  • Recommend a CMS and extension to build an Event Manager [closed]

    I posted this question on SO but good friends there told me that SE is the better place for these kind of questions and the post was locked there by community. Hence, posting the question here as well: I have a lead to build an event manager solution in LAMP with following functionality: It should handle events by country, city, locality in city, type of event, venue type etc. following are a few user features: to see details of city, venue, event, performer etc. to purchase tickets and reserve tables. to search for events by city, venue, type, performer etc. to manage favorite venues and performers, save events etc. the venues should be able to add their events I plan to use a CMS (Joomla, Drupal etc.) with some ready made extension that provides most of the functionality or provide framework to build upon. Could you guys suggest me a CMS and an extension to build this. I know it is possible to do this in both Joomla or Drupal. What I am looking is the extension that is closest to my requirements whether it is done in Joomla or Drupal, or as a matter of fact any other CMS. Thanks in anticipation!

  • Why didn't virtual ubuntu halts clearly?

    I am running Ubuntu 11.10 on Oracle Virtual Box 4.2.4 under Windows 7 x64. To stop guest system I often use halt command which works fine on physical machines. But it looks hanging on virtual ubunty. After halt it starts shutting down, Ubuntu logo appears with dots below flashing. After some cycles it just stops. VM manager does not feel machine is gone, so I need to power off it. P.S. The system stops Ok if I shutdown it via GUI.

I need different addresses to go to their respective folders. Can someone please give me better instructions on how to set that up using webmin?   • Compizconfig Grid doesn't work under Ubuntu as virtual machine

    I have installed Ubuntu as virtual machine within Mac. I have installed VM tools. The approach in this link of Compizconfig Grid, which worked in my previous laptop where Ubuntu was not a virtual machine, does not work anymore. I set some shortcut, but no action is launched... Does anyone know why? The major functionality I need from Grid is tiling windows to left/right side of the screen... Does anyone know any alternative?

  • Visual Studio Load Tests Virtual Users Simulation

    Hello, I'm currently working on writing a load testing application that takes advantage of Load Test using Visual Studio 2010. The load test will simulate 20 users on the same machine, and I need some data to be shared in-memory between all simulated users. I was suprised I couldn't find documentation answering the following question: What seperates each virtual user's running context from the other? Does each virtual user runs the tests in its own process? Maybe in its own app domain? Or just on its own thread? I need to know because if each user is running tests in its own process then all the in-memory cache isn't shared and is created for each user instead of one time for all of them, which is bad for me.

  • Connect to a VPN from a Virtual Machine

    I am running an Ubuntu ditro inside a VMWare virtual machine with a bridged connection on a windows 7 host. What I am trying to do is to have the virtual machine connect to a VPN, but I'm not having much success. At first, the system was using wicd, but I replaced it with network-manager who's supposed to have OpenVPN support. The problem is, even tho i've purged the wicd installation, there're connections shown in the network manager, and still, I'm able to access the net. I've also added the openvpn data in the network manager tab, but it's shown as never used. PS: when I try to stop and start the NetworkManager service, an error message pops up telling me that there's not such a service, but apt-get tells me i've already installed it...

    I had follow this link to setup my first virtual host with apache2 under ubuntu 12.x. Looks easy but is not working. [How to][1] My internal dns can resolv the name, but my browsers is not showing me my webpage. from my lan, Im using ubuntu server no GUI. Every time I point to my virtual host name, I receive apache default page, I cannot see my custom page. My docs are under /home/mydomain/public_html This is my settings: ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost ServerName example.com DocumentRoot /home/example.com/public_html Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride None Order allow,deny allow from all The rest of the file is the same. No, I even try to change the port from *:80 to *:81, restart and don't see apache listen to port 81. My localDNS running in other machine works. What I forget?

I'm still fairly new to inheritance polymorphism, fyi.

