• Streaming audio from a webpage

  I want to be able to stream audio from another webpage through mine, but i do not know how to find the url for each audio file located on a separate webpage. It would also be extremely helpful to do everything in bulk so instead of writing a separate line of code for each audio file, simply writing a few lines of code to upload links to 100 audio files, etc. I am also using Ruby on Rails for my webpage. How do you find a file located on a separate webpage? Does anyone know, if possible how, to upload file links in bulk?

• Best way to track multiple sites with Google Analytics

  I currently have 63 websites (and counting) that I'm tracking on one Google Analytics account, and I'm starting to realize... this is becoming a bit cumbersome. What's the best way to collect traffic data in bulk? Are there other resources out there that are better suited for this task? Does Google offer a bulk option for this kind of thing? Would it be better to make separate analytics accounts? I'm just wondering if anyone else has had found a better solution that manually setting up all these accounts/setting up the tracking codes etc, when it comes to large scale management.

• Can't control connection bit rate using iwconfig with Atheros TL-WN821N (AR7010)

  I'm trying to reduce the connection bit rate on my Atheros TP-Link TL-WN821N v3 usb wifi adapter due to frequent instability issues (reported connection speed goes down to 1Mb/s and I have to physically reconnect the adapter to regain a connection). I know this is a common problem with this device, and I have tried everything I can think of to fix it, including using drivers from linux-backports; compiling and installing a custom firmware (following instructions on https://wiki.debian.org/ath9k_htc#fw-free) and (as a last resort) using ndiswrapper. When using ndiswrapper, the wifi adapter is stable and operates in g mode at 54Mb/s (whilst when using the default ath9k_htc module, the adapter connects in n mode and the bit rate fluctuates constantly). Unfortunately, with this setup I have to run my processor using only one core, since using SMP with ndiswrapper causes a kernel oops on my system. So I want to lock my bit rate to 54Mb/s (or less, if need be) for connection stability, using the ath9k_htc module. I've tried 'sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M'; the command runs with no error but when I check the bit rate with 'sudo iwlist wlan0 bitrate' the command returns: wlan0 unknown bit-rate information. Current Bit Rate:78 Mb/s Any ideas? Here's some info (hopefully relevant) on my setup: Xubuntu (12.04.3) 64bit (kernel 3.2.0-55.85-generic) using Network Manager. • adjust selected File to FileFilter in a JFileChooser

  I'm writing a diagram editor in java. This app has the option to export to various standard image formats such as .jpg, .png etc. When the user clicks File-Export, you get a JFileChooser which has a number of FileFilters in it, for .jpg, .png etc. Now here is my question: Is there a way to have the extension of the default adjust to the selected file filter? E.g. if the document is named "lolcat" then the default option should be "lolcat.png" when the png filter is selected, and when the user selects the jpg file filter, the default should change to "lolcat.jpg" automatically. Is this possible? How can I do it? edit: Based on the answer below, I wrote some code. But it doesn't quite work yet. I've added a propertyChangeListener to the FILE_FILTER_CHANGED_PROPERTY, but it seems that within this method getSelectedFile() returns null. • sybase bcp import fails

  We're trying to export some tables from our production database to our test database using bcp. The bcp export seems to work fine, but the import always fails with a data type error (see below). We tested on our test database exporting the table content to a file, then importing it in again immediately, but that failed too. e.g., bcp TABLENAME out ~/tempfile -S servername -U username generates a file as expected. If we use -c option then the number of lines is as expected. However, bcp TABLENAME in ~/tempfile -S servername -U username fails with CTLIB Message: - L0/0D/S0/N0/0/0: blk_int(): blk_layer: CT library error: Cannot find an equivalent CS_TYPE for this TDS data type 49 blk_init failed. We get this whenever we try to copy into TABLENAME, whether from the production or test table dump file. I don't understand why export and import for the same TABLENAME is generating a data type error. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks

• What's the most efficient way to reclaim disk space after deleting lots of data from a database on Sybase ASE 15?

  As I understand it, based on some research but zero real-world experience with Sybase ASE, the only way to reclaim disk space once it's been allocated to a database is to export that database, create a new DB with the same schema, and reload all the exported data to the new database. Is this correct, or is there some other method? Then: assuming the above is correct and a full export-recreate-reload is required, what's the most efficient way to do that? Are there tools that will automate all or part of that process? I'm being told we would have to write separate bcp export and import commands for each and every object in the database, which if true sounds easily scriptable by someone who knows Sybase ASE well enough. (I don't.) This seems to me like a really basic housekeeping task, and it feels like I'm missing something obvious.

• Where can I get an Adobe Flash Page Curl / Flip / Peel Effect tutorial?

