  • How to stream authenticated content with MediaPlayer on Android

    I've seen quite a few posts askign this question on SO but there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer (or at least an answer I like!) I've got content protected behind basic auth (username/password) -- I can download it fine using the various HTTP download clases but for the life of me I can't sort out how to tell media player to stream it (and provide the authentication). I saw one post that suggested it wasn't possible since the MediaPlayer is all native code and doesn't things like the Authenticator. There are plenty of examples of how to first download to a cached copy and then play that back but....That sort of sucks (and the files maybe 100's of MB's). I saw at least one proposal to download it in smalish chunks and then start & stop the playback (redirecting to the new file) but that sort of sucks also since there would (I presume) be a stutter (I haven't tried it though) The best idea I have at this point is to start downloading to a cache file and then when it's 'full enough' start up playback while I continue to fill the file.... I hope that this works (but again, haven't tried it). Am I missing something obvious? It's so painful to have all the various pieces almost working and I sort of convinced myself that there had to be a way to natively stream protected content (or have it take a already established & qualified InputStream) but it appears no joy. BTW I'm a Mac/iPhone guy and a newb at Android so I'm still fighting a bit of Java learning.... Excuse me if I'm missing somthing obvious. -john

    i have a question. I have a website in which i am giving security like login id and password( as usual). No what i want is that, 1) I don't want to allow a single user to login in different machine at the same time. 2) For this i am using a column in database which is keeping the current status of user(i.e. loging/logout). I am allowing user to login only when has session has not closed and status is login. 3) So my problem is that when i am logging out manually. it is closing the session as well as updating the database with status "logout". 4) but when i am closing the window from Cross buttonat top right corner. it is closing the ssion but table data is still "login". so later on i can't be able to login into the same user. 5) So how could i solve this problem. Please help me!

  • SQL Server Connection Timeout C#

    First off I'd like to let everyone know I have searched my particular problem and can't seem to find what's causing my problem. I have an SQL Server 2008 instance running on a network machine and a client I have written connecting to it. To connect I have a small segment of code that establishes a connection to an sql server 2008 instance and returns a DataTable populated with the results of whatever query I run against the server, all pretty standard stuff really. Anyway the issue is, whenever I open my program and call this method, upon the first call to my method, regardless as to what I've set my Connection Timeout value as in the connection string, it takes about 15 seconds and then times out. Bizarrely though the second or third call I make to the method will work without a problem. I have opened up the ports for SQL Server on the server machine as outlined in this article: How to Open firewall ports for SQL Server and verified that it is correctly configured.   • Preserving the order of annotations

    When obtaining the list of fields using getFields() and getDeclaredFields(), the order of the fields in a Java class is undefined. I need this order in my validation library. Since the order is not preserved (though some claim that the order is preserved in JDK 6 and above but is not guaranteed across VMs). I cannot speculate on this because the order of annotations across fields is absolutely essential for the library. One way to get around this is to have an order or an index attribute in my Annotation. What worries me is that the code could become a bit cumbersome for maintaining in the following case. If the use wants to insert a new annotated field then, he might have to renumber all the other annotations in the class. I could have the order or index as a floating point number - float or double but , it wouldn't look good to have order such as 1, 1.5, 2, etc., What would be an elegant solution for this problem?   • Most effecient way to create a "slider" timeline in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript?

    Alright, so here's my dilemma. I've got these two "slides" lined up, one ready to be passed into view. I have it working and all, but I can scroll over to the right to see the second slide! How could I have it you can only view the one slide? But. If you reload, you can see that you can scroll to the right of the screen and view the second slide prematurely, which is just not going to work for me. I still need to achieve the same seamless transition, but you must only be able to view one slide at a time. Also, I plan to expand with more slides, so if you're feeling lucky today, I'd really love to see an example of how I could support multiple frames. I'm very new to JavaScript (yet I know syntax rules, and general coding knowledge from other languages), so the better you explain, the more knowledgeable I can be, and I'd be very grateful for that.   • Sessions not sticking linux server

