  We released Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.1 recently. OSC offers both High Availability (HA) and also Scalable Services capabilities. HA delivers automatic restart of software on the same cluster node and/or automatic failover from a failed node to a working cluster node. Software and support is available for both x86 and SPARC systems. The Scalable Services features manage multiple cluster nodes all providing a load-balanced service such as web servers or app serves. OSC 4.1 includes the ability to recover services from software failures, failure of hardware components such as DIMMs, CPUs, and I/O cards, a global file system, rolling upgrades, and much more. • FatCow and iPage real deal?

  I need a cheap host that I can upgrade if needed for a startup. From searching, FatCow and iPage seem reliable and inexpensive web hosting services with a Unix OS and good bandwidth + disk space. I suspect they were bought from the same company. They propose to offer unlimited bandwidth/disc space and perks like AdSense/Facebook credit however, they're packages range from 1-3 years @ 3.15 USD/mo, there isn't a monthly package but they do allow you to cancel at anytime and there servers run on wind-mill generated energy which is a plus. I was suspicious because I couldnt seem to find one negative review about them, just affiliate pages until I read a review explaining they're strict policies on copywritten data. Has anyone experience with one of these two hosts?

• Creating Objects

  I have a general coding standard question. Is it bad practice to initialize and create an object in multiple methods depending on the outcome of a users choice. So for example if the user quits a poker game, create the poker hand with the cards the user has received, even if < 5, and if the user played till the end create object to show completed hand to show outcome of the game. The key is that the object will only be created once in actuality, there are just different paths and parameters is will receive depending on if the user folded, or played on to the showdown.

• No useful DVB-T card found

  I am using Ubuntu 12.04 3.2.0-26 kernel and I just added a DVB-T card. I did install the media_build as in (http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_Obtain,_Build_and_Install_V4L-DVB_Device_Drivers) After that the Restricted Drivers appeared on the screen and I installed the Firmware for DVB Cards. lsusb shows Bus 002 Device 005: ID 048d:9005 Integrated Technology Express, Inc. which is my card. lsmod shows these things regarding dvb dvb_usb_it913x 22173 0 dvb_usb 32369 1 dvb_usb_it913x dvb_core 110010 1 dvb_usb rc_core 26343 2 dvb_usb_it913x,dvb_usb Nevertheless there is no /dev/dvb on my linux and Kaffeine does not find the TV turner. Can anybody help me installing my TV Card? Thanks

  Which vendor provides better GPGPU. my requirements are confined to rendering utilising the GPU for BSDF building for e.g. Intel started providing Ivy Bridge chipset GPU, which are comparably fast to HD5960 cards. I'm not that against nvidia or amd. but I'm a fan of Intel. how it compares to nvidia in price and performance. if possible may I know, how all of them perform with OpenCL?? I'm not sure if it is right to ask it here. but I don't know where to ask.

  I have worked with Google AdWords before and will now be managing an AdWords account for a client. I have a My Client Center account, but I'm wondering what the best practices are for billing. Should I link billing to my own credit card and then have the client pay me (they have to pay me to manage the account anyway), or should I have the client pay Google directly? How is this usually done? If it is the later, what is the best way to have them input their payment info?

• Is it ok to run with unknown video device?

  I'm new to linux and just starting to learn. From what I've read and experimented with there's no more support for older ati mobility cards. I resolved a few boot issues with my first install of Ubuntu 12.10(now on clean install #3) and my system seems to function ok with video unknown. Picture quality is good and no issues with video playback. It functions for my purposes. Should I leave it as is......or will this cause problems I'm not aware of? Thanks

  I have a photo website. 15% of the photos belong to approved registered users. They agree my terms about uploading their images in my web pages. I include a photographer credit on right bottom corner. About identifying the site with google, every page contains a google+ button to MY google+ page it also contains <link href="https://plus.google.com/nnnnnnnnnn/" rel="publisher" /> I need some advice in order to respect google rules about my pages containing other photographers images not to be penalized because of possible duplicated or interpreted as stolen content. My concern is also about adding G+ links (to MY photo page) and Google publisher id would harm my site rank because of pages containing third-party photos.

I put in 30-40 hours of coding and development. I've been a huge fan of Open Source projects and I've also built by software on python. But now when it comes to selling my software to my customers, I expect money. (Am I being a Hypocrite?) Is there any OSS license under which I can make money and also make my source open? Please suggest. Or any other way to make money with my softwares? (I guess I deserve some credit. If not the code, atleast the ideas? :D )

• Deactivate one graphicdevice in a SLI system

  As it is now, I have a Gaminglaptop with 2 GeForce 9800M GT with SLI activated, Ubuntu 12.04. When I use any graphicdriver that is aware of acceleration features the system crashes after a short period of time. After I removed and purged jockey my system runs stable but slowly, but I can use it for now (I have to choose recovery at startup and the resume boot, botting up normal results in a colorflickering screen). But since the system is runs slowly, I would like to try to work with only one graphicdevice. First test device A, if that doesn't work test with device B. A testing tool for Windows already told me, that one of the cards doesn't work properly, but it doesn't say which one (same crashes in Windows when programs or desktop uses acceleration). Therefore I wanted to ask, if there is a way to reinstall any nVidia (or third party) driver, deactivate one of the two devices and test the stability?

