• Adding a SVN repository in Eclipse

  I'm trying to add an svn repository to eclipse. I've installed subclipse, and it seems to be working fine. But, when I try to "add a new SVN repository", I input this, for example: http://svn.python.org/projects/peps/trunk I get this: Error validating location: "org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: RA layer request failed svn: OPTIONS of 'http://svn.python.org/projects/peps/trunk': could not connect to server (http://svn.python.org) " Keep location anyway? I know that my eclipse can connect to the 'net because I downloaded subclipse earlier (I had to change my proxy settings). I get a similar message for other SVN locations I've tried to add. Anyone have any solutions?

• Getting Windows XP colours in .NET

  I am trying to get a specific colour used by Windows XP in my .NET application. In Windows XP, if you go the Control Panel in 'category view', on the left hand side you have some 'See Also' options (Windows Update, Help and Support, Other Control Panel Options). The colour I'm trying to get is the light blue background colour shown behind these options. I don't need the hex/RGB value of the colour, as it can change depending on the style settings used on the desktop. My question is - is it possible to programmatically get hold of this colour in a .NET app? The colour doesn't appear to be in SystemColors, although it's very similar to SystemColors.InactiveCaptionText (and I think I can probably get away with using this). I'm just wondering if there is a way to get hold of the exact colour.

  Hi All, I am using flurry in my app, and I am new to that. I have some doubts. My requirement is, In my main activity I will start a session, and calling onevent method in some activities. And I am not calling endSeesion method anywhere. I want to know when the FlurryAgent will hit the flurry site. So do I need to call endSession then where should I call that method? How FlurryAgent maintains the session. In case if I call like this FlurryAgent.onEndSession(this); FlurryAgent.onStartSession(this, Constants.FLURRY_API); FlurryAgent.setLogEnabled(true); will it work like this - previous session will be closed and new session will be started. I can track only http urls using fiddler, when I try to track https calls then its getting crashed, I have modified ssl settings in fiddler, I dont know how to configure my emulator. • UTF-8 xml file shows Gibberish

  I have a UTF-8 encoded xml file, which was exported from a Wordpress MySQL database. While the file is saved as UTF-8, and the encoding is UTF-8, I get gibberish instead of the Hebrew text that is supposed to be in there, which looks like this: ™×•×˜×•×ª How can I find the original encoding or charset and convert the text into proper Hebrew? PHP's mb_detect_encoding($str); returns UTF-8 Tried all sorts of php encoding functions, with different settings and input/output charsets, but they all just print different looking gibberish blocks, like: ÃâÃËÃâ¢Ãâ¢ÃËà and ?? ××©×ž× ...Any Ideas how to go about this?

• Why is memory management so visible in Java VM?

  I'm playing around with writing some simple Spring-based web apps and deploying them to Tomcat. Almost immediately, I run into the need to customize the Tomcat's JVM settings with -XX:MaxPermSize (and -Xmx and -Xms); without this, the server easily runs out of PermGen space. Why is this such an issue for Java VMs compared to other garbage collected languages? Comparing counts of "tune X memory usage" for X in Java, Ruby, Perl and Python, shows that Java has easily an order of magnitude more hits in Google than the other languages combined. I'd also be interested in references to technical papers/blog-posts/etc explaining design choices behind JVM GC implementations, across different JVMs or compared to other interpreted language VMs (e.g. comparing Sun or IBM JVM to Parrot). Are there technical reasons why JVM users still have to deal with non-auto-tuning heap/permgen sizes?

  I am using Google Calendar as a storage engine for a calendar system I am building, however, I am using a single Google user account with multiple calendars, i.e. each user on my system has their own calendar within the one user account. I'm able to create a calendar per user just fine, but I would like to have FullCalendar retrieve the events for display purposes, without manually getting the magic cookie url from Google Calendar settings. • Click Once doesn't create StartMenu entry and Shortcut on Windows 7 x64

  I've application that I deploy to share with ClickOnce so other users can install it and use it on their own machines. It worked fine till i noticed that when i install this app on my own machine (Windows 7 x 64) it doesn't add StartMenu (even thou it installs correctly and I have it in Control Panel / Programs). I didn't had that problem when my development machine was Windows XP. Application also deploys fine on other Windows XP computers. Also during installation (when i rerun setup) even thou I already have Net Framework 3.5 it always wants to install one (it starts that and terminates few seconds later - probably installer sees that it's already there). I can run application straigit from share just a bit of pain to do it. Are there some special settings I should do? Or some patches? I have Visual Studio 2008 and system with all optional updates installed. Application is written in C# and uses NET 3.5.

