  • How do I debug a ASP.NET application

    - by Jim McKintosh
I have a ASP.NET application I've inherited from the person who did my job previously, when I try to debug the program I get the error below. "A project with an output type of class librart cannot be started directly" I'm familiar with desktop programs but I'm new to working with ASP.NET, the code is easy enough to understand but I can't get my head around how to successfully debug it. PS VS 2008 if that helps. Thanks Jim

  • How to unit test private methods in BDD / TDD?

    - by robert_d
I am trying to program according to Behavior Driven Development, which states that no line of code should be written without writing failing unit test first. My question is, how to use BDD with private methods? How can I unit test private methods? Is there better solution than: - making private methods public first and then making them private when I write public method that uses those private methods; or - in C# making all private methods internal and using InternalsVisibleTo attribute. • Warning: pointer of type 'void *' used in subtraction

    - by idealistikz
Although it runs correctly, the following results in the aforementioned compiler warning: return ((item - (my->items))/(my->itemSize)); 'item' is a 'void *'; 'my-items' is a 'void *'; 'my-itemSize' is an 'int' Casting 'item' and 'my-items' as an 'int *' caused the program to run improperly. What is the best way to remove the warning?

  • Is there a java api to access bugzilla?

    - by Mauli
Is there a (standalone!) java api which wraps the XML-RPC interface to bugzilla? I don't want to program my own api for it, and I can't actually find a library which does this (and only this). Update: I'm looking for something like this http://oss.dbc.dk/bugzproxy/ only written in Java

  • Possible to "next track" e.g. Spotify from my app?

    - by parse
I'm planning on doing a application for Android 2.1 that changes song every minute (through what I hope exists in Android, "next track") for the application using the audio device atm. So if I have Spotify (http://www.spotify.com) running in background already, playing music, can I through my program change to the next track? Let me know if I was unclear about anything. Thanks in advance!

  • How can I manipulate a VB6 Collection in .NET?

    - by jhominal
Hello all, I am currently in the process of designing an interface for .NET software that would be consumed by COM objects - specifically, VB6. While I have found a number of pages by Microsoft detailing how to make an COM-interoperable interface, I am currently tripping over the use of Collections in design time: I would like to be able to use a standard VB6 "Collection object" in the .NET program - for example, specify an argument as being a VB6 collection - and thus minimize the time necessary for clients to consume the interface. Thank you in advance.

  • How does JVM handles dynamic allocation

    - by Nile
I want to understand how JVM manages heap for the dynamic allocations. Since every java program is invoked as a thread, when does JVM's garbage collector come into play. Also, how things work for javascript's dynamic allocation ?

  • Does a lazy-programmer file auto-generator tags exist?

    - by Anthony Forloney
I was wondering (if possible) if there was a program/tool/utility that when I create a new file and provide it with an extension that it creates the tags automatically? For example, a new file I create called index.php would have the appropriate tags auto-generated inside: <?php ?> I hope you get the idea. Does one, or could one, exist, preferably Windows based? Any information regarding this would be helpful.

  • How do you override ProgramFilesFolder in an msi?

    - by Mark
I have an msi file that I am trying to install in a place other than C:\Program Files. The directory table shows that ProgramFilesFolder is used as the default install directory. From reading this blog post I understand that ProgramFilesFolder is a standard directory so passing TARGETDIR as a property to the installer will not change the install location even through the directory table has it as the parent of ProgramFilesFolder. How can I override the install location? I am a total novice in this area.

    Hi Folk, Here is a sample java program. I wonder why the two approaches reslut different stories. Is it a bug or kind of bitter java feature? And I run the sample upon java 1.5 package test; public class TestOut{ public static void main(String[] args){ new TestIn();//it works Class.forName("test.TestOut$TestIn").newInstance();// throw IllegalAccessException } private static class TestIn{} }

  • Should I avoid using Java Label Statements?

    - by Kamikaze Mercenary
Today I had a coworker suggest I refactor my code to use a label statement to control flow through 2 nested for loops I had created. I've never used them before because personally I think they decrease the readability of a program. I am willing to change my mind about using them if the argument is solid enough however. What are people's opinions on label statements?

  • Is it multitasking?

    - by Newbie
Consider the below program myThread = new Thread( new ThreadStart( delegate { Method1(); Method2(); } ) ); Is it that 2 threads are getting called parallely(multitasking) or a single thread is calling the methods sequentially? It's urgent.

  • Scrum backlog sizing is taking forever

    - by zachary
I work on a huge project. While we program we end up meeting for endless backlog sizing sessions where all the developers sit down with the team and size user stories. Scrum doubters are saying that this process is taking too long and development time is being wasted. My question is how long should it take to size a user story on average? And does anyone have any tips to make these sizing sessions go quicker?
