  i have a site like twitter.com on server one and on server two i have forum, which path is like domain.com/forum on server one i wanted to implement wild card dns and put main domain on it. but on server two i wanted to keep forum separate, i cant give sub-domain forum.domain.com, because all its links are already put in search engines and link back to domain.com/forum. so i was wondering, how can i put domain and wild card dns on server one and still able to give path on server 2 for domain.com/forum (as sub-folder). any ideas? do you think htaccess can do that job? if yes, then how?

  I have the following folder structure. myFolder and testFolder have same folders underneath it and I want to exclude only my1 from testFolder and not myFolder "myFolder" which has -my1 -my2 -my3 "testFolder" which has -my1 -my2 -my3 I am trying to use exclude tag along with included folders while creating a tar file. This is what i have, but it does not seem to work. tar -cvf base.tar "/sam/myFolder" "/sam/testFolder" --exclude="/sam/testFolder/my1" I want to exclude my1 from testFolder and not myFolder. can you please suggest a possible solution.

  I am creating a website, and have a tabbed horizontal menu. In order to cut back on the number of files I have to edit when I have to make changes to the menu I want to put the navigation in a separate file that I can call using a PHP include statement. When I do this, however, the nav disappears entirely from the page. The rest of the content remains, and there are no error messages. I have been looking for answers for this for weeks, and have tried every version of the PHP include statement that I could find. None of them worked. This was the last attempt. I have the file "nav.php" in a folder named "includes" in a main dir called "testsite" I use Windows XP, use NotePad++ as my text editor, and have been testing in Firefox. I can't find an answer anywhere - any help would be appreciated. Lorianna

  I keep my source html (and images etc.) in separate directories for source control. Part of making the distro is to have make copy files to output folder and set the attributes. Today my makefile shows (extract): %.html: /usr/bin/install -c -p -m 644 $< $@ www: $(HTMLDST)/firmware.html $(HTMLDST)/firmware_status.html $(HTMLDST)/index.html $(HTMLDST)/firmware.html: $(HTMLSRC)/firmware.html $(HTMLDST)/firmware_status.html: $(HTMLSRC)/firmware_status.html $(HTMLDST)/index.html: $(HTMLSRC)/index.html This is shown with only three html files, but in reality, there are lots.   I have a huge website (containing around 5000+) pages. There is a theme functionality in the website where user can choose different colors for their profile. Now i want to use the ASP.net theme feature and put different CSS (for different colors) in the theme folder and in Global.asax i want check the user theme and render appropriate link element with the css. But my problem is, i am not able to access the Page element for adding the link in the page. Here is my code Dim page As System.Web.UI.Page = TryCast(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Handler,System.Web.UI.Page) page.StyleSheetTheme = "Black" But when i run this code I get a Null reference error. P.s : My application is very huge so its not possible to have a master page or a base class and inherit it in every page. Please suggest.

  If I run a package from the Management Studio, and specify a configuration file, everything works as expected. However if I try and run the package from the command prompt with DTExec I get the error: Cannot load the XML configuration file. The XML configuration file may be malformed or not valid. The command I'm using to execute the package is: dtexec /conf ConfigurationDemo.dtsConfig /f Package.dtsx I am running the dtexec from the folder where these two files reside. Is there an addtional switch or something that must used to get dtexec to behave the same was at the management Stduio in launching a package?

  I cloned a project from github over to my desktop. I used to work on it form my laptop. However, on laptop heroku does not seem to work for this app eventhough i have it installed. First problem: heroku open >No app specified. >Run this command from app folder or set it adding --app <app name> I did not have to specify the --app on my laptop. Because I guess I did command heroku create initially on the lapop. Second Probelm: git push heroku master gives errors fatal: 'heroku' does not appear to be a git repository fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly and heroku list says ! This version of the heroku gem has been deprecated. ! Please update it by running: gem update heroku

• Cannot install xdebug with WAMP SERVER 2.1

  Hi all, I use WAMP SERVER 2.1 and select PHP 5.3.3 for my system, so I select xDebug with php_xdebug-2.1.0-5.3-vc6.dll and changed name becoming php_xdebug.dll for easy way to use. Following the instructions: php.ini (in Apache folder) extension=php_xdebug.dll ... zend_extension = "C:/wamp/bin/php/php5.3.3/ext/php_xdebug.dll" xdebug.remote_enable=on xdebug.remote_handler=dbgp xdebug.remote_host=localhost xdebug.remote_port=9000 xdebug.idekey="netbeans-xdebug" However, nothing happens, there are no information related to xdebug from phpinfo. Also xdebug announce that xdebug have not installed yet (http://xdebug.org/find-binary.php). I am so worried causing too much time for configuration. I got crazy and totally gave up. • How do I prevent Eclipse from hanging on startup?

  I am using Eclipse 3.3 ("Europa"). Periodically, Eclipse takes an inordinately long time (perhaps forever) to start up. The only thing I can see in the Eclipse log is: !ENTRY org.eclipse.core.resources 2 10035 2008-10-16 09:47:34.801 !MESSAGE The workspace exited with unsaved changes in the previous session; refreshing workspace to recover changes. Googling reveals someone's suggestion that I remove the folder: workspace\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources\.root\.indexes This does not appear to have helped. Short of starting with a new workspace (something which I am not keen to do, as it takes me hours to set up all my projects again properly), is there a way to make Eclipse start up properly?

