  I have MySQL installed on Ubuntu 11.10. I has been working fine for months but yesterday I started getting the following message ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) and cannot get rid of it. I tried /etc/init.d/mysqld start and got bash: /etc/init.d/mysqld: No such file or directory The /etc/init.d/ directory contains mysql but not mysqld. I tried sudo service mysql restart It just hung for about half an hour and then I ctrl-C-ed it. I then tried sudo service mysql start I got mysql start/running But when I tried mysql I got ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) I tried ps aux|grep mysql and got peter 17754 0.0 0.0 4196 768 pts/1 S+ 09:38 0:00 grep --color=auto mysql I ideas about fixing this problem would be most appreciated.

• How to setup GIT repo on server with need for working dir (non- bare)

  I want to have configurate a GIT repo for a website. Multiple users will have a clone of the repo on their local machine and on the end of each day they push their work to the server. I can setup a bare repo, but I want a working dir/non-bare repository. The idea is that the working dir of the repository will the root folder for the website. At the end of each day all changes will be visible directly. But I can't find a way to do this. • Possible to find what IP address caused a 403.6 error?

  I have a website setup in IIS that is rejecting all IP addresses except for a specific set. I thought I had added my machines IP address to this list, but evertime I try to access I get the error: HTTP Error 403.6 - Forbidden: IP address of the client has been rejected. Internet Information Services (IIS) I would like to figure out what IP address it think I am coming form when it rejects me. I tried looking at the IIS logs and in the Security Event Logs but I'm not seeing anything. Suggestions on where to look?

  SendMail 8.14.x | CentOS 5.x I've noticed that if I manually update /etc/mail/sendmail.mc (for example, enable TLS support), and then bounce sendmail, I get the following error: Shutting down sm-client: [ OK ] Shutting down sendmail: [ OK ] Starting sendmail: sendmail.mc:18: m4: cannot open `/usr/share/sendmail-cf/ostype/linux-gnu.mf': No such file or directory [ OK ] Starting sm-client: [ OK ] This only happens one time after I update a sendmail.mc file. If I bounce sendmail again (without making any other change), I don't see the error any more. Any idea why this happens? It doesn't cause any errors - I'm just curious.

• Websphere 7: Getting 'Internal Server Error' when accessing JSPs. Servlets ok

  I have just installed WS 7 on our stage server. The test server was done some months ago. I have deployed the same applications to stage as on test. One application is causing me problems. I call the login servlet but the result is an 'Internal Server Error' message. From my logs I can see that the servlet processed the log in successfully and redirects to a JSP. That is the last message. I can find no further info in any of the other standard out/err logs. I have tried creating a simple JSP containing only HTML - same error. If I rename the file to test.html, it displays correctly. The plugin configuration appears to be identical with the one on the test server (where everything works) Ideas anyone?

• Can the JVM(Oracle) run into an OutOfMemory error if the heap size is below the max?

  I am running a Tomcat site(with an NGinx front end) that seems to be randomly running out of memory even though the max heap size is pretty large. My question is is it possible for the JVM to get an OutOfMemory error even if the heap size is significantly less than -Xmx? For instance, here is a snapshot I took just 15 seconds before an OutOfMemory error: Tue Dec 18 23:13:28 JST 2012 Free memory: 162.31 MB Total memory: 727.75 MB Max memory: 3808.00 MB I guess theoretically it's possible that my code generated 3 gigs worth of objects in 15 seconds, but I highly doubt it. It seems like the JVM was unable to grow the heap even though it theoretically had room....Is it possible that other processes started using memory to the point that the JVM could not grow? I am running 64-bit Oracle Hotspot on a 64 bit vm running CentOS 5 with 6 gigs of ram.

  I keep getting the error code 80072EFE and windows is not installing 11 important updates. Also .NET framework 3.5 is not getting installed it keeps saying that its not able to download. My internet connection is working fine and I am able to browse over the entire internet. I have not changed any of the settings and I am running on Windows 8. The error code I get for .NET is 0x800F0906. Windows live essential are also not getting downloaded. Is there some issue with the Microsoft servers these days?

