  • Embed resource in .NET Assembly without assembly prefix?

    Hi all, When you embed a reosurce into a .NET assembly using Visual Studio, it is prefixed with the assembly name. However, assemblies can have embedded resources that are not assembly-name-prefixed. The only way I can see to do this is to disassemble the assembly using ildasm, then re-assemble it, adding the new resource -- which works, but... do I really need to finish that sentence?     Can I user mono's AOT (Ahead of Time compilation) feature to natively "pre-compile" all or part of some of my own .NET DLLs (and or EXEs) to make them harder to reverse engineer? I'm using Windows (7 / x64 but I have an x86 XP machine as well) and .NET 3.5 (VS 2008) and I'm curious if mono/AOT can be/has been used for this purpose? (Tying them to x86 is acceptable at this point.) See also this question where I tried this and had no luck.

    I'm investigating smart pointers with "shared" functionality for Windows CE and Mobile, where the VS 2008 tr1 std::shared_ptr cannot be used (due to linkage to a v.9 dll not present on CE, obviously, if I understand it correctly). There's a semi-old MSDN Magazine article with sources from a Microsoftie (Eric Niebler): Achieve More Reliable Resource Management with Our Custom C++ Classes. The reasoning, design and implementation of his shared_any looks solid, but I'm wondering if anyone ever actually tested the lot on any platform (not necessarily WinCe/WM)?

  • running an android app on the device instead of on the emulator.

    hi, I've installed the usb driver, i'm running win7. I can see that the driver is installed in the window-android SDK and AVD manager-installed packages but when i'm writing "adb devices" in the cmd it doesnt show like the phone is connected (it is - it has the orange led on..) I'm using the HTC G1. I also did the "Turn on "USB Debugging" on your device" step... anyone got an idea??

    Is there a way to start WebDevServer (Visual Web Development Server) by passing in the .sln file without actually opening Visual Studio 2008? I am a JavaScript developer and I work in a client project and I want to save the memory overhead consumed by VS and give it to multiple browsers for cross-browser testing.   • J2me midlet that reads from HttpConnection throws IOException

    I'm just starting to work with j2me. I'm trying to work with HttpConnection but everytime I run my sample midlet, I'm always getting an IOException which says that there is a connection error. When I test it with the emulator of the Nokia S40 5th edition FP1 lite sdk, I don't experience that problem. I'm using a Nokia 2330 phone with gprs.

    I want to use HierarchyNode class which is in the Microsoft.VisualStudio.Package namespace and the assembly is MPF.Project.NonShipping.dll. There was no assembly on the .net reference or on the COM. I searched for the file, but it was not on the machine.     VSDoc is an awesome way of commenting Javascript, and I particularly like the ability to make one Javascript file 'depend' on another. This paves the way for Javascript minifiers/combiners that take into account proper ordering of script includes. The only thing that might bother some is that it's VS-Doc. Are there any competing standards that are designed to be vendor-neutral? And how widely is the VSDoc standard used by non-Microsoft IDEs such as Eclipse, etc?

  • Visual Studio 2010 isn't building before a run when there are code changes. It was doing working yes

    I've been using using F5 (Start Debugging) for years to build the code (if its out of date), and then debug. This was working on VS 2010 also, however today it just start debugging without a build. Say I do a clean on the project, and then hit F5 instead of building it so it can run it throws an error message saying that the exe doesn't exist to run. How do I make it build first? What could have changed?

I tried to import PhoneGap example files like from there (I use Qt-creator coz when I try to do it on Carbide, as described, it said that my EPOCROOT is wrong, but it isn't).