    I have just moved the dev site over to my linux server for production but the sessions don't seem to be sticking for very long. I am guessing it is the server settings and not the php because it does the same thing with the plesk panel. Whenever a script is executed the sessions seems to get unset. I see nothing in the error log so not sure what it is. It all worked fine on wamp. Anyway I uploaded the php.ini file which was in the wamp server as it had all the settings i needed and all was working on localhost. Not sure what the problem is and this is the final thing that I have to sort out before going into production. And just too add the sessions are being started as they last for a little bit just don't stick around long.   • MVC2 AJAX - determining UpdateTargetId based on the returned data

    The scenario: I'm creating a login form for an MVC2 application. How i'm doing it: The form submits to an MVC2 action which validates the username/password. If it fails validation the action returns the form (a partial view) for the user to try again. If it passes validation the action returns the page the user was visiting before they logged in (a view). What i want to happen: 1 - when the form is submitted and the user validates successfully, The returned result should replace the current page (like what happens if you don't set an UpdateTargetId). 2 - When the form is submitted and the user fails validation, the returned result should replace the form (like what happens if you set the UpdateTargetID to the form's containing element). The problem: I can make both of those things work, but not at the same time. I can either have it always replace the current page, or always just replace the contents of the UpdateTargetId element. But I need it to be able to do either depending on whether the user successfully validated or not. What I need The ideal solution would be to be able to examine the result of the ajax request and determine whether to use the UpdateTargetId (replacing just the form) or not (replacing the whole page). I expect it would involve some work with jquery (assuming it's possible) but i'm not really that great with jquery yet to figure out how to do it myself. If it can't be done this way I'm also open to other methods/solutions for making it work in a similar fashion. Thanks in advance ..

I've heard about using ob_start() at the beginning of content, but that's not a very specific instruction...I tried placing it at the beginning of homepage.php (just before the html tag) and that didn't fix anything. I'm new to PHP (a few days in, and new to web-app dev in general). To be honest, it blows my mind that I can't just change which page I am on, via php without bending over backwards...

  • Write transparent HTTP Proxy script in PHP

    Is there an easy forwarding/transparent php proxy script that I can host on my web server? These are my conditions: I'm using free web hosting, so I have pretty much no control over my machine. Otherwise I could use Perl's HTTP::Proxy module. This means no root password. It does run php though. I already have a server running on port 80. What I mean is I would like to put a php script as index.php on my server that will forward all requests. I don't want a script like PHProxy or Glype where I go to the site, then enter a URL. I want a server so I can enter proxy.example.com:80 in Firefox's or IE's or whatever's proxy settings and it will forward all requests to the server. Preferably (though not fatal if not possible) I would like for it to pass on the USER_AGENT environmental variable (That's the browser) instead of setting itself to be the USER_AGENT I can't start a new Daemon. My server won't allow it. Is there a script that will do this? If so, which?

    We have developed a ASP.NET web application and has implemented a custom authentication solution using active directory as the credentials store. Our front end application uses a normal login form to capture the user name and password and leverages the Win32 LogonUser method to authenticate the user’s credentials. When we are calling the LogonUser method, we are using the LOGON32_LOGON_NETWORK as the logon type. The issue we have found is that user profile folders are being created under the C:\Users folder of the web server. The folder seems to be created when a new user who has never logged on before is logging in for the first time. As the number of new users logging into the application grows, disk space is shrinking due to the large number of new user folders getting created. Has anyone seen this behavior with the Win32 LogonUser method? Does anyone know how to disable this behavior? I have tried LOGON32_LOGON_BATCH but it was giving an error 1385 in authentication user. I need either of the solution 1) Is there any way to stop the folder generation. 2) What parameter I need to pass this to work? Thanks

    I have the PHP below on a file called fblike.php. On another file, I have the Facebook Like button. The Like button functions. I would like to run the code below when the Facebook Like button is clicked. I know that FB.Event.subscribe('edge.create', function(response) {} is supposed to run whenever the Like button is clicked. I know that I am probably supposed to use Javascript and maybe Ajax to cause the PHP on fblike.php to run. But after multiple tries, I can't get it to work. What is the specific Ajax code that I could include within the Facebook Event?   • document.getElementById('form_name').submit() not working properly

