    - by NitroxDM
I have a client that is have an issue (it's slow) with a website on one of my servers. The server is a windows 2003 box running WebSphere 6.1. I can't find anything in the logs that would indicates an issue. Is there some free software out there that can help me figure out why the site is slow on the client's end? The client has an IT department, but I need to be sure it's not my side of things.

  • Apple - best way to clean the mighty mouse?

    - by lostInTransit
As much as I love Apple products' designs, I still don't like the mighty mouse. The scrolling keeps stopping in between very frequently. I tried the instructions provided on Apple's site and it does make the scrolling smooth but only momentarily. Isn't there any way to open it up and clean like a normal mouse? Or any other way to clean it better? Thanks.

  • Password Won't Work after Crash

    - by Jack Cornell
My Win 7 computer locked up, so I shut it down (holding down the power button till it shut off). Logging back on, I got an error message that it couldn't load my profile (like I'm entering the wrong password). I logged on the guest account, but can't change anything because it won't accept my password. Is this a serious problem or do I just need to reset the password with one of the options available on your site?

  • Does Apache spawn piped logger on each HTTP request?

    - by Xepoch
I am examining a high-volume Apache prefork site and noticing that many log entries such as: CustomLog '|/foo/bar/cronolog -foo -bar' RewriteLog '|/foo/bar/cronolog -bar -foo' When apache logs the request or the rewrite is cronolog spawned for EACH request or is the pipe opened and written-to for the lifetime duration of the preforked apache process? (This was asked on stackoverflow but I'll remove from there as more applicable here I think.)

  • Accessing local resources over wifi with a BES-connected Blackberry

    - by bshacklett
I'm trying to get to a local web site on my LAN at 192.168.1.10 with my Blackberry, but I'm getting a message saying the server did not respond. I know that some, if not all, internet traffic on a BES-connected blackberry goes through the BES. This is clear because I can access internal resources on my employers network via the mobile network. Is there any way for me to specify that the device should attempt to route directly over wifi before it tries to connect via the BES server at work?

  • How do you explain what the BIOS is to non-Super User?

    - by David Johnstone
In a particularly nerdy Facebook status update I mentioned that I had flashed my BIOS. One of my friends asked what the BIOS is. My question is: How do you explain what the BIOS is and does to a layperson? (Hint: "The BIOS is the basic input/output system" is not going to be accepted as the answer.) (Of course, the real question is "does she like me?", but I'm not sure there's a site for this :-p )

  • Selectively Remove Auto Complete Entries from Internet Explorer

    - by Kanini
Hello...I use Windows XP with IE 8. When I try to access GMail (or any other site for that matter), the Auto Complete feature shows the list of username and on select of that, it auto-completes the password as well. Is there a way, I can selectively remove one or two of the entries alone without having to delete all of Auto Complete entries? PS: Ofcourse, I do know about In-Private browsing and that it can be used for ensuring that a History is not left behind and ...

  • Mercurial browser on Windows 2003 takes several refreshes before displaying repositories

    - by Tim Murphy
When attempt to browse my Mercurial repositories it usually takes several refreshes before the repository list is displayed. The configuration is as follows: Windows Server 2003 (Dedicated machine hosted by http://www.server4you.com/. Site has anonymous password protection with self-signed SSL. Mercurial 1.5.3 Python 2.6.5 Python for Windows 32 extensions 214 py2.6 isapi-wsgi 0.4.2 The repositories are being served via ISAPI using the standard hgwebdir_wspi.py file (copy to follow). Other problems with the repository server: Before doing a clone/push/etc I have to browse the repositories first otherwise hg on my local machine can not locate the site. I have one a repository with a large changeset that after a minute or so throw error "abort: error: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host". Will be asking another question for this problem. What can I do to start tracking down this problem? hgwebdir_wsgi.py # Configuration file location hgweb_config = r'C:\Public\Mercurial\WebSite\hgweb.config' # Global settings for IIS path translation path_strip = 0 # Strip this many path elements off (when using url rewrite) path_prefix = 0 # This many path elements are prefixes (depends on the # virtual path of the IIS application). import sys # Adjust python path if this is not a system-wide install #sys.path.insert(0, r'c:\path\to\python\lib') # Enable tracing. • Why should I use Amazon Route 53 over my registrar's DNS servers?

    - by Abtin Forouzandeh
I am building a site that I anticipate will have high usage. Currently, my registrar (GoDaddy) is handling DNS. However, Amazon's Route 53 looks interesting. They promise high speed and offer globally distributed DNS servers and a programmable interface. While GoDaddy doesn't offer a programmable interface, I assume their servers are geographically distributed as well. What are the main reasons I should opt to use Amazon Route 53 over free registrar-based DNS?

  • H.323 to RTSP gateway?

    - by davr
Is there such a thing as a H.323 to RTSP gateway? Am I searching for the wrong terms? This site seems to imply that such a thing should already exists, but I cannot find anything at all. My end goal is to connect a Flash applet (via RTMP) on one end to a video conference (which uses H.323) on the other end. I have a RTMP<--RTSP/RTP gateway, so a RTSP<--H.323 gateway would allow this solution to work.

  • Best way to handle PHP sessions across Apache vhost wildcard domains

    - by joshholat
I'm currently running a site that allows users to use custom domains (i.e. so instead of mysite.com/myaccount, they could have myaccount.com). They just change the A record of their domain and we then use a wildcard vhost on Apache to catch the requests from the custom domains. The setup is basically as seen below. The first vhost catches the mysite.com/myaccount requests and the second would be used for myaccount.com. As you can see, they have the exact same path and php cookie_domain. I've noticed some weird behavior surrounding the line below "#The line below me". When active, the custom domains get a new session_id every page load (that isn't the same as the non-custom domain session). However, when I comment that line out, the user keeps the same session_id on each page load, but that session_id is not the same as the one they'd see on a non-custom domain site either despite being completely on the same server. There is a sort of "hack" workaround involving redirecting the user to mysite.com/myaccount, getting the session ID, redirecting back to myaccount.com, and then using that ID on the myaccount.com. But that can get kind of messy (i.e. if the user logs out of mysite.com/myaccount, how does myaccount.com know?). For what it's worth, I'm using a database to manage the sessions (i.e. so there's no issues with being on different servers, etc, but that's irrelevant since we only use one server to handle all requests currently anyways). I'm fairly certain it is related to some sort of CSRF browser protection thing, but shouldn't it be smart enough to know it's on the same server? Note: These are subdomains, they're separate domains entirely (but on the same server). <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot "/opt/local/www/mysite.com" ServerName mysite.local ErrorLog "/opt/local/apache2/logs/mysite.com-error.log" CustomLog "/opt/local/apache2/logs/mysite.com-access.log" common <Directory "/opt/local/www/mysite.com"> AllowOverride All #php_value session.save_path "/opt/local/www/mysite.com/sessions" php_value session.cookie_domain "mysite.local" php_value auto_prepend_file "/opt/local/www/mysite.com/core.php" </Directory> </VirtualHost> #Wildcard (custom domain) vhost <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot "/opt/local/www/mysite.com" ServerName default ServerAlias * ErrorLog "/opt/local/apache2/logs/mysite.com-error.log" CustomLog "/opt/local/apache2/logs/mysite.com-access.log" common <Directory "/opt/local/www/mysite.com"> AllowOverride All #php_value session.save_path "/opt/local/www/mysite.com/sessions" # The line below me php_value session.cookie_domain "mysite.local" php_value auto_prepend_file "/opt/local/www/mysite.com/core.php" </Directory> </VirtualHost>
