  • Android Timer update UI between multiple tasks

    - by Rilcon42
    I have tried multiple ways to have a single persistent timer update the ui in multiple activities, and nothing seems to work. I have tried an AsyncTask, a Handler, and a CountDownTimer. The code below does not execute the first Log.i statement.... Is there a better way to start the timer (which must be called from another class) in Main (which is the only persistent class)? public static void MainLawTimer() { MainActivity.lawTimer = new CountDownTimer(MainActivity.timeLeft, 1000) { public void onTick(long millisUntilFinished) { Log.i("aaa","Timer running. Time left: "+MainActivity.timeLeft); MainActivity.timeLeft--; if(MainActivity.timeLeft<=0) { //do stuff } else { //call method in another class } }

  • jquery insert a html block so it starts before the target and ends after the target - is this possib

    - by Chris
Hi all, I understand you can add insert blocks of html before and after a target using before(), insertBefore(), after() and insertAfter(). I tried to do something similar to this <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("p").before("<div class='myContainer'>"); $("p").after("</div>"); }); </script> <p>paragraph</p> But the inject seems to automatically create closing tags for me, is there a way around this? Cheers

  • Make jQuery AJAX have a non-javascript (non-ajax) fallback?

    - by DrAgonmoray
I've gotten a fair amount of work done on my latest project, but I've realized there's a bit of a problem: If you don't have a Javascript-enabled browser, you can't submit any forms because every form uses AJAX to submit it. My question to you all: How can I implement some sort of "fallback" so that if they don't have Javascript enabled, they can still submit the form. Currently I have a banner along the header that says "For the optimal (and by "optimal," we mean "actually working") experience, please enable Javascript in your browser." but that seems like less than the optimal solution. Thanks!

  • contents().find() not producing the same result as changing selector context? - jQuery

    - by Alex
Hello all, I have a function that looks somewhat like this: function(domObj) { var currentObj = $(domObj); ... currentObj.contents().find(".ws").after("foobar"); } My problem is that the above method of using .contents().find() is not working. "foobar" never gets stuffed after the specified dom element, represented by the selector, .ws However if I do this: $(".ws", currentObj).after("foobar"); Then the string, "foobar" gets appended every time. My question: Are not these two methods supposed to be equivilant? How/what am I doing wrong in my use of .contents().find() so that it is not working? Thanks!

  • jQuery plugins: How can I stop divs from overlapping?

    - by anir
I'm using Masonry and Embedly plugin to display embedded content, I've put together an example in jsfiddle.net/anir/pBtbb/3/ It appears the Masonry plugin loads first and it causes the overlapping problem (they only show correctly when you resize the result window) I've read that I could use callback functions or retrigger Masonry once embedly has finished rendering content, but I don't know how to do it. Can you help me? Is there any other solution to fix this?

  • why does the data property in an jquery ajax call override my return false?

    - by user315709
hi, i have the following block of code: $("#contact_container form, #contact_details form").live( "submit", function(event) { $.ajax({ type: this.method, url: this.action, data: this.serialize(), success: function(data) { data = $(data).find("#content"); $("#contact_details").html(data); }, }); return false; } ; when i leave out the data: this.serialize(), it behaves properly and displays the response within the #contact_details div. however, when i leave it in, it submits the form, causing the page to navigate away. why does the presence of the data attribute negates the return false? (probably due to a bug that i can't spot...) also, is the syntax to my find statement correct? it comes back as "undefined" even though i use a debugger to check the ajax response and that id does exists. thanks, steve

  • Javascript, jQuery - how signed actions to just created object?

    - by sebap123
I am trying to make simple list with ability to add and delete elements. For now I am working on adding and performing a simple action on each of list elements object (existing and added). Unfortunately I have met some difficulties with that. I am able to modify objects that are created at the beginning, but not one added during "webpage working". First of all my idea was to add AJAX to this, but I don't think it is the easiest way. I think that some time ago (I don't remember where) I read how to make this work, but now I don't know. I would be really glad if someone would help me with this or at least give a link to good explanation of this. There is what I have done so far (well this is mostly just a scratch, but the main idea is in it): http://jsfiddle.net/sebap123/pAZ7H/ Thank you for all responses.

