• Create DataGridView columns from Table values

  Hi, I am using data grid view to display items as excel spread sheet in VB.NET. I got a table named CostTypes with column names [CostTypeID, CostType] and values [1,External] and [2,Internal] (These are constant but more values can be added to table). I want to create columns with names of the values[External , Internal] in DataGridView. If I use databiding directly I get columns [CostTypeID,CostType] which is not what I am looking for. If some one could explain how to create columns at runtime in datagridview or how to retrieve data from data base using LINQ so that [External , Internal] turn out to be columns that would be great. • How would you create a string of all UTF-8 characters? [PHP]

  There are many ways to represent the +1 million UTF-8 characters. Take the latin capital "A" with macron (A). This is unicode code point U+0100, hex number 0xc4 0x80, decimal number 196 128, and binary 11000100 10000000. I would like to create a collection of the first 65,535 UTF-8 characters for use in testing applications. These are all unicode characters up to code point U+FFFF (byte3). Is it possible to do something like a for($x=0) loop and then convert the resulting decimal to another base (like hex) which would allow the creation of the matching unicode character? I can create the value A using something like this: $char = "\xc4\x80"; // or $char = chr(196).chr(128); However, I am not sure how to turn this into an automated process. // fail! $char = "\x". dechex($a). Is it really necessary to spell out OPTIONS in every defined route that restricts the verbs supported?

• Making OR/M loosely coupled and abstracted away from other layers.

  Hi all. In an n-tier architecture, the best place to put an object-relational mapping (OR/M) code is in the data access layer. For example, database queries and updates can be delegated to a tool like NHibernate. Yet, I'd like to keep all references to NHibernate within the data access layer and abstract dependencies away from the layers below or above it. That way, I can swap or plug in another OR/M tool (e.g. Entity Framework) or some approach (e.g. plain vanilla stored procedure calls, mock objects) without causing compile-time errors or a major overhaul of the entire application. Testability is an added bonus. Could someone please suggest a wrapper (i.e. an interface or base class) or approach that would keep OR/M loosely coupled and contained in 1 layer? Or point me to resources that would help? Thanks.

  hi All, I'm experimenting with codeigniter but don't really understand how links work. for example, I have a link like this: localhost/ci/welcome/cat/7 My base url is localhost/ci, so by clicking on this link I would expect the method "cat" of controller "welcome" to be called. This method is very simple: function cat() { echo "just a test."; } Pretty basic - I would expect to see the text on screen, but I just see a 404 -page not found error. What could be the problem?

  I want to build my program with LSB C++ Compiler from the Linux Standard Base http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/lsb. Program depends on the Boost library, built with gcc 4.4 version. Compilation fails. Is it possible to build the Boost library with LSB C++ Compiler? Alternatively, is it possible to build the Boost library with some old gcc version, what version is recommended? My final goal is to get my executable and third-party Boost libraries running on most Linux distributions. Generally, what can be done to get better binary compatibility for Linux distributions, developing C++ closed-source application depending on the Boost library?

• Java CRTP: Works for container but not for methods?

  I have a baseclass with a protected static ArrayList. I want to have a seperate ArrayList for each kind of subclass that extends this baseclass. This is when I applied CRTP: public class BaseExample<T> { protected static ArrayList<Integer> data = new ArrayList<Integer>(); } This works just fine. However, when I try to implement the following static method in the same base class, it doesn't adhere to CRTP: public static void clear() { data.clear(); } For example: class SubExample extends BaseExample<SubExample> { // insertion methods accessing 'data' field // these work fine :) } SubExample.clear(); // does not seem to clear data container Do I need to somehow explicitly specify T in my baseclass clear method? Note: These are all pure static classes.

  I currently have a abstract controller class that I all my controllers inherit from. In my master page I want to be able to access some data that will be in Session and also the currently user (IPrinciple). I read that I could use the contructor of by abstract base controller class, that is I could do something like public BaseController() { ViewData["SomeData"] = Session["SomeData"]; ViewData["UserName"] = this.User.Identity.Name; } I could then access ViewData["UserName"] etc from my master page. My problem is that both Session and User are null at this point. Does anybody know of a different approach? Thanks in advance.

• Which collation should I use to store these country names in MySQL?