  I currently work on a brochure in InDesign. I export as an SWF and apply a page curl effect to it when publishing so I can put it online. It's great. However, I now want to take the brochure to the next level and make each page interactive. To do this I export from InDesign as an XFL (flash format). This gets the brochure into Flash, with each page on a separate frame. I can now make the page interactive; this is also great! All I need to do now is create the page flip effect again, because when you export to XFL you cannot embed a page flip effect on it. The trouble is I can't find a tutorial anywhere for creating this effect. Anyone know where I can find one?

  Is there any good software for monitoring the health of a collection of related software? Requirements are as follows: Web-based, deployable on standard Linux/BSD software. Configurable to support a variety of processes, scheduled at various intervals. Some sort of dashboard interface, for monitoring status, viewing errors, etc. As an example, suppose we have a daily export that's scheduled to run at 6AM each morning. After the export completes, it would POST a status message, saying it had completed, passing in some sort of application key to identify the export. If that status message hadn't come in, by, say, 6:30AM, an e-mail might be sent, that application should go red on the dashboard, etc. Applications should also be able to post error/warning messages. Basically the goal is to be able to monitor all of our internal projects from one system, rather than a multitude of e-mails, log files, etc. I suspect that I'll probably have to end up writing this from scratch, but I just thought I'd ask.

• issues changing default version when updating Python on Mac

  I have a MacBook that came with Python 2.5 installed. I need use a newer version, so I downloaded 3.1 and installed it, then ran the "Update Profile Script" that came with it, which is supposed to change the default version of Python to the one I downloaded. It appeared to run fine and said process completed, but it didn't work. When I type "python" into the terminal it displays version 2.5, and I still can't install pygame, which requires at least Python 2.6. When I do vi .profile I get this: export PATH=.:/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:$PATH export MANPATH=/opt/local/man:$MANPATH Setting PATH for Python 3.1 The orginal version is saved in .profile.pysave PATH="/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.1/bin:${PATH}" export PATH ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ".profile" 6L, 251C So it looks like the script did do something, but I don't know enough bash script to understand what.   I am running CentOS 6.5 on my desktop. I've set the Network Proxy using the network proxy application provided under Preferences. I've also set the following exceptions: localhost,127.0.0.0/8,172.16.0.0/12,192.168.0.0./16 But whenever I am using wget (I'm testing the proxy settings using using wget) then wget tries to connect to the proxy for private addresses, but wget localhost works fine and doesn't use the proxy. I also removed all the proxy settings and set the proxy in the shell: export http_proxy="<proxy_url>:<port>" export https_proxy="<proxy_url>:<port>" export no_proxy="localhost,127.0.0.0/8,172.16.0.0/12,192.168.0.0./16" It work when I use the command wget <external_url> or wget localhost but fails when I use the command wget <private address from the $no_proxy variable>. I also tried setting the variables in Ubuntu 14.04 also and facing the same issue. Regards,

  I see a ton on articles on importing PST files in Exchange 2010, but I do not have the option. I need to import PST files, can anyone shed some light. I added the administrator to the “Mailbox Import Export” role using the following at the shell. New-ManagementRoleAssignment –Role “Mailbox Import Export” –User “administrator” I installed Outlook as recommended here, but I only get export option in the console and trying to run the import from the shell only gives error saying cmdlet mot found. Any help is appreciated.

  I'm trying to migrate the settings of my old machine (Win XP Professional) to the new one (Win 7 Professional) and I would like to keep my saved passwords for various wireless networks. How can I export them from XP and import in Win7? A few things that are mentioned a lot in chat groups but don't work: netsh can export/import wlan profiles on Vista/Win7, but not on XP; the Wireless Network Setup Wizard can only export settings for networks created by me; the best method I found was via http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_wep_key_faq.html which can list hex keys, but cannot load them nor save them in a useful format; I would rather not copy them one-by-one by hand.

  I am using Red Hat Linux Enterprise 5. I know the theory that -- using export to set environment variable, the environment variable will apply to current and child environment, but without using export to set environment variable, the environment variable will only apply to the current environment. My confusion is, what is the exact definition of "child environment" and "current environment"? For example, $ var1=123 $ echo "Hello [$var1]" the value of var1 (which is 123) is printed in shell, but I think echo is a command invoked by current shell, and it (the echo command) should be a child environment of current shell and the value of var1 should not (because not using export var1=123) impact echo. • Mongodump on Gridfs is killing the host IOs

  I'm trying to make a mongodump from our production mongodb while the production is running. We have three production instances, one regular mongodb, one with very few gb of data on gridfs, one with a larger amount of data on gridfs. All mongodb instances are running in version 2.4.9 on a ubuntu 10.04 virtual server. I use a mongodump command to export the bases to another server. Unfortunately our machines are virtually hosted in a "low performances" datacenter (vmware based) so when I try to export the large gridfs db, the disk IO hits 100% (and 50% of the cpu starts waiting for IO too). This has a very negative impact on the production applicatiosn because db access time is excessively increased, making the applications unusable. I'm looking for a way to regulate the mongodump so the export goes slower but cooler on the hardware ressources allowing better performances for the applications to run. Has anyone had a similar scenario ?