    Ok, I will try to give the most details I can. The site is not suposed to work with IE6. It would be nice if it worked with IE8 and Chrome, but that can be done later. The site is in PHP. The form where the submit is in another PHP file that is included in position on the index.php inside of a DIV tag. If I open the form solely, the submit works correcly, but when I try to submit on the index page, the Firefox error console says that document is undefined. The form code is echoed line by line via PHP. Save the text fields for username and password, the form code is the following: <form id="entrar" action="entrar.php" method="post" onsubmit="javascript:checkvalues();"> <a href="javascript:document.getElementById('entrar').submit();">ENTRAR</a> </form> What's the big deal? What am I missing here? I know it is something very silly but I can't figure it out.

  • Cannot Display Data from MySQL table

    I've got a pretty standard call to a MySQL database and for some reason I can't get the code to work. Here's what I have: $mysqli = mysqli_connect("localhost","username","password"); if (!$mysqli) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysqli_error($mysqli)); } session_start(); $sql = "SELECT * FROM jobs ORDER BY id DESC"; $result = $mysqli->query($sql); $num_rows = mysqli_num_rows($result); Now, first, I know that it is connecting properly because I'm not getting the die method plus I added an else conditional in there previously and it checked out. Then the page displays but I get the errors: Warning: mysqli_num_rows() expects parameter 1 to be mysqli_result, boolean given in blablabla/index.php on line 11 Warning: mysqli_fetch_array() expects parameter 1 to be mysqli_result, boolean given in blablabla/index.php on line 12 I've double-checked my database and there is a table called jobs with a row of "id" (it's the primary row). The thing that confuses me is this is code that I literally copied and pasted from another site I built and for some reason the code doesn't work on this one (I obviously copy and pasted it and then just changed the table name and rows accordingly). I saw the error and tried: $num_rows = $mysqli_result->num_rows; $row_array = $mysqli_result->fetch_array; and that fixed the errors but resulted in no data being passed (because obviously $mysqli_result has no value). I don't know why the error is calling for that (is it a difference in version of MySQL or PHP from the other site)? Can someone help me track down the problem? Thanks so much. Sorry if it's something super simple that I'm overlooking, I've been at it for a while.

    there's something strange in my client/server socket using RSA. If i test it on localhost, everithing goes fine, but if i put client on a pc and server on othe pc, something gone wrong. Client after call connect, call a method for public keys exchange with server. This part of code works fine.   • What are advantages of using a one-to-one table relationship? (MySQL)

    What are advantages of using a one-to-one table relationship as opposed to simply storing all the data in one table? I understand and make use of one-to-many, many-to-one, and many-to-many all the time, but implementing a one-to-one relationship seems like a tedious and unnecessary task, especially if you use naming conventions for relating (php) objects to database tables. I couldn't find anything on the net or on this site that could supply a good real-world example of a one-to-one relationship. At first I thought it might be logical to separate 'users', for example, into two tables, one containing public information like an 'about me' for profile pages and one containing private information such as login/password, etc. But why go through all the trouble of using unnecessary JOINS when you can just choose which fields to select from that table anyway? If I'm displaying the user's profile page, obviously I would only SELECT id,username,email,aboutme etc. and not the fields containing their private info. Anyone care to enlighten me with some real-world examples of one-to-one relationships?

  • Unwanted redirection after authentication

    Hello world! We have a form to submit ratings for a certain restaurant in a in our views/restaurants/show.html.erb. We only want logged in users to create new ratings. We put before_filter :login_required, :only = [ :new, :create ] (but we also tried only ":create") on top of our RatingsController. If we click the submit button after typing in the rating details we are prompted to log in (which is what we want). After filling in username and password and submitting the login form we get redirected back to e. g. /restaurants/36/ratings, but we want to be redirected back to where we came from - e. g. /restaurants/36/. We tried redirect_to(:back), but this redirects us back to the login form. Also the new rating does not get saved to the database. Any idea how we can change the redirection and how to make sure the rating gets saved? Thanks!