  Hey Guys & Gals, I recently moved my WordPress website to a subfolder. I want to add a redirect in the .htaccess file so that the links to images I've uploaded originally to ~/wp-content/uploads/ will pass to ~/blog/wp-content/uploads. The .htaccess file must remain in the root folder for WordPress to read it properly. This is what I tried Redirect /wp-content/uploads/ /blog/wp-content/uploads That worked great, except I host other domains on this account, and all of the other domain's upload folders were being redirected in a similar manner. Is there a way to restrict this redirect to just one domain? So that example.com/wp-content/uploads redirects to example.com/blog/wp-content/uploads, but another.com/wp-content/uploads does not? • Do I really need cmake for build automation?

  I'm currently investigating cmake to allow automatic building on the Win32 platform. For all runtimes and libraries I'd like to build, Visual Studio (2008/2010) projects do allready exist. I've come across cmake, but I'm unsure if I really need it. As the documentation says, cmake generates VS projects and they then can be built e.g. using MSBuild. As the projects itself allready do exist (and build nicely via the IDE or MSBuild on the cmd line), what do I need and use cmake for? Just for directory/project folder traversal?   Hello, is there any way I can add some files in the deployment process so they get copied in the installation? I need an xml file that has some data that the application needs, I tried every option in the build action for the file but nothing works, the application always crashes after the installation. Also, I'd like the program to be installed under the Program Files directory. The folder where VS Express installs it it's weird some C:\Users\Carlo\Temp\Applications\weirdnumbers9231FFC231\ directory, and I don't want that either. Thanks in advance!

• TortoiseSVN 1.6.8 missing repository browser in Branch/Tag "To URL" dialog?

  It seems that in TortoiseSVN 1.6.8 (on Windows), when you click the "To URL..." button in the Branch/Tag dialog, it now pops up a generic "browse for folders" dialog. It used to pop up a Repository Browser. Displaying a regular folder browser isn't much use, since you can't navigate to any of the tags/branches via the file system. Does anyone know if this is a regression or a deliberate change? Any possible workarounds (other than reverting to 1.6.7, which works fine)? Notes: I am running a repository on the local file system, which may yield different results to one going across a network. I'm definitely using an FSFS repository, so changes to BDB access via file:/// shouldn't apply. • UIImagepickerController strange bug

  Hi, I'm doing something with UIImagePickerController. It works fine and the Picture browser does open, however, I get this message. "Failed to save the videos metadata to the filesystem. Maybe the information did not conform to a plist." What could be causing that?   What I have done is I have taken the class-files from my eclipse project and run them trough an optimizer/obfuscator. So I now have optimized class-files that I want to get in the form of an apk so I can sign and publish it. However, I am lost on how to do this. I guess I cant just copy them into the bin-folder of my eclipse-project, because eclipse would just overwrite them with a new compilation when I try to export a signed apk.   This is more a curiosity than necessity question. I've just installed nokogiri again with RubyGems and it is saying "WARNING: Nokogiri was built against LibXML version 2.7.5, but has dynamically loaded 2.7.6" This is easy enough to fix, but it lead to a more general question: how do I see all the configuration options for a rubygem before installing it? I found the easiest way I know how is to visit the gem folder an run "ruby nokogiri-0.0.0/ext/nokogiri/extconf.rb -h" and that shows me it, but there has to be an easier way, right? I was expecting some kind of "sudo gem install nokogiri -- --help" command that would show the build flags. I've searched around a bit but didn't see anything, anybody know how to do this before I go digging into RG's source :)?

  I have a bunch of long-running scripts and applications that are storing output results in a directory shared amongst a few users. I would like a way to make sure that every file and directory created under this shared directory automatically had u=rwxg=rwxo=r permissions. I know that I could use umask 006 at the head off my various scripts, but I don't like that approach as many users write their own scripts and may forget to set the umask themselves. I really just want the filesystem to set newly created files and directories with a certain permission if it is in a certain folder. Is this at all possible? Update: I think it can be done with POSIX ACLs, using the Default ACL functionality, but it's all a bit over my head at the moment. If anybody can explain how to use Default ACLs it would probably answer this question nicely.

• Selective PHP autoload

  I am writing a add-on module which is integrated with an existing PHP application; Because I am using a MVC pattern, and which may requires lot of inclusion of classes (which might not be used at all depending on the action of the user), I decide to use autoloading of classes. However, I have to ensure that the autoload function does not interferes with the normal operations of the existing applications. Does autoload only kicks in if a class name is not defined? Say I have to write another module which uses its own autoload functions (say, I have an autoload for a module, since they each reside in their own folder), how do I differentiate which module is it for? For #2, I thought of 2 options. Either prefix the class name with the module name (Such as 'MyNewModule_View_Default' and 'AnotherModule_View_Default'), or use file_exists to check the include file exists. Other suggestions are welcomed too!

• Unix file naming convention for effective tab completion?

  I feel like I often name files in such a way that my computer constantly beeps while I program because the tab completion is ambiguous. Before doing a lot of Unix programming, I tended to name related files with the same prefix to indicate their relation. Now I must re-think my approach to folder and file structures and names to program more effectively. What heuristics or rules do you apply when programming to simplify tab completion? Do you use any tools to make tab completion smoother (e.g., emacs icicles)?
