to overlay is absent.     Im using following CSS to set a background-image for my menu #menuContainer { background:url('../images/main-bg.png') repeat-x; } My CSS is inside ~/styles/site.css and my image is inside ~/images/main-bg.png The problem is this works perfectly in Chrome but it's not working in Firefox. But if change the URL to #menuContainer { background:url('images/main-bg.png') repeat-x; } It starts working in Firefox and in Chrome it doesn't work. Can anyone please help?

  • Desktop Properties Background selection problems

    From the Desktop of my XP Home Edn SP3 system, under the Right-Click Menu Properties, the [Desktop] tab, of the 'Display Properties' window shows a selection list for the Desktop's Background image. For me this list has become frozen and its slider (at right) will not move. The [Browse] button and the 'Position' dropdown list (whether the selected image is centred, stretched, etc) are also greyed out. I can still use both the Color dropdown list at the right of the Background list and the [Customize Desktop] button below it, and make any changes as desired. What's gone wrong. I'm guessing maybe a registery setting or I've deleted a file somewhere, but haven't found the cause as yet. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

    I have a uitableview with 2 cells (custom tableviewcells) and a button for login. I made them programmatically. Now I want to put a background image behind the 2 custom cells and the button. I went into IB and put the image view on top of the tableview and then put a picture on it which I want as the background. Then I went into viewDidLoad and put this bit of code tblSimpleTable.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; to clear the tableviews background colour. It now looks like this: But the background does not appear. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.
