  • Office 2010 Trusted Locations not working after restart

    In Excel 2010, on Windows XP, I am unable to open files - through the open dialog box - from a network drive. The sever has already been added to the Trusted Locations and now most security settings turned down or off. Excel will show "Downloading ..." on that status bar and a progress bar which doesn't progress. We have left Excel sitting in this state for 30+ minutes and no change. A similar problem occurs when saving files to network shares. If we use explorer to navigate to the files and double click them they open flawlessly. No add-ins are active. We also have this problem in Word 2010, but the server was not initially in the Trusted Locations. I added it and it worked until the PC was reset, it now exhibits the same issues as Excel where the server is in the Trusted locations but will not open files. I have tried removing the server from the Trusted Location in both applications, restarting the PC and re-adding them (testing before, after and in-between) and had no luck.

    Given a data sample like Prisoner 24601 0.50 Day 1 80 90 Day 2 81 89 Day 3 82 90 Day 4 81 91 What's the easiest way to tell Excel that 24601 and 0.50 are data series names rather than Y axis values when creating a line chart? Approaches I'm aware of: Turn Prisoner numbers into text by having ="24601" and ="0.50" Only select rows 2 onwards as data, and then add in the labels once the graph has been created? Approaches that don't appear to work: Ask Excel to format the first row's numbers as text.

I know that I can add to out of box ribbons by specifying the Tabs idMSo value but how do I do that for a custom ribbon tab. I have already tried the ID value of the custom ribbon, but it juts duplicates the ribbon? have also tried idMso and idQ attributes passing in the required custom tab Id but no success. I can add it to out of box tab group by specifying the idMso value but not to custom tab regards

    I had the question today of whether SharePoint 2010 supports workflow on multiple items, since Groove's workflow apparently supported multiple items and that model disappeared when Groove Workspaces were amalgamated into SharePoint Sites and SharePoint Workspace (the client utility). It's a great question, the short answer is that yes, it's possible. You could brute-force it in 2007 and that strategy should still carry over to 2010, and 3 new features (that I can think of) support multi-item scenarios...(read more)

    As its officials have been hinting and promising for a while now, Microsoft announced it has developed a version of its Bing search app for the iPhone. The new Bing app is available on the iPhone app store as of tonight (December 15). Microsoft already offers Bing on a number of mobile phones, and has a five-year deal with Verizon to provide Bing on a number of phones available to Verizon Wireless customers. A mobile version of Bing already is available for Windows Mobile, Blackberry, BREW and Sidekick devices on Verizon. In other Bing news, Microsoft has finally hit the 10 percent market share mark with Bing, according to the November U.S. search share data from comScore. Incremental crawling is scheduled at that time and few of the Timer jobs (normal timer jobs) are scheduled to run every mins / per 10mins. 2. Number of user requests are less. From SQL Server 2005 Perspective: 1. Transaction log backup is scheduled at that time 2.     To All Experts here, I'd like to perform a MOSS server content migration from the existing single instance server (SQL Server 2008, Windows Server 2008, SharePoint 2007 SP1) all in one and by maintaining the server name only, here's what I had in my migration plan document outline: I have created the new Windows Server 2008 R2 + SQL Server 2008 SP1 and MOSS 2007 SP2 after that: Backup MOSS_ContentDB from SQL Server 2008 SSMS (does this enough to cover all top level sites and its content in the library and doc. repository ?) Backup all top level sites from CA site using the CA Sites backup and restore tools. turn off the old MOSSDEV01 (current server) rename the existing server (TempServ01) into MOSSDEV01 (so that the user bookmark and other link inside MOSS site still working) perform restore of the DB restore the site collection and its content from the backup is that the correct way to do it ? I haven't execute the server configuration wizard to create the same port number of the SSP, CA and the SQL Server DB yet. Any idea and suggestion would be greatly appreciated Thanks.

  • Installing Sharepoint 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2

    we are using in our lab a clean installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 which is running as Hyper-V instance. Today we wanted to install a clean installation of Sharepoint 2007 with SP1 on this machine and we explorer an error that we are not able to install it. The setup is comes up with an error which is described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962935 but this is not our szenario. Nobody is going be happy with this solution and I hope we find a fast way how customers can install Sharepoint direclty on 2008 R2. Anyway, thanks in advance for any further information how we should go on with this issue.   • Exchange 2007 backup / restore

    To explain my situation I have a exchange 2007 server and I have recently upgraded to SP2 so that I can use windows server backup to take an "exchange aware" backup of the server. Is there an easy way of restoring this data onto a second server to which I have pre-installed server 2008 / exchange 2007 without upsetting my current exchange server set-up. Also is there a better way to do this, such as running one as a fall over should the primary exchange server develop a fault. I am still new to all this so please excuse any stupidity in my questions. Thanks in advance for any help and assistance