  There is a Microsoft KB article that talks about best practices for running a DC on a VM. One of the notes is "Do not use the Export feature on a virtual machine that is running a domain controller". In order to export a VM, the VM needs to be turned off. If you turn off a DC VM, export it, import it on another server and then power the VM back on, there should be no risk as long as the original (exported) VM is never powered back on. Can someone explain to me why this isn't supported? After doing some searching on Google, the sites I found just regurgitated this line from the KB article, but didn't offer any explanation as to why this isn't supported.

  I'm looking for a solution that will allow me to export a desktop app running on a server to a client machine. The server is ideally Linux, the desktop is Windows (+Mac for icing on the cake). The export should be encrypted and I need to support multiple clients from one server. I only want to export an individual app, not a whole desktop, and ideally am looking for open source solutions. The obvious, cheapest, simplest choice is to use X tunnelled over ssh (e.g using Xming on the desktop) but X doesn't support audio. What are the alternatives? Or is there a way to support audio using X or in parallel to X? Thanks

  I mount NFSv4 export via /etc/fstab and mount and use the shared folder in nautilus. There are two issues: When I copy a large file (around 4 GB) to the NFS server, the progress bar rapidly goes to 2 GB and then basically stops moving. But the copy s still in progress - it is just not displayed well When I disconnect from the network without unmounting the nfs share, nautilus freezes. • ssh freezes when trying to connect to some hosts

  When I try to ssh to particular machine/s in a list, The SSH command happens to be freezing. I tried out setting ssh timeout. But then also it's freezes even after the timeout. In verbose mode : OpenSSH_3.9p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7a Feb 19 2003 debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config debug1: Applying options for * debug1: Connecting to x358.x.server.com [10.x.x.x] port 22. debug1: fd 3 clearing O_NONBLOCK debug1: Connection established. debug1: identity file /export/home/sqlrpt/.ssh/identity type -1 debug1: identity file /export/home/sqlrpt/.ssh/id_rsa type -1 debug1: identity file /export/home/sqlrpt/.ssh/id_dsa type 2 At this point it freezes. A work around I thought was to create a child process for each ssh calls and if the process doesn't respond after a timeout - Kill it. But are there any less complex ways, so that I can accommodate it in a shell script itself rather than going for a C/C++ program ?

• Copy an Amazon EC2 Instance to use locally

  Ok, so we have a spare server I have installed Debian Wheezy on, and setup Xen on for virtual machines. It has better performance than all our ec2 instances combined, and will cost less to run (for a few various reasons) I would like to get the EC2 instances downloaded to my server, and converted to run for Xen, but im having difficulty finding anything specific. I did not setup the EC2 instances myself, and am not very familiar with them. Everything I have found (which isnt much) just says "Do XYZ" and I have no idea how to do those. So being as specific as possible would be helpful. Also, confusingly I see people writing in forums saying you can only export linux images (which mine are, Ubuntu images) but then I see on amazons export tool saying you can only export Windows server? Am I missing something here? Is that not the right place to be looking? Thanks

• Mac OS X keeps "old" environment variable around

  So far I had /Applications/play-1.2.5/ added to my $PATH variable. Now I'm working with 2.2.1, which I installed in /Applications/play-2.2.1 and changed in ~/.bash_profile (which is getting sourced at startup). However, when printing $PATH, 1.2.5 is somehow still around: mbp:~ user$ echo $PATH /usr/local/share/npm/bin:/Applications/play-2.2.1:/usr/local/heroku/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/Applications/play-1.2.5:/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/bin/:/opt/X11/bin As far as I now, I only entered $PATH variables in .bash_profile, which looks like this: mbp:~ user$ cat .bash_profile source ~/.git-completion.bash ### Added by the Heroku Toolbelt export PATH="/usr/local/heroku/bin:$PATH" ### Play Framework export PATH="/Applications/play-2.2.1:$PATH" export PATH="/usr/local/share/npm/bin:$PATH" I'm also not sure where the XAMPP extension to the variable comes from. Can I see somewhere which other files are being sourced on startup?

• How to Backup and Transfer Opera Settings, Profiles, and Browsing Sessions

  We’ve previously shown you how to backup Firefox profiles using an extension and third-party software and how to backup Google Chrome profiles. If you use Opera, there is a free tool that makes it easy to backup Opera profiles, settings, and even browsing sessions. Opera offers a sync service, called Opera Link, which allows you to sync your bookmarks, personal bar, history, Speed Dial, notes, and search engines with other computers. However, this service does not sync your current browsing sessions and passwords. We found a free tool, called Stu’s Opera Settings Import & Export tool, that allows you to export all your Opera settings, profiles, and browsing sessions to an archive and import it into Opera on the same or another computer. Stu’s Opera Settings Import & Export tool is portable and does not need to be installed. Simply download the .zip file using the link at the end of this article.