  • How do I use JQuery to do this? (Loop through the classes)

    - by alex
    Suppose my code is like this: <td class="apple"> <div class="worm"> text1 </div> </td> <td class="apple"> <div class="worm"> text2 </div> </td> <td class="apple"> <div class="worm"> text3 </div> </td> How can I loop through everything with "tr class apple", and then grab the text of the div inside with id "worm", and then set each of the .attr() as that text? Result: <td class="apple" title="text1"> <div class="worm"> text1 </div> </td> <td class="apple" title="text2" > <div class="worm"> text2 </div> </td> <td class="apple" title="text3"> <div class="worm"> text3 </div> </td> Thank you

  • How can I dynamically resize the jQuery Colorbox plugin?

    - by James Skidmore
The AJAX content loaded in a Colorbox has some JavaScript included that resizes things within the content. Colorbox determines its sizing based on the sizes before all of the AJAX happens. How can I make the Colorbox resize after the content has been loaded? Here is a link where someone said that you can call colorbox() again after it's been loaded, but I can't figure out how to do that: http://groups.google.com/group/colorbox/browse_thread/thread/535d21c69e9006b0

  • why doesn't focus() work in the following line of jquery?

    - by jela
The following code is intended to check if 4 numbers are entered in the blurred field. If not, the field value is deleted, and the field is focused. The deletion works fine, but the the call to focus() does not work. $('input.dateValue').live('blur',function(event){ if (!(/(\d){4}$/.test($(this).attr('value')))) $(this).attr('value','').focus(); }); Why does the call to focus() not focus the field?

  • javascript|jquery|ajax|etc.. How to download/read only first 80KB of file.

    - by DeusAphor
I am making a grease-monkey plugin for a website that has many flash files. I'd like to make a hash of the flash, the problem is that the flash files are up to 10(total) * 10MEGS. This is slow; I'd like to be able to only grab the first 80KB to hash. The end result would be an easy way to blacklist certain flash files containing unwanted content. Is this possible? Suggestions? Code examples are greatly appreciated!

  • Why $(":select").focus does not work while $(":input").focus works?

    - by user605660
Hi. I have a JQuery code which does something when input or select elements get focus. Although my code for input element works, select element does not work. Here is what I do. <body> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $(":input").focus(function () { //this works //do something }); $(":select").focus(function () { //this doesn't //do something }); }); </script> </body> I tried some variation on select, such as using $("select") instead of $(":select"), but did not work either. I am a beginner for JQuery. I appreciate if you could tell me how I can make it work. Thanks a lot!

  • Can the Abstract Factory pattern be considered as a case of polymorphism?

    - by rogcg
I was looking for a pattern/solution that allows me call a method as a runtime exception in a group of different methods without using Reflection. I've recently become aware of the Abstract Factory Pattern. To me, it looks so much like polymorphism, and I thought it could be a case of polymorphism but without the super class WidgetFactory, as you can see in the example of the link above. Am I correct in this assumption?

  • Maven/Spring/Java: ClassNotFoundException - but I know class is there...

    - by wuntee
I have 2 maven projects set up like this: -com.wuntee.rsaAuthenticationManager (jar) -com.wuntee.taac (pom) --taac-backend-gui (jar) --taac-web (war) And 'com.wuntee.rsaAuthenticationManager' is a dep in 'taac-backend-gui'. When running a test case in taac-backend-gui, everything executes fine, but when trying to start the taac-web, I get the following ClassNotFoundException - the library that contains the class 'weblogic.security.SSL.TrustManager' is also in my local maven repository, and set as a dependency of com.wuntee.rsaAuthenticationManager. Does anyone know why I would be getting this error? I have also attempted to directly add the library containing TrustManager to the taac-web project, and still get the same Exception. Any ideas?
