• Starting synergy automatically on RHEL/CentOS

  I have a Red Had Enterprise Linux 5 and a CentOS 5 box, both of which I am trying to configure to automatically connect to a synergy server on startup. I have followed the guide at http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/autostart.html and configured them the same way I configured previous Ubuntu 7.10 boxes, and this only seems to get me half way there. Currently, synergy connects at the login screen, but once I login, it doesn't come back up. I added the following lines to /etc/gdm/{Init,PostLogin,PreSession}/Default : /usr/bin/killall synergyc sleep 1 /usr/bin/synergyc fried-chicken # Init,PreSession only All files are owned by root:root with 755 permissions, I'm just not sure what I'm missing here.

• BlazeDS rejected connection from some IP address

  Hi, I'm using the BlazeDS binary version with Apache tomcat 6.0. And it seems there's a developer mode active and it only allows 3 IPs to connect to the application (Server). This is what the log says: [BlazeDS]MessageBroker '__default__' rejected connection from address 'xxx.xxx.xx.x'; Developer mode addresses already in use: xxx.x.xxx.xx, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, xx.xxx.xxx.xx (IP addresses are masked with 'x' for privacy) I have not added any special configuration to make developer mode active. I couldn't find any resources related to this scenario either. Please help. Thanks in Advance.

• Adding a new view to a Window-based app (re: MapKit tutorial)

  I'm trying add a new view in a window-based application but not really getting anywhere. I've been going through a great MapKit tutorial lately, http://mithin.in/2009/06/22/using-iphone-sdk-mapkit-framework-a-tutorial/ and have successfully set it up and added some further buttons and customizations. However I've gotten stuck at what I assume ought to be a brain-dead simple step. I have added a toolbar to the bottom of the app, and a 'settings' style button. Following this I created a SettingsViewController complete with it's own view. Now I'd like to connect them but I've had absolutely no luck trying to figure out how to do this. I've also gone through several other good tutorials lately, http://miketeo.net/wp/index.php/2008/08/31/simple-iphone-tutorial-part-1.html http://blog.webscale.co.in/?p=228 http://www.iphonesdkarticles.com/2009/01/uitableview-searching-table-view.html but I've gotten lost trying to tie these two bits together. This query should return two rows as it does on Oracle 9i, but results ORA-01476: divisor is equal to zero on Oracle 11g EE 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit. Can anyone help? Thanks!

  Hi, I will be developing an application for a club where they will have visitors use biometric systems(finger print) or magnetic cards to mark their attendance. This application is planned as a web app, made using PHP/MySQL/Javascript. It does a lot of other things as well. What I wanted to find out is how is the interface between Biometric/Megnetic Card systems to a web app done? I've never worked on this and am hoping if someone who has experience with this can throw some light on this as to how this could be accomplished. Any pointers will be appreciated. (I'm afraid there's got to be some form of application installed on a pc that would interface with the hardware and probably makes calls to the web app. But, if there was a way to connect it to the web app directly, then the app would be easy to deploy to any location with minimal installation.) • Custom http service responds fine to local IP address but NOT to localhost or 127.0.0.1

  I'm trying to connect to a custom http service written by another developer. The service responds fine on a local IP address and port number. Such as: http://10.1.1.1:1234 but it does NOT respond to http://localhost:1234 or http://127.0.0.1:1234 The service is a simple single function application written in VC++ that takes an http post string and returns another string. I'm trying to all it from C# using HttpWebRequest.GetResponse, but I can reproduce the same problem manually from a web browser... Test environment is Windows 2008 Server. Bottom line I'm looking for some troubleshooting tips to help the other developer fix his code.

• How can I make an expect script prompt for a password?

  I have an expect script that connects to a few routers through ssh. All these routers have the same password (I know, it's wrong), and the script needs to know that password in order to be able to connect to the routers. Currently, the password is passed to my script as an argument on the command line, but this means that there's a trace of that password in my .bash_history file as well as in the running processes. So instead I would like the user to be prompted for a password, if possible silently. Do you know whether or not it's possible to prompt the user for a password with expect? Thank you. Edit: if I was connecting to servers instead of routers, I would probably use ssh keys instead of passwords. But the routers I'm using just support passwords.

• Can't correctly stream x264 video to mobile via RTSP

  Hello! I'm trying to stream video compressed with x264 and NeroAAC and hinted with MP4Box. When i'm playing it with VLC player streaming works fine, as expected. When i'm trying to open URL with my HTC Hero, it switches to player mode, then starts "loading video" animation, then after some time it shows "unable to connect to server". Sample movies provided with DSS streamed fine regardless bitrate. I tried few encoding options, but always the same result. I suspect nocabac and level=11 but it didn't changed nothing. Is there some more specific encoding options for such type? Thank You!

Now, the script would install an application on Machine_B from Machine_A, it works fine as long as you have the msi file on the local drive of the Target machine (Machine_B, in this case). • Good workflow with emacs+swank+slime+clojure?

  I just wanted opinion on good workflow using the emacs environment with clojure+swank+slime. I often find myself doing very repetitive keycommands and wonder if there is an obvious better way. I include swank with lein and start my project using lein swank from shell. Then I connect with emacs and do the correct use commands so that I can start to use (run-tests ). Then I do some coding and then want to test. To run the test I need to change buffer in emacs to the swank-repl C-x o, then I need to go to the prompt M-, then repeat the command M-p, then enter, maybe with an exception, then back to the code buffer and continue all over again with all the emacs commands. I find it a bit repetitive. I guess the solution would be to start hack on emacs and maybe add a shortcut for doing this repetitive task, but I would love to hear some suggestions because I can't be the only one who find this tedious?

