• How to set the default language in Notepad++

  I mostly use Notepad++ for dealing with XML files. It would be good if Notepad++ parsed and colorized my files based on the XML language when I open the files. Instead, I have to open the file, pick XML from the Languages menu. Is there a way to tell Notepad++ that XML is the default language and to treat the files accordingly.

• iPhone: UIImagePickerController Randomly Fails to Take Picture

  I use a UIPickerViewController to take picture. It works 80% but seemingly at random it fails to take a picture. In tracing the code I found out that it occasionally goes to -PinRecordNewTableViewController:viewDidUnload.   Hi, I am trying to create a social timeline. I pull in feeds form certain places so I have a timeline of thing I have done. The problem I am having is with Google reader Shared Items. I want to get the time at which I shared the item which is contained in <entry gr:crawl-timestamp-msec="1269088723811"> Trying to get the element using $date = $xml->entry[$i]->link->attributes()->gr:crawl-timestamp-msec; fails because of the : after gr which causes a PHP error. (I'm on word 2003 if that matters and Python 2.4) The first part of my replace method below works on everything except text in text boxes. The text just doesn't get selected. I notice when I go into Word manually and hit ctrl-A all of the text gets selected except for the text box. • JKS, CER, SignCode issue

  Currently, I've got an intresting problem about signing an EXE file using the SignCode tool from Microsoft and a certificate (from GlobalSign)... So, we've bought a new certificate as the current one will expire in short time. The original format is JKS. I exported this certificate from .JKS to .CER so I can install on local machine in the Root Trusted Certificates section. I've installed it and if I open the certmgr.msc I can see it, but if I open the Control Panel - Internet Options - Content - Certificates - Root Trusted Certificates etc then I can't see it... I thought it should be here as well. When I run the signcode.exe tool I get the "unable to open a csp provider with the correct private key" error message. Note! The signcode.exe command is correct, because it works if I test with the old certificate. Please advise. Thank you in advance! Serge

• Is there a more easy way to create a WCF/OData Data Service Query Provider?

  I have a simple little data model resembling the following: InventoryContext { IEnumerable<Computer> GetComputers() IEnumerable<Printer> GetPrinters() } Computer { public string ComputerName { get; set; } public string Location { get; set; } } Printer { public string PrinterName { get; set; } public string Location { get; set; } } The results come from a non-SQL source, so this data does not come from Entity Framework connected up to a database. Now I want to expose the data through a WCF OData service. The only way I've found to do that thus far is creating my own Data Service Query Provider, per this blog tutorial: http://blogs.msdn.com/alexj/archive/2010/01/04/creating-a-data-service-provider-part-1-intro.aspx ... which is great, but seems like a pretty involved undertaking. The code for the provider would be 4 times longer than my whole data model to generate all of the resource sets and property definitions. Is there something like a generic provider in between Entity Framework and writing your own data source from zero? Maybe some way to build an object data source or something, so that the magical WCF unicorns can pick up my data and ride off into the sunset without having to explicitly code the provider?

• Trouble binding WPF Menu to ItemsSource

  I would like to avoid having to build a menu manually in XAML or code, by binding to a list of ICommand-derived objects. However, I'm experiencing a bit of a problem where the resulting menu has two levels of menu-items (i.e. each MenuItem is contained in a MenuItem): My guess is that this is happening because WPF is automatically generating a MenuItem for my binding, but the "viewer" I'm using actually already is a MenuItem (it's derived from MenuItem): <ContextMenu x:Name="selectionContextMenu" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={x:Static OrangeNote:Note.MultiCommands}}" ItemContainerStyleSelector="{StaticResource separatorStyleSelector}"> <ContextMenu.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Viewers:NoteCommandMenuItemViewer CommandParameter="{Binding Source={x:Static OrangeNote:App.Screen}, Path=SelectedNotes}" /> </DataTemplate> </ContextMenu.ItemTemplate> </ContextMenu> (The ItemContainerStyleSelector is from http://bea.stollnitz.com/blog/?p=23, which allows me to have Separator elements inside my bound source.)   How do I pass commands (shell) to a persistent SSH tunnel rather than open a connection for every instance? I have a Python scraper running on a client server which passes URL variables and shell commands to a remote host via a reverse tunnel (forwarded port), so that the URL's are then executed on the host (python fabric ssh localhost:12345 'browser open URL'). I could make the reverse tunnel persistent but how do I echo the url/command to the session? Update - ControlMaster (built into SSH) solves this one.

• How to stop a random ramp in FCGI Processes Killing the server

  So got the below earlier to day... Around that time the logs show a ramp in processes(600) and associated memory (1.2g), cpu usage load average (80) untill the server gave out. Server had to be hard reset by host as there was no ssh or plesk panel access. Fast CGI is configured as below and is setup for one high use site. As I understand it FcgidMaxProcesses 20 should protect against what happen but has not. I've read many forums with differing answers and references to many different fcgi directives, but have found nothing conclusive. • Writing Russian in XML

  Hi, I am writing a Xml Tag Renamer class with Java which reads in a XML, renames the tags and write them back into another XML file using DocumentBuilderFactory and TransformerFactory (text nodes are preserved). It worked fine before with German and English texts, until today, when I tried to rename a XML file with russian text. Instead of the source texts I got ????? in the newly created XML file. I've tried setting Encoding Any idea how to correct this? Thanks! PS. Strings were correct before entering TransformerFactory, as I checked in the debugger. I've tried setting OutputKeys.ENCODING to UTF-8 and ISO-8859-5. None of them helped.