  I have install Ubuntu 11.10 64bit on my Hp Dv6-3150el. My Notebook has two graphics cards: lspci | grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Madison [AMD Radeon HD 5000M Series] I tried to install the proprietary graphics drivers ''fglrx'' available in "Additional Drivers", which does not give me 3D graphics acceleration (and I can't install those post-release). Then I can try to download and install from the website (I tried the version that Catalyst 11.8 11.12). The installation goes perfectly (I followed this guide and others), except that when I configure Xorg.conf file: sudo aticonfig --initial PowerXpress error: Cannot stat '/usr/lib64/fglrx': No such file or directory Failed to initialize libglx for discrete GPU

• Leapfrog Crammer won't mount as a USB flash drive

  I can't seem to get the Leapfrog Crammer study and sound system to show up as a flash drive under ubuntu so I can transfer stuff to it. I don't want to install the leapfrog bloatware, can someone help me with this? Additional Information: When I plug my crammer into my computer it shows a 1 MB file system with a link to download the crammer software. I want to know how to access the rest of the crammer's file system so I can transfer music to it. The crammer does not show any other partitions in natulius. According to an article on the internet, the crammed is divided into three partitions: One with a link to install the crammer software, one with all content(music, flash cards, etc.) and one for firmware. I want to know how to access the one with the content so I can add music to the player. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance.

• Help with intel Imac 2008 Audio not working

  I installed Ubuntu 12.04 and I get no audio except if i insert speakers and set them as headphones. This means really weird feedback and little volume. i'd like to set it back to the mac's default speakers but currently no matter what graphical interface i go into such as Audio or Alsamixer i can not fix the problem.Ive run alsamixer and looked thoroughly throught the forums but cannot find the answer to my problem. • Get a new instance with StructureMap

I’m going to use this for the DBContext and for WCF Service references. Since the ObjectFactory is a static class, MVC will have these stored in memory without this. • Finding .desktop files based on their titles?

  That's part 2 of a question asked earlier (to be able to give credit to the answers individually). When I type into the Dash applications show up with their title (also when hovering over the launcher), how can I find the associated desktop file. When I look into the usual suspect locations (/usr/share/applications and ~/.local/share/applications) with Nautilus I see the titles, but not the file names (not even in properties which sucks). When I look from the command line I see the file names but not the titles (a switch would be nice). How can I get a listing (a custom column?) that shows them next to each other?

• Triple monitors on hybrid video system GeForce+Intel

  I use Lenovo Ideapad Z580A with hybrid video: GeForce+Intel with Ubuntu 12.10 x64 Ukrainian. It has internal display and two outputs: HDMI and VGA. When I connect third display to VGA all displays go black. Pressing alt+backspace and login causes output to two displays: internal and VGA. System Settings - Displays (or monitors - I have Ukrainian interface) shows three displays: two are on, one (DVI) is off. Turning DVI on and pressing apply causes an error: Can not set configuration of controller CRTC 65. BIOS setting is Optimus (two video cards). Driver for GeForce is Nouveau. With best regards. • Time display and Cursor bug in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

  Just installed Ubuntu 14.04. Noticed the time in seconds speeds up then slows down to normal speed. The cursor for the keyboard has a strange rhythm; it stays normal, then slowly speeds up faster and faster till it looks like it's not blinking anymore, then goes back to normal and starts the process again. It almost seems like my whole operating system speeds up then slows down again. Even the hour circle that spins when it's loading starts slowly then it picks up speed till it spins so fast it looks like it's not even spinning. It interferes with video and the whole system. I have a Dell Vostro 3750 dual video cards and dual boot with Windows 7. Windows is running fine.

  Hi there, The company I work for is close to being finished with our first web app and we recently made the decision to offer hosting for our smaller customers. (We provide software to lending companies and our larger customers are required to buy redundant servers to host their application). What we are trying to work out right now is how to create user generated subdomains that will hold a new instance of the software. So a user will be able to sign up and say that the company name is XYZ Credit once they click on the create account button a url of xyzcredit.ourcompanyname.com is created and the user is redirected to it. • Dual 7950, freezes during startup

  I have two identical video cards right now. Xubuntu will boot up no problem if I only have one card installed. If I install the 2nd card it will just hang midway thru the loading screen. Regardless of which card I use and which position on the motherboard, it will freeze if I have both installed. I've tried installing the proprietary drivers, both fglrx and fglrx-updates, still freezes in the same spot. Uninstalled those and went back to the default ones. The only way I can get a terminal is by booting into failsafe mode. Booting using 13.10 i386 on a USB stick gives me some errors related to what I think is the 2nd video card: [drm:r600_ring_test] ERROR radeon: ring 1 test failed (scratch(0x850C)=0xCAFEDEAD) [drm:r600_dma_ring_test] ERROR radeon: ring 3 test failed (0x02FFFF6B) radeon 0000:0200.2 disabling GPU acceleration"

• Ubuntu 10.10 screen goes nuts and unreadable

  Running Ubuntu 10.10 in its own partition, also have Oracle Virtualbox 4 with Windows XP. Because i previously had a problem with a dark screen when i let the laptop on and i didn't use it for a long while i had set Power settings to Never sleep, never let the Display sleep. Monitor on install set to Laptop resolution 1400 by 1050, refresh rate 60 Hz, rotation Normal. The problem was when the computer was left on and i returned after about an hour, the screen was unreadable, similar to what used to happen to graphics cards before multisync became normal. So it appears as though the graphics card was asked to use a resolution it couldn't handle and went nuts. I had to power off the system, on restart everything was fine. Thanks for any suggestions.
