    My program is about triggering XSL transformation, Its fact that this code for carrying out the transformation, creates some dll and tmp files and deletes them pretty soon after the transformation is completed. It is almost untraceable for me to monitor the creation and deletion of files manually, so I want to include some chunk of codelines to display "which codeline has created/modified which tmp and dll files" in console window.     I am using the Mac OS X Apple Script Editor and (while debugging) instead of writing a lot of display dialog statements, I'd like to write the results of some calculation in the window below, called "Result" (I have the German UI here, so the translation is a guess). So is there a write/print statement that I can use for putting messages in the "standard out" window? I am not asking to put the messages in a logfile on the file system, it is purely temporary.

I'm fairly certain that's not the situation this time. Passing in a WidgetSet::Ptr totally eliminates the need for a cast, and it builds fine (which is why I think there's more going on than the standard answer for this question). Obviously, I'm trimming away a lot of details that might be important. My next step is to cut it down to the smallest example that fails to build, but I figured I'd try the lazy way out and take a stab on here first. TIA!

    In my console application have an abstract Factory class "Listener" which contains code for listening and accepting connections, and spawning client classes. This class is inherited by two more classes (WorldListener, and MasterListener) that contain more protocol specific overrides and functions. I also have a helper class (ConsoleWrapper) which encapsulates and extends System.Console, containing methods for writing to console info on what is happening to instances of the WorldListener and MasterListener. I need a way to determine in the abstract ListenerClass which Inheriting class is calling its methods. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated!     I am relatively new to implementing JQuery throughout an entire system, and I am enjoying the opportunity. I have come across one issue I would love to find the correct resolve for. Here is a simple case example of what I want to do: I have a button on a page, and on the click event I want to call a jquery function I have defined. I am aware I could add the click event in the document ready event, however it seems more maintainable to put events in the HTML element instead. However I have not found a way to do this.   • Database.ExecuteNonQuery does not return

    I have a very odd issue. When I execute a specific database stored procedure from C# using SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery, my stored procedure is never executed. Furthermore, SQL Profiler does not register the command at all. I do not receive a command timeout, and no exeception is thrown. The weirdest thing is that this code has worked fine over 1,200,000 times, but for this one particular file I am inserting into the database, it just hangs forever. When I kill the application, I receive this error in the event log of the database server: "A fatal error occurued while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 64, output error: 0). Which makes me think that the database server is receiving the command, though SQL Profiler says otherwise. I know that the appropiate permissions are set, and that the connection string is right as this piece of code and stored procedure works fine with other files.     I have url connection, which normally works fine NSURLConnection *connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:delegate]; But when I create a modal window, no request ever receives response: [NSApp runModalForWindow:window]; If I comment this line out, thus creating a 'standard' window, everything works. I tried implementing all methods from NSURLConnectionDelegate, not a single of them called. I suspect this is something about 'run loops', but have little experience in this area.   • Is there a recommended logging path/folder for ASP.NEt applications?

    Currently we use log4net and create a new folder (usually below C:) with write and create access rights for the worker process user. Is there perhaps a standard windows folder we should or could be using such as LOCALAPPDATA? I'm guessing that LOCALAPPDATA is a bad choice in the general case because IIS users tend to be non-interactive users and thus I don't think they have the usual user folder structrues available.

    Maybe I should back-up and widen the scope before diving into the title question... I'm currently writing a web app in ASP.NET MVC 1.0 (although I do have MVC 2.0 installed on my PC, so I'm not exactly restricted to 1.0) -- I've started with the standard MVC project which has your basic "Welcome to ASP.NET MVC" and shows both the [Home] tab and [About] tab in the upper-right corner. Pretty standard, right? I've added 4 new Controller classes, let's call them "Astronomer", "Biologist", "Chemist", and "Physicist". Attached to each new controller class is the [Authorize] attribute. For example, for the BiologistController.cs [Authorize(Roles = "Biologist,Admin")] public class BiologistController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { return View(); } } These [Authorize] tags naturally limit which user can access different controllers depending on Roles, but I want to dynamically build a Menu at the top of my website in the Site.Master Page based on the Roles the user is a part of. So for example, if JoeUser was a member of Roles "Astronomer" and "Physicist", the navigation menu would say: [Home] [Astronomer] [Physicist] [About] And naturally, it would not list links to "Biologist" or "Chemist" controller Index page. Or if "JohnAdmin" was a member of Role "Admin", links to all 4 controllers would show up in the navigation bar. Ok, you prolly get the idea... Starting with the answer from this StackOverflow topic about Dynamic Menu building in ASP.NET, I'm trying to understand how I would fully implement this. (I'm a newbie and need a little more guidance, so please bare with me.) The answer proposes Extending the Controller class (call it "ExtController") and then have each new WhateverController inherit from ExtController. My conclusion is that I would need to use Reflection in this ExtController Constructor to determine which Classes and Methods have [Authorize] attributes attached to them to determine the Roles. Then using a Static Dictionary, store the Roles and Controllers/Methods in key-value pairs. If so, how do I perform Reflection in the ExtController constructor to discover the [Authorize] attribute and related Roles (if any) ALSO! Feel free to go out-of-scope on this question and suggest an alternate way of solving this "Dynamic Site.Master Menu based on Roles" problem.