  Somone made a Youtube video on Ditto, and that person uses Win+Num to paste items from the list. He put a screenshot of his settings on Google Plus: When I try to do the same, which is to put “1” in the text field of Position 1, and check the “Win” box to add the Windows key as the sole modifier for the shortcut, which will be Win + 1, I get an error in that says “Error Registering Position 1” in a window titled CP_Main: Could it be because Win+Num conflicts with the natural Win+Num shortcut (starts the application pinned to the taskbar in that position, or switches to that program) of Windows 7? • Trying to unpack 2.5GB .tar.gz file on Linux but getting "An error occurred while trying to open the archive"

  Hi, Is there a limit on Linux for the file size of a .tar.gz (or its contents). I am currently creating a .tar.gz (both through the UI/"Compress As" and also through the command line) file for 2 files (6GB and 2GB), and even though it is created successfully, when I try to unpack it using Ark it throws the error "An error occurred while trying to open the archive". I have seen some places that it might be better to archive the file into several smaller .tar.gz files, but I was wondering exactly how to do this (and subsequently unpack the files). Also, is it totally impossible to use the 1 .tar.gz file approach as this would be much simpler. Thanks in advance, Tim

• WAMP - phpmyadmin 403 error from localhost, but not from IP 127.0.0.1?

  I was wondering if anyone can explain this to me. I installed WAMP 2.2. I opened up the dashboard menu, and clicked localhost. I was brought to the WAMP localhost home page. I clicked on phpmyadmin and get a 403 access is denied error message. However, if I type in the ip address 127.0.0.1/phpmyadmin in the address bar, then VOILA, I am in (however, I am not prompted to login to phpmyadmin, I am instantly brought to the phpmyadmin homepage) Please note, I have found the solution to get rid of the 403 error message when entering phpmyadmin from the the localhost extension (change the Deny all setting to Allow all); so I am not asking how to solve that, but my question is: Why if localhost and 127.0.0.1 go to the same spot, will when using the IP addres, I am granted access to subsequent applications and with localhost I am not? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  We are getting ready to do a network-wide upgrade to Exchange 2010. The url for the old 2007 mailboxes is at https://mail.example.com and users who have had their mail box moved will have to go to https://Email.example.com If a user that has a 2010 mailbox attempts to login at the 2007 OWA location, they get a standard 403 Forbidden page. We would like to show them a page of our own making, that includes a link to the 2010 OWA login page. I assumed we could do this with an IIS Custom Error page, but setting the 403.4 error page in IIS on the Default web site doesn't seem to be working. Does anyone know how we could get around this? BTW, our OWA for the 2007 boxes in on Windows Server 2003, and IIS 6

  Yesterday I got a problem which I posted here. Trying to solve it, I installed slitaz live CD to desktop. After that I tried to use boot other live CD's (Ubuntu, Tiny core) but they didn't boot. So I deleted the the slitaz partition through gparted(or something like that) and restarted. After that I am seeing this error message:` GRUB Loading stage 1.5. Starting cmain() ...   Someone in my studio designed a webpage some years ago, and now the client decided to change the server (he moved to a Linux Apache server running Gen2 SMP, 64 bits, PHP version 5.3.8, Standard MYSQL version 5). It suddenly started to do weird things. When clicking on a link that requires login, the page redirects you to the login page using header() function in PHP. • Can I mix drive types in an HP server?

  I currently have the following setup: HP DL380 G4 Server 6 x 73GB, Ultra160, 10k, SCSI 80 Pin Drives Smart Array 6i Controller RAID 5 One of the drives is failing and needs to be replaced. I have on hand drives that are the same size and type, but are Ultra320, 15k instead. I have verified that these drives work in another system with the same type of drive controller. When I plug one of these in the system simply reports the drive as being offline and has nothing further to do with it. From what I have read these drives should be compatable. Should this work at all and if so, what might be preventing it?

  I have 18 updates appearing for Windows 7 x64 but when I try to install any of them I get the error 800706BE. The Microsoft help that appears gives several solutions: Fix It button. This downloads MicrosoftFixit50123.msi from http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9666880 (963KB). After running it displays the message "This Microsoft Fix It has been processed". System Update Readiness Tool. This is actually in response to error 800B0100 which isn't the one I'm seeing.