• C# Proxy, what is the best way to do this?

  I'm writing a proxy using .NET and C#. It has a couple of functions that it needs to fulfill. I haven't done much Socket programming, and I am not sure the best way to go about it. Should I use Synchronous Sockets, Asynchronous sockets? Please help! It must... Accept Connections from the client on two different ports, and be able to receive data on both ports at the same time. When a connection is made on a port, it must immediately connect to the server, and start sending data as it receives it from the client to the server. Packets must be forwarded in the order they are received, exactly as they were received. It needs to be as low latency as possible. I don't need the ability for multiple clients to use the proxy, but it would be a nice feature if its easy to implement.

  I've been trying to diagnose this for some time, and unfortunately Im still getting the dreaded anonymous logon issue when trying to connect to a sql db as a domain user. Steps taken: App Pool created with delegation service acct Site / Virtual dir running with Integrated Windows auth only Made sure site itself can use kerberos KB 215383 Service acct added to IIS_WPG group Service acct added to "act as part of operating system" under Local Security settings Service acct added to Log on as service under Local Security Settings HTTP SPN set for web address + service account (and FQDN) MSSQLSvc SPN set for sql box and domain acct sql is running as Trust for delegation turned on service acct, specified services, and sql service acct After all this, Im still getting the exact same error from when I started. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. This has advanced my balding by at least 5 years so far. I would greatly appreciate any additional tips on diagnosing or setting up.

• Implementing a 'Send Feedback' feature in a Java desktop application

  I would like to implement a 'Send Feedback' option in a Java desktop application. One which will pop up a box for the user to enter a comment, then send it to us along with a screenshot of the application window. How would be the best way to communicate the data to us? Two obvious solutions spring to mind: Email - I'm thinking that the application would connect to an SMTP server set-up by us, with the username/password somehow hidden in the code. SMTP over SSL for security (not of the data being sent, but of the SMTP username/password). Web service - pretty self explanatory. Which of these would be best, or is there a better alternative?

  Steve Jobs just posted this article on why Apple rejects Flash... http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ I agree that javascript and css can be used to replicate some of Flash's animation, though Flash does all sorts of scaling and tweening that is incredibly powerful, and I'm not sure that there's anything comparable in javascript, if there is, I certainly haven't seen it. However, my question is about the socket. Flash has an incredibly powerful openSocket class that allows you to connect to a server and have the server and the client talk back and forth to one another. As far as I know there is no equivalent class in Javascript. Am I mistaken? Is there some secret mystery Ajax class that replicates the openSocket? If not, then that feature alone makes Flash an invaluable tool. I'm interested in all answers though... and yes this IS a programming question! :)

• Disabling mouse movement and clicks altogether in c#

  At work, i'm a trainer. I'm setting up lessons to teach people how to "do stuff" without a mouse... Ever seen people click "login" textbox, type, take the mouse, click "password", type their password, then take the mouse again to click the "connect" button beneath ? So i'll teach them how to do all that without a mouse (among many other things, of course) At the end of the course, i'll make them pass a sort of exam. So i'm building a little wizard based app in which i present some simili-real-life examples of forms to fill in, but i want to disable their mouse programatically while they do this test. However, further in the wizard, i'll have to let them use their mouse again. Is there a -- possibly easy -- way to just disable the mouse for a while, and re-enable it later on? I'm on C# 2.0, programming under VC# 2k5, if that matters

In OPR domain the CCRC server is hosted, users accessing from BDC domain can able to connect to CCRC and list the vob....and also able to join the project. To perform any checkout/checkin/loading resources it is taking long time and after a day it is in same state.Connectivity is fine to OPR domain from BDC domain ( ping & tracrt is working fine) .   We've started using the ASP.NET recaptcha control and it works fine. but one of the requirements we have is that all outbound traffic goes over Https. I know that recaptcha supports https, but It's not clear how to configure (or even if it is configurable) when using the ASP.NET plugin option. has anyone got any experience of this? I'll expand a little on what I've found so far.... The Recaptcha package contains 3 public classes RecaptchaControl, RecaptchaValidator and RecaptchaResponse RecaptchaControl is an Asp.NET control, the recaptcha specific methods on there seem to be concerning themes/look and feel. An instance of the Validator has a RemoteIP field (which I presume would represent the verification server), but I can't a way of binding that to the control. RecaptchaResponse seems to more or less represent an enum with possible responses (valid/invalid/failed to connect).

  1) a) I assume roles are cached ( by setting Roles.CacheRolesInCookie ) only for current user? b) Besides Roles.GetRolesForUser(_currentUser), are there any other methods that will read role information for current user from role cookie and thus won’t have to connect to the data base? 2) a) I assume that normally role cookie gets updated only when current user is added or removed from the role(s) or when the cookie expires? b) Because role names can be cached apart from the data source, it is possible that changes to role management at the data source would not be reflected in the cached values. In this case, the user must close and re-open their browser to clear the cached cookie value. How exactly could role cookie get cached apart from the data source? 3) If the number of roles cached in a role cookie equals the value of Roles.MaxCachedResults, then I assume when Roles.GetRolesForUser (_currentuser) gets called, it will need to check the DB to see whether user is also a member of any additional roles? thanx