  I am trying to store a list of countries in a mySQL database. I am having problems storing (non English) names like these: São Tomé and Príncipe República de El Salvador They are stored with strange characters in the db, (and therefore output strangely in my HTML pages). I have tried using different combinations of collations for the database and the MySQL connection collation: The "obvious" setting was to use utf8_unicode_ci for both the databse and the connection information. To my utter surprise, that did not solve the problem. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

• No parameterless constructor defined for this object when simply copying site

  I'm getting the above error. All I have done is copied an existing site and set-up debugging to use a different port using IISExpress in Visual Studio. Any ideas why I would suddenly get this error? Normally I get this error when StructureMap cannot for some reason resolve a dependency to inject into a controller. But this has me stumped. The code-base is the same. All I've done is copied the code into another folder!?!

But if I change the origen string to Dim origen As String = " /c /p:""c:\mis doc umentos\mis imagenes construida\archivo.txt""/cid:45 423 /z:65 /a:23 /m:39 /t:45rt " Check that the end of the file is follow by "/cid:45" whitchs makes de patter invalid, but insted of getting a mgetfile.count = 0 the program is block, if i make a debug I got a property evaluation failed.   Hi All, In my Asp.Net project I wanna use Property Auto-wiring, e.g. for my ILogger. Basically I placed Property into my base classes. One for Page, one for UserControl. I checked the container and it'a definitely set. • Why does derivative trading position always require C++ knowledge?

  I’ve never worked in trading environment before and I was curious to see that few of the trading houses seem to use C# but most of them do heavily rely on C++. Why is it? Is it because C++ is better performance wise? Is it because of legacy code base? Is it because cross platform issue? What about dynamic languages (ruby, python)? Are they too slow for this kind of work in terms of performance? Updated: If realibility and performance are important would "Erlang" be the "next big thing" in trading platform?

  When it comes to coding style I'm a pretty relaxed programmer. I'm not firmly dug into a particular coding style. I'd prefer a consistent overall style in a large code base but I'm not going to sweat every little detail of how the code is formatted. Still there are some coding styles that drive me crazy. No matter what I can't look at examples of these styles without reaching for a VIM buffer to "fix" the "problem". I can't help it. It's not even wrong, I just can't look at it for some reason. For instance the following comment style almost completely prevents me from actually being able to read the code. if (someConditional) // Comment goes here { other code } What's the most frustrating style you've encountered?

  I have load balanced web servers, that with the existing code base, handles when a user logs into the site. I would like to send a broadcast message to any applications that have subscribed saying 'hey x logged in' ? So have many web servers and many applications subscribing. How does discovery work/configuration work with nservicebus ? Should each application know about each web server and subscribe individually or is this where the distributer comes in, so web servers all send to the 1 distributer and all application subscribe to single distributer and the distributer relays the message ?   Hey, I need to select 10 products and display them. Each product has 3 different prices. The select to get the prices looks like this: SELECT * FROM products_loans WHERE CODE IN('10X15/12', '10X15/Q10-10', '10X15/Q20-10') AND 550 BETWEEN PRICE_FROM AND PRICE_TO; Where 550 is the base price. Now this select returns 3 rows, but I want to modify it so it will return 30 results. I dont like the idea to execute 10 queries at once. I know I can easily achieve that with "OR", but I would like to ask if there is some other more elegant way to this. The select "should" look like this: SELECT * FROM products_loans WHERE KOD IN('10X15/12', '10X15/Q10-10', '10X15/Q20-10') AND (550, 325, 780) BETWEEN CENA_OD AND CENA_DO; Note that there is no "price" column or anything in the table which I could use to do a JOIN and I cant modify the table.

• Known problems with filemtime() on Windows - files getting touched arbitrarily?

  Is there a known issue leading to file modification times of cache files on Windows XP SP 3 getting arbitrarily updated, but without any actual change? Is there some service on a standard Windows XP - Backup, Sync, Versioning, Virus scanner - known to touch files? They all have a .txt extension. If there isn't, forget it. Then I'm getting something wrong in my cache routines, and I'll debug my way through. Background: I'm building a simple caching wrapper around a slow web site on a Windows server. I am comparing the filemtime() time stamp to some columns in the data base to determine whether a cached file is stale. I'm having problems using this method because the modification time of the cache files seems to get updated in between operations without me doing anything. THis results in stale files being displayed. I'm the only user on the machine. The operating system is Windows XP, the webserver a XAMPP Apache 2 with PHP 5.2