• NHibernate: uninitialized proxy passed to save() and cascade

  Hi, I keep getting an NHibernate.PersistentObjectException when calling session.Save() which is due to an uninitialized proxy passed to save(). If I fiddle with my cascade settings I can make it go away, but then child objects aren't being saved. The only other fix I have found is by adding the following to my DefaultSaveEventListener. protected override bool ReassociateIfUninitializedProxy(object obj, global::NHibernate.Engine.ISessionImplementor source) { if (!NHibernateUtil.IsInitialized(obj)) NHibernateUtil.Initialize(obj); return base.ReassociateIfUninitializedProxy(obj, source); } This is obviously not an ideal solution. • Intermec PF8t printer - print output with wrong orientation

  I am using an Intermec PF8t for label printing. My labels are the size of 40mm(width) and 20mm (height) and they are rendered in a crystal report from where I print them dynamically. The problem is that no matter what the page orientation I specify either in crystal report or in printer settings, the result is printed vertically(i.e. my output gets rotated by 90 degrees) whereas I want it to print horizontally (as in normal left to right printing) . Strangely, when I print the label at design time, everything prints as it should. One important thing to mention is that i print my label report programmatically using crystal reprot's PrintToPrinter() method. Any ideas... I have pretty much exhausted all the information available at intermec's portal but to no avail.

• Django-allauth redirected to connections

• How do I get meaningful error messages in IIS7?

  I have a classic ASP website that is crashing in IIS7. It is crashing because IIS doesn't allow file uploads greater than a certain size. I know this because files below about 200k work fine. I removed the Status Code 500 error in IIS but I still don't get a file name and the line where my code failed as I do when running locally. Instead I get: "The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred. If you are the system administrator please click here to find out more about this error." How do I get a file name and the line where my code failed? Here are my IIS settings:

• Unreachable code detected by using const variables

Is there a good way to have just one variable being constant, deriving the other from it, but not resulting in an unreachable code warning? Note that I need both values, on start of the camera it needs to be configured to the proper Pixel Format, and my image understanding code needs to know how many bits the image is in. So, is there a good workaround, or do I just live with this warning?

• Tortoise SVN Icon Overlays Displaying Everywhere...Why?

  Update: So, this turns out to have nothing to do with Tortoise SVN. I use Mozy.com for off-site backups and their new version includes these icon overlays. They can be disabled via the config options...or see here http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?p=1385433. Thanks @OS for the answer. Been using Tortoise SVN for some time on my Vista box. Within the last few days (and after recently upgrading to 1.5.4) the icon overlays are displaying on all files. My exclude path is: * My include paths are: C:\Users\jw\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\SVNProjects* C:\Users\jw\Documents\VB Projects\SVNProjects* I haven't touched those settings in months. Any ideas? Help. Thanks.

• J2ME TextField Exception

  When I instantiate a textField, I have a number in it that I want to be the default text. The problem is, I can't seem to be able to place that value into the textfield without getting an error. The strange thing about it is that the same TextField is what I use to set the value of the variable containing the number. TextField myTF = new TextField("Number", value, 10, TextField.NUMERIC); When I run this code, I receive an exception stating that value doesn't match the constraints of TextField.NUMERIC. However, when I check the vale of the value of the variable, I get the following output: value = 1234567890 value.length() = 10 The value is set by the same TextField, saved to the phone that I am working on, and when loaded from the phone's settings, throws an exception.

• Custom tool error: Command.proto:11:18: "Message2" is not defined.

  I am using the latest version of protobuf-net with VS2008 integration. I have created 2 messages (Message1 and Message2), 1 message in 1 proto file. When I try to reference Message2 in Message1 the code generator tool gives me error "Message2" is not defined and won't generate the code file. The package for both messages is same. It look like that because of the integration of the tool with VS2008 it expects all the messages in same .proto file to compile. Currently I have to paste an empty message with same name in Message1.proto file, like this: message Message1 { optional Message2 message2 = 1; } message Message2 { } And then later on remove the declaration of class Message2 from Message1.cs. Are there any settings that I need to do so to avoid this error, or is providing an empty declaration the only way?