  • Word 2007 has highjacked my RTF association to Jarte Pro

    64-bit Vista I have both Word 2007 and Jarte Pro. I have used Default Programs Set Associations in Vista to associate RTF with Jarte Pro. However, when clicking on an RTF file in Explorer, it opens in Word 2007. Is there any way to correct this, other than to uninstall Word? :) =============================================================================== After much back and forth with Jarte's developer, he determined that: "The error you are encountering appears to be due to a problem Jarte is having communicating with your printer. However, I don't know why this would only be happening when you start Jarte by clicking on a file. I will have to investigate this further. Meanwhile, try downloading and installing the latest printer driver for your printer and see if that helps." I did have the latest driver. He will correct the problem with the next version of Jarte (a terrific program, BTW).

    Outlook 2007, starts at boot, minimized: suddenly, as of 2 weeks ago, when I click on the taskbar icon (Outlook already started but minimized) what opens on screen is a tiny "window" the size of the close-minimize-restore buttons. I then have to move it down the screen, and drag the borders to bring it to full size, or, sometimes, clicking on the restore button maximizes the tiny window: then, for days, it starts either the same way or in some other small size, not the same as I left it. I would appreciate suggestions on how to repair this particular example of Outlook not remembering its setting? win7, 64 bit. outlook 2007 32 bit

  • How do I deploy building blocks (quick parts) for Microsoft Outlook 2007?

    I want to deploy some building blocks for Microsoft Outlook 2007. Microsoft has put up a poor solution at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA102086531033.aspx#4 that asks you to save a template. That solution would require you to distribute that template to all the clients. An optimal solution would allow you to put the template containing the building blocks somewhere on the network and simply use the ”Workgroup building blocks path” group policy setting for shared paths in Microsoft Office 2007. Sadly, Outlook doesn’t respect that policy. Also, the described solution mentioned in the article above doesn’t work. Step 4 requests you to save the template as a Word Template after first asking you to save it as an Outlook Template. It seems that they copy&pasted the steps from the Word article and forgot to check whether it worked (and adjust the steps accordingly). Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions for how to distribute the building blocks without distributing NormalEmail.dotm (which will overwrite the clients’ own building blocks each time it is updated).   • Outlook 2010 Retrieving and restricting appointments programmatically causing recurrences to be incl

    I wrote a winforms app that uses Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook to retrieve and restrict appointments based upon the date range entered by a user. This worked fine with Outlook 2007 installed, however now that some users have updated to Outlook 2010 the appointment retrieval is pulling back incorrect appointments along with the correct ones falling within the specified date range. The additional incorrect appointments being retrieved always appear to be recurring appointments. I was wondering if this is a known bug and if so what exactly is happening that is causing these additional recurring appointments to come in? I'd rather not have to throw in a workaround where I step through the items after they have been restricted and remove the extra ones, when this functionality works fine with 2007. Note: I've not recompiled or updated any code when experiencing this issue, just running the old program. This is the spot in my code where appointments are being restricted.     Installed SharePoint Services v3 (SP2, october 2009 cumulative updates, Language Pack), attached to a content database I had previously (all works). Installed Search server 2008 Express (with language pack) on top of WSS and crawl does not work. However it works for newly created web application + database. Was playing around with accounts, permissions to try get it working. Currently I have WSS_Crawler account with such permissions: Office Search Server runs with WSS_Crawler account Config database has read permissions for WSS_Crawler Content database has read permissions for WSS_Crawler WSS_Crawler is owner of search database. Added WSS_Crawler to SQL server browser user group and administrator Yes, i'v given more permissions than needed, but it doesn't even work with that and i don't know if its permission problem or what. Crawl log says there is Error in the Site Data Web Service., nothing more. There were known issues with a similar error: Error in the Site Data Web Service. (Value does not fall within the expected range.), but this is not the case as thats an old issue and i hope it has been included in SP2... Logs are from olders to newest (descending order).   • Print Microsoft Project chart as giant PDF

    Hi, I have Adobe's PDF creator installed and I'm using Microsoft Project 2007... I want to print my gantt chart as one giant single-page PDF. (Currently it's set to print on letter sized paper, and it's six pages in a 3x2 layout.) I can't figure out where or how to make those settings. The PDF page setup doesn't seem to be right, nor "page setup" in Project. Help :-)

  • Adding reference to Office library failing: type or namespace name Word not found

    I'm trying to use the sample code here: I went to "Add Reference" dialog and added "Microsoft Word 12 library", but it doesn't appear in the Solution Explorer. I also added: using Microsoft.Office; I get the following error message when trying to declare a "Word" object. Error 1: The type or namespace name 'Word' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Any suggestions on how to properly reference the Word library?