  • ASP .NET Button event handlers do not fire on the first click, but on the second click after a PostB

    Background: I am customizing an existing ASP .NET / C# application. It has it's own little "framework" and conventions for developers to follow when extending/customizing its functionality. I am currently extending some of it's administrative functionality, to which the framework provides a contract to enforce implementation of the GetAdministrationInterface() method, which returns System.Web.UI.Control. This method is called during the Page_Load() method of the page hosting the GUI interface. Problem: I have three buttons in my GUI, each of which have been assigned an Event Handler. My administration GUI loads up perfectly fine, but clicking any of the buttons doesn't do what I expect them to do. However, when I click them a second time, the buttons work. I placed breakpoints at the beginning of each event handler method and stepped through my code. On the first click, none of the event handlers were triggered. On the second click, they fired. Any ideas? Example of Button Definition (within GetAdministrationInterface) public override Control GetAdministrationInterface() { // more code...     I have a lot of code like the following, where I explicitly implement some events required by an interface. public class IMicrowaveNotifier { event EventHandler<EventArgs> DoorClosed; event EventHandler<EventArgs> LightbulbOn; // ... } public class Microwave : IMicrowaveNotifier { private EventHandler<EventArgs> _doorClosed; event EventHandler<EventArgs> IMicrowaveNotifier.DoorClosed { add { lock (this) _doorClosed += value; } remove { lock (this) _doorClosed -= value; } } private EventHandler<EventArgs> _lightbulbOn; event EventHandler<EventArgs> IMicrowaveNotifier.LightbulbOn { add { lock (this) _lightbulbOn += value; } remove { lock (this) _lightbulbOn -= value; } } // ... } You can see that much of this is boilerplate. In Ruby I'd be able to do something like this: class Microwave has_events :door_closed, :lightbulb_on, ... end Is there a similar shorter way of removing this boilerplate in C#? Update: I left a very important part out of my example: namely, the events getting implemented are part of an interface, and I want to implement it explicitly. Sorry for not mentioning this earlier!

    I have a base class for some plugin-style stuff, and there are some methods that are absolutely required to be implemented. I currently declare those in the base class as virtual, for example public virtual void Save { throw new NotImplementedException(); } and in the descendand I have a public override void Save() { //do stuff } Is it a good practice to throw a NotImplementedException there? The descendand classes could for example be the modules for handling different file formats. Thanks

    hi I when i am trying to run virtual machine on VMW 6.5 it shows me following error. "Not enough physical memory is available to power on this virtual machine with its configured settings. To fix this problem, adjust the additional memory settings to allow more virtual machine memory to be swapped. If you were able to power on this virtual machine on this host computer in the past, try rebooting the host computer. Rebooting may allow you to use slightly more host memory to run virtual machines." i have also tried options that are suggested from above error, but still its not working. Can you help me to solve this problem? Thanks

  • Virtual Disk Degraded

    There is a physical DC with a Raid 1 Mirror, 2 Physical Disks, 500GB each. Dell Server Administrator is installed on the DC, and is reporting both physical disks are fine, online, in a good state etc. On a PERC S300 Raid Controller: Physical Disk 0:0 Physical Disk 0:1 However at the same time it's reporting that a virtual disk is degraded, what exactly does this mean? The virtual disk indicates it's State is in a Raid 1 Layout. Device Name: Windows Disk 0 If my understanding is correct then the Virtual Disk, when you drill down into Dell OpenManage should have both physical disks as members, as it is a mirror? Is this correct? However, when I drill down into the Virtual Disk, it only displays Physical Disk 0:0 included in Virtual Disk 1. I'm very new to server side/raid management etc. just while our server techy is away! Thanks!

    Is there any virtual desktop software that can virtualize desktop just like a virtual desktop to sandbox (sort of like virtualization and sandbox combined). I want to create many desktop and each of them must be sandbox. For example if I have virus infected in one of the desktop, I just have to clear or close the desktop and everything is fine. Is there any software that can do that kind of jobs that I have mentioned? Remember I am not asking recommendation of software, but the software that can do the job. UPDATE: I mean that every virtual desktop is working as a virtual box or sandbox. Clearing or closing the desktop will work as shutting down that virtual box.