  Hi all, I'm trying to use the StoreKit API in OS3.0 for the iphone to do in app purchase. However, I'm getting the following error when trying to purchase something in the SANDBOX ENVIRONMENT. The item you tried to buy is no longer available [Environment: Sandbox] Here's the code I use to do the payments: SKPayment* payment = [SKPayment paymentWithProductIdentifier:model.productId]; [[SKPaymentQueue defaultQueue] addPayment:payment]; I've also queried storekit for the list of available products and that seems to work just fine returning the same product identifiers that I'm now using to purchase the item. I have all the products setup in iTunes Connect and created a test user. Before debugging the app I signed out of the store in the settings menu and entered my test account and password when debugging my own app. What could be going on here?

• Blackberry: Simulator stuck up launching through JDE 5.x

  Hi, When i try to build my project in Blackberry JDE 5.0.0.25. It built successfully. And then when i click on Debug menu "Go" button, simulator is launching and stuck up lanching itself forever, does't come up the simulator screen normally and visible with apps showing. When i built the same project in Blackberry JDE 4.7, it built successfully and then click on "Go", launched the simulator normally and showed the app to play with it. Could someone guide me what should be problem? Do i need to set any settings specific to BB JDE 5.x? I have just the basic hello world empty screen in my project, so don't provide any code here. I'm a bit concerned about that the user could place arbitrary strings in the url after the upload/ and this is directly mapped to the local filesystem. • App only spawns one thread

• Reporting services genius only: a fast way to get Reporting Services local site working?

  Hello I was here trying to figure out why my Reports manager is empty, there's no tabs at all. I installed SQL Server 2008 complete, but didn't not configure Reporting Services. When installing SQL Server 2008, this Windows 7 version didn't have yet IIS installed, I installed it later. I don't see where is this localhost/Reports physically on my Hard Drive, where is the physic folder? I don't see on IIS where is Report folder, would it exist? The site settings people talk about, I can't find it. The "Reporting Services" service is running on automatic at SQL Server Configuration Manager. How can I get Reporting Services this working without struggling? (I can't see why is necessary to customize all these user permissions)

• C#: standard Windows menu bars in Windows Forms

  I noticed that adding a MenuStrip (from the VS Toolbox) to my form design doesn't yield a menu bar like many native Windows applications. Instead I get a menu bar like VS's own. None of the style settings for MenuStrip appear to mimic the much more common native menu bar. Is there a way to add a menu bar to my Windows Forms application that looks the same as the one you see in Notepad, Task Manager, Windows Explorer and others? (Preferably with the designer, but I wouldn't mind adding it programmatically either.)

• New NCover 3.4.2 makes all my MSTest unit tests fail

  Yesterday, I decided to install the newest NCover version (3.4.2). However, when I ran it on my existing .ncover configuration file, the NCover output suddenly reported that all my MSTest tests failed. Of course those tests succeed when ran within Visual Studio. Because of this, NCover isn't able to determine any coverage. Somehow the old configuration doesn't seem to work with the new version. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be or how to solve it? Btw. Here is my ncover configuration.   I'm getting this error message "The Maximum string content length quota (8192) has been exceeded while reading XML data. This quotea may be increased by changing the MaxStringContentLength property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader" In the one of my orchestrations that consumes a wcf webservice (stacktrace indicates the receive shape is where the issue is), It is likely that the response is very large. looking at some of the other questions with this error message the solution is to change a WCF bindings setting in the configuration file. However I can't find these configuration settings when I'm using biztalk. They don't seem to be generated anywhere, should I be trying to add them to BTSNTSVc.exe.config. Any suggestions welcome.

• Why is Visual Studio 2008 slow with Firefox?

  I am using Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express. I've made an ASP.NET MVC site which has 6 CSS files and 6 Javascript files in the HEAD element in the Site.Master file. When I do F5 or CTRL-F5 in Explorer or Opera, the site displays instantly. When I run my site in Firefox, it takes a SECOND for each CSS and each Javascript file on LOCALHOST, i.e. 12 seconds to load on localhost. What might I be able to change in the Firefox settings so it is as fast as Opera and Explorer? NEW INFO: Uninstalled Firebug completely, no yslow, no other add-ons. When I take out the CSS and Javascript files, then Firefox is as fast as the other browsers. What could be taking it so long on a local connection?
